Welcome to Multiverse News, Your source for Information about all your favorite fictional universesBrad Winderbaum, head of streaming, television, and animation for Marvel Studios, caught the attention of Defenders fans when he shared that Marvel is exploring bringing back the rest of the Netflix Defenders actors and characters; Krysten Ritter as Jessica Jones, Mike Colter as Luke Cage, and Finn Jones as Iron Fist. Winderbaum indicated that the studio is excited about this possibility, but there are a lot of variables that will determine the success of pulling it all together. While this is fun to hear as fans, other Marvel TV is taking a pause. Though sources say these projects were never officially greenlit, Deadline reports that Nova, Strange Academy, and Terror, Inc. are not currently being developed. This is mostly being attributed to Marvel's shift to traditionally-run television shows. But in confirmed news, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that Jon Bernthal will star in a Marvel Studios Special Presentation featuring The Punisher that will air in 2026 alongside the second season of Daredevil: Born Again. On Monday we were treated to the surprise drop of the full Andor season 2 trailer from Lucasfilm. In a very un-Star Wars-like fashion, the high octane footage is set to The Revolution Starts Now by Steve Earle and reminds viewers of how acclaimed the first season was. The drop shared more interesting news; the 12-episode season will be dropped in increments of three episodes at a time for four weeks. Phew!DC's duo of James Gunn and Peter Safran took time to have a press event last Friday where they updated us, the people, on where things are going with DC Studios. It's been just over two years since the big film and television overhaul with DC was announced, with Gunn and Safran taking control of the franchise. Gunn reiterated their desire to bring new stories to life with these characters. The updates included the following: Supergirl is halfway through production, Lanterns began production last week, Clayface will be directed by James Watkins and is eyeing a fall 2026 release, Sgt. Rock, still being directed by Luca Guadagnino, no longer has Daniel Craig attached and is looking for its new star, and the animated Robin movie, Dynamic Duo, is in pre-production. Lastly and perhaps most importantly, Gunn had some comments on The Brave and The Bold that some are taking as confirmation that Robert Pattinson will not be the DCU's Batman, with the filmmaker saying,“It's certainly not the plan.” And Safran added, “And we love him, but we've got to introduce a Batman into the DCU. That's imperative. And so that's the plan with The Brave and the Bold.”The James Bond movie franchise is going through a shake up, with Amazon MGM Studios and Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli forming a new joint venture to house the movie property's intellectual property rights. Under the terms of the agreement, Amazon MGM Studios will gain creative control of the James Bond franchise, while Wilson and Broccoli will remain co-owners of the 60-year-old property. In 2022, Amazon acquired MGM. Since the MGM acquisition, Amazon has held rights to distribute all of the James Bond films, and following completion of the joint venture transaction will control the creative on future productions.Season two of The Last of Us finally has a premiere date. The seven-episode season of the drama will debut April 13 on HBO. That means the season will complete its run in late May, just under the wire for Emmy eligibility this year.Jack O'Connell and Delroy Lindo, who will both star in Ryan Coolger's upcoming film Sinners, have joined the cast of Legendary's upcoming Monsterverse sequel to Godzilla x Kong.Kitao Sakurai, perhaps best known for writing, directing and exec producing The Eric Andre Show, has been tapped to direct Street Fighter, Legendary Entertainment's feature adaptation of the classic video game from Capcom.

Of course, the Broccoli family is American, although based in the UK. But, seeing creative control of a very British film icon passing from a family firm to a US corporation has raised many questions for many people. I give my take, which is that this is not the first turning point for 007, and that a third-generation business would be very unusual, both in movie making and in the UK generally.Naturally, I can't resist looking at the counter examples! According to the Campden Family Business news website, the oldest twenty family firms in the UK have collectively traded for 7013 years, and traded on average for 350 years each. I take a quick look into these, along with a couple of famous UK artisans, who each came from a family of famous creators, but who did not leave a business to be handed down to grandchildren, either.Message me anytime on Instagram, @FlemingNeverDies, or e-mail: AlbionNeverDies@gmail.comCheck out my https://www.youtube.com/britishcultureCheck out my Red Bubble shopSubscribe to my newsletter for update e-mails, random postcards, and stickers: https://youtube.us9.list-manage.com/subscribe?u=b3afdae99897eebbf8ca022c8&id=5165536616Support the show

Quincy Jones Receives Posthumous Oscar, and Daughter Gives His SpeechAt the Governors Awards, Rashida Jones spoke on behalf of her father, who died earlier this month at the age of 91.Before his death two weeks ago, the musician and producer Quincy Jones wrote a speech he intended to deliver at the Governors Awards, where he would receive an honorary Oscar at the ceremony created by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. On Sunday night in Hollywood, his actress daughter Rashida Jones delivered that speech on his behalf before a rapt audience.“As a teenager growing up in Seattle, I would sit for hours in the theater and dream about composing for films,” she said while channeling her father, who was a Black trailblazer in Hollywood: “When I was a young film composer, you didn't even see faces of color working in the studio commissaries.”Nominated seven times, Jones was given a different honorary Oscar — the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award — in 1995, back when these awards were still part of the televised Oscar broadcast. To shorten that show, the honorary awards were spun off into their own event in 2009.Jennifer Lawrence, Angelina Jolie and Jennifer Lopez staked their seats out early while the directors Luca Guadagnino (repping both “Challengers” and “Queer”) and Brady Corbet (“The Brutalist”) compared notes on film formats. The “Succession” stars Jeremy Strong and Kieran Culkin reconnected on the terrace outside the party; both men are supporting-actor contenders; Strong for “The Apprentice,” Culkin for “A Real Pain.” And the stars of “Emilia Perez,” Zoe Saldaña, Selena Gomez and Karla Sofía Gascón, proved to be popular presences in every corner of the ballroom. The first honoree of the night was Juliet Taylor, who has cast more than 100 films over the course of her career including “The Exorcist,” “Terms of Endearment” and “Annie Hall.” While accepting her Oscar, she described her job as being “able to appreciate actors when they're not all that likable and appreciate directors when they're not easy.”Daniel Craig came out to present the Irving G. Thalberg Memorial Award to the producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli, who have served as the stewards of the James Bond franchise for nearly three decades. After taking the reins of Eon Productions from their father, Albert Broccoli, the half-siblings produced the last nine Bond films beginning with “Goldeneye,” Pierce Brosnan's first foray in the role, all the way up to Daniel Craig's final Bond outing, “No Time to Die.”-Kyle Buchanan

In 2005, Daniel Craig was announced as the new James Bond. On the same day, producer Michael G Wilson mentioned that work had already started on Craig's second Bond film. That film would eventually become Quantum of Solace. And it would be remembered less as a film and more as a casualty of the 2007 Writers Strike.  But how much did the strike really affect Quantum of Solace? Striking Out is a new series of Going Rogue about the 07/08 Writers Guild of America strike, exploring the issues of the strike by looking at the films and TV shows affected by it.  CONTENT WARNING: In 2023 Paul Haggis lost a civil court case and was ordered to pay $7.5million to a woman who accused him of assault. What was the very first draft of Timothy Dalton's unmade third film like? Timothy Dalton's third James Bond film is one of the great 'what ifs' of the series, and over the years various incarnations have come to light. Recently, we dusted off the first-ever draft of what could have been Dalton's follow-up to Licence To Kill. Dated July 7th, 1990, this rarely-seen script was penned by Michael G. Wilson and American writer Alfonse Ruggerio. Many of its elements would survive in later films for Pierce Brosnan and Daniel Craig, but the locations and tech elements of this draft lend their own distinct flavour. Join us as we run through the story and discuss the characters, plot, killer robots, and ponder what this film could have been in the early 1990s.  For further coverage of Bond 17 (1990), check out this article on MI6: https://www.mi6-hq.com/sections/articles/bond17-1990 The recording took place on March 16th, 2023 in the USA and Spain.  James Page is a co-founder of MI6-HQ.com and the magazine MI6 Confidential David Leigh runs thejamesbonddossier.com Bill Koenig runs the Spy Command at hmssweblog.wordpress.com This podcast is copyright Pretitles LLC © 2023

Happy birthday, Mr. Bond. Yes, this October sees 007 turn 0060 with the 60th anniversary of Dr No, the film that brought Ian Fleming's James Bond to the big screen for the first time. The celebrations begin this weekend with a series of Bond At 60 events at the BFI Southbank and BFI Imax, then a The Sound Of Bond concert at the Royal Albert Hall on Tuesday October 4, headlined by Dame Shirley Bassey, and the debut of Mat Whitecross' documentary, The Sound Of Bond, on Prime Video on October 5. Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson are the producers who have overseen not one, but two, key reboots of the character, through the Pierce Brosnan and Daniel Craig eras, firmly keeping alive the traditions established by their father, Albert R. 'Cubby' Broccoli. They've been around since the franchise began — Michael cameoed briefly in Goldfinger in 1964, while a very young Barbara toured the world with her father as the movies became a cultural phenomenon in the Sixties — and in this special interview with Empire's Chris Hewitt, the two talk about their relationship with Bond, the movies and actors, through the decades, culminating in the major decision they made with the most recent movie, No Time To Die. Enjoy.

On this 87th podcast I am joined by AwardsWatch staff writer Zach Gilbert to break down the big guild nominations - WGA, DGA and PGA - that are happening this week. With the Writers Guild eligibility list omitted several top contenders, including Oscar frontrunners, Zach and I agree on most of our predictions with a few outliers seeking one of the final spots. Same goes for the Directors Guild, in both the main award and the First Time Feature award, where we are 4/5 in agreement in two very competitive categories. The Producers Guild of America nominations is where things get tough as we align on 8/10 in a year where the Oscars return to a straight 10 nominees. Not even in the first two years of 10 nominees (2009 and 2010) did PGA and Oscar lineup exactly so the race is on between House of Gucci, No Time to Die, Spider-Man: No Way Home, Nightmare Alley, The Tragedy of Macbeth and more for those spots, both at PGA and Oscar. Nominations for the Writers Guild, Directors Guild and Producers Guild are Thursday, January 27. Support for this podcast and the following message comes from MGM Studios' and United Artists Releasing's No Time to Die, produced by Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli, and directed by Cary Joji Fukunaga. Daniel Craig concludes his five-film portrayal of James Bond in No Time to Die. ‎Joining forces with his MI6 team and a new generation of agents, Bond faces the highest stakes of his espionage career and emotionally explores the sacrifices of heroism. Critics are hailing -  “No Time to Die will be remembered for its emotional impact above all.” You can watch it everywhere you rent movies. Holly Gennaro once said to John McClane he needed to wake up and smell the 90's.  By June the 8th 1994 EON Productions was ready to tell the world they had in fact woken up and Bond was back.  While Pierce Bronson was far from a surprise choice, the path that led him to that London hotel conference room on that early day in June was a long and winding one.  Since the last scenes of ‘License To Kill', shot 6 years previously, Bond had frequented court rooms far more than M's office or Q's gallery.  Timothy Dalton, who had stepped in classically as Bond and who was a friend of Brosnan's had bowed out.  So much had changed in such a short amount of time - there was no more Soviet Union, no more wall, no more cold war and with the premier of ‘Goldeneye' EON Productions 17th James Bond picture there was no Cubby Broccoli as sole producer having turned over all production duties to his children daughter Barbara Broccoli and stepson Michael G. Wilson.  What would become of the largest and most profitable movie franchise ever?  Would yet another Bond be able to breakthrough into the digital age?  The answer would lie not just in the theaters but in the game consoles of millions of kids who would be introduced to 007 in a whole new way and pave the way for Bond's fourth decade! So, grab your 64 and can of Jolt cola because it's about that time to sit back and relax Mom & Dad won't be back for at least an hour and Welcome To The Latch Key Kids Present “Breaking Bond Part XX: Goldeneye”

“The Chinese Have A Saying; Before Setting Out For Revenge, You First Dig Two Graves.”  This is where we will start our journey into the 1980's with our favorite 00.  After 1981's ‘For Your Eyes Only' it would mark a full ten years since Sean Connery left the iconic character and over the course of 4 years and three films EON Productions made close to $600 Million dollars (give or take) with Roger Moore at the helm.  Never in movie history had an actor stepped in so gracefully to redefine the undefinable and make it his own.  Gone were the days of Guy Hamilton, Terry Young, Lewis Gilbert, and Ken Adam.  In were the days of John Glen, Peter Lamont, and Michael G. Wilson.  Over the years many will draw a line from this film through the decades to Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan (who would make an appearance on set), and eventually Daniel Craig.  Did you know that despite Roger Moore's epic run through the 1970's his return as 007 in ‘For Your Eyes Only' would be in doubt?  Did you also know that Cubby Broccoli would use this film as the ultimate opportunity to settle a legal score and to once and for all flush an iconic character down the drain or down the smokestack?  Alright, keep your hair on!  Because It's Time, To Sit Back And Relax Mom & Dad Won't Be Back For At Least An Hour!  And Welcome To The Latch Key Kids Presents “Breaking Bond Part XIV: For Your Eyes Only”.

Sean Connery, the Scottish actor whose five-decade-long movie career was dominated by the role of James Bond, has died at the age of 90, according to his publicist. The actor "died peacefully in his sleep," publicist Nancy Seltzer said in a statement Saturday."His wife Micheline and his two sons, Jason and Stephane have confirmed that he died peacefully in his sleep surrounded by family. There will be a private ceremony followed by a memorial yet to be planned once the virus has ended," the statement said.Connery, who was awarded a knighthood in 2000 for his contribution to the arts, played the British spy in seven movies, beginning with "Dr. No" in 1962, the first of the Bond movies. He wasn't just Bond, of course. Connery starred in an Alfred Hitchcock film, 1964's "Marnie," opposite Tippi Hedren; was part of the all-star cast in 1974's "Murder on the Orient Express"; played Indiana Jones' father, in 1989's "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade"; and won an Academy Award for best supporting actor for his performance as Chicago cop Jim Malone in the 1987 film "The Untouchables."But like so many characters in the Bond films, he could never quite escape 007. He gave up the role twice before finally ending his involvement with 1983's puckishly titled "Never Say Never Again."Sean Connery as James Bond in the film Dr No, 1962. Photo / FileJames Bond producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli said they were "devastated" by the news of Connery's death in a statement posted to the official 007 Twitter account."He was and shall always be remembered as the original James Bond whose indelible entrance into cinema history began when he announced those unforgettable words "The name's Bond... James Bond" -- he revolutionized the world with his gritty and witty portrayal of the sexy and charismatic secret agent," the producers said."He is undoubtedly largely responsible for the success of the film series and we shall be forever grateful to him."Scottish First Minister Nicola Sturgeon said she was "heartbroken" to hear of Connery's death."Our nation today mourns one of her best loved sons," she said in a statement. "Sean was born into a working class Edinburgh family and through talent and sheer hard work, became a film icon and one of the world's most accomplished actors."Sturgeon also paid tribute to Connery as "a patriotic and proud Scot," saying it was a privilege to have known him. "He was a lifelong advocate of an independent Scotland and those of us who share that belief owe him a great debt of gratitude," she said.Actor Daniel Craig, the most recent Bond, said Connery had "defined an era and a style" and was one of cinema's true greats."The wit and charm he portrayed on screen could be measured in mega watts; he helped create the modern blockbuster. He will continue to influence actors and film-makers alike for years to come," said Craig in a statement shared by the official 007 Twitter account.Actor Hugh Jackman tweeted: "I grew up idolizing #SeanConnery. A legend on screen, and off. Rest In Peace."Britain's Pinewood Studios, where the Bond films are filmed, tweeted: "Memories of this outstanding actor and his unforgettable embodiment of superspy James Bond will forever be cherished at Pinewood."Bond imageConnery's fame as the dashing spy Bond sometimes proved a double-edged sword. As early as 1965, just prior to the premiere of "Thunderball" -- the fourth Bond film -- Connery testily corrected a Playboy interviewer about concerns over typecasting."Let me straighten you out on this. The problem in interviews of this sort is to get across the fact, without breaking your arse, that one is not Bond, that one was functioning reasonably well before Bond and that one is going to function reasonably well after Bond," he said. "There are a lot of things I did before Bond -- like playing the classics on stage -- that don't seem to get publicized. So you see, this Bond image is a problem in a way and a bit of a b...

Hello dear listeners! Production on No Time to Die has been in full swing for a few months already and fans all over the world anticipate that the film's marketing campaign will rev up in a matter of weeks. Yes, a new James Bond movie looms on the beautiful horizon. That's all fine and dandy, but in order to keep this multi-billion dollar franchise alive, you gotta think long term. Be two steps ahead of the competition. Keep them thinking you're concentrating on one thing when you're actually multitasking, planning what comes after. That's precisely why Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson got in touch with Mathieu and Edgar to start working on Bond 26*. After some very, very productive meetings, the hosts have returned to the studio to share each of their own versions of what the next James Bond movie could be like. And lest it be misunderstood, no stone was left unturned. Matt and Edgar dive deep into their meticulous thought process for all kinds of aspects about the projects: writer, director, cast, locations, action scenes, title song and artist, etc. Make no mistake about it listeners, the hosts express their true visionary bravura and how they can keep the film series going with unmistakably stupendous movies. Failing that, at least they are (relatively) confident their ideas are better than whatever came out of James Bond Jr. Probably. Shake up those martinis because Episode 20 of The Words Are Not Enough is a 2 PART SPECIAL!In Part 1 Griffin (@griffschiller) and Brody (@brodyserravalli) discuss the following:Tomorrow Never Lies1. Bond may be Heading to Norway after-all* Yesterday a Norwegian Bond fan site by the name of James Bond-Magasinet teased "huge Bond 25 news" and today it would seem we have gotten it in the form of a statement from the Norwegian Film Institute. In corroboration with some rumours that were circulating last month, the NFI has been offered a 47 million NOK (Norwegian Krone) grant to a project going by the name "B25" as part of a Tax Incentive Scheme to draw projects with an large international reach to the Scandinavian country (which is about 5.5 million USD). In the statement, Stine Helgeland, the NIF's Executive Director, said “We are pleased that filming of the film with the preliminary title B25 is considering being shot in Norway,” adding that the grant would be “the largest in the incentive scheme's history.” Past recipients of the grant include Paul Greengrass' 22 July (receiving 17.1mil NOK) and Mission Impossible Fallout (receiving 6.3mil NOK). Truenorth Norway were named as the applicants on the grant and it is said that Truenorth would handle production services in Norway for EON.2. Bond 25 to shoot on Digital* Keeping with Scandinavian theme for today's Bond 25 news, Bond 25 cinematographer, Linus Sandgren, seems to have confirmed to ScreenDaily that Bond 25 will be shot on digital during an interview for his latest film, First Man. This would make Bond 25 the second film the franchise to be shoot entirely on digital, following Roger Deakins much-celebrated work on Skyfall. This would also mark a departure for Sandgren, who has almost exclusively shot on film for his American projects.3. Bond in Spain?* According to a report from Archivo 007, Gregg Wilson, the son of Bond producer-Michael G. Wilson, has been spotted in Cadiz, Spain, prompting speculation that he may be there location-scouting for Bond 25 as he has been involved in scouting locations for the series since Die Another Day. Speaking of, Bond fans will remember Cadiz from Die Another Day, where it stood in for Cuba. Cadiz is also set to appear in EON's upcoming feature, The Rhythm Section, which is what may have sparked EON's interest in the location for Bond 25.4. Will Craig be back for Bond 26?* According to an insider at The Sun, despite the rumours surrounding who will step into Bond's shoulder holster after Daniel Craig, Barbara Broccoli has not seriously considered a single name that has been floated, nor has she or her brother and co-producer, Michael G Willson, drawn up a shortlist of names for potential successors. This insider claims that Broccoli has done this out of "loyalty" to Craig, as she supposedly feels looking for a replacement while Craig is still in the job would be "disrespectful" - adding that Broccoli "cannot look beyond Daniel" as "she values everything h has done for the franchise in the past decade". Furthermore, this insider claims that EON has not even officially ruled out Craig doing a sixth film after Bond 25 - although no further information about this detail was given. It's worth noting that The Sun claims this source has dropped several other big Bond scoops in the past but declined to reveal which ones.* With McQuarrie coming back for M:I 7 and 8, potentially a two-parter, Craig's return for 26 could signal that EON intends to do a similar two-part story with 25-26, or at the very least, plans to go head to head with M:I in 2022 with their own "finale".5. Richard Madden Rumours Never Die* Moving on to even more tenuous Bond 26 rumours, according to Express, we may be closer to Richard Madden taking on the role of 007 than previously thought. According to Lorraine Kelly, she bumped into Madden at a Nation Television Award... --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/the-words-are-not-enough/support

The statement says the following: * Michael G. Wilson, Barbara Broccoli and Daniel Craig announced today that #Bond25 will begin filming at Pinewood Studios on 4 March 2019 under the helm of director, Cary Joji Fukunaga with a worldwide release date of 14 February 2020. “We are delighted to be working with Cary. His versatility and innovation make him an excellent choice for our next James Bond adventure," said Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli. * So it seems the True Detective Season 1 and Beasts of No Nation Director Cary Fukunaga will be taking over for Danny Boyle and using the script penned by Neil Purvis and Robert Wade, a story we'll get to in a moment. * Thoughts on this choice and what it could possibly mean for Bond 25?* Neil Purvis and Robert Wade will be taking over screenwriting duties for John Hodge * Following the departure of Danny Boyle from the next Bond installment, John Hodge exited the project as screenwriter. * Apparently Hodge's treatment was a re-tooling of the original Purvis & Wade script that had already been approved by Broccoli and Wilson prior to Boyle and Hodge coming onto the project * Now according to Baz Bamigboye from The Daily Mail and the James Bond news site MI6-HQ.com, Purvis & Wade will be returning to Bond 25. * The writing duo are supposedly touching up the script with changes that reflect the wishes of the producers and Daniel Craig * According to Bamigboye, “There's a keenness for women to be more front-and-centre in Bond 25…" * What do we make of all this and now hearing that Hodge's script was a retooling of Purvis & Wade's does that make us more confident in the overall story they are going for?* Dave Bautista wants back into the Bond franchise * The last we saw of Dave Bautista's henchmen Mr. Hinx in Spectre, he was getting pulled off a speeding train in Morocco, presumed to be killed, thought many fans speculated it might not be the end for the character. * Well, it turns out Dave Bautista himself also believes in the character's survival. * During the press tour for his latest film "Final Score”, which coincidentally also stars former Bond Pierce Brosnan, Bautista commented on the potential return of Mr. Hinx in Bond 25 saying the following: * "We had hopes, and…they had mentioned it. But yeah still have kinda hopes…I hear it's been pushed, so maybe there's a…chance" * He then went on to say, "Yeah I want to be in Bond 25. I've been very open and political about it. Like I've pursued this role. I would love to revive Hinx in Bond 25. I wanna be a part of it because it's a historical film. There's a huge part of me that wants the bragging rights of being that henchman who came back twice, because there hasn't been many. And I wanna be that guy, I wanna be historical, y'know." * With Richard Kiel's Jaws being the only Bond henchman thus far to return in the franchise, playing a part in both The Spy Who Loved Me and Moonraker, Bautista would certainly be making Bond history. * Thoughts on the return of Mr. Hinx in Bond 25 and what are the chances the character ACTUALLY... --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/the-words-are-not-enough/support

The anonymous source said the following: * "Bond needs to keep up with the times and will be looking into Elon Musk's world – spacecrafts, planes that can fly across the earth in an hour, cars turning into submarines. That's what we need to include now. Daniel's stunts are going to move to a new level and have to include things shown in space movies like Interstellar. He is involved every step of the way, as he always is, and is bursting with enthusiasm and excitement.” * Speculation that Bond 25 is looking to film in South Africa may also corroborate Musk's involvement.* Christopher Nolan being eyed to take Bond 25 in a “Completely Different Direction” * An "insider" at Hollywood Life has reportedly caught wind that EON wants to take Bond in a radically "different direction" in Bond 25. And apparently, despite various big names being circulated for the covered directing role, Christopher Nolan is producers' Barbra Broccoli and Michael G Wilson top pick to steer the franchise down this new path. The source added that “The producers don't want him to be the ladies' man he has been known for and actually want him to get married. Everyone feels Christopher would be the best to steer the film in the direction they are seeking.” * This is contrary to comments Nolan has previously made regarding a timeline for joining the franchise. * Quantum, Skyfall and Spectre Production Designer returning for Bond 25 * In an interview with ICG magazine, Dennis Gassner, production designer for every Bond film since Quantum of Solace, let slip that he would be returning to the franchise once again in Bond 25. * With franchises, you have to honor the established elements while meeting audience expectations. I'm about to do my fourth James Bond film, and acknowledging the efforts of Ken Adam and others is a big part."* Rory Kinnear OUT for Bond 25? * It seems Rory Kinnear's role as MI6 Chief of Staf Bill Tanner isn't as locked in as one would have thought. In an interview with The Times, Kinnear said, "Each film they make they say yay or nay. But it's been great fun, and an utterly unexpected element of my life. Further more, the report indicates that Craig has thrown his weight behind Villeneueve has his personal pick to helm the project. * This corroborates with a report from Deadline in June that claimed Villeneuve was one of three front-runners for the coveted job. * However, a more recent report from Deadline has thrown some doubt on Villeneuve's availability, positing that Villeneuve is in early talks with Sony to direct a Cleopatra biopic. This report comes on top of a Dune remake that Villeneuve is also rumored to be attached to.* Thomas Newman Returning for Bond 25 * Omega Underground has allegedly come across a production listing for Bond 25 that, while not detailing a director or story synopsis, appears to reveal that composer Thomas Newman will return to the franchise to score Bond 25. Newman scored Skyfall and Spectre and was previously assumed to be leaving the series with the departure of his frequent collaborator Sam Mendes, but this production list suggests he may be sticking around.* Honor Bernie Casey * Bernie Casey, who played Felix Leiter in the unofficial James Bond film, Never Say Never Again, died September 19th, 2017, at the age of 78 after brief illness.Q-Branch* David Bowie's awkward relationship with Sir Roger Moore * In a new biography by Dylan Jones, ' David Bowie: A Life', there is an interesting tale of when David Bowie befriended Roger Moore. Sometime in the 1970s, Bowie moved to Switzerland (to avoid the oppressive tax regime of the UK at the time) despite not knowing anyone in the country. But 007 was just down the road. Oscar-nominated scriptwriter and novelist Hanif Kureishi provided this anecdote for the book. * One day, about half-past five in the afternoon, there's a knock on the door, and there he was: ‘Hello, David.' Roger Moore comes in, and they had a cup of tea. He stays for drinks, and then dinner, and tells lots of stories about the James Bond films. They had a fantastic time - a brilliant night." * "But then, the next day, at 5.30… Knock, knock, it's Roger Moore. He invites himself in again, and sits down: ‘Yeah, I'll have a gin and tonic, David.' He tells the same stories – but they're slightly less entertaining the second time around." * "After two weeks [of Moore turning up] at 5.25pm – literally every day – David Bowie could be found underneath the kitchen table pretending not to be in.” * Bowie was later offered the role of Max Zorin for 1985's 'A View To A Kill' but turned it down. * Sir Roger Moore's official Twitter has disputed the validity of the story, calling it 'not true at all.'* Brother from Langley* Quick Kingsman 2 review (spoilers allowed)Shaken, but Heard* Top 5 Directors to tackle a bond filmSUBSCRIBE to the Men vs. Movies YouTube channel: www.youtube.com/channel/UCAlhR6RxXQux2LWok1cIL6wFollow us on Twitter: @MenVsMoviesLike us on Facebook: www.facebook.com/menvs.movies/ --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/the-words-are-not-enough/support

Get fitted for your tux because it's time for Episode 2 of The Words Are Not Enough! In this episode Griffin (@griffschiller) and Brody (@brodyserravalli) discuss the following:Tomorrow Never Lies* James Bond Rights * http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-vision/apple-amazon-join-race-james-bond-film-rights-1035539 * Fresh off the presses today is some new development into which company may land the film distribution rights to the highly coveted James Bond franchise. * While Warner Bros. remains in the lead to land film distribution rights, Apple and Amazon have unexpextedly thrown their hats into the ring. * MGM has been looking for a deal for more than two years, and Sony, Universal and Fox had also been pursuing the property, with Warners and Sony the most aggressive. * However, according to sources in contact with the Hollywood Reporter, the tech giants are willing to spend in the same ballpark as Warners, if not much more, for the rights. * They consider Bond one of the last untapped brands (like a Marvel, Pixar or Lucasfilm) that could act as a game-changer in the content space. Apple's and Amazon's inclusion in the chase would indicate that more is on the table than film rights, including the future of the franchise if MGM will sell or license out for the right price. * Sources say newly arrived executives Zack Van Amburg and Jamie Erlicht (former co-presidents of Sony Pictures Television) are spearheading the effort on Apple's behalf - suggesting they may be interested in also bringing Bond to television stating, “In the world of Lucasfilm and Marvel, Bond feels really underdeveloped" * Valuation of the franchise may be anywhere between $2 billion and $5 billion, says an insider. * Other sources insist that, at this stage, Eon producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson remain traditional in their outlook and that theatrical movies are their main concern* Beyonce recording Bond 25 song * Natural when the release date and return of Daniel Craig was announced for Bond 25 the rumor mill started to churn in regards to who will sing the main title song for Craig's final outing. * According to Daily Star, Beyonce is in talks to record the theme song for Bond 25. * The singer has reportedly held meetings with leading Bond producers, and could even rope in husband Jay-Z to perform the title track. * According to a source allegedly close to Beyonce "This is the only project she is remotely interested in right now.” * “To tie-up a deal with Beyoncé for a theme song for Daniel's fifth appearance as 007 would really be the icing on the cake”, an MGM studio executive reportedly added. * It's important to note that the pop star has not confirmed that the rumor is true, in fact when Billboard reached out for a comment, a rep replied simply with “This is a rumor."* Bond 25 Plot details * Over the past couple of days, new details regarding the potential plot of Bond 25 have emerged and needless to say have gotten a lot of people talking. * According to Page Six a Hollywood insider is reporting that "Bond quits the secret service, and he's in love and gets married.” The source continues that “his wife then gets killed,” bringing Bond back into action. * The source says that as the next film opens, they are in wedded bliss. “The film's like ‘Taken' with Bond,” says the source, who adds that the suave spy is trying to avenge his wife's murder.* George Lazenby's birthdayQ Branch* Review/discussion on Becoming Bond in honor of George Lazenby's birthday* Lazenby's subtle but significant impact on the Bond FranchiseArtists we... --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/the-words-are-not-enough/support
