Compartimos dos de las canciones incluidas y novedades de parte de Matt Berninger, Yard Act y The Menzingers. Y también nos hacemos eco de la Segunda Copa del Mundo que acaba de ganar la Selección Española porque estamos felices por ello y porque la unión siempre es motivo de celebración. Pero queremos añadir que nos encantaría que este sentimiento se trasladara a otros aspectos de nuestra sociedad, que saliéramos a las calles con la misma hermandad por la sanidad y la educación públicas, por una vivienda digna, por el alto al fuego de todas las guerras del mundo... por los derechos humanos, para que no se toquen. Leeds band Yard Act recorded their third LP, You're Gonna Need A Little Music, in two separate, months-apart sessions in the U.K. and L.A. split by a tour opening for The Hives. The result is 11 tracks that jump around from the group's trademark English snark -- what singer and lyricist James Smith says is the album's "cynical core" -- to more sun-kissed, optimistic melodies all recorded live in-studio together. We got Smith and bassist Ryan Needham On The Record with WNXP before the record release date.

Yard Act ist eine der besten aktuellen Rockbands aus England. Die Grundlage des Sounds ist Post-Punk. Von dort aus kann es in alle Richtungen gehen. Dit heeft haar geïnspireerd om deze zomer haar eigen all female festival op te zetten: Daisy Chain Fields! James Smith from Leeds band Yard Act met New Zealand comedian Rose Matafeo at Glastonbury festival a couple of years ago when the pair were watching little Simz. Since then, Smith's group has invited Matafeo to sing on their second album, Where's My Utopia?, star in one of their music videos and open for them in their hometown. Indiecast went on as usual last week, but Steven and Ian haven't actually recorded together in about two weeks. (It feels more like six months.) Steven was off recording the audiobook of his forthcoming Springsteen book There Was Nothing You Could Do (out May 28!), and he recounts the experience. (It was hard but rewarding!) (9:45). After a brief tangent about the recent "13 Albums To Know You" prompt that went viral on social media, the guys do a lightning round of news that they missed — a new St. Vincent album, a very Ian-friendly emo festival, a very Steven-friendly pairing of The National and The War On Drugs for a joint tour, and a conversation about whether Yo La Tengo is a jam band (14:20). Gustaf - "Starting and Staring" from the 2024 album Package Pt. 2 on Royal Mountain Brooklyn-based no-wave band Gustaf share the lead single from their upcoming sophomore full-length Package Pt. 2, out April 5th via Royal Mountain. The new album was produced by Erin Tonkon, who worked on David Bowie's final album Blackstar. With its driving bass and anxiety-ridden performance from vocalist Lydia Gammill, it's easy to see why this group is a tour mate of bands like IDLES, Sleaford Mods, and Yard Act.
