On the 62nd Episode of the Album Review Crew of Shout It Out Loudcast, Tom, Zeus & special guest, singer, guitarist and bassist from the Ace Frehley Band, Gene Simmons Band and also Rock City Machine Co, Ryan Spencer Cook, review the 1968 legendary album from Elvis Presley, "NBC TV Special" or better known as the "1968 Comeback Special." By 1968 Elvis had not performed live since 1960. Although, his movie career had been a tremendous success, even making him the highest paid actor in Hollywood, Elvis was not satisfied creatively. His music had been basically soundtracks to his movies and Elvis was frustrated. Since Elvis rocket stardom was born out of his legendary television performance, Elvis and along with young television producer Steve Binder, created a TV Special that would become affectionately known as the 1968 Comeback Special. Ignoring his manager Colonel Tom Parker's insistence that the TV Special be a Christmas theme event, Elvis & Steve Binder created a TV Special that would end up being the highest rated tv show of the year gaining 42% of the television audience. This special brought the KING back! The television special including various types of performances. Elvis performed some of his greatest hits, sometimes alone, sometimes with his original band in an intimate round setting, sometimes in sketches and even with dancers and gospel singers. The songs were varied and styles as well, matching Elvis' versatile appeal. The audience was young and attractive and Elvis wore various outfits, including the leather outfit which has become legendary and synonymous with this performance. Elvis never looked as good or sounded as good as well. The album went to number 8 on US Billboard charts and eventually platinum. There are numerous variations of this album and special releases that include a lot of the songs not featured in the television special. But all versions, include his incredible medley of Trouble / Guitar Man and the medley of his biggest hits like Love Me Tender, Hound Dog, Heartbreak Hotel, All Shook up and more. The album does include his single, If I Can Dream, which may be Elvis' greatest performance of all time. As usual the boys breakdown and dissect the tracks and rank the songs. They then rank the album and the album cover against the previous albums reviewed on the Album Review Crew. This was obviously Zeus' pick. Percussion Discussion Episode 146 - Brian Tichy Joining me today is American hard rock drummer Btian Tichy. Brian has a glittering career so far having played for giants of the rock & metal world such as Whitesnake, Ozzy Osbourne, Billy Idol, Foreigner and Sass Jordan. We talk through segments of his career including a large section on Pride & Glory, an incredible band that include Brian, Zakk Wylde and James Lomenzo, we talk about their iconic performance at Castle Donnington in 1994, this is the only time i have seen Brian play live! Brian gives us some amazing insights and advice throughout this interview as well as some incredible stories, including one about Ozzy Osbourne turning a fire hose on him mid gig!! Of course we had to talk about his current gig playing for KISS legend Gene Simmons in his solo band. Brian, thank you so much for giving up your time so generously!

As many know, Phil is one of the founders of Thee Rock n' Roll Residency here in Nashville. You also probably know that he's a member of both the Gene Simmons Band and the Ace Frehley Band. Veteran drummer Brent Fitz joins us this week for an entertaining talk about his life and career. Born in Winnipeg, Brent  took to music early. After learning drums to a steady soundtrack of bands like RUSH, Fitz was playing the club circuit at age 15. Ultimately, a gig with Canadian band Streetheart gives Brent the confidence to make the leap to Los Angeles in 1996. Brent Fitz   In the 20+ years since arriving in America, Brent Fitz has carved out quite a career. Initially cranking out great tunes with the criminally underrated Union, Brent would join up with LA stalwarts Bulletboys and Vince Neil for road work. Furthermore, this  experience would help prepare Brent for his next challenge, filling the drum chair of Eric Singer in Alice Cooper's band. This long-form interview has lots of great stories from these gigs. Brent's openness and honesty paints a clear picture of what a working musician goes through during a very turbulent time for rock music. As can be seen within KISS fan circles, Brent is at ground zero for two very cool offshoot projects from members of the band. In 2017, he and fellow Slash band mate joined Bruce and Bob Kulick for a performance on The KISS Kruise. The deep cut-laden set was the talk of the Kruise. His position in the Gene Simmons Band has also been a childhood dream come true. Additionally, it was recently announced that Ace Frehley would be using Gene's band as his backing band on an upcoming tour of Australia. As a result of his childhood KISS fandom, it's entertaining to hear Brent's stories about all of these projects. This episode features tons of great stories as well as updates on Gene Simmons, the Kulick Brothers, and Slash. It also underscores the importance in rock history of Streetheart (trust us, it's pretty interesting). Steve makes the most out of a trip to Nashville and lines up a great interview with lead guitarist Phil Shouse from The Gene Simmons Band and Thee Rock N Roll Residency. Phil talks to Steve about his earliest rock n roll memories listening to Aerosmith, Van Halen, The Beatles, and Kiss. They also discuss how he and Jeremy Asbrock founded the Thee Rock N Roll Residency and how their friendship with Ryan Cook led them to the gig with Gene Simmons. KISSmas in July kicks off with an in-depth talk with members of the Gene Simmons Band. Guitarists Ryan Cook, Jeremy Asbrock, and Philip Shouse have been garnering rave reviews since their debut in March of 2017. Those names should be familiar to Decibel Geek listeners and readers as they've made numerous appearances on the podcast to discuss The Big Rock Show, Hair of the Dog, and Guitar Duos. They are also members of Thee Rock n Roll Residency; a weekly covers show that has been wowing Nashville crowds with its spot-on renditions of classic rock hits and deep cuts. Additionally, Thee Rock n Roll Residency has a rotating cast of musicians that come from all eras of rock history. What started as a six show commitment has turned into a full-on world tour with more dates being released recently. In this conversation, the Gene Simmons Band shares the circumstances that led to them being hired. Moreover, they discuss their personal KISStories and their take on the band's history. One of the bigger reasons for the success of the Gene Simmons Band has been the wealth of deep KISS cuts that are being performed. Songs such as Charisma, Got Love for Sale, and Almost Human among many others have been thrilling KISS fans en masse. In this discussion, the guys tell Chris and Aaron how those songs were chosen as well as what songs have been rehearsed and are possibly going to be included in future setlists. Furthermore, they discuss the upcoming addition of drummer Brent Fitz to the band. Brent is a member of the extended KISS family tree; known for his work in the band Union with Bruce Kulick. Gene Simmons plans to release a massive box set later in 2017. The set is to contain a large amount of demo and unreleased material.
