D'Geschicht vum Interview ass bal esou laang, wéi den Interview selwer. Als Virbereedung op de Film Love Me Tender vun der Anna Cazenave Cambet an op den Interview mat der Vicky Krieps hat de Jeff Schinker d'Buch vun der Constance Debré, op deem de Film baséiert, aus senger Bibliothéik gekroopt a vergiess, et an d'Valise ze leeën. Zu Cannes huet en d'Buch nach eemol kaf, just fir et um Sonndeg am Kino leien ze loossen, dat, nodeems en eréischt d'Hallschent dovu gelies hat – no 22 Filmer innerhalb vu 5 Deeg een Effet vun der Middegkeet. Am Bichergeschäft zu Cannes louch et net méi, well hie sech et selwer ewech kaf hat, an zwou Librairien zu Antibes war et och net ze fannen, wouwéinst dann de béise mä effikasse Liwwerservice dee mer all kennen huet missen dru gleewen. Den Interview selwer z'organiséieren war änlech schwéier, als éischt krut eise Journalist eng Ofso, duerno eng Waardelëscht fir ee Kollektivinterview mat der internationaler Press, ma quasi a leschter Sekonn ass et em gelong, net just d'Buch fäerdeg ze liesen, ma och ee One on One Interview ze kréien, dank engem immens effikassen a sympatheschen Attaché de presse. Fir eng laang Geschicht kuerz ze halen: Den Interview huet stattfonnt – a wat d'Vicky Krieps iwwert hir Roll an der Verfilmung vu Love Me Tender, hir nei Produktiounsfirma Viktoria Productions an d'Absence vum neien Jim Jarmusch Film op der Croisette ze soen huet – dat lauschtere mer elo.
This week, Justin and John Michael Heath from "EAP Society" discuss some recent Elvis news including the discovery of a longer, extended clip of behind the scenes footage from the making of Love Me Tender, confirmation from Disney of more Elvis songs returning in the Lilo & Stitch remake (review coming next week!), and then the guys talk about their recent adventures having their attention drawn to two artists Elvis openly acknowledged as influences but are only infrequently discussed: vocalists Arthur Prysock and John Gary, the former a semi-operatic soul singer whose dulcet tones blurred genre lines between jazz, R&B, pop and country, and the latter a remarkable tenor whose strong, controlled and nuanced voice clearly resonated with Elvis. Then for Song of the Week, John highlights Elvis's recitation of Hank Williams's "Men with Broken Hearts" and explores the way Elvis seemed to draw from music to explore and articulate his feelings about real life. Meanwhile, Justin tries his best to make amends with the 1961 minor hit ballad, "I'm Yours," a track laden with Floyd Cramer's heavy organ, after learning where songwriters Don Robertson and Hal Blair intended the song to be used.

Send us a textFilmshake is Wild at Heart and Weird on Top! But if you've listened to us for even five minutes you already knew that. This episode, we're talking 1990s David Lynch quasi-road movie, Wild at Heart. It's got Filmshake favorites, Nicolas Cage and Laura Dern, but do we like it? Well, one of us thinks it's..."yucky." And fair warning: he says "yucky" about this movie as many times as Lynch references The Wizard of Oz IN this movie. We also talk our punishment film, 1990's Nuns on the Run. Just who are these nuns, and why are they on the run, anyway? Only one way to find out! Watch the movie? No, that's yucky! On the 62nd Episode of the Album Review Crew of Shout It Out Loudcast, Tom, Zeus & special guest, singer, guitarist and bassist from the Ace Frehley Band, Gene Simmons Band and also Rock City Machine Co, Ryan Spencer Cook, review the 1968 legendary album from Elvis Presley, "NBC TV Special" or better known as the "1968 Comeback Special." By 1968 Elvis had not performed live since 1960. Although, his movie career had been a tremendous success, even making him the highest paid actor in Hollywood, Elvis was not satisfied creatively. His music had been basically soundtracks to his movies and Elvis was frustrated. Since Elvis rocket stardom was born out of his legendary television performance, Elvis and along with young television producer Steve Binder, created a TV Special that would become affectionately known as the 1968 Comeback Special. Ignoring his manager Colonel Tom Parker's insistence that the TV Special be a Christmas theme event, Elvis & Steve Binder created a TV Special that would end up being the highest rated tv show of the year gaining 42% of the television audience. This special brought the KING back! The television special including various types of performances. Elvis performed some of his greatest hits, sometimes alone, sometimes with his original band in an intimate round setting, sometimes in sketches and even with dancers and gospel singers. The songs were varied and styles as well, matching Elvis' versatile appeal. The audience was young and attractive and Elvis wore various outfits, including the leather outfit which has become legendary and synonymous with this performance. Elvis never looked as good or sounded as good as well. The album went to number 8 on US Billboard charts and eventually platinum. There are numerous variations of this album and special releases that include a lot of the songs not featured in the television special. But all versions, include his incredible medley of Trouble / Guitar Man and the medley of his biggest hits like Love Me Tender, Hound Dog, Heartbreak Hotel, All Shook up and more. The album does include his single, If I Can Dream, which may be Elvis' greatest performance of all time. As usual the boys breakdown and dissect the tracks and rank the songs. They then rank the album and the album cover against the previous albums reviewed on the Album Review Crew. This was obviously Zeus' pick. So as Eddie Murphy says, "We got to win this race!" and we want to thank you, thank you very much, you're a beautiful audience thank you! We first saw Eddi Reader singing with the Gang Of Four on Whistle Test in 1982. This eventful pod traces her story from seven kids in a two-bedroom council flat (“me in the toilet with a guitar singing Your Cheating Heart”), to the Scottish folk clubs, busking with circus acrobats on the Left Bank, to radio jingles, life as a backing singer and the rapid rise of Fairground Attraction who reformed last year, 34 years after they split in 1990. It's highly entertaining from the kick-off, not least …. … snogging the Earl of Moray's son during Dylan at Blackbushe. … the jingles she sang on ‘80s radio ads. … what she learnt from Annie Lennox when touring with Eurythmics. … backing singer stage-wear etiquette. … performing Love Me Tender aged eight in the school classroom. … singing Three Drunken Maidens and Lord Franklin at the Irvine Folk Club, over the road from Amanda's Wet T-Shirt Night. … busking in Paris and the songs that pulled the most money (eg Tupelo Honey and All Along the Watchtower). … “men you put on the shoulder-pads for.” … what Billy Bragg called “a civilian”. … Chou Pahrot, Cado Belle, Café Jacques, Stone the Crows and other great lost Scottish bands. … Hamish Imlach's advice about how to project onstage. … how to use a pencil as a pop-shield. … and her Grandad “who loved his wife so much he nearly told her”. Proza Love Me Tender v orisani konstelaciji pod vprašaj seveda postavlja samo funkcijo in družbeno-politično vlogo matere in materinske ljubezni.
On December 28th, 1956, on the south side of Chicago, 12-year-old Patricia Grimes and her 15-year-old sister Barbara Grimes left their home to go to the Brighton theater to watch Elvis Presley's movie Love Me Tender for the 11th time. The sisters were seen at the theater by classmates and then seemingly vanished. Despite being the subjects of one of the largest, most expensive, and most labor-intensive manhunts in Cook County history, and even with a personal plea from Elvis Presley himself, they were never seen alive again. Elvis lebt. Was also macht ihn aus, den Mythos Elvis? Day, your daily dose of knowledge from Wikipedia’s finest articles. The featured article for Wednesday, 8 January 2025 is Elvis Presley.Elvis Aaron Presley (January 8, 1935 – August 16, 1977), known mononymously as Elvis, was an American singer and actor. Known as the "King of Rock and Roll", he is regarded as one of the most significant cultural figures of the 20th century. Presley's energized performances and interpretations of songs, and sexually provocative performance style, combined with a singularly potent mix of influences across color lines during a transformative era in race relations, brought both great success and initial controversy.Presley was born in Tupelo, Mississippi; his family relocated to Memphis, Tennessee, when he was 13. His music career began there in 1954, at Sun Records with producer Sam Phillips, who wanted to bring the sound of African-American music to a wider audience. Presley, on guitar and accompanied by lead guitarist Scotty Moore and bassist Bill Black, was a pioneer of rockabilly, an uptempo, backbeat-driven fusion of country music and rhythm and blues. In 1955, drummer D. J. Fontana joined to complete the lineup of Presley's classic quartet and RCA Victor acquired his contract in a deal arranged by Colonel Tom Parker, who managed him for the rest of his career. Presley's first RCA Victor single, "Heartbreak Hotel", was released in January 1956 and became a number-one hit in the US. Within a year, RCA Victor would sell ten million Presley singles. With a series of successful television appearances and chart-topping records, Presley became the leading figure of the newly popular rock and roll; though his performative style and promotion of the then-marginalized sound of African Americans led to him being widely considered a threat to the moral well-being of white American youth. In November 1956, Presley made his film debut in Love Me Tender. Drafted into military service in 1958, he relaunched his recording career two years later with some of his most commercially successful work. Presley held few concerts, however, and guided by Parker, proceeded to devote much of the 1960s to making Hollywood films and soundtrack albums, most of them critically derided. Some of Presley's most famous films included Jailhouse Rock (1957), Blue Hawaii (1961), and Viva Las Vegas (1964). In 1968, he returned to the stage in the acclaimed NBC television comeback special Elvis, which led to an extended Las Vegas concert residency and a string of highly profitable tours. In 1973, Presley gave the first concert by a solo artist to be broadcast around the world, Aloha from Hawaii. However, years of prescription drug abuse and unhealthy eating severely compromised his health, and Presley died unexpectedly in August 1977 at his Graceland estate at the age of 42.Presley is one of the best-selling music artists of all time, with sale estimates ranging from 500 million records to over a billion worldwide. He was commercially successful in many genres, including pop, country, rock and roll, rockabilly, rhythm and blues, adult contemporary, and gospel. He won three Grammy Awards, received the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award at age 36, and has been inducted into multiple music halls of fame. Ryan and Bec, for their annual team-up and the last TCBCast of 2024, decided to take a listen to Elvis' second album, "Elvis" (also known as "Elvis No. 2" in some regions) which, believe it or not, has not technically been reviewed on TCBCast! Together, they ponder where this sophomore effort, recorded all in a weekend in early September 1956 just as Elvis was preparing to make "Love Me Tender", stacks up by comparison to his iconic debut record. Bec digs up more info on the recording sessions since the last time these were discussed, including other songs considered and some of Elvis's special celebrity guests who were present on one of the days. Meanwhile, Ryan debates which of the trio of Little Richard covers featured comes closest to matching the incomparable Richard's high bar. But first - Bec springs trivia on Ryan! There's no song of the week this week due to their busy holiday schedules, but after the album discussion, the duo briefly chat about their favorite Elvis Christmas songs and Elvis holiday memories. Bec joins Justin for a look back at one of the few Elvis albums she had early in her fandom, the iconic 1959 release "A Date With Elvis." Released while Elvis was overseas in Germany during his military service, "A Date" in some respects serves as a companion piece to the earlier "For LP Fans Only," compiling a handful of tracks previously unavailable on the LP format, while also having a more intriguing and novel design: a gatefold that allowed you to hang the album over and count the days until Elvis' return, or even more photos and thoughts from "Elvis" inside! And how does this oddball collection of tracks from Sun Records, Jailhouse Rock, Love Me Tender and a random EP hold up as a listening experience? All that and more on this episode! Then, for Song of the Week, Bec gets in the holiday spirit with "Who Needs Money?" from "Clambake" and Justin doubles down, going deep on Elvis' 1971 version of the traditional 18th century Christmas hymn, "O Come All Ye Faithful." Gurdip and Olivia sit down for a super fun discussion picking one song from each of Elvis' narrative films (from Love Me Tender through Change of Habit) from within the movie itself that they especially enjoy, not including those just on the soundtrack or recorded for but cut from the final film. They also discuss the title, cover design and release date for Lisa Marie Presley and Riley Keough's new book "From Here to the Great Unknown," set to release later this year and speculate on what kind of book it may be. There's no Song of the Week this week due to a scheduling issue, but this is still a full-length show. SOTW returns next week with Justin and Bec! The music of Elvis comes alive in “All Shook Up”. Inspired by Shakespeare's “Twelfth Night”, “All Shook Up” follows a small Midwestern town that is thrown into a frenzy with the arrival of Chad, a good-looking, motorcycle-riding, roustabout, who rides from town to town with a guitar on his back, blue suede shoes on his feet, and a song in his heart. Repressed by their conservative mayor, the town begins to come alive once more under Chad's influence. Lovers meet, woo, pursue, and more, all in one zany night that will change the town forever. Featuring such Elvis hits as "Love Me Tender", "Heartbreak Hotel", "Can't Help Falling in Love", "Jailhouse Rock", "Blue Suede Shoes", "Don't Be Cruel", and "It's Now or Never", “All Shook Up” is a rocking, heartwarming tale about following dreams, opening up to love, and the power of music.

Gurdip returns this week for a lively discussion about the soundtrack to Elvis' 1968 film "Speedway," which co-starred Nancy Sinatra, who features on two tracks, making her one of the few artists to ever appear on an album with Elvis during his lifetime. The guys dig a bit into the recording sessions (which, minus Sinatra's contributions, were primarily done at MGM's soundstage instead of at RCA Studio B as usual) and how this move affected the production quality of the album, the poor choice of promotional single material, unfortunate timing of the film & soundtrack's release, and ponder how Elvis' final soundtrack LP for a fictional film managed to, like the first movie album from 11 years earlier, end up with nearly half the songs featured not even appearing in the film itself. The guys also catch up on a bunch of listener emails, and then for Song of the Week, Gurdip selects Elvis' unique 1957 interpretation of the spiritual "I Believe," while Justin goes much lighter, picking "Poor Boy," recorded for and featured in his first feature, Love Me Tender. REDIFFUSION. It was a chilly December night in 1956 when young Barbara and Patricia Grimes, dedicated fans of Elvis Presley, set out to watch "Love Me Tender" for the eleventh time. Their disappearance sparked a desperate search, fueled by countless sightings and reports. Yet, despite the intense media frenzy and police efforts, the case was riddled by confusion, misinformation, and potential corruption that have obscured the truth for decades. In this episode, we discuss the web of possible suspects, including the enigmatic figure of Benny Bedwell, the rumors of sex trafficking rings, and the disturbing confessions that only added layers to this mystery. Author and historian Troy Taylor is my guest, and he offers his insights from his book "The Two Lost Girls: The Mystery of the Grimes Sisters". Gurdip is out unexpectedly so special guest Darin Evans joins Justin once again, this time for a loose, lighthearted (and unexpectedly beefy) ranking of all of the Elvis movie title songs, from Love Me Tender to Change of Habit; weighing the songs themselves, how they're used in their respective movies, and how well they represent the films they're from. The team also react to listener feedback regarding the recent Elvis and Country Music miniseries as well as recent news including the Christmas at Graceland lineup (airing November 29!!) and Dolly Parton's new Elvis-themed duet with Ronnie McDowell, and Darin gives his thoughts after having seen "Priscilla" - FYI, Justin has also finally seen "Priscilla" and his initial impressions bonus episode with John Michael Heath of EAP Society is up over at the TCBCast Patreon. For Song of the Week, due to Darin jumping in at the last minute since Gurdip had an unexpected emergency at the day job, Justin's the only one with a song of the week, but brings the funky "Find Out What's Happening" from Elvis' 1973 Stax sessions. Elvis. Ever heard of him? Well, we have to. Mostly from movies and TV and all of music history and also the last three episodes we did on the guy. But guess what? We're doing another one! This week, Andrew and Dan dicuss chicken tenders and how much Elvis love them.
When Dorothy has a date with Eddie, she hopes the only thing that comes from it is a swift ending. But after a night of passion, she decides to pursue a strictly physical relationship. The question is, will that be enough to keep her satisfied, or is Sophia right and she'll eventually want more? In the meantime, will Blanche and Rose be supportive of their Little Pals, even if that means going to the slammer? We'll find out all of that and more in today's episode, Love Me Tender.
I lied about my music selection. I really enjoyed Elvis with "Love Me Tender." I have suffered from a lack of adult supervision for a long time. But the "Suffering" has been good. Most of all, this podcast says warm cookies and cold milk ''are good for us. And so are Oreos.

Life in America in the 1950s often conjures up images of an idyllic suburban life. Fueled by unprecedented economic growth after the lean and stressful years of World War II, Americans enjoyed the stability and prosperity that they craved. The innocent and wholesome portrayal of the nuclear family was often depicted in programs like Father Knows Best and Leave it to Beaver as one where every problem could be solved with a good ol' heart-to-heart talk and a slice of apple pie. But look closer, and there are cracks in that façade. The polio epidemic terrified families of the early 1950s, the Cold War raged, and there was little room for divergent views in what had become a homogeneous society. And crime? It existed, even if television shows tried to pretend that it didn't. Elvis Presley rocked America socially and literally with his huge hit Heartbreak Hotel in January 1956. Less than a year later, Presley would have a legion of fans and a new movie called Love Me Tender. And it was on a freezing cold night in December of 1956 when two teenage sisters, Barbara and Patricia Grimes, disappeared off South Archer Avenue in Chicago after having seen Love Me Tender for the twelfth time at the Brighton Park Theatre. Their disappearance and subsequent story would be hailed as the crime that stole Chicago's innocence.
