Break out the tin foil hats, movie theater popcorn, and lots of pins — this one's a doozy. In Part Two, investigative journalists Mandy Matney and Liz Farrell break down one of the strangest lawsuits they've ever seen: Weldon Boyd, the man who shot and killed Scott Spivey, is suing attorney Mark Tinsley. The claim? That Tinsley manufactured a "false narrative" and chased media attention for his own "celebrity status" and "self-aggrandizement" (a phrase used nine times, for the record). With a June 10 motions hearing looming, we unpack Tinsley's motion to dismiss, a bizarre Netflix subpoena for a documentary that doesn't exist, and a fishing-expedition motion to compel naming nineteen people — including the governor and… Mandy, Liz & Beth. Sound familiar? We connect the dots between this case and the coordinated legal war launched against LUNASHARK® in November 2025. Because if we've learned anything in five years, it's that there are no coincidences. Let's Dive In…
[Part One of Two] In Part One of this two-part episode, investigative journalists Mandy Matney and Liz Farrell begin sharing their reporting on the Horry County Police Department's internal affairs investigation into the what went down during the (shockingly corrupt) Scott Spivey case. In September 2023, 33-year-old Scott Spivey was shot to death on Camp Swamp Road in Loris, South Carolina, by North Myrtle Beach business owner Weldon Boyd and Weldon's friend Bradley Williams. After calling his mama and his lawyer from the scene, Weldon made another call before police arrived: to Horry County Deputy Chief Brandon Strickland. On this episode, we break down the investigation within the investigation. It's not enough that Horry County police repeatedly broke protocol to help protect Weldon from being held accountable for Scott's death, seasoned investigators on the scene completely mismanaged one of the most basic things to an investigation: the crime scene log. Was it sloppy police work? Or was it yet another way to help a buddy? Let's Dive In…
This week, the girls are back for another monthly advice column and covering everything from friendship dynamics and bridal/baby shower burnout to pregnancy body image and baby timing expectations. Chelsey gives advice on a question about dealing with the mental side of watching your body change (as she is actively going through it), while Jaci shares thoughts on showing up for your friends without feeling resentful or drained. They dive into listener dilemmas about one-sided friendships, social obligations, boundaries, dating expectations, and the pressure to always be the “good friend” even when your social battery is fully dead. Don't forget: there's at least one man in every episode doing something very, very wrong. At least he'll have the honor of having this episode named after the situation he caused.!!! This week on the What We Said Podcast, Chelsey opens up about being pregnant and some of the struggles that have come along with it, from feeling sick and exhausted to navigating such a huge life change while still trying to show up for her three boys at home. The girls talk honestly about the parts of pregnancy people don't always prepare you for, how isolating it can feel at times, and the pressure to still “do it all” while your body is constantly changing. We end with a reminder from Jaci that you don't need a perfect patio layout or tablescape to host people this summer. Sometimes the best memories come from simply inviting people over, even when the backyard is only half done.// WHAT WE ARE WEARING/MENTIONING // https://shopmy.us/shop/whatwesaidpodcast SHOP OUR MERCH: https://shop.dearmedia.com/collections/what-we-said !!! [Part Two of Two] How does a pro–Alex Murdaugh troll theory end up in The New Yorker? In Part Two of Episode #150, investigative journalists Mandy Matney and Liz Farrell trace exactly that. James Lasdun's May 26 New Yorker story leaned into a years-old lie: that LUNASHARK®, Clerk Becky Hill, and attorney Mark Tinsley conspired to plant an "anonymous" email and get the “Egg Lady” booted from Murdaugh's jury. None of it is true — and this week, the receipts come out. For the first time, Mandy and Liz reveal the full story of whistleblower Christine Avery: the real timeline, what the team actually told her, demonstrating how the "Plan A / Plan B" framing falls apart. They expose the "narrative washing" that smuggled Christine's name onto a “Beach v. Greg Parker” witness list, the felon's Ai-generated "slop" and the lazy reporting that let a manufactured theory go national. As South Carolina barrels toward Murdaugh 2.0, this is how disinformation gets dressed up as journalism — and how we plan to punch back. Let's dive in…
[Part One of Two] In Part One of this two-part episode, investigative journalists Mandy Matney and Liz Farrell break down James Lasdun's Becky Hill piece and explain why it reads less like journalism and more like the latest brick in Team Murdaugh's three-year 'narrative-laundering' project. From the recycled "pizza conspiracy" to the false claim that Mark Tinsley has known Christine Avery since 2020, this is what happens when a writer for the New Yorker wanders onto a Murdaugh chessboard perhaps without realizing he's a playing piece. Mandy and Liz connect the dots between Dick Harpootlian's subpoena-power threats, Greg Parker's attorneys, the Egg Lady juror's book written with a convicted felon, and the recycled smears designed to discredit the credible voices standing between Alex Murdaugh and an acquittal at his retrial. Receipts are coming in Part Two — out Friday. Get your pins ready... Let's Dive in…

In this episode of Girl Talk with Tay, I sit down with Annabel Hay, founder of Clutch Glue, to talk about building one of Shark Tank's most viral pitches, creating a product from scratch, owning your intellectual property, and raising capital without losing control of your company.Annabel shares the story behind Clutch Glue, which started after a wardrobe malfunction made her realize traditional fashion tape wasn't designed for sweat, movement, or real life situations. She spent four years developing a liquid fashion adhesive that is sweat resistant, water soluble, hypoallergenic, vegan, and non toxic. We also talk about the early days of building the company, including launching with 5,000 units stored in her parents' garage and packing orders by hand from her bedroom with the help of friends. Annabel shares how a simple 10 second TikTok showing her fixing a falling spaghetti strap completely changed the trajectory of the business after the video hit 9 million views overnight and sold out the company's inventory almost immediately. The conversation dives into entrepreneurship, bootstrapping a business, and why owning your IP and patents matters so much when building a long term brand. Annabel explains why founders should avoid shortcuts with formulas they don't fully own, how patents protect longevity, and why investors care so much about intellectual property ownership. We also discuss raising capital, startup funding, preparing for Shark Tank, protecting equity, choosing the right investors, and why she ultimately turned down a $400,000 investment deal after the show to maintain control of her company. Annabel shares insights on viral marketing, customer loyalty, scaling a product based business, and what it really takes to build a sustainable brand from the ground up.xo, Tay⸻Follow Annabel Hay!

This week, the girls are reading your stories about the moment you knew you married the right person. After falling down the Love Trapped Podcast rabbit hole about a man who seemingly chose the wrong partner and is still paying the price, Jaci and Chelsey wanted to hear the opposite: the moments that made you realize, without a doubt, that you picked the right one. Listeners share stories of husbands showing up during life's hardest seasons, or small acts of thoughtfulness that meant more than any grand gesture, confirming they had found their forever person. If the podcast that started this conversation was a cautionary tale, these stories are the antidote. A reminder that good partners do exist, and sometimes the clearest signs are found in the little things.!!! [Part One of Two] As Houston, Texas accused murderer Lee Gilley awaits word on his fate after fleeing to Milan, Italy, investigative journalists Mandy Matney and Liz Farrell are on the case. Will Italy grant him asylum, or treat him as a criminal to be extradited back to the United States? New details have emerged about Lee's plan to escape his Houston trial for allegedly killing his wife, Christa Bauer Gilley, and their unborn child in October 2024. Lee's brother, Matt Gilley, testified that he didn't help Lee flee on May 1, but said Lee looked different at their mother's deathbed in April — heavier, bearded, with long hair. Matt's Zoom testimony came in an emergency custody hearing for Lee and Christa's two young children. Christa's family fears Lee's relatives will take the kids to Europe, yet a Harris County judge ordered the children returned to Texas. Meanwhile, two of Lee's attorneys move to withdraw and we dig into the 1983 US–Italy Extradition Treaty while Lee's Italian attorney Monica Grosso says that Lee is exhausted from all his recent travels. We're exhausted too, but Let's Dive in…
This week, the girls are back with another advice column after recapping Jaci's quick Vegas trip and catching up on life. The listener submissions, centered around determining who might be overreacting in a situation, sparked a lot of strong opinions, especially around friendships and the weird expectations people place on each other during big life moments. One listener writes in after her friend tells her not to get engaged during the same year as her wedding because she doesn't want the attention taken away from her. This sends Jaci and Chelsey into a full discussion about “wedding year” culture and whether anyone actually owns an entire calendar year for ANY major life events. The girls also get into questions about navigating changing friendships, feeling unsupported during major life transitions, and figuring out when someone is crossing the line with green card marriages. !!! This episode is really personal and a little different- a friend is giving me an astrology reading!! In this episode of Girl Talk with Tay, I sit down with astrologer Yael Terramel Weisbach for a deep conversation on astrology, emotional processing, spirituality, and learning how to live in alignment with yourself through different seasons of life. Yael shares her “Planetary Balance Method,” explaining how different planetary energies reflect core parts of who we are, including the Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, and Mars and how understanding these energies can lead to greater self awareness, fulfillment, and emotional clarity. We also talk about the danger of suppressing emotions in the name of positivity or spirituality, and why avoiding sadness, fear, or discomfort can disconnect us from our intuition and authentic selves. Yael explains the importance of grounded spirituality, emotional honesty, and allowing yourself to fully process difficult emotions instead of constantly trying to “fix” or bypass them. The conversation dives into somatic emotional processing, connecting emotions to the physical body, and practices like Tonglen that help transform pain into healing and compassion. We also discuss life transitions, astrological cycles, burnout, and how understanding your current season of life can help you know when to push forward and when to slow down and rest.Such a thoughtful and eye opening episode on astrology, emotional healing, nervous system awareness, and creating a life that feels more aligned and authentic.xo, Tay⸻Follow Yael Terramel Weisbach!

And then there's the classic nightmare many of us have unfortunately lived through: accidentally sending a text about someone directly to them. I'm so excited for this week's episode! I'm sitting down with my friend Rachel McGinn, who many of you probably know online as Rachel Joi. Rachel was truly one of the original creators sharing Western fashion online in the early days of Instagram, and in this conversation, we talk about how much life has changed since then. From fashion and content creation to motherhood, ranch life, music, and silversmithing, Rachel shares what it has looked like to evolve through completely different seasons of life while still staying true to herself. We also talk about confidence, identity, creativity, and the reality that sometimes growth means letting go of old versions of yourself in order to step fully into the life you've prayed for.Rachel also shares how she taught herself silversmithing through YouTube and online maker communities after becoming a mom of four, and why continuing to chase your own passions alongside parenthood matters. This episode is an honest conversation about reinvention, perspective, and learning to embrace the season of life you're in rather than constantly looking backward.Be sure to subscribe/follow the show so you never miss an episode!Connect with Rachel:Visit her websiteFollow on Instagram @racheljoiConnect with Jessie:Follow on Instagram @ofthewest.co and @mrsjjarvFollow on Facebook @jobsofthewestCheck out the Of The West websiteResources & Links:Episode 21. It happened on a Wednesday… Investigative journalists Mandy Matney and Liz Farrell break down the 27-page Alex Murdaugh murder conviction reversal that essentially boils down to two words: Blame Becky. They wrestle with the uncomfortable truth that money seems to help a defendant's chances at the state's highest court — while sticking to their belief that the evidence still points to one person who went down to the kennels and lied about it. In a unanimous 5-0 decision, the South Carolina Supreme Court reversed Alex Murdaugh's double-murder conviction, ruling that Colleton County Clerk Becky Hill "placed her fingers on the scales of justice." They also unpack the court's new guardrails on financial-crimes testimony at retrial, including the gutting decision to call Tony Satterfield's words unfairly prejudicial. Plus: reactions from Eric Bland, Mark Tinsley, AG Alan Wilson, and AG candidate David Pascoe. Same case. Same evidence. Same liar. Round Two starts now. Let's Dive in…
Longtime listeners of the What We Said Podcast know that Jaci and Chelsey are moms, loud and proud. But as this episode proves, motherhood also comes with plenty of moments you'd rather never speak about again. This week, listeners wrote in their most controversial and shocking mom stories. Classics like kids accidentally saying horribly rude things to strangers in public (and the desperate cover-ups that follow) to looking away from your baby for one second only to find them casually chain-smoking. Oh, and yes, someone straight-up relieving themselves, in a cup, to avoid waking up their child. Birth control this month is complimentary to the What We Said podcast (jk we love being moms).!!! This episode turned into a really honest conversation about sensitivity, confidence, weird energy, and learning not to absorb every opinion people throw at you. In this episode of Girl Talk with Tay, I sit down with Dr. Jenelle Kim, Doctor of Eastern Medicine, ninth generation practitioner, and author of The Korean Art of Living Well, for a conversation on longevity, mindfulness, and ancient wellness practices that support modern life.We discuss Jenelle's “Three M's” of wellness, medicine, movement, and mindset and how these pillars impact beauty, hormones, energy, and overall health. Yes, another guest episode so soon — and this one is a good one. Jaci and Chelsey are joined by Payton Sartain Ross, lifestyle and fashion creator, host of the Note to Self podcast, and curator behind Chez Ross. Fresh off getting married to MLB player Joe Ross, Payton opens up about life as a WAG (and what that even means), navigating the uncertainty that comes with career slumps in professional sports, and adjusting to an entirely new season of life. She also shares thoughts on a possible career pivot of her own, including going back to school, why influencing appealed to her in the first place, and why she's considering walking away from it altogether. [Part Two] Join us May 15 at 10am in York, SC for Mandy's Beach v. Parker non-party contempt hearing — wear pink. And we start with wild BREAKING DEVELOPMENTS about Lee Gilley's flight to and detention in Turin, Italy as Texas Judge Peebles orders he forfeit his $1M bond. Then on On Part Two of #147, investigative journalists Mandy Matney and Liz Farrell dig into a stunning new lawsuit filed by former Horry County Police Captain Danny Furr — yes, that Danny Furr, the detective who arrested JP Miller's pastor daddy Reginald Wayne Miller back in 2006. Represented by attorney Jonny McCoy, Furr's 35-page complaint paints HCPD as a sloppy, retaliatory, good-old-boy operation that punishes anyone who tells the truth. We unpack the bizarre "un-arrest" of Harold Worley's son-in-law Thomas Wade Long, the suspiciously timed promotions of officers tied to the Scott Spivey investigation, Chief Chris Leonhardt's hiring of his childhood friend as captain, secret internal affairs investigations launched in retaliation, and the moment Furr was allegedly banished from county property after going to county council. The case is instructive — and infuriating. Let's Dive in…
[Part One] Lee Gilley — the Houston man accused of murdering his wife Christa Bauer Gilley and their unborn baby — has fled the country… to Milan, Italy! On today's episode, investigative journalists Mandy Matney and Liz Farrell break down how a capital murder defendant out on $1 million bond cut off his ankle monitor on a Friday night, flew to Canada, then to Milan on fake documents under the alias "LeJeune Jean Luc Olivier," and is now begging Italy for asylum to dodge a death penalty Texas wasn't even seeking. How did Harris County pre-trial services miss this for three full days? Why did prosecutors barely fight bond in the first place? And what does it mean that Lee hired Dick DeGuerin — the lawyer behind the defenses of Robert Durst and David Koresh? Plus: the "Unicorn Killer" precedent that took years to resolve, the lies hiding in Lee's own polygraph, and the war on women playing out in Houston courtrooms. Put on Some Purple For Christa… And Let's Dive in…
This week on the What We Said Podcast, the girls are back with another advice column episode, diving into your dilemmas. Listeners wrote in asking how to deal with gifts you definitely don't want to keep (and the clutter guilt that comes with them), how to navigate mom guilt in a world where way too much is expected of women, coming to terms with the possibility that your family or future might not look the way you once imagined, and many more juicy questions. Along the way, Jaci and Chelsey also share their thoughts on the latest hit series False Prophet and the devastating realities so many women have faced while living in cult environments like the one depicted on the show.// WHAT WE ARE WEARING/MENTIONING // https://shopmy.us/shop/whatwesaidpodcast SHOP OUR MERCH: https://shop.dearmedia.com/collections/what-we-said !!! It's been a while since Jaci and Chelsey have taken a trip down memory lane, and this time it's less about how they met (we've covered that before) and more about how their lives — and the podcast — have evolved. They get into what it was really like starting What We Said, the blog that walked so the podcast could run, and all the random lore that's built up along the way. Why pink and blue? Who stole Chelsey's car? And how does Jaci keep ending up in the middle of scandals? If you've ever wanted the inside scoop on the girls, this episode answers it all.!!! On today's episode, investigative journalists Mandy Matney and Liz Farrell share their latest reporting on the Charity Beallis case out of Bonanza, Arkansas. In December — just a day after her final divorce hearing from Dr. Randy Beallis — Charity was found dead in her home next to her two 6-year-old twins, Maverick and Eliana. Dr. Beallis denied any involvement in the deaths of his soon-to-be ex-wife. And information about the investigation has not only been sparse … It's bizarre. Today — as they continue to seek answers in Charity's case — Mandy and Liz look at the 2012 death of Shawna Beallis, Dr. Beallis' second wife who also died of a gunshot wound. Shawna's death was ultimately ruled a suicide. A look in the case file, however, raises serious questions about how the investigation into her death was conducted. Let's Dive in…
On today's episode, investigative journalists Mandy Matney and Liz Farrell have to share a little warning first: What you're about to hear today is NOT for kids' ears. Which is sad to say because it's about law enforcement officers and what they do at the workplace. In October 2020, an Horry County Police Officer, applying to work for Highway Patrol, was given a polygraph test as part of a pre-employment screening at South Carolina Department of Public Safety. The results of the test turned out to be so shocking that officials there reached out to the Horry County Police Department to let them know that they had a problem — problems that included sexual misconduct of officers, masturbation at work, drunk driving, sexting photos of genitals while in uniform and even potential child abuse. According to several sources close to the situation, this polygraph is what led to the outing of what is referred to among current and former officers as the Green Sea 14 — a group of officers, plus firefighters, who were having sex on duty and at police facilities. As Mandy and Liz continue to dig into what Green Sea 14 means, who was involved, how far up in ranks the officers went and why it seemed to be swept under the rug by leadership, today they share what they found in the investigation file of one officer and what they think it says about the department as a whole, as well as those with the power to fix the problems. Let's Dive in…

In Part Two of Episode 145, investigative journalists Mandy Matney and Liz Farrell dig into two stories about power, accountability, and the systems that protect the wrong people. First, they take you inside the April 21 Horry County Council meeting, where former officer Kevin Suggs and Jennifer Spivey Foley asked council members to return law enforcement authority to a sheriff who answers to voters — and where Chairman Johnny Gardner compared a historically corrupt police department to… litter on Highway 501…? Then (21:00), they unpack the bombshell Harris County prosecutors dropped in the Christa Bauer Gilley case: alleged affairs, an alleged Reddit post seeking a college-age M4F, DDF, FWB hookup, alleged plans to flee to Mexico, alleged homophobic slurs hurled at his own child, and a chilling theory from prosecutors that Lee Gilley may have tried to poison Christa months before her death. Christa's medical and autopsy records may be the key to everything at the June trial and we plan to be there exposing all we can to sunlight. Let's Dive in…
Investigative journalists Mandy Matney and Liz Farrell are hopeful that South Carolina will pass a law criminalizing coercive control abuse … eventually … maybe. Ugh. After the tragic death of Mica Francis in April 2024, we all got a crash course in the horrors of coercive control abuse because of what Mica's estranged “Pastor” JP Miller is accused of doing to her during the final 18 months of her life. Mica repeatedly sought help from the Horry County and Myrtle Beach Police Departments in JP's alleged stalking and harassment of her, but over and again the police told her there was nothing they could do. In the meantime, three coercive control bills continued to languish in the General Assembly, which is almost 90 percent men. Last week a hearing was held in subcommittee to discuss the latest iteration of the bill, dubbed Mica's Law. Liz and Mandy talk about how that went and what they think will happen next. Needless to say, South Carolina's women should be angry … again. Let's Dive in…
Would you rather tune in to this week's episode of What We Said… or—actually, that's your only option. Jaci and Chelsey are reading through some of the most impossible questions from the classic two-option game, and things get tricky fast. Some start easy, like flying private alone or first class with your friends (What good is first class if my sistas can't sit? - J. Cole I think), but then it escalates to dilemmas like choosing one permanent vacation spot forever or traveling the world in luxury but never returning to the same place twice. Some questions require real thought, most lead to overthinking, and every single one is likely something we'll never have to deal with. Yay for fake scenarios!!!!! This week's topic is dating nightmares — and it might be the most relatable episode yet for women. You know those moments that immediately make you rethink dating entirely? Like showing your date a picture of your best friend and him casually responding with “she's hot.” How about waiting until ~ spicy ~ time for a confession that he maybe should've cleaned up a little better… And of course, it wouldn't be an episode about men being horrifying without one casually reminding you on the drive home that he could, in fact, unalive you — just a completely normal thing to say, right? If there's one thing about boys, it's that they truly cannot keep thoughts to themselves, and this episode is full of the kind of stories that make you question why we ever give them a chance in the first place.!!! Last week, investigative journalist Mandy Matney showed up in Cherokee County Courthouse in Gaffney, South Carolina, for a hearing related to her request that her deposition in the Mallory Beach civil conspiracy case be held in the offices of her lawyers or Beaufort County Courthouse — somewhere secure. But when the hearing began, the attorneys of billionaire gas station owner Greg Parker — who is a defendant in the case — AMBUSHED Mandy, a non-party in the case. Instead of the court hearing arguments in favor of each side's motions, Debbie Barbier immediately called Mandy to the stand in a highly unusual and confusing move that was clearly meant to intimidate, silence and berate a journalist whose opinions Greg Parker doesn't like. Debbie, by the way, is not only one of Greg Parker's many attorneys in this case but also the attorney for Alex Murdaugh co-conspirator Cory Fleming. Interesting how that came around, right? On today's episode, investigative journalist (and Mandy's co-host of True Sunlight) Liz Farrell gives a rundown of what happened in the courtroom and shares her thoughts about Debbie's invasive and dishonest questioning of Mandy and Greg Parker's continued retaliatory use of the court system, which … South Carolina just allows it, if you're rich enough. Let's Dive in…
This week Jaci and Chelsey are joined by special guest Dr. Suzy Welch, creator of The Values Bridge, to dive into what really drives us at our core. The girls both took the assessment (you should too!) and break down their results with Suzy's help — from the values they naturally prioritize to the ones they wish they were living out more fully. The test goes beyond surface-level personality traits, giving a deeper look at how your values show up in real life, where you might feel out of alignment, and how that impacts your decisions, relationships, and overall sense of fulfillment. It even highlights where your values work together — or clash — and why that tension can feel so confusing. In this mashup from GT 37 then GT 36 our dynamic duo revisits their March 8th deep dive into the Spivey immunity hearing — including a hilarious breakdown of the defense's star pharmacologist, a.k.a. "Dr. Bird Brain," whose courtroom debut was as baffling as his THC-and-songbird research. Then, from February 12th, Mandy and Liz take stock of the national news overload, confess to their reality TV escapes (Suddenly Amish, anyone?), and weigh in on the possibility of a new Murdaugh trial.
