Let's be real—summer can be one of the hardest seasons to stay alcohol-free. Between the barbecues, beach days, boozy vacations, girls' weekends, and pool parties, it can feel like every single event is soaked in rosé, White Claws, and mimosas. I remember thinking, “How am I supposed to get through the entire summer without drinking?” It felt impossible—until I actually tried it. In this episode of The Hello Someday Podcast, I'm teaming up with Suzanne Wayre, host of The Sober Mom Life Podcast (and one of my favorite people to talk to), to give you the real talk and support you need to actually enjoy a sober summer—without white-knuckling your way through it. Have you ever heard someone say, “Only people with a problem with alcohol stop drinking” or “Life without wine is so boring”? Yeah. Me too. The truth is, there are a lot of flat-out lies floating around about what sobriety is really like—and if you've been scared to take a break from drinking, chances are you've believed at least one of them. I know I did. But here's the truth: most of the stories we tell ourselves about what life without alcohol would look like... they're just that. Stories. Myths. Outdated assumptions passed down by a drinking culture that tells us wine is self-care and tequila is confidence in a bottle. In this week's episode of The Hello Someday Podcast, I'm joined by Karolina Rzadkowolska—certified alcohol-free life coach and author of Euphoric: Ditch Alcohol and Gain a Happier, More Confident You—to call B.S. on 10 of the most common myths about sobriety. If you've ever wondered what happens to your friendships when you stop drinking, you are so not alone. Because when alcohol has been the glue holding your social life together, stepping away from it can feel like pulling a thread that unravels everything. In this episode of The Hello Someday Podcast, I sat down with Dr. Kimberly Horn, research psychologist and author of Friends Matter, For Life, to talk all about how to build and nurture friendships that actually support your alcohol-free life — and why connection is crucial for your emotional health and sobriety journey. I asked Dr. Horn to share practical, research-backed tools you can use to create meaningful connections and friendships in sobriety — even if you're feeling lonely, awkward, or like you're starting over socially. If you've ever tried to “just have one” or “only drink on weekends,” you're not alone. Most women I work with try moderating their drinking before they ever take a full break from alcohol.  I did it too—for years. I set all the rules: only wine with dinner, no drinks during the week, only on special occasions. And I broke all those rules. Over and over. In this episode of The Hello Someday Podcast, I'm joined by my amazing friend and former client, Marriott. She was where so many women are—trying to moderate her drinking so she'd never have to give it up completely. But eventually, like me, she realized that moderating alcohol wasn't actually working... and it wasn't actually making her happier. I asked Marriott, now the community manager in my Sobriety Starter Kit program, to share how to recognize when moderation is doing more harm than good—and what to do instead. Together we break down the truth about drinking in moderation, why it's so damn hard to sustain, and how choosing to step away from alcohol fully—even just for 100 days—can lead to real peace, freedom, and joy. If you're worried about your drinking and wondering how your doctor can help, you're not alone. So many women I talk to want support—but they're unsure what to say, how it'll show up in their medical file, or whether their doctor will even take them seriously. You might worry about being judged, dismissed, or told to “just cut back” or “go to AA.” That's why I asked Megan Popp, a family nurse practitioner with almost six years of alcohol-free living and 15 years of recovery from an eating disorder, to join me on the podcast. She's the founder of Northside Forsyth Family Medicine & Geriatrics and brings not only clinical expertise—but also lived experience—to this conversation. I asked Megan to share how to talk to your doctor about your drinking, what to say (and not say), and how your primary care provider can actually support your recovery. I'm Casey McGuire Davidson, a life and sobriety coach for high-achieving women who are sober curious or ready to break out of the drinking cycle. I host The Hello Someday Podcast because I know how hard it is to juggle work, marriage, kids, anxiety, and overwhelm—and still feel like alcohol is the only thing holding you together.  In this episode, you'll get practical advice you can use right away to start advocating for your health, even if you're nervous to bring up your drinking. The goal of this episode is to help you feel empowered and prepared. Whether you're experiencing anxiety, sleep issues, physical symptoms, or just feel in your gut that alcohol might be part of the problem, here's how to talk to your doctor and get real support—not judgment. Moderate Drinking Wherever you may be in your journey, attempts to moderate drinking are a part of (almost) everyone's story. It's a relationship we spend years nurturing. It has your back, it's always there, and it always gives you what you need. Until it doesn't. You may know today's guest as the superstar host of the Hello Someday Podcast. And, believe it or not, she had all the same fears and anxieties that you have when she was facing the thought of quitting drinking. She worked at a Fortune 500 company, had the husband, and the kids and had a hard time wrapping her head around a drinking problem. Like you have probably done over and over again, she first tried to moderate drinking. You know what I'm talking about, all the rules you put in place for yourself to try to force you to not drink too much. I'll only drink on the weekends I won't drink until after 5 I'll only drink beer, NO liquor Only on special occassions! I know, my friend, I did it, too. Lucky for us, Casey started her journey with baby steps. She decided to quit for a little while then built her alcohol-free life from there. Little by little she eased herself into long-term sobriety and you can hear all about what worked for her, and what didn't, and what might work for you in this episode.   Links mentioned in this episode:  Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/addictionunlimited Book A Call With Angela: addictionunlimited.com/call Hello Someday Podcast w/ Casey Davidson: https://hellosomedaycoaching.com/podcast/ Other Podcast Episodes About Moderation: Moderation, Gray-Area Drinking, and the Stages of Alcoholism Signs You Should Stop Trying to Moderate Your Drinking Rate, Review, & Follow on Apple Podcasts “I love Angela & Addiction Unlimited Podcast.”

“Maybe you should reevaluate your relationship with alcohol”.   That's what my mother said to me when I was 23 after I told her I had spent a very long night on my bathroom floor throwing up bile. She might have said it again when I was 25 and jumped off the stage at my sister's wedding, tripped and slid across the dance floor on my knees in my maid of honor dress. And possibly for a third time when I shared that I had thrown up (on myself) in a taxi on a business trip at the age of 29. Oh, and a business colleague of mine was also in the cab..at 8am...on a Wednesday.  Mom was right. I definitely needed to examine my relationship with alcohol. But at the time there wasn't a framework to do that if your relationship with alcohol was problematic but you didn't identify as an “alcoholic” and had no interest in abstinence-based 12-step programs. Luckily, the world has changed a lot in the last 20 years. Amanda E. White, a licensed therapist and the creator of the popular Instagram account @therapyforwomen, is a big part of that change.  Amanda developed a resource called Not Drinking Tonight: The Workbook to help therapists, coaches and individuals examine one's relationship with alcohol by pivoting away from the question “Am I an alcoholic?” and instead consider “Would my life be better without alcohol?” I'm a big fan of Amanda's work and have interviewed her twice before on The Hello Someday Podcast. In episode #91 we talked about her first book, Not Drinking Tonight: A Guide to Creating a Sober Life You Love, and tools to heal your relationship with alcohol, boundaries, self care, self compassion, and so much more. And in episode 130, we talked about therapy for women and why women seek out therapy for support, the most important factors in determining positive outcomes for therapy, red flags to watch for if a therapist isn't the right fit for you, and why women often are not taught the foundational skills, they need to process difficult emotions. Amanda is here to share how to examine your relationship with alcohol and decide if it's working for you or if you're ready to take a break from drinking.  For full show notes and to access resources mentioned in this episode, head over to www.hellosomedaycoaching.com/148 Ready to drink less + live more? High-achieving women can struggle to set boundaries. If you're managing an endless to-do list and many responsibilities you likely have a tendency to over-deliver, over-give, people please and ignore your own needs instead of setting strong boundaries.  While you may get positive reinforcement from doing all the things for all the people (especially by those who benefit from your over-giving like your boss, colleagues, spouse, kids, family and friends), having poor boundaries is a recipe for burnout (and over drinking).  In fact, high-achieving women often suffer from perfectionism, imposter syndrome, self-doubt, anxiety and the inability to set healthy boundaries with others.  Creating healthy boundaries is an important skill to master as you're quitting drinking and yet it's something that many women who struggle with alcohol find difficult.  So I invited Terri Cole to join me on The Hello Someday Podcast to talk about how you can become a boundary boss and honor your own needs and desires. Casey McGuire Davidson grew up moving around the globe with parents that worked as US diplomats. While it provided some amazing experiences it also planted the seed that she needed to be constantly performing at a high level. Being the child of important people made it feel like she couldn't mess up.  As an adult she led a high achieving life in the corporate world and the hypervigilance from childhood continued. She found that drinking helped her deal. She was basically having a bottle of wine or more 365 days a year and was oblivious to the effects of her drinking. The signs were her 3am wakeups that she treated with Ambien and anti-anxiety medication which were actually symptoms of alcohol withdrawal. When getting pregnant with her first child, she stopped drinking and things felt like they had gotten better so the behavior moved back to the same place it had been before. It wasn't until her daughter was 2 and her son was 8 before she finally found recovery and even did so while navigating a stressful corporate job. Today Casey's a Certified Professional Life and Sobriety Coach, the creator of The Free 30-Day Guide to Quitting Drinking and the host of the top rated Hello Someday Podcast, the podcast for busy women ready to drink less + live more. Casey specializes in working with women with full calendars and overflowing to-do lists, who are doing all the things and then coming home and drinking to forget about all the things.Episode ResourcesHello Someday Coaching |hellosomedaycoaching.comConnect with CaseyInstagram |  @caseymdavidsonFacebook | @hellosomedayConnect with The Courage to ChangePodcast Website |lionrock.life/couragetochangepodcastPodcast Instagram |@couragetochange_podcastYouTube |The Courage to Change PodcastTikTok |@ashleyloebblassingamePodcast Email |podcast@lionrock.lifePodcast Facebook |@thecouragetochangepodcast

Like Wendy, Casey specializes in working with women with full calendars and overflowing to-do lists, who are doing all the things and drinking to forget all the things. Casey shares her own story of finding freedom from alcohol and all that was possible for her after she left wine behind.  She explains how so many of the reasons she thought she needed to drink were just problems caused by the drinking itself. Wendy and Casey discuss their personal post-alcohol transformations and discuss why so many of their clients seem to embark on similar transformative journeys after alcohol -- including a newfound ability to live a life in accordance with their personal values and an incredible injection of energy and self-confidence. “Quitting drinking was literally my worst case scenario in life,” says Casey Davidson. “I desperately loved red wine, and I didn't want to give it up, but I knew it was an issue.” Casey explains that before she quit drinking, she was consuming more than a bottle of wine a night, seven days a week. She told herself that the wine was a necessity, that it was the only thing helping her cope with her stressful corporate job and being a mother to her two young children. But at a certain point, Casey realized her mental health was at stake, and so she cut wine out for good.    Now, Casey is a Certified Professional Life & Sobriety Coach, host of The Hello Someday Podcast and the creator of the Free Sober Girl's Guide to Quitting Drinking. Casey specializes in working with busy, successful women who are ready to drink less and live more. She tells listeners that many of her clients come to her saying they want to quit drinking forever….and Casey stops them right in their tracks. Instead of setting a “forever” goal, Casey instead encourages clients to stop drinking for 100 days. This tangible number gives clients the opportunity to create space between themselves and their drinking, so they can better understand how healthy and fulfilled they can feel without alcohol.   Tune into today's episode of FRIED. The Burnout Podcast for a tough, yet powerful conversation with Casey about alcohol and burnout. Learn about Casey's own recovery journey, how to expand your social environment to promote sobriety, and the importance of adding sober treats into each and every day regardless of your relationship with alcohol.   Quotes • “I feel like burnout and over drinking are really tied together because drinking increases depression and anxiety and feeling like one extra thing is going to break the camel's back and a lot of people drink as a coping mechanism, not even realizing that when you drink too much you wake up at 3am with crushing anxiety and a racing heart rate and just feeling like complete garbage.” (02:50-03:25) • “For so many women and I know for myself, I thought the alcohol was helping me. I thought my bottle of wine at night was my only reward, the thing that was holding me together.” (04:00-04:12) • “Alcohol is not the solution and it's actually preventing you from really taking care of yourself, really setting boundaries, really digging into what your body needs, what your mind needs, what's not working for you in your life.” (11:12-11:26)  • “So many women are in this gray area of struggling with alcohol, trying to limit it, trying to moderate it, and nobody talks about it. But, if someone actually decides to take a period away from drinking or to look at their relationship with alcohol, they are a million times ahead of so many women. It is brave, it is something incredible that you're doing. It's like deciding to run a marathon.” (36:00-36:28) • “In the year I stopped drinking, I made more new friends that I'd made in the decade before.” (44:40-44:45) • “In my first month not drinking, I saved $550. In three months, I saved $1,650. And five and a half years later, I've saved $36,000 not poisoning my body.” (47:34-47:48)   Links https://hellosomedaycoaching.com/ https://hellosomedaycoaching.com/podcast/ https://hellosomedaycoaching.com/30-day-sober-guide/   https://www.instagram.com/caseymdavidson/ https://www.linkedin.com/in/caseydavidson/   XOXO, C   If you know that it's time to actually DO something about the burnout cycle you've been in for too long - book your free consult today: bit.ly/callcait   Podcast production and show notes provided by HiveCast.fm

Today marks ONE YEAR since I started this podcast! I can't believe it. When I look back on the past year, I've been a little scared everytime I release an episode but mostly happy and grateful. I'm amazed to see women like you listening and reaching out and telling me that the podcast is helping them. Launching this podcast has been incredible and one of the most exciting and satisfying projects that I've ever done.  In the past year I released 57 episodes, with 46 incredible guests and we've hit just under 70,000 downloads! I've also released 13 solo episodes on topics that I think are really important in helping women stop drinking like strategies for your very first week, mistakes a lot of women make when quitting drinking and all the things I've learned in the 5 years since quitting drinking. But most importantly, I want to say THANK YOU for taking time out of your day to listen to this podcast.  Thank you for reaching out and telling me the parts that helped you, made you laugh or helped empower you or feel less alone. In this episode,  I'm going to share some of my absolute favorite moments of the podcast over the last year. The things my guests have shared that really stuck with me, inspired me, gave me new coping tools, and made me think and rethink my own ideas, perceptions and approaches.  I hope you enjoy listening to some highlights from the podcast over the last year and I hope you take away some fresh insight and inspiration to keep going. What is Tapping or The Emotional Freedom Technique? How does tapping work to manage stress and anxiety?  Can you use tapping to relieve negative emotions that can lead you to drink or tap to reduce drinking cravings? Did you know you can tap with your children to help calm them and release overwhelming emotions? If any of these questions spark your interest, today's episode is for you.  My guest is Kate Moryoussef, a UK based EFT, Emotional Freedom Technique, Coach. Kate helps busy moms manage overwhelm and stress.   EFT Tapping has been referred to as psychological acupressure.  It's a 5-step technique for anxiety relief. I had heard of tapping but never tried it before this conversation with Kate.  Following our podcast interview I hired Kate to walk me through the tapping techniques for 3 sessions.  We did the sessions over zoom (with me sitting in my office with coffee in the morning in Seattle and Kate settled in after dinner with her family in Manchester, UK).   I loved the process of tapping. It felt like a massage - but one in which I was able to tap on a problem I was having and where I felt stuck.   I felt more relaxed after our sessions and I uncovered a lot of fears and limiting beliefs that were holding me back that I didn't know existed. They were in my subconscious - yet impacting my thoughts and choices each day.   By our third session I felt like I'd made some major breakthroughs in the thoughts and feelings I was carrying around with me everyday - and I was able to set some down and get some more emotional distance from them.  Kate describes EFT Tapping as a practical self-help method that involves using the fingers to gently tap on the body's acupuncture points along the meridian lines of Chinese medicine.  EFT Tapping helps you tune in to the negative patterns that form around uncomfortable thoughts, feelings, or troubling memories. You ‘tap' on the correct pressure points while bringing the thoughts or emotions into consciousness. The aim is to find relief, relaxation, and promote healing around the emotional or physical issues that are holding you back. For issues with drinking, you can tap around your cravings and triggers.  To get you started Kate created a tapping video specifically for women dealing with drinking cravings for The Hello Someday Podcast listeners.  You can find the video at www.hellosomedaycoaching.com/11. In the podcast you'll hear what parts of the “drinking cravings” tapping sequence made me nervous while working through it, and how I understood the process better and felt better by the end.  I love talking with Kate. She lives in Manchester, UK with her husband, four kids and two dogs. She's a wellbeing coach trained in Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) and Emotional Freedom Technique (tapping).  As a coach Kate works with women to find more emotional freedom, happiness, fulfillment and health. She believes in choosing to focus on what brings you joy and continued happiness, removing shame and guilt that many women feel in their life.  Kate is passionate about wanting to help women rediscover their inner voice, tap into their expansive potential and realise themselves outside of their family dynamic. She wants to help women recognize what's holding them back and teach them to hear and then listen to their inner guidance and connect to a force they didn't know they had.    Show Notes: https://hellosomedaycoaching.com/11/ Connect with Kate Moryoussef www.coachingbykate.me.uk ‎The Ambitious Mum Podcast Instagram: Kate Moryoussef (@coaching_by_kate_) Facebook: Coaching by Kate   Connect with Casey McGuire Davidson www.hellosomedaycoaching.com Casey @ Hello Someday Coaching (@caseymdavidson) Get The Free Sober Girl's Guide to Quitting Drinking – 30 Tips For your First 30 Days
