Rom. 12:11 not lagging behind in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord In today's live to love encouragement from Rom. 12:11, I want to turn the spotlight on the phrase “fervent in spirit.” As Paul thought about the Roman's service to the Lord, he was moved by the Holy Spirit to encourage them that their service of worship to God should be fervent in spirit. The idea conveyed in the word fervent is that of a pot of boiling hot water. You've seen this, haven't you? The water starts boiling and the surface is moving as the bubbles rise to the surface and steam bursts up. It's the exact opposite image of the idea conveyed in “lagging behind” or lacking spirit. Our love for God and for others is to be burning hot because it is from our spirits which are joined to Christ. I am calling you to live to love with Jesus. Apart from Him, certainly we will lag behind in diligence. We get tired of loving. We lose our motivation and fall short of the glory of God. Jesus told us this would happen when He told His disciples they could not bear fruit for God's glory apart from Him. Dear brothers and sisters, Jesus lives in us. His love for God and for His body is boiling hot. That fervency drove Him to heal, comfort, teach, give, serve, and finally to the cross so our flesh and lack of spiritual stamina would be put to death. When He was raised, He rose like the the bubbles rise in boiling water. It was the boiling hot love of God that raised Jesus so that His fervency would be expressed in our lives as from our spirits, united with Christ, we receive a love for God and others that explodes with the fire of the Holy Spirit. How would your love for God and others be described? Is it cold? Is it luke warm? Would you like for it to boil for the glory of God? If so, then look to Jesus in you and consider His love that lives in you. When you meditate on His word, like this verse in Rom. 12:11 and offer yourself as a living, holy sacrifice to God for His glory, the Holy Spirit will turn up the heat in your spirit, and you'll experience His boiling love for others. Five Star (also styled as 5 Star) are a British pop group, formed in 1983 and comprising siblings Stedman, Lorraine, Denise, Doris and Delroy Pearson. Between 1985 and 1988, Five Star had four Top 20 albums and 15 Top 40 singles in the UK, including the Top 10 hits "System Addict" (1986), "Can't Wait Another Minute" (1986), "Find the Time" (1986), "Rain or Shine" (1986), "Stay Out of My Life" (1987) and "The Slightest Touch" (1987).  They won the 1987 Brit Award for Best British Group.  Doris Pearson, the eldest of the three Pearson sisters, was born in Brent, London. She was the choreographer of the group, teaching the other members of Five Star the dance routines to their hits. She, like the other members, sang backing vocals and wrote songs for Five Star albums.   Her first self-penned song, an uptempo pop track "Don't You Know I Love It", appeared as a b-side to their second UK Top 10 and biggest US Billboard Hot 100 hit, "Can't Wait Another Minute", and later popped up on their multi-million selling 1986 album, Silk And Steel. She also contributed to two consecutive albums, writing one song for each project with brother Delroy: "Knock Twice" from Between The Lines and "Someone's in Love" from Rock the World. The latter track was chosen as the lead single for the album in the US and was a top 40 hit on the Hot R&B Singles chart.   Her most notable input to a Five Star project came in 1990 when Doris took lead vocal for the first time on a UK single, "Treat Me Like a Lady" and again on its follow-up "Hot Love". Pearson also wrote and sang a third track "That's the Way I Like It", which followed the usual Five Star song format.  The final time Doris appeared as lead vocalist for Five Star was on the Heart and Soul project, released in 1995, for which she contributed another three tracks. "I Give, You Give", notably the most upbeat of the three, was released as a single in that year, and reissued in 1996 as a club remix. Seine ersten früheren musikalischen Schritte waren dabei allerdings wenig glamourös. Vor T.
