"I chose the recording of a single Taiko drummer at the morning ceremony held everyday at the Meiji Shrine in Tokyo, Japan. I discovered that there is a Taiko drum performance during the annual Autumn Grand Festival at the entrance of the Meiji Shrine in the Yoyogi Park and used this as inspiration to create a powerful rhythmical drumming piece. "The beginning of the recording is used at the start of the piece, where a single slow taiko drum beat gradually accelerates, blending with my drum sounds as the track progresses. The tempo of the piece was taken from 3 single drums strikes in the middle of the original audio track. "I wanted the listener to feel that they were standing listening outside, so I used the end of the track without any drums and looped it in the background to create the outdoor atmosphere. The title of the work TOMOE is the name of the ancient symbol often used to decorate the large Taiko drum heads." Taiko drumming in Tokyo reimagined by Amanda Stuart.

After effectively creating the Soulsborne genre and having a wild amount of success with it, one of the most celebrated developers of the 21st century decided to tinker the formula once more. And, again, to great success. We're going back to 2019, to a stealth action game that picked up so many game of the year awards that particular year. We're talking Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. On this episode of Stealth Boom Boom, we take a look at the early days of FromSoftware and how it took the studio close to two decades to achieve overnight success. We also discuss a YouTuber making the Loaded Axe and Loaded Umbrella in real life, as well as the link between this game and Tenchu. Of course, there's some chat on the differences between this game and Dark Souls / Bloodborne that were highlighted in pre-launch interviews... and there's some talk on the dreaded difficulty discourse that comes up around every From Software game launch. In our review, you'll hear some chat on the advantages of taking a stealthy approach and then giving a boss a Shinobi Deathblow, luring moronic enemies away from the herd, the sheer relief after you've stabbed an enemy and downed them, the frustratingly good peripheral vision of enemies, trying to pick off a group one-by-one, lobbing bits of pot off a wall, eating sweets to remain unseen, being a Sengoku Spider-Man with the grappling hook, The Last Samurai starring Tom Cruise, feel the rhythm to break the other guy's Posture (and the joy when that happens), nonstop trial-and-error, Perilous Attacks, breaking rhythm with the Mikiri Counter, the Nighjar's acrobatics and woo, dirty tactics with the Shinobi Prosthetic, Dragonrot and resurrection, the sheer amount of items and skill trees and menus, grinding for skill points, Genichiro Ashina (and then Genichiro, Way of Tomoe), the autumnal environs of Senpou Temple and immortality, a story that's out of time (and has cutscenes), micro narratives, and one nasty sword. After all that, we take you through what some of the critics were saying about the game around the time it came out, and then we give you our final verdicts on whether Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is a Pass, a Play, or an Espionage Explosion. For those who would like to play along at home, we'll be discussing, reviewing and dissecting Hitman GO on the next episode of Stealth Boom Boom.IMPORTANT LINKS TO THINGS

Together, Ali and Philip explore countercultural aspects of embodiment, the importance of challenging societal norms, and the need to advocate for a shift towards present-centered awareness.Central to the conversation is the profound impact of the pelvic bowl, a core element of Philip's teachings. Drawing inspiration from cultures that value the body differently, Philip highlights the concept of Hara in Japanese Noh theater. He traces the historical shift in Western culture from the belly as the thinking center to the current emphasis on the head, revealing a narrative of mistrust in the body.Sensitivity emerges as a core theme of the conversation, which Philip positions as the foundation of intelligence. Ali and Philip delve into the subtleties of staying “dropped in” to the pelvic floor, stressing the gentle and patient approach required for restoring sensitivity, especially in individuals who have experienced trauma. Throughout the episode, the exploration of embodiment, cultural shifts, and the profound connection between the body and the world converges into a call to action. The duo inspires listeners to nurture sensitivity, embrace radical wholeness, and reclaim their true intelligence, fostering the evolution of both individual and collective consciousness.EXPLORATION POINTS:Ali and Philip discuss the geography of intelligence and the significance of the pelvic bowl as the base of experiencing our wholeness.Philip traces the d/evolution of Western culture from valuing the belly as the center to the current emphasis on the head and mistrust of the body. They discuss sensitivity as the foundation of intelligence and explore the nuances of restoring sensitivity, particularly in trauma survivors.Philip unpacks the fallacy of independence, and vividly describes the self as being in constant felt-relationship with the world. The conversation ultimately advocates that we recognize and learn to live from our full intelligence as a key to cultural evolution. FOR MORE PHILIP SHEPHERD:BIO: Philip Shepherd is recognized as a leader in the global embodiment movement. He is the creator of The Embodied Present Process™ (TEPP), which provides both potent insights into how our culture desensitizes the body, and a series of over 150 practices to help people renew their sensitivity to the world and reclaim their calm, centred presence in it. He shares TEPP worldwide through in-person workshops and Facilitators Trainings, and has articulated the need for a new, more embodied way of being in two books: Radical Wholeness and New Self, New World. Both books identify the causes, perils and challenges of our culture's disembodiment. Philip's personal path to embodiment includes a two-year journey as a teenager, during which he traveled alone by bicycle through Europe, the Middle East, Iran, India and Japan. He has also studied classical Japanese Noh Theater; co-founded an interdisciplinary theatre company; written two internationally produced plays and a television documentary; designed and built several houses; co-founded an arts magazine called Onion; played lead roles on stages in London, New York, Chicago and Toronto; and earned a reputation as a coach, both with individual clients seeking a deeper experience of embodiment, and for corporate clients seeking to improve their presentation skills. He developed TEPP with his co-director and wife Allyson Woodrooffe, who also shares the practices in person. His website and online courses are found at EmbodiedPresent.com. 長いお休みをいただきました後、今の想いを話してみました。
Started in 2004 on the banks of the Nila River (Bharathapuzha), Vayali was initiated by a group of young men to preserve the dying culture of Valluvanadan, a former princely state that presently covers Palakkad, Malappuram and Thrissur districts. The region is well-known for its folk art culture, folklore and classical dance forms such as Kathakali and Mohiniyattam. Over 40 members of the band make use of percussion instruments made entirely out of bamboos, such as flute, dan truong, ‘seven holes', bagu, short drums and peepi. However, It wasn't until 2007 that Vayali members started making use of the ‘poor man's timber' for its musical compositions. A Japanese artist named Tomoe had met them in Irinjalakuda, eventually inviting them to the Rhythm Festival. “We stayed with Japanese bamboo artists at Mount Fuji and came back with new ideas,” Vinod. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/gmbwithkay/message

We're talking about two central genres of Medieval Japanese literature—the warrior ballad and Noh drama. We'll see two characters from The Tale of the Heike again, including the valiant female warrior Tomoe. This time, she's a mournful ghost.https://readjapaneseliterature.com/2021/12/22/episode-4-yoshitsune-ballads-and-tomoe-drama/
Taoism Mini-Story Text Hello, this is AJ. Welcome to the mini-story for "Taoism." * * * * * There was a girl, a very happy girl...a very beautiful girl, an amazing girl. She had a big smile. There was an amazing, beautiful, intelligent, wonderful girl. Her name was Tomoe and she wanted to fight a gorilla. What was her name? Her name was Tomoe. She was Japanese. What did Tomoe want to do? Tomoe wanted to fight a gorilla. What did she want to fight? A gorilla, Tomoe wanted to fight a gorilla. So first she contemplated her goal. What did she do? She contemplated her goal. She thought about her goal calmly and slowly. What did she contemplate? Her goal, she contemplated her goal. What was her goal? Her goal was to fight a gorilla. Did she want to be nice to a gorilla?
Taoism Point-of-View Text Hi, this is AJ. Welcome to the point of view stories for "Taoism." Same story, but this time we start with "Since last year..." * * ** * Since last year Tomoe has wanted to fight a gorilla. She has wanted to fight a gorilla starting last year until recently. Tomoe has wanted to fight a gorilla since last year. In fact, every day since last year she has contemplated her goal. Starting last year, she started to contemplate and then every day she has contemplated her goal every day since last year. What has she contemplated? She has contemplated her goal, her goal of fighting a gorilla. Because she has wanted to fight a gorilla for one year, since last year. But of course, every time she has contemplated fighting a gorilla, she has realized that gorillas have brute strength. She has realized every time that they are hard to fight. And so every day since last year she has gone to the gym. Every day since last year she has gone to the gym and she has strained to lift weights. She has tried very hard to lift weights. Every day she has strained to lift weights. Every day she has worked out, exercised. Every day she has gotten stronger and stronger and stronger, since last year. So she has wanted to fight a gorilla. She has contemplated fighting a gorilla. She has gone to the gym. She has exercised. She has strained to lift weights every day since last year, until finally she was ready. One day she said "I'm ready. I will proceed with my plan." And she did. She proceeded with her plan. She flew to Africa. In Africa she saw a big, strong, huge gorilla. But there was a problem. The gorilla had such a cute little baby. Oh no. Tomoe visualized the baby crying. She imagined the baby crying. And so Tomoe took the baby into consideration. She thought about the baby. And Tomoe decided not to fight the gorilla. Instead she played basketball with the gorilla and the gorilla baby. And everybody was very happy. * * ** * Okay, that's all. That's the end of our first mini-story. Again, you probably noticed there was a change in there. Actually a couple of little changes, you may have noticed that.
Automatic English For The People Emotional Mastery Vocabulary Text Okay, welcome to the vocabulary lesson for "Emotional Mastery." Let's get started. A few of the words I used in the main speech, the main article. First leť's talk about posture. Posture. So posture means the position of your body, it's how you stand or sit. So we talk about good posture, for example. Good posture means your shoulders are back. Your back is straight, your chin is up. That's what we usually call good posture. And bad posture would mean, you know again, you're leaning forward. Your shoulders are forward. Your back is not straight. So again, posture just means the position of your body, how you position your body. How you hold your body, that's posture. Another word I used was grin. A grin can be a noun, it's a thing. Or it can be a verb, it's something you do. So to grin means to smile, but to smile in a big way. When you grin, you're not using a small smile. You're using a very, very big smile. Again, it's also a noun so if you have a very big smile on your face, we say that is a grin. He has a big grin. You could use both, I guess. You could say he is grinning a big grin. Okay, so grin again is a large smile or the act of doing a large smile. Another phrase I used was “tends to be." He tends to be an angry person. Tends to be means usually is. So he usually is an angry person. He tends to be an angry person. So it's something that usually happens, usually is true, mostly is true. But not always, not always. So I could say, Tomoe tends to be happy. It means she usually is happy. It's her normal thing to do or normal thing to feel. But not always, sometimes she's not happy. So tends to be, usually is or often is or mostly is. Okay, another word I used was shifting. Shifting your body and the verb is to shift. To shift your body means to move it. It really means kind of to change its position. A shift is a change of position. So if I have my head down and then I shift it, then maybe I move it to a different position. Now it's up. I shifted from down to up. We use this in other areas, not just body. You can use it for driving, for example. When you're driving you can shift from first gear to second gear. Or reverse, you're going backwards, then you stop, you shift the car and you change and you go forward. So again, you're changing the gear's position. Okay, so shift is a change in position. I used the word shallow, shallow breath or shallow breathing. And I also used the word deep, deep breathing or a deep breath. So they're opposites, of course. Deep, we also use this with water, for example. Deep water means water that goes down very far. Shallow water means water that's not very deep, right? It's the opposite, water that does not go down far. So shallow breathing is the same idea. It means breathing that is very small, that doesn't go down into your body very much. So...that's shallow
The Effortless English Club Automatic English For The People Beliefs Main Text Hello, welcome to the fourth lesson. This one is called “Beliefs." Let's get started. Beliefs are another important part of managing your psychology, of strengthening your psychology so that you will learn English, or anything in fact, much faster. And there are two kinds of beliefs to general categories of beliefs. Limiting and empowering. Let's talk about limiting beliefs first. Now limiting means, limit is something that stops you. It's like a boundary. It stops you from going ahead. So a limiting belief is a belief that stops you from improving, a belief that stops you from getting better. And l'd say most English students have limiting beliefs and many English students have very strong limiting beliefs. I call these beliefs English trauma and I got that name from a few of my Japanese students. They would tell me “AJ, I can't speak English well because I have English trauma." What is English trauma? What is that, what are they talking about? Well, trauma means some kind of injury, some kind of hurt. Emotional hurt, deep emotional hurt. So what they mean is that they had some very negative, painful experiences with English in the past. In other words, when they were in school in English classes, even as adults going to other English schools, they had very negative experiences. And all these negative experiences have created some very negative beliefs, some very limiting beliefs. For example, they say "I am not good at English." Well, that's a belief. It may be true, it may not be true. But it's an opinion, it's a belief that they have. Another belief, a very common belief, English is difficult. Or, English is complicated. Well, that's just a belief. For me English is very easy, because l'm a native speaker, just like your native language for you is very easy. Tomoe can speak Japanese fluently because she's Japanese, so I might say "Japanese is difficult," and she would say “No, Japanese is super easy." These are just beliefs that come from our experiences. The problem is these limiting beliefs limit us. They in fact do limit us. They stop us from getting better. They cause a lot of problems for us as students, as learners. I have them, too. As I try to learn Japanese, for example, I have a lot of these limiting beliefs I realize. I think "Oh, Japanese is so difficult." Japanese is complicated, just look at the writing system. It's so different from English. And these beliefs hurt my motivation. They lower my energy, and in fact they're wrong. They're not true. Japanese does not have to be difficult, it does not have to be complicated. A small child, even a small American child, could learn Japanese very effortlessly, very easily. And the reason is, the number one reason is, they don't have the limiting beliefs. They can sing songs and play games and enjoy the language, and

For the last 18 months or so NBT Scientific Director Megan Hall has been holding weekly Office Hours sessions on Zoom. It’s a chance for our clients and Patreon supporters to ask questions about just about anything related to improving health and performance and get answers based on the scientific literature. This has become such a valuable resource for the NBT community that I wanted to share just a taste of it on the podcast today. Today you can listen in on one of Megan’s recent Office Hours sessions. First, she discusses ways to increase the body’s nitric oxide (NO) production, including the best foods and the supplements arginine and citrulline. NO’s most important function is vasodilation, meaning it relaxes the inner muscles of the blood vessels, causing them to widen and increase circulation. Later she talks about natural ways to keep mosquitos away, including her favourite non-toxic insect repellant and other lesser-known strategies for staying bug-bite free. When it comes to Miyamoto Usagi & Tomoe Ame, there are things that are hidden. These unsaid feelings strike at the very core of their relationship, and in many ways, "Tomoe's Story" is Stan Sakai's final statement regarding their romance...even though we still have one more episode after this one to explore their undeniable chemistry. Usagi Yojimbo: Book 22 operates in a very different manner than the previous storylines we've covered. There is no singular plot driving the narrative. Instead, it's a series of short stories that add up to a bittersweet send-off for the couple. Did we love it? No doubt, but with that love comes pain as well. We attempt to navigate our feelings using Lori Tsugawa Whaley's "Let the Samurai Be Your Guide: The Seven Bushido Pathways to Personal Success." This week, it's all about integrity. How do you get it, and what do you do when you have it? If you're looking to do a little extracurricular reading for this week's episode, we recommend delving into Mark Turetsky's excellent essay, "There Are Things That Are Hidden: Usagi Yojimbo #93" via Shelfdust. Comics covered this week: "Usagi Yojimbo" Volume 3, issues 90 - 93, and "Usagi Yojimbo Color Special" issues 1 - 3, written, illustrated, & lettered by Stan Sakai. Back to back, Miyamoto Usagi & Tomoe Ame must battle the Blood Princess and rescue an enslaved village in "The Mother of Mountains." The two Samurai warriors reveal the courageous core of their character time and time again within the pages of Usagi Yojimbo, and this storyline showcases how such a code is infectious to those around them, including the reader. This week, we continue to apply Lori Tsugawa Whaley's "Let the Samurai Be Your Guide: The Seven Bushido Pathways to Personal Success" to the unrequited romance between Miyamoto & Tomoe, as well as our own relationship. How can we exemplify the Way of the Samurai in our daily lives? We attempt to figure it out. Comics covered this week: "Usagi Yojimbo" Volume 3, issues 83 - 89, written, illustrated, & lettered by Stan Sakai. Don't forget to watch "The Sword and The Pen" documentary short film explaining the origins of Stan Sakai on Vimeo. Today we’re talking about Tomoe Gozen, a warrior worth a thousand men. Tomoe is known as a leading commander and the first female general of 12th century Japan. She was extremely talented with bow and arrow, long sword, martial arts, and riding horses. Legend has it that she was “ready to confront a demon or god, mounted or on foot” and that she “performed more deeds of valor than any other warriors.” She fearlessly beheaded the enemies and presented their heads to her commanding officers. Tomoe Gozen was not just a fearless warrior, but she was also a cunning strategist and inspirational leader. Now in 12th century Japan, it was not entirely unusual for women of the samurai class to be trained in martial arts as well as to use various weapons, but their role was expected to be primarily defensive, protecting themselves and their households in the event of an enemy attack. What made Tomoe stand out was her superior skill and ability to effectively command, as well as holding her own in an offensive role, rather than defensive. Tomoe Gozen stands out as one of the bravest, boldest, most cunning and fiercest warriors of all time. Her example can help all of us be a little bit braver and to be warriors in our own lives. She also inspires us to be confident and self-assured when it comes to taking on leadership roles, including leading groups of predominantly men. Girls can do anything! Just like Tomoe.
Stan Sakai's "Usagi Yojimbo" is one of the great comic book series. Few compare, none top it. We begin our journey discussing the unrequited romance of Miyamoto Usagi and the Lady Tomoe Ame with the epic "Grasscutter" saga. Neither character meets on the page, but here is where we see them in their purest form. To see them alone is to know them together. To help us in our quest to understand our heroes, we consult "Let the Samurai Be Your Guide: The Seven Bushido Pathways to Personal Success" by Lori Tsugawa Whaley. As we discuss in this episode, winning the internal war determines the outcome of any external challenge. Stay true to yourself, and the path will clear before you.Comics covered this week: "Usagi Yojimbo" Volume 3, issues 13 - 22, written, illustrated, & lettered by Stan Sakai.Be sure to follow the podcast on Instagram and Twitter @CBCCPodcast, and you can follow hosts Brad Gullickson @MouthDork & Lisa Gullickson @sidewalksiren.Support the podcast by joining our Patreon Community.Podcast logo by Aaron Prescott @acoolhandfluke, podcast banner & the Epic 50th Poster art by @Karen_XmenFan.

The first episode of my podcast is focused on my guest speaker and brother, Kevin Si. We have been working with each other for as long as SEO Hacker has been alive. Let's get to know more about Kevin Si, as well as his role as the COO of SEO Hacker. Kevin is the Chief Operating Officer of SEO Hacker. It is the first and only place where he has worked ever since he graduated from college. He used to be the website and development head. Nowadays, with all of his technical know-how, he is considered to be the technical expert of the company, while I oversee all of the marketing aspects. One of the notable projects that Kevin is doing right now is that he is creating a company called Tomoe where he sells bead bracelets. Now you might be wondering, what's so special about these bead bracelets that Kevin decided to start a whole business selling them, when in fact, it's something that is very accessible to everyone? It can be found in a lot of malls, and markets, and even in small corner stores more commonly known in the Philippines as Tiangge. Kevin explains his learnings from a seminar conducted by Leadership Stack, one of my recent startups, that any idea that is not physically present with you is nothing but an idea. It lingers—and oftentimes, it gets lost in translation. Kevin describes the bead bracelets he is selling as a means to symbolize these ideas. He wants to help people have the same mantra of materializing their ideas and goals. In essence, these bracelets are used in a more spiritual way as it can give you supernatural wisdom. These bracelets are made to empower people because, as Kevin believes, everyone has the ability to do so many things. It's just a matter of reminding them that they can do it. He further explains that the bead bracelets are in no way an original idea. It's easy to find the beads on the Internet. What sets Tomoe bracelets apart are the difference in combinations and the message behind them. Tomoe aims to cultivate and empower people who use these bracelets to make sure that they're reminded of what they can become. One of the few things Kevin wanted to highlight was that he and his company is looking to create a program where they ask their customers to commit to something, and they'll be asking for regular updates from them. In this age where social media has taken up a large chunk of our time, seeing influencers, and other people who flaunt their luxurious lifestyles so much can be depressing at times. A lot of people can feel helpless, but in reality, we are empowered to do so many things. Empowerment itself is an amazing concept, as long as it is done well. Going back to Kevin's position as the COO of a young tech company, he shares that his work is mainly about handling both operations and people. Operations is easy. As long as there are clear rules and regulations on how things are supposed to be done. He also notes that there is a very defined standard separating good quality, excellent work, from the bad ones. That being said, the hardest part of his job is defining which is good, and which is bad work, processes, and outputs (which is, as stated by Kevin, still fairly easy). It's a matter of reaching quotas, while also exemplifying quality work. Another point worthy of consideration is that it's actually the people in operations that make things hard because you have to motivate and encourage them. I personally make an effort to get to know them well enough to empower and encourage them. SEO Hacker is a young tech company that has a relatively young workforce of approximately 40 individuals. Being the COO of such a company is quite a unique experience. In Kevin's case, he can pretty much sum it up to be a very fun experience. That is with the condition tha Support the show (https://tribe.leadershipstack.com/)
We start this week’s show talking about the Dwarven Castle battle where you fight Golbez and his Shadow Dragon. This is a re-run of an old fight, so it’s not too tough. Shadow Dragon will deal lethal fixed damage to one unit every turn, so keep an eye out for that. The rewards aren’t anything special, but some players might still find Shadow Dragon scale’s +30 MAG to be useful. Moving onto Akstar’s (Tomoe’s really) story event: Out for Vengeance. First, make sure to do the Akstar unit intro quest for the free goodies and to have a look at Akstar’s CG movie, it’s pretty cool! Following a brief discussion about the story and the items you can get from completing it, we discuss the units on the banner: Majora, Gravey, Tomoe, Akstar, and Zeno of the Beta Star. Gravey has an amazing TMR, Akstar comes out unchanged from his JP counterpart, and Zeno, the new global exclusive unit surprises everyone by being a true dial wield monster. Tune in to hear us discuss the similarities and differences between Akstar and Zeno of the Beta Star! Well... Minami Kamakura is finally over after just one season, and the Matts couldn't be more relieved to get this out of the way. Will their review help them better appreciate the series? Can they finally come to terms with Sandy McDougal? Did the girls actually accomplish anything? And, the most important question of all: will they finally learn where to find a delicious chocolate parfait for a reasonable price in Kamakura?!

This week, we'll be tackling an oft-requested topic; women warriors in the samurai class. Contrary to what you might think, women were actually very active in the roughly 800 years that make up the dominant time of the samurai class. Today, we'll be discussing just a few of them and learning about their accomplishments during Japan's war-torn past.
