Culture Classroom

Each year John Torrey and John Weaver pick a word for the New Year that will inspire us to be our best. We started this practice three years ago. As most of you may know Jon Gordon wrote One Word with Dan Britton and Jimmy Page to help people discover their word for the year. Dan and Jimmy invented the "One Word" practice and have been doing it with their families for over twenty years. Our words over the years have been: FINISH, INTENTIONAL and, PERSEVERE Each word has molded and shaped us to become better people, fathers, husbands, leaders and communicators. Looking back we might say that our One Word chose us more often than we chose it. It's also a fun team building exercise and much more effective than New Year's resolutions. 9 out of 10 people will fail with their resolutions but One Word sticks. No goals. No resolutions. Just One Word that helps you write and create a yearly chapter in your life story. It's powerful. Hey My Katies! Do you have your Word for the Year yet? One Word....a buzz word and concept in Christian and business circles. Do you find yourself doubting that one word could really change anything in your life? Do you make endless goals and resolutions, but find you forget them 2 weeks later? How about if we just cut to the chase and simplify? No goals. No wish lists. No workouts. Just one word. One simple word with a Scriptural nudge to create laser focus, clarity and empower you. Truly, that is the power of My One Word! I traded in my resolutions long, long ago, but found the "my one word" challenge has changed my character!  I look at different aspects of my life: my physical (of course, I'm a woman), mindset, spiritual, financial and relationships. When I focus in on just One Word, it holds fast. It sticks.   When you choose your one word, write it down, share it, apply it and live it,  your life will become more fulfilling and incredible than ever. Just One Word.  Give a listen! I'd love to know your word too btw! Tune in to listen to Braden Daniel who is a musician share his story and songs. In Braden's words: The Song listed as "Just One Word" is the song I for sure want played. This is a song about what it is like to live with a disability, how we are just like everyone else in so many ways, and if we could all practice just being kind...one word, one gesture, or an acknowledgement that people matter...it could make a person struggling feel like they have enough to keep going. If we have time...the second song, "Stik Man" is a song about what it is like to live with stiff person syndrome. The stiffness, the paranoia of being seen in public falling down and having an episode...and simply learning to accept it so we may live our best selves. Stik Man has become my nickname. Both songs are completely different styles. The first one is inspirational and the second is more...groovy.

This shows Art Vision prompt is I Am Enough! based on concepts from Lauries book. Lets proclaim that using our gifts and living from our hearts (and not our heads) is more than enough to connect with our self-worth, harmonious relationships, abundance, and create a better world. Click here to go to Vicki's Art Vision page: I Am Enough! Memoir Artwork of the Day:The Honesty of Claud The Honesty of Claud is a work in progress, and Im not sure yet how Ill finish her. Yet, Im enjoying the journey of creating her. This is how it is with us when we feel were enough. Each one of us is a work in progress with our own unique limiting beliefs, successes, gifts and life path. We cant see the end result or know the exact how that will lead us to fulfilling our dreams. Yet, when we trust our hearts to lead us to joy, harmonious connection with others, and the belief that the world is an abundant place with enough for all, the Universe will supply the open doors and resources that help us to transform ourselves and the world.
