Schools don't meet the needs of students with diverse learning styles. Most teachers lead with Fact Finder or Follow Through modes. Building on strengths is crucial for better employee performance and relationships. Conation vs cognition in schools. Student Aptitude Quiz provides tips and tricks for using strengths productively. Educators and parents play crucial roles in giving purpose to youth. Communication possibilities for cognitive conflicts “‘We're going to change everything.' That's super stressful for a lot of people to hear in the education field. It's all about how to communicate and deliver work collaboratively together with those differences so that you are able to reach that purpose. I don't know any educator who's gone past the first year principal or teacher or assistant who's not there because their purpose is to help kids, but you have to understand their approaches to help. Bottom line, to educators, if your purpose is to help kids learn, I think the first thing they have to help is how they learn. They need to understand themselves and how they learn best. And by helping students learn how they learn and the joy of learning, then they become purposeful in their learning. And then the teacher feels I've accomplished a goal.” -Kathy Kolbe Get the episode transcript here! School is one example of a social institution where some people thrive and others tank. But what if that has more to do with the way it's set up than whether some students lack the ability to learn. This was Kathy Kolbe's connundrum. Dyslexic, dysgraphic, riddled with ADHD, and a female in the mid-twentieth century is not exactly a winning formula for success. But she was determined to scientifically prove equality. What she produced has been a tremendous asset in helping our clients learn how to succeed at healing, recovery, and happiness in a way that matches their own strengths (instead of being forced to always do things the way the teacher says). It has freed them to finally be and honor themselves just as they are. Today well talk about that a little more. Have a listen. Highlights: There's a lot of people listening that don't realize that when they think there's a deficit in them, they've really just been asked to operate differently than their own strengths. (11:10) Being burned out, hopeless, stressed, and depressed; how much of that is just you trying to be someone that you're not? (12:00) It gave perspective on the way I operate and It gave permission to be me. (27:55) This is not an excuse to cop out on what you aren't as familiar with, but maybe that there are other ways to do it.(29:10) Your perception of the world, your instinctive reaction to the world, is the place where freedom can be put on autopilot. And that is markedly different than Kathy's conation. (34:45) Need help unlocking mental, emotional, and physical freedom in your life? We all know there are certain tasks that we gravitate towards and others that we tend to shy away from. However, what if we told you that there are many activities that you are doing on a daily basis that give you energy, while many others that are draining you of that energy? In this episode, Kyle Pearce and Jon Orr will take a deep dive into learning what drives you and what drains you through Kathy Kolbe's Instinct Test called the Kolbe-A Test. Learn why Kyle's perfect Kolbe Number of 8-3-7-3 is a great match for Jon's perfect Kolbe Number of 4-8-2-6, and why you should spend time determining your own Perfect Kolbe Number. What you'll learn: What are your instinctive strengths and how can you put them to use?Why knowing what drives you leads you to do your best work. How to help yourself in getting unstuck by working with your instinctive strengths rather than against them. Why your instinctive strengths make you a perfect fit for building a business, investing, and designing your long term wealth plan.Resources: Rocket Fuel - Gino Wickman [Book]The Invested Teacher Wealth Building Booklist The Real Group Windsor Real Estate TeamInvested Teacher Ontario MortgagesInvested Teacher Wealth PlanningDownload our Wealth Building BlueprintInterested in Joint Venture Opportunities? For those interested in being considered for potential Joint Venture (JV) opportunities, reach out to us here.Contact Matt if you're Buying or Selling Real Estate in Windsor or Essex County!Reach out to Jon if you're looking for an Ontario Mortgage, Ontario Mortgage Refinance or a HELOC in Ontario.Get in touch with Kyle to begin your journey through his Canadian Wealth Planning System.Check out the work Jon and Kyle do assisting mathematics educators and district leaders. In this interview, acclaimed theorist Kathy Kolby discusses her groundbreaking work on cognitive strengths and problem-solving abilities. She emphasizes the importance of understanding one's innate abilities and debunks misconceptions about personal change. Kolby also explores the impact of cognitive expectations on stress levels and delves into the four instinctive modes and their relevance to entrepreneurship. Additionally, she shares her personal journey of overcoming dyslexia, fighting scientific lies, and advocating for fairness and equality. Through her entrepreneurial experiences, Kolby exemplifies the power of hard work, problem-solving, and making a positive difference in the world. Despite facing challenges such as stolen work and gender biases, she remains committed to her vision of helping others discover their true selves and finding peace and joy in their lives. Her resilience, determination, and ability to turn adversity into her life's work make her a true trailblazer in her industry. Key Points The significance of focusing on the future rather than dwelling on the past as a key trait of entrepreneurs Kathy Kolbe has been challenging the scientific world's lies about connation, a concept she believes to be crucial and often misunderstood. She discovered her passion for fairness and equality at a young age, always striving to find ways to help people be equal and make their differences work together. Kathy Kolbe's focus as an entrepreneur is on making a positive impact and helping people find peace and joy. Seeking the truth and accepting wise advice from trusted advisors was crucial to navigating the difficulties in business. The power of connation: Kathy discovered the truth of connation while recovering from a brain injury and used it to reshape her business and personal life. Starting from scratch: Despite almost losing everything, Kathy went back to business, proving that the people who needed her work were still out there. Best Quotes "Most of the stress in the world is caused by misplaced cognitive expectations and responsibilities." "I would say to every entrepreneur out there, seek the wisest advisors you can possibly find and tell them you want the truth." "If you have creative problem-solving, you decide what you want to do, and you'll be able to do it." Action Starters are a series of shorts from the Powered by Instinct podcast. These are bite-sized clips with easily accessible knowledge for you to enjoy. This clip comes from the very first episode of Powered by Instinct, where we asked acclaimed theorist and founder of Kolbe Corp, Kathy Kolbe, a very important question:What separates successful teams from teams that struggle?Kathy shared a story about how she was able to identify which of three teams within a corporation was the most effective, simply by looking at their Kolbe results."You need a diversity of problem-solving in order to have a successful team. I think what's brilliant is to be able to measure the strengths of individuals, but then plot them in a team and to figure out who should be collaborating together. And then, as a leader, to anticipate where your team's gonna struggle." - Kathy Kolbe

Talent optimization is a cultural imperative, and it looks like me at my best, you at your best. It starts with the belief that Everyone's Unique, and both considers and celebrates all three parts of one's mind - the affective, cognitive and lesser-known conative. Are you considering all three parts of the mind when hiring, onboarding, developing each member of your team? These three parts working together is talent optimization at its zenith, but requires committed action to be at the forefront of an organization's culture. Thoughts on transitions in business and how you handle change. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E6seyaYEMLg Transcription The funny thing about transitions. Hi I'm Brian Pombo, welcome back to Brian J Pombo Live. I want to talk a little bit about transitions because we're going through quite a few transitions here at Brian J Pombo. Live. We're kind of restructuring how we're doing things. I mean, everything's always in transition if you're looking at the right way, but we're restructuring things, we're shutting down some projects some long term projects that we've been working on, and opening up new ones that I've been hinting at for a while, but putting a lot more energy and focus into that. And the funny thing about transitions is everyone handles it a little bit differently. Some people get really freaked out about new things and trying out something new and ending something that you've done for a long time. I'm lucky that I don't have a huge staff or anything of that sort. It's all designed to be able to run and turn quickly. And as I've been discussing it with the people that I do work with, we realize that certain things have to change. At first, that can cause a little bit of trepidation but if you back away from it, it can get really exciting. Now I have a funny thing about my personality, being that I'm entrepreneurial, and very, very much an innovator, if you will, I love transitions, I love the beginning of anything, the ending of things I'm not that great with but the beginning of new things, make the ending of other things even better. So I'm always for the beginning, I'm always hot to try it when we're first running out the door. So we're working on a new project and I've got these books all laid out. I'm highlighting them and I'm organizing and I'm putting things together and kind of drawing out a map of where to go. Now when it starts getting into the real nitty-gritty and really getting into the into, into getting things done. I'm not as good at that. That's the time I want to start something new, you know, but everybody's a little bit different. And you got to be aware of that, especially if you're working with a team of people. Everybody handled these things differently, it really is built into how your brain functions. A whole lot has been put into this in terms of research and I always recommend people look into Kathy Kolbe's work. Really good stuff, Kathy spells her name with a K and her last name, also with a K. So it's Kathy Kolbe, go check out Kolbe.com, and look up the stuff regarding the Kolbe index, because they've been able to find that there's a certain part of the brain, right that they call the conative center of the brain, where you pretty much it's set to run a certain way pretty much your entire life. And that from the time you're a baby all the way till when they put you in the ground. I mean that that's how you function. And it's even more pervasive than what people would normally consider personality, and it's how you work. It's how you function in work. And some people enjoy during certain types of things. They could do that in a whole bunch of different careers but there's one thing they really have an aptitude for, and everything else they may not have. And some people they're spread out in their aptitude and other people are, are very specific, or they have a couple of things that they do very well and everything else they're not as good at. A lot of times when we get involved in teams of people, especially with work, we think that our way is the right way. Especially if we've got some other things that we're on the ball on, we think well, but clearly, they haven't figured this part out about life yet. It's not true. Everybody runs differently. That's how these things all work together. It's why you need a team of people is because we don't all have it all.

Thoughts on using Notion.so, to help you with your organization skills. Checkout Notion - Notion.so https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PBIcPQ0dZio Transcription The Secret Hack, to Productivity Hacks. Hi I'm Brian Pombo, welcome back to Brian J. Pombo Live. I want to talk about productivity hacks, but specifically, the secret hack behind all productivity hacks. And this came after I've come in contact just in the past week, with a whole lot of people giving advice on pieces of software and services you can get online that are productivity hacks. That are things that will help you be more productive as a business owner, as a person that's maybe entrepreneurial thinking or what have you. And I and I will give you lists over time. Here's one specific one that I just came in contact with. It's called notion. And I'll put the link in the description. notion is a productivity hack. In a sense, it's a website that allows you to organize your thoughts in a certain way. I'm trying it out so far and as with most cases, I find that if they're somewhat helpful, I really enjoy them in the very beginning. But the real test is over time is after the excitement has kind of died down. And I have to deal with it on a regular basis. All the fun is taken out of it because I know all of its functionality. What now, how useful is it? But so far I've been I've been pretty happy with this one, I'll give you more info. As time goes on, we'll see how well it works in the long run. Here's what I found. Here's the big hack behind all productivity hacks. And it's this one size does not fit all. Just because it works for somebody does not mean it's going to work for you, it can be great and life changing for them. I mean, honestly, one little piece of software, one little website or service that you subscribe to, or even Oh, the Holy Grail, the free online service, that changes your life, right? That can happen. It can happen it can, it does exist for some people. But you got to remember, it has a lot to do with your co nation with your mentality with your personality with how you function, and everybody's different. This is what's crazy, everybody's different. Now, if you know more about co nation, like we've discussed before that Kathy Kolbe way of thinking, you can look up more at Kolbe.com, K O L B E dot com. You can find out all about her companies, and the ideas that they're trying to spread in terms of figuring out people's co nation. So being able to quantify how you work best, and then showing you how to do that and how to work with others that work best in different ways. That's been a huge eye opener, because it shown me that just because I can't figure out how to do something that seems to work for everybody else, doesn't mean there's something wrong with me. It's just not the way I'm wired. I'm wired a different way, and I've got to find other people that are wired in other ways to be able to fill in the gaps in my business, in my projects that I work on and everything else. So what's that have to do with productivity? Productivity is different for everybody. Everyone's going to be productive in different ways. This is the kind of the issues with school right now is they tend to have one cookie cutter way, especially the public school system has one cookie cutter way in the United States, of how you should be doing it of the proper way that you should be sitting in a class for this much time. You should be paying attention to the teacher, you should be writing notes. You should have a certain amount of homework every night. All the shoulds. And even parents do this to their kids. They think well, this is what worked for me, so why isn't it working for you? You must be lazy. You must have something wrong with you. You must need, you know, mental therapy or something. You must need medication not that there aren't people that do but in general,
