Sooooo we're talking about what's important today. Video Games. Look: why are they so addictive? Why are they so cool? We don't know because this fact actually just sticks to the history of their creation/rise in popularity. But still! It'll be cool to listen to! Also, in this ep Kayci teaches us about oral hygiene and how your great great grandmother probably stunk to high heaven. But that's okay, because most everyone did... especially in their mouth-parts. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/friendswhofact/support
Hey Buddies! Today's ep is sure to boil your blood and not just because everyone's favorite, Jason, is out this episode. It just so happens that both Weslie and Kayci's facts this week are meant to inspire activism, or just conversation, about some injustices in this world. We're not joking here peeps! First, Kayci digs into the history of Tampons... and we shouldn't be surprised that their creation, commodification, and current design kinda leave women guessing about what they're putting in their bodies. That's right! To this day we are unsure if they are helping or hurting more BECAUSE THEY ARE NOT REQUIRED TO TELL US EXACTLY WHAT THEY ARE MADE OUT OF OR HOW THEY ARE MADE OR WHAT CHEMICALS THEY HAVE IN WHAT QUANTITIES!!!! AAAAHHH! OK. Next, we got Weslie's fact about the history of Plastic... which... Well you'll have to listen to because we're done typing in all caps and getting angry. LET'S GET HISTORICAL! Today both Kayci and Weslie take us back to ancient times with their facts. First, Weslie teaches all of us dummies about how we (humans) went from wild crazy cave-peeps and hunter-gatherers to sedentary lazy couch potatoes. The transformation took millennia... now can she teach us how to go back? Then, we got some fancy factoids about some not-so-fancy footwear from Kayci. Here's a good idea for a podcast, you take two unknown open-micers, now hear me out, and they promote a comedy show with a max capacity of 30 patrons, now hear me out, and they only attempt to be funny one time and fail miserably. Nah, you're right, that's a terrible idea. The great Pat Oates joins us once again to talk about the very unfunny Matt Heath and his uninteresting friend Paul Gregory. And now for something completely different. Not exactly a new episode of Catch The Show or The Underground Monster. I've been hinting for a while now of changes to come & here's one of the major ones: I have a new Hyphen Podcast Group show coming soon with my best friend Kayci called "$H!T, Not Another Music Podcast with Eric & Kayci". This episode is a cut up of our conversation about the show & how things would go. We talk about how music has affected our lives (especially during the pandemic), talk about Cardi B divorcing OffSet & Rolling Stone's new 500 Greatest Albums of All Time, then we give our review of Krizz Kaliko's new album, “Legend”. NOTE: There’s an editing error in this episode at marks 32:21 and 82:32 where there’s no audio. Just fast forward 30 seconds to continue. Then the day came when she could no longer supply her habit. She was forced to change in order to survive. Kayci decided to quit cold turkey - and was sick for 40 days. Then came the diagnosis of breast cancer...

Last week when we were talking about wormholes (rabbit holes!), Brenda dropped a bomb on Kristi. That led to what we thought was a pretty interesting discussion about unpopular opinions, which led to an unexpected special guest. Thanks for stopping in, Kayci!
Brenda had the great idea to do a Facebook Live this week...who knew there was so much to know about going Live these days?! After some false starts and some help from our awesome kiddos (thanks, Alex and Kayci) and TONS of grace from y'all, we finally went live. And then some of y'all showed up and reminded us why we're doing this. Thank you!

Turn The Page: All In - Kayci Ross 02-29-2020
Catharine Nixon and Kayci Scaggs are the co-founders of the Vitamin C Blog. With a combined background of healthcare and marketing, Catharine and Kayci have created an online platform focused on facilitating connections between health industry experts and consumers seeking simplified and seamless healthcare support and content. Through twenty-five years working as a registered nurse in public, private and corporate spaces, Catharine wanted to help consumers be more successful in their health journeys. Teaming up with Kayci, who has a marketing background and a passion for helping people improve their lifestyle choices, the Vitamin C Blog was born. The Vitamin C Blog is a growing platform with a goal to span across industries, connect consumers directly to top healthcare professionals and eventually become a driving force in tackling the rise of chronic illness. Acknowledging the ‘white coat syndrome’, Catharine and Kayci are passionate about empowering people to take control of their health journey through making information easily available, relatable and accessible. They discuss their road map for 2020, upcoming events, direct engagement programs and the ‘Experts Corner’, a place where consumers can connect with personally vetted healthcare practitioners with a click of a button. Key takeaways: Gut health is integral to many aspects of your health, and your gut’s survival is based on what you put in your mouth. People may have the same type of goal, but the journey to get there is going to be very different. Direct engagement programs can be tailored to work with the individual. There’s a stigma around food that’s good for you not tasting good, and this needs to be addressed and changed. It’s easy for health information to be inaccessible and incomprehensible to the average consumer. But health information can be inspiring, interesting and empowering! Chronic illness is a growing problem in Australia that needs to be addressed. Modern medicine, although amazing, isn’t enough to tackle this problem. In Episode 52, it's your favorite set of ladies, Cece, Kayci, and Brittany (with a special appearance from our Branding and Creative Director Brie). It's been one helluva week and we discuss it ALL. We kick off the episode with some good news from Brit, before getting into a pretty serious discussion surrounding the untimely death of Kobe and Gianna "Gigi" Bryant. We follow up with why Terry Crews should have just stuck to pop locking and we talk about whether we would take $70,000 or an invitation to the Roc Nation Brunch. Which would you choose? We close the episode with talks of this past weekend Grammy Award Show. When Kayci Baldwin graduated from Harvard, she and her girlfriends saw a space that needed to be filled. As a women of color in the marketing world and workplace, she recognized the bias and struggle that would hold her back from her fullest potential. On today's episode, Kayci talks about starting her own company with her friends (and all the ups & downs that followed), and the new adventure she's on as she leaves entrepreneurship in the rearview mirror to focus on a new role as a brand manager at Brooklyn Boulders, a climbing gym and community. Tune in for Kayci's best advice on friendships, finding your path, and navigating the workplace! --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/the-shefactor-podcast/message
In this lengthy second episode of the show, I recap me and my friend Kayci's experience at a Tech N9ne concert we recently witnessed (my second and her first). Before that, I spend almost an hour going MORE in depth about the Pusha T and Drake beef (for the last time). I also give my review on the new Kanye and Ghost albums. This is a bit of a long one so sit back, "relax", make yourself a glass of KC Tea or Caribou Lou and enjoy! For those who rather skip around this 2 hours, here's the time stamps for the topics discussed: Pusha T vs. Drake Breakdown (4:00) "Technical Difficulties" (20:20) Kanye West - "ye" Review (33:10) Ghost - "Prequelle" Review (41:20) Tech N9ne Concert Review (45:45) Check out my new Juggalo/underground music podcast, The Underground Monster Show, here: https://anchor.fm/the-underground-monster --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app
