Bridget, Caitlin, and Hilda are finally back with part 1 of "Brimstone," book 2 in Callie Hart's Fae & Alchemy series. Although they're still not done reading, so far the consensus is that they like this book more than book 1. Also, Carrion Swift continues to be the best thing about this series. TALK TO ME, TEXT ITA glowing red “jellyfish” above a thunderstorm looks like sci‑fi until you hear the science. We start with a simple birthday fitness win—standing up from the floor without using hands—and follow that thread of intentional choices into the sky, where NASA explains sprites: rare, vermilion flashes that bloom 50 miles up and vanish in milliseconds. The images echo Stranger Things, but the truth is better than fiction—a peek at the upper atmosphere's hidden electrical theater and how storms can spark beauty we rarely see. From awe to impulse, we pivot into a candid look at TikTok Shop and the way shopping now lives inside the same stream as entertainment. Ten billion dollars of U.S. spend this year hints at a bigger shift: when video, social proof, and one-tap checkout erase the pause between wanting and buying. We unpack FOMO across generations, why buy-now-pay-later stretches small choices into long-term debt, and how to rebuild healthy friction with simple guardrails—separating watch from buy, adding a 24-hour list, and removing autofill to invite reflection back into the process. We wrap with a lighter tradition that still carries weight: favorite Christmas movies. Miracle on 34th Street, Love Actually, The Holiday—stories that help us measure what matters and remind us that belief, community, and restraint can coexist. Come for the strange red lightning and stay for the practical toolkit against the scroll-to-cart spiral. If this resonated, follow the show, share it with a friend who loves space or struggles with impulse buys, and drop a review with your top holiday film—we're reading every pick.Buzzsprout - Let's get your podcast launched!Start for FREE Thanks for listening! Watching lightning on Earth is fascinating. But watching it from space can be scientifically enlightening.
What if your first Pokémon game wasn't from the '90s…but your art still lived there? For SageDeoxys, a sprite animator inspired by Johto-era pixel art, limitations weren't barriers, they were invitations. In this episode, we explore how one fan turned a childhood love of the anime and Pokémon cards into a creative journey that bridges generations. And when your favorite Pokémon are Deoxys, Nihilego, and Shuckle, you know there's a deeper story behind every choice.Whether you're a longtime fan of pixel art, or just looking for a story that reminds you why you fell in love with Pokémon, this one is for you. Guest: Dr. Levi Boggs, Georgia Tech Research InstituteWhen we think of lightning, we picture bolts striking the ground during a thunderstorm—but not all electrical activity stays within the lower atmosphere. High above the clouds, mysterious and fleeting flashes of light dance across the sky—sprites, blue jets, and gigantic jets—phenomena that are still not fully understood. Today on Weather Geeks, we're exploring the enigmatic world of upper atmospheric electrical phenomena with Dr. Levi Boggs, whose latest research is shedding new light on these elusive events. Hello storylovers! This episode we have two great stories for you! Our first is from storyteller Sarah Rundle from West London. Sarah has performed at Festivals all around the world, she's told tales in museums and theatres, pubs and cafes. I love hearing Sarah's stories because they're often very funny and a bit crazy. And this is very famous old folktale called The Dauntless Girl. It's a slightly spooky story about a girl who thinks she's not scared of anything – even ghosts! If you would like to find out more about Sarah, you can do so HERE. Emily's story is a fishy tale made famous by the fabulous Brothers Grimm. The two brothers Wilhelm and Jacob came from Germany and travelled far and wide collecting folktales and fairy tales. They wrote famous verions of Snow White, Little Red Riding Hood, Rapunzel, The Bremen Town Musicians and hundreds of other well-loved tales. This tale is all about making a wish. If you were granted your greatest wish, what would you wish for? We are now on PATREON! We have a special new club for superfans of our podcast. John Tartaglia has been working as a professional puppeteer since the age of 16, as one of the youngest performers ever to be in the cast of "Sesame Street." He earned a Tony award nomination for his Broadway debut in AVENUE Q, with additional stage credits in Disney's BEAUTY AND THE BEAST and SHREK THE MUSICAL. John's producing debut came with his Emmy-nominated preschool series, "Johnny and the Sprites" for Disney Junior, followed by creating the acclaimed musical IMAGINOCEAN that was re-imagined for PBS Kids as "Jim Henson's Splash and Bubbles." He can be heard every week on SiriusXM on Broadway's "Sunday Funday with John Tartaglia." John's newest project, a reimagining of the beloved 1980s series "Fraggle Rock," is streaming now on Apple TV+. John Tartaglia believes everything happens for a reason, and his career trajectory is a testament to this. He lets us into the world of puppetry and theatre as he shares his experiences, and how he got started in pursuing his “dual dream” of becoming a successful puppeteer and performing on Broadway. He talks about the influence of Jim Henson in his career, how devastated he was when Jim died, and how one earnest letter he sent Jim when he was eight years old led to working for “Sesame Street” as a puppeteer at the age of 16. He reflects on the profound impact of puppetry on audiences, recalling heartwarming moments from doing shows. He also talks about the process of creating characters for shows like “Fraggle Rock: Back to the Rock”, and finding the balance between practical puppetry and CGI. John offers advice to young puppeteers and performers, encouraging them to trust their passion, ignore naysayers, and being as certain in your dreams as possible. John Tartaglia is an Emmy and Tony award nominated actor who began his professional career at age 16 as a puppeteer for “Sesame Street”. His Broadway debut in “Avenue Q” earned him a Tony nomination for originating the dual roles of Princeton and Rod. His other Broadway credits include Lumière in “Beauty and the Beast” and originating Pinocchio and the Magic Mirror in “Shrek The Musical” on Broadway. He has received eight Emmy Award nominations for “Johnny and the Sprites” on Disney Junior, a show that he created, executive produced, and starred in. John is also an executive producer, director, writer, and radio personality. He most recently wrapped filming season two of “Fraggle Rock: Back to the Rock”, and this time he is also the creative supervisor for the whole series.
