I asked St. Thérèse to send me red roses if she approved of my boyfriend becoming my fiancé. At the grocery store, right next to the pop I was about to buy, was a dozen red roses that someone had obviously dumped. ---------- Hi! Trapper Jack here. We have some very cool stories of saintly intercession! This episode emphasizes that the Saints are not objects of worship, but heavenly friends who pray for us. Elizabeth and I are still scratching our heads on how a particular ring found its way back into our kitchen and was discovered in a most impossible place. Leslie, a non-Catholic, decided to throw a prayer toward St. Anthony, in hopes of getting her dog back. She also let St. Anthony know that it was her first time, and that Trapper Jack said it was a good idea. Meanwhile, Sarah was looking to St. Thérèse of Lisieux for her usual sign of roses, if the saint was on board with Sarah's choice for a husband. A dozen red roses were soon found in the grocery store where red roses should never be found. Finally, Steve recounts his personal encounter with the future St. Padre Pio, who suddenly stopped after mass to give a special blessing to the young boy. It's one thing to hear from the book of Romans, ‘God works for the good of those who love Him.' It's quite another to hear someone living it. In the blink of an eye, Susie's life was changed forever. I was listening to Fr. Mike Schmitz talking about the five second rule in regard to food on the floor. But, at the same time I was reading a book about a different five second rule that can literally change your life, in five seconds. ---------- Hi there! Trapper Jack here. A WWII Methodist Pastor joins a resistance organization that is attempting to assassinate Adolf Hitler. While the pastor believed murder was evil, Bonhoeffer also believed that the action was justified because Hitler posed a greater evil. Ultimately, Bonhoeffer was martyred. Do you ever wonder what you would do if faced with saying yes or no to Christ when your life was on the line? Tammie has been pondering that question for about 18 years. It was then that she experienced a vision, or dream, of kneeling and praying in a jail cell knowing that she was about to be executed for her Christian faith. As we gathered around the Thanksgiving table this year, somebody brought up the original Thanksgiving story of Pilgrims and such. The 102 souls who ventured from Europe for religious freedom. It gave me an opportunity to share the much bigger story which occurred in the same timeframe. Few seem to know about the 60,000 indigenous people, otherwise known as Indians, who were baptized into Christianity, right here in what we now call America. Since I have not talked about this on the podcast for more than five years, let's have a go of it again. It opens the door to the saintly types who walk among us, in particular, the venerable Maria de Ágreda (Mary of Jesus) who bilocated to what is now the southwest of the United States from her convent in Spain. This sister, in her blue habit, was seen flying in and out of what we now call Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas. Don't believe it? The music that has bubbled up in my head comes from the movie Superman with Christopher Reeve. It's a particular piece of music that plays while Superman is taking Lois Lane on a flight over Metropolis. We hear her thoughts. As she wonders, 'Can you read my mind? 'I'm holding hands with a god.' Spiritualized, the scene leads us to the reality that God is always reading our minds. If you reflect on the last few episodes, it's all about our minds. Are we sharing the mind of God, or have we created God in our image? Sadly, we are finding out how often we are in opposition to our heavenly Father, and His Biblical View. The upside in this episode is what the Holy Spirit can do within us, when we are in alignment with Him. It's fantastic and supernatural! Have you ever pondered the gospel where Jesus has locked up the house that is headed for heaven. In this parable, the crowd arrives and says, ‘open up,' but Jesus says, ‘I do not know you. Go away you evil doers.' You and I assume that we are inside the house, right? Well, that crowd had the same assumption. That big crowd had apparently never figured something out. Maybe I've missed something. In this episode we will see where the crowds are gathering, and where they are not. We will even see what they cheer about. I had some knock down drag out arguments with God. ‘Where's my husband? Everyone else is married.' That's when I had two dreams about my future husband. ---------- Hi! Trapper Jack here.  I remember reading a much-publicized Newsweek article, almost 20 years ago, that said single women over 40 were more likely to be killed by a terrorist then to find a mate. Cheery thought, yes? Fortunately, it was nonsense, but caught on as a hapless truth of a middle-aged life.  Question… Did you pray to have God provide your spouse? Did you pray after marrying the ‘wrong' one? Did you receive a sign that your mate was on the way. In other words, was God invited into the discussion? Love conquers all in this podcast episode as Jennifer finally had her marriage prayers answered at age 46. Vickie waited eleven years for the guy to show up that she had seen in a vision. Gina was apparently married to the wrong man for 25 years. Miraculously, a pilgrimage Gina and her husband made to Medjugorje had Gina asking her newly converted fellow, ‘who are you and what did you do with my husband?' These three stories would fall under the category of, ‘with God, all things are possible.' "As soon as I turned the corner and saw it behind the glass, the hair stood up on the back of my neck and I felt this incredible warmth. It was like ‘whoa!'" ---------- Hi! Trapper Jack here. As I think about it, it's really a rather simple story. Rich wanted something. He prayed for it. He got it.  Did Rich pray directly to anyone of the three in the Trinity? No. The one he approached for his intercessory prayer happens to be the one known as the Saint of impossible causes. Here, God is awakening us to a basic truth. However you approach God, He is listening. In this case, it was the communion of Saints who were asked to intercede for Rich. Some ask, "Why would you pray to dead people?" Well, first off, they are not dead. Even Jesus was seen by some of His apostles talking to ‘dead' people, namely, Moses and Elijah. Maybe a bigger question is, what does prayer while looking at the Saint's bone remains, have to do with anything? In this case, Rich, was dealing with irreversible pain from a boating accident. Asking for the impossible. Shockingly, even to Rich, the impossible prayer was answered. Interesting how this story got the attention of an atheist friend of Rich. Sometimes, God is just trying to get somebody to awaken to the truth about God and prayer. In this podcast episode, we have three seminarians telling the exact same story of being young, strong swimmers, plunging into the ocean and being carried out to a watery grave by a strong riptide.   If this sounds a bit familiar, the Holy Spirit is going to build on this recent topic. In all three drowning seminarian stories, frantic prayers were prayed, and divinely sent angels changed the course of history. God intervened in order that these three men in formation became Fr. John, Fr. Michael, and Fr. Paul. All will swear that they were saved by God to serve Christ. But that is not the end of the story.   This is also a story where Jesus teaches us a lesson about feeling underwater in life. I've added a great message from Fr. Hi! Trapper Jack here. Happy birthday Mary! The mother of our Lord is about 2038 years old and doesn't look a day over 1873. How does she do it!? I have a very special devotion to the mother of Jesus, since all the signs indicate that she was the one to come after me. She is the one who turned me back to God some 25 years ago.   September 8th is the traditional day that we celebrate Mary's birthday. It also was the day five years ago that I was asked to give a talk about Mary, on her birthday. One of the stories that I told was what had happened just two days before her special day. My wife, Elizabeth, and I were in Eucharistic adoration at our church. Sitting before Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament is not supposed to be a time to take a nap, but I did. During the snooze, I had a very special dream that was delivering a message to me. As you will hear in this episode, the dream inspired me to learn more about Mary, church history, the Bible, etc. The dream told me to strip away the ignorance that I had about all the above.   Mary's message to me included the same message that she had delivered to all of us 2000 years ago at the wedding feast of Cana. 'Do whatever he tells you.'   So, here is my birthday present to our Lady. It is a reminder of where we have been, where we are now, and where we are going. Robert Righi sees angels. On several occasions, as a hospice worker, he has been called to the bedside of a young child who is about to be escorted to heaven by an angel. The rosary has had success in stopping tanks, thwarting a serial killer, muting the force of an atomic bomb, and creating unforgettable moments for this week's podcast guests. "Pray the rosary every day." This has become the often repeated message from Blessed Mother Mary at her many apparitions. Why is praying the rosary so important for any Christian? The answer comes from the rosary's very inception. Mary told St. Dominic in the early 1200s, "Pray the rosary every day. Preach the rosary. It is your greatest spiritual weapon." "It took a Jewish girl to tell me to pray the rosary," said the Catholic woman to Karen Shapiro (the Jewish girl). Are you of the misunderstanding that only Catholics pray the rosary? With the enormous power and protection of the rosary, everybody is happily getting into the game. Tricia's 4-year-old son had a Mary encounter through the rosary. 'Not all the boys are going to make it.' This was the expressed expert opinion of those who created the diving plan that would extract the twelve boys and their assistant soccer coach from a perch 2.5 miles inside a Thailand cave. Can you surprise an angel? Six-year-old Angie would say yes, "The angel looked shocked when he noticed that I could see him."  For now, we can only identify one of our episode guests as 'The Angel Lady.' She had a powerful encounter with an Angel which brought about an increase in what she says is intuition. We will see, in time, if what she told Trapper Jack comes to pass. "She had such a beautiful smile on her face. I knew immediately that it was Mary."  Dar Harold was in awe. Why was the mother of Jesus standing in her bedroom in the middle of the night? The answer came one hour later in a phone call from her father. Mary Jo Dockman McCormick figured that these things only happen to other people. It was just hours after hearing Trapper Jack speak at the St. Edward High School Moms' Club when Mary Jo experienced her own special moment with our Heavenly Mom. The question, when contemplated, can stop you cold and drive you into self-examination. But when you hear the same question asked twice from two different people, is God up to something? A God incident leads Trapper Jack into playing for you his recent talk to the St. Edward High School Moms' Club. Trapper again spoke about how heaven and earth are colliding every day. "God is attempting to get our attention and draw us into a deeper relationship," Trapper stated. The resulting standing ovation from the 300 women was not unusual. "I am not that good," Trapper said, "but the powerful message resonates." With half the baptized millennial's no longer claiming to be Christian, trapper offered his own reversion to the faith as evidence that the miraculous can bring our young people back to the church. Comments? 888-563-3228 My Week On The Road I spent Wednesday with the Cincinnati Podcasters meetup which was a great time of sharing information about what is and isn't working in podcasting. If you are in the Cincinnati area, you should make the trip. From there I went to Nashville for the first ever Podfecta event which was organized by my friend David Hooper. This event used my favorite format which is one track, one room, so all participants get the same information. It's a great way to build community. Then I went to Craft Content Nashville which was an "unconference" (much like the old days of Podcamps). This had over 50 speakers with TONS of tracks. while not all the sessions I attended were stellar, I did walk away with some great info, and got to network and answer some questions. Both events brought in food which made networking very easy. What is a Valuable Show? Jennifer Briney does the congressional dish podcast and did a presentation and the put up a slide that asked, "What is a Valuable Show?" and for Jennifer, it is "An Impressive display of public Entertainment that is useful or important. So Good They Can't Ignore You I listened to the Book "So Good They Can't Ignore Your (Why Skills Trump Passion in the Quest for Work You Love) and he goes hard against the strategy of "Following your passion and the money will come." It's a very interesting book and I agree with some of it. He talks about to move forward you need to develop skills that are rare and valuable. This leads to more jobs where you start to control more of your destiny. He also points out and gives many different illustrations on how few (if any) people can say exactly what they want to be when they grow up. Most people talk small steps (doing rare and valuable work) which leads to more opportunities that lead to you having more control over your life (when you are rare and valuable, you control and call more of the shots). The Law of Remarkability: The law of an idea remarkability. Your podcast inspires people to remark about it and if it has the ability to be spread in a venue that supports these remarks. He also talks about having a goal of acquiring skills that are rare and valuable. I want to take this idea and use it as criteria for your podcast. Jennifer Brinery read a bill going through Congress that was over 2000 pages. I'm pretty sure it's rare that anybody would read that (the Senators receive a summary that was four pages) and in regards to really getting a good picture of what is going on in Congress, Jennifer provides a ton of value. Podcast Monetization I got to meet in person Jeff Sanders who is the author of the 5 AM Miracle and The Free-Time Formula (Hear my interview with Jeff Here) did a great job of giving some great insights into having advertising on your show (for the 10% that have enough downloads to support CPM models) and Jennifer Briney of Congressional Dish (hear my interview with Jen)provided a stellar presentation on creating a podcast that is 100% listener supported. In both presentations, Jeff and Jennifer pointed out that it took YEARS to build the audience big enough to be able to do this full time. Don't Quit Your Day Job We have seen people who are super successful. Their pitch goes something like this, "I can show you how to make a million dollars and not pay taxes. Step one, give me a million dollars." In his book So Good They Can't Ignore You author Cal Newport tells the story of a young blogger who was "fed up with living the conventional life working nine to five for the man with little or no time and little money to pursue my true passions so I've embarked on a crusade to show you and the rest of the world how an avergae Joe can build a business from scratch to support a life devoted to living the dream. The business he referenced (as is the case with most Lifestyle designers) is his blog about being a lifestyle designer. In other words, his only product is his enthusiasm for not having a normal life. " Enthusiasm alone is not rare or valuable and therefore is not worth much. I Couldn't Believe My Ears In talking with a brand new podcaster, I was shocked to hear they had QUIT THE MARKETING JOB that they had been doing for years to start a podcast that didn't scream "EASY TO MONETIZE." Jennifer mentioned how she had taken a part-time job as a waitress so she could still do Congressional Dish and pay the bills until the show was built up enough to jump to full time. We think it's courageous, we think if we don't jump now we never will, and so we jump. Dave Jackson's college physics professor told Dave, "somebody up there likes you." The professor understood divine intervention. There was no other possible answer. Because of My Podcast Randy Goers of the Drone Radio Show When you start a podcast you are seen as a digital influencer and today's example of something that wouldn't have happened if it wasn't because of their podcast is from Randy Goers who produces the Drone Radio Show. He explains how he is able to make great connections, and be able to attend Drone events with a press pass. He recently was able to interview one of the senior vice presidents of Intel who is in charge of directing their drone policy and program. That all happens Because of my Podcast. How to NOT Make Money with a Podcast Today I start a new segment that will appear from time to time with Jessica Kupferman who runs the www.JKMAgency.com and helps podcasters find sponsors. This segment is to help podcasters looking to monetize their podcast by helping them avoid the mistakes other are making. Keep in mind, you do not have to monetize your show. In this first initial segment, Jessica explains that when quoting numbers to a potential sponsor the number people are interested is your episode downloads after 30 days of being available. Monthly stats don't count because in that monthly downloads are episodes in your back catalog (and the sponsor is not going to be in those episodes). While most podcasters are not crazy about the CPM Model (where you are paid a certain amount of money for a thousand downloads, such as 30 CPM would mean when your episode goes over 1000 downloads you would be paid $30). If you're creating a media kit, you need to have a dollar value in mind so that when people ask for it, you're ready. Being secretive about your pricing is not going to help you. Yes, everything is up for negotiation but you have to have a starting price. His show might be seen as controversial as he interviews people who have been healed by a local Dr. Issam Nemeh. As much as I don't want to admit it, I can be an "excuses guy." Miss an appointment with a client? Blame it on not enough sleep or a congested calendar. Bad night playing volleyball?
