In this classic replay from 2022, she pulls back the curtain on the "black box" of payers and national accounts, explaining what medical directors and CMOs actually do inside insurers, employer health benefits teams, ACOs, and value-based care organizations. She walks through day-to-day work in utilization management, quality, pharmacy, innovation, and employer-facing roles, as well as the credentials and experience you need to be considered for these positions. Dr. Clapper also looks ahead to emerging opportunities in telehealth, data and EHR optimization, startups, women's health, and executive coaching.

Shine on!

He describes how he first discovered regulatory writing, why it felt like the right balance of science, impact, and flexibility, and how that path allowed him to work, study, and eventually step away from traditional clinical roles. He then outlines what regulatory writers actually do: drafting protocols, investigator brochures, and clinical study reports. And why the work is a strong fit for clinicians who enjoy clear, technical writing and are willing to learn the drug-development process. Along the way, he talks about salary expectations, personality traits that help (discipline, proactivity, comfort with timelines), and the practical steps clinicians can take to move into the field and eventually build their own regulatory writing business. Shine on! Anke Richter — international journalist, author of Cult Trip, and founder of Decult — delivers a clear and uncompromising message about how high-control groups silence their critics. Before Decult's 2024 cult awareness conference, there was fear about even mentioning the Plymouth Brethren Christian Church because of their reputation for litigation. But the truth was spoken anyway.Anke lays bare the reality survivors face: the shame, the stigma, the loss of privacy, the trauma triggers, the therapy bills — and then the legal threats. Most survivors don't have publishers or lawyers backing them. They speak out alone. And they pay the price. She calls out the brutality of using “big legal guns” against activists and survivors, especially when it comes from charities acting as the PR front of a coercive religious group. Her message is simple: this is about power, intimidation, and silencing. And she will not shut up about it.To every podcaster, YouTuber, and public speaker being bullied for telling the truth — Kia Kaha. Stand tall. Working as an ER tech, COO, and corporate VP, he saw firsthand how opaque markups, slow credentialing, and rigid contracts hurt both hospitals and physicians, and why it made sense to rebuild the process from the ground up. He describes how that experience led him to launch SendIt, a platform that lets physicians contract directly with hospitals, set their own hourly rates, control their availability, and treat clinical work more like flexible fractional gigs. Along the way, he demystifies how hospital finances really work, how administrators think about coverage and service lines, and what doctors should understand before negotiating, signing up for locums work, or relying on staffing agencies You'll find links mentioned in the episode at nonclinicalphysicians.com/restore-physician-autonomy/

Drawing on 17 years of ownership, she walks through what she would do differently if she were starting again today and why careful planning at the beginning determines whether a medspa becomes a sellable asset later. She focuses on practical decisions that matter most: negotiating the lease and build-out, choosing services that don't require expensive devices, hiring lean part-time staff, defining a clear niche, and thinking like a small-business owner rather than just a clinician. From there, she moves into strategies for growth and profitability, including high-ROI services, KPI tracking, inventory control, staff involvement in cost savings, and preparing systems and numbers that make your medspa attractive to future buyers. He explains how he created and refined this niche, what attorneys actually need from physicians at the settlement stage, and why the work is both lucrative and rewarding. In this classic replay, she explains what preventive medicine residency and practicum experiences look like, how the specialty positions physicians to work on systems, policy, and wellbeing, and why it can be a good fit for those who are less drawn to high-intensity, visit-based clinical work. She also talks candidly about her own severe burnout, the tools that helped her recover, and the "ReST" framework—Revive, Strive, Thrive—that she now uses to guide her work with both individuals and organizations. Along the way, she offers practical ideas for recognizing burnout earlier, using mindset as part of the treatment plan, and creating psychologically safer, more sustainable workplaces.
