[22:27] - Flow state magic: What gets us into it (spoiler: puzzles and cleaning included!). [27:51] - The #1 predictor of happiness: Relationships and why they matter so much. [30:17] - The power of community and intentional connection. [31:25] - Finding purpose in your work—however you define it. A similar result was observed in teens. The researchers determined that it isn't a case of playing video games making people ugly – the results “suggest…the better-looking have a…comparative advantage in social interactions as an alternative leisure activity”, so they logically spend more time with close friends and romantic partners, and less time gaming. A new study found that a surprising 85% of parents report being delighted to have their adult children back home. Talker Research surveyed 2,000 parents of children in their 20s who are currently living at home. And while the results certainly tell of a generation that is struggling with financial independence, parents seem to be overwhelmingly supportive of their kids who have come home to roost. Even though 27% of parents said they weren't financially prepared for their child's extended stay, two-thirds are using the time together to teach money-related lessons, including saving, budgeting, paying down debt, and investing.HAPPINESS HACKS' BACKED BY SCIENCE :University of Bristol researchers say that you'll only experience the lasting benefits of happiness if you practice these tips regularly. In a study, those who did were found to have better mental wellbeing 2 years later…✓ Conducting acts of kindness: It's true! Just try it.✓ Increasing social connections: For example, try striking up conversations with strangers. (People really do this?)✓ Savoring experiences: For that matter, savor each meal as well. You'd be surprised how good a ham sandwich can taste if you really pay attention!✓ Drawing attention to the positive parts of your days: For example, write down “3 Good Things” that happened today.)✓ Expressing gratitude: Try writing a gratitude letter to someone you never properly thanked.✓ Getting sufficient sleep: The researchers pointed out that while 7-plus hours is recommended, some people may need 8 or 9 hours in order to be well-rested.✓ Engaging in physical activity: OK, this one may not bring you happiness at first…!Trying out mindfulness and other meditation practices: It can't hurt – unlike that last one about physical activity!

Kayla shocks Stacey and questions whether or not we should end the podcast. Stacey talks about the rejection she faces every day in her career, and Kayla takes back something she told to listeners to do. We want you to watch the show Paul T Goldman and The Jinx SO bad, but we also discuss how we are furious when people recommend shows and videos to us. We go through a list of awesome (and not so awesome) HAPPINESS HACKS, Stacey cries, and then we tell you about last week and the most physical pain we have ever experienced in our life. Happy New Year!  I invited my friend Tiffani Casey to join me for this fun-filled episode we're calling Happiness Hacks for 2023.  Goal setting and resolutions aren't always easy, and we often abandon them because we get overwhelmed and can't live up.  So this year, we're focusing on things that bring us happiness.  If we live our life leaning in to the things that make us healthy and happy -  spiritually, physically and emotionally - we just might find ourselves going through 2023 with much more joy in our lives.  I know this conversation will encourage and inspire you…and I'm so glad you are here for it. Remember to share this episode with a friend- it would mean the world to me!Mentioned in the show:Spiritual Life HacksSecrets of the Happy Soul by Katie Orr HERELet's Read the Gospels with Annie F Downs Podcast HEREKat Armstrong Storyline Bible Studies HEREYouVersion Bible App HEREHealth HacksYuka App HEREMel Robbins Podcast HERELiquid IV HEREHydramate HEREThe Nike App HEREMental Happiness HacksSoundtracks by Jon Acuff HEREHope Unabridged Podcast HEREWhitney Houston's 1991 Super Bowl Star Spangled Banner Performance HEREBetter Help HEREKasey Brennan Enneagram Coaching HEREThe Road Back To You HEREChatologie Episode 11: Beth McCord Part 1 HEREChatologie Episode 12: Beth McCord Part 2 HEREBlack Liturgies Instagram HEREConnect With Angie:Website https://www.chatologie.com/IG: @angiebrownelkinsTwitter: @AngieelkinsFacebook: @chatologieangieelkinsConnect With Tiffani:IG:  @tiffanilcaseyProduced and Edited by Lainie ThomasContact: lainie@angieelkinsmedia.com for more info
