It stars Sydney Sweeney (who also produced), Álvaro Morte, Benedetta Porcaroli, Dora Romano, Giorgio Colangeli, and Simona Tabasco. The plot focuses on a young novice, who is invited to reside at a picturesque Italian convent, but slowly realizes the terrifying secrets it harbors. Immaculate premiered at South by Southwest on March 12, 2024, and was released theatrically in the United States by Neon on March 22, 2024. The film received mostly positive reviews and grossed $28.4 million worldwide. Sister Mary sneaks into a superior's bedroom at night and steals a ring of keys to escape through the locked gates of a Catholic convent. Four hooded figures capture her and break her leg, then knock her unconscious. Mary later wakes up in a coffin and is buried alive. Young novice Sister Cecilia turned to Christianity at an early age. After surviving a drowning in a frozen lake and being declared dead for seven minutes, Cecilia is convinced God had saved her for a purpose. She receives an invitation from Father Sal Tedeschi to join a convent in Italy that tends to dying nuns. Cecilia takes her final vows to adhere to the evangelical counsels and becomes a nun, being decorated with a rosary. Plot[edit] I Saw the TV Glow is a 2024 American psychological horror drama film written and directed by Jane Schoenbrun. It stars Justice Smith and Brigette Lundy-Paine as two troubled high school students whose connection to their favorite television show drives them to question their reality and identities. The supporting cast includes Helena Howard, Lindsey Jordan, Conner O'Malley, Emma Portner, Ian Foreman, Fred Durst, and Danielle Deadwyler. Actress Emma Stone and her husband, comedian Dave McCary, are among the film's producers under their Fruit Tree company. The film premiered at the Sundance Film Festival on January 18, 2024. It was given a limited theatrical release by A24 in the United States on May 3, with its theatrical release expanding to Canada and nationwide in the US on May 17. The film marks the second entry in what Schoenbrun refers to as their[a] Screen Trilogy, following the film We're All Going to the World's Fair (2021) and preceding an upcoming trilogy of novels titled Public Access Afterworld.[4][5] Plot In 1996, isolated teenagers Owen and Maddy bond over the young adult television show The Pink Opaque, which follows teenagers Isabel and Tara as they use their psychic connection to fight the villain Mr. Melancholy, who has the power to warp time and reality. Owen's father Frank derides him for watching the show, while Maddy feels deeply connected to it. Two years later, while watching The Pink Opaque, Owen notices Maddy crying. Maddy explains that she has resolved to run away to escape her abusive stepfather. She implores Owen to join her, but he loses his nerve and stays. Owen's mother Brenda dies from cancer, Maddy goes missing, and The Pink Opaque is canceled after five seasons.

Randy from the Straight Chilling Podcast joins Caitlin to talk about I Saw the TV Glow, a surreal new A24 movie from director Jane Schoenbrun. We talk about identity, gender, memory, nostalgia, and the importance of media. With its smart direction, melancholic tone, moody aesthetic, both universal and specific themes, and potent symbolism, it's a real accomplishment of a movie, and we have a lot of love for it. Tangents include: Fred Durst, childhood television, a Mia Goth character FMK, cryptids, first movies, pizza toppings, and, of course, edging.

Where has the joy gone in digital advertising? And how can we get it back? James Chandler, chief marketing officer at the IAB, thinks that while the start of the digital scene was "an incredibly exciting space", the feeling of "joy and magic dissipated" somewhere along the way.In a study with advertisers, the IAB found that this came down to two things: "unease" about the pace of change and a feeling of "futility mainly around creativity", where advertisers do not feel "they have got much agency" in a world of algorithms and AI.Indeed, as Chandler acknowledges, in a seven-year career at the IAB, there have been "big moments" including brand safety, fraud and ad-blocking – all of which have had "advertisers questioning the integrity of the performance of digital".So the focus should be on getting people to "rediscover" joy, fun and creativity in digital advertising.Chandler joins Ella Sagar to discuss joy in digital advertising and highlights sessions from the recent Engage conference, including talks from former UK MD for Twitter Dara Nasr and EssenceMediacom's Geoff de Burca and Lindsey Jordan. After her 2018 debut Lush catapulted Lindsey Jordan into the spotlight, she was suddenly working harder — and more regularly — at the age of 18 than most people work in their lives. The tours, interviews, and TV appearances kept coming, and with them a growing cult of personality surrounding Jordan. All of this and more is explored on Valentine, the new album from Snail Mail. Where 2021 found many artists scaling back their productions into its more bare bones (see: Clairo and Lorde), Jordan used the opportunity to flesh out the Snail Mail sound substantially. BREAKING NEWS! Indie rock it-band Snail Mail has an all-new lineup! Don't worry, Lindsey Jordan is still there — only now, so is Fred Armisen and comedian Mary Lynn Rajskub (24, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia). On our second Talkhouse Podcast episode recorded backstage at the wonderful FORM Fest, the three form a group on the spot, then, with instruments in hand, improvise songs about: How they’re actually the new Snail Mail lineup; Chef Boyardee; Neil Young; "lemon squares that Mommy made"; Jesus’ selective saving tendencies (that one's titled called “Here Comes The Son”), and loads more. We also witness spoofs of Queen and Beyonce; hear thoughts on fergiepeepants.jpg; learn about foot fetishists and Wikifeet; take in some sarcastic breakdancing; consider gentle piss modulators; and find out why Mary Lynn is convinced Lindsey needs to get pregnant immediately. This Talkhouse Podcast and video was recorded in the Conservatory backstage at FORM Fest in Arcosanti, Arizona. Pulp Arts and Patreon teamed up to co-present The Conservatory, a rad backstage visual arts installation and recording studio. Talkhouse recorded six episodes there throughout the weekend, so subscribe to make sure to catch upcoming shows, including: Kelsey Lu & Yrsa Daley-Ward Julianna Barwick & Mary Lattimore American Football & Pelican L’Rain & Melanie Faye You can also check out the just-released first episode from the fest, featuring jazz and hip hop legend Robert Glasper with a giant of African music, Malian guitarist Vieux Farka Touré, plus an appearance by Lonnie Holley. —Elia Einhorn, Talkhouse Podcast host and producer @eliaeinhorn Today’s episode was co-produced by Mark Yoshizumi. It was recorded at FORM Festival in Arcosanti, Arizona, and at Hook and Fade Studios in Brooklyn by Mark Yoshizumi, Danny Clifton and Ian Jones. Research assistance was provided by Madalyn Feltus. The Talkhouse Podcast’s theme song was composed and performed by The Range.

Our guest for episode 24 of My Favourite Elliott Smith Song is Lindsey Jordan. 2018 has been a great year for Lindsey and her band Snail Mail. They released their debut album, Lush, in June and they’ve been touring pretty much non-stop ever since. So we were really lucky to catch her during some rare time off at her home near Baltimore, Maryland (USA) to talk through her favourite song pick, as well as how she finds rare Elliott tracks and why she connects so much with musicians who made their names during the 90s. Hope you enjoy it.   **Extra things to look at / listen to: ** * Dancing on the Highway by Elliott Smith (this song has never been officially released so we have to link to YouTube): [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xawASIzzJRQ](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xawASIzzJRQ) * In the Lost and Found by Elliott Smith: [https://open.spotify.com/track/2xVikBZt3KxyUR7o8NGYDU?si=g37K4qzaSh25ycCc57c6Ug](https://open.spotify.com/track/2xVikBZt3KxyUR7o8NGYDU?si=g37K4qzaSh25ycCc57c6Ug) * Stereogum’s albums of 2018 – with Snail Mail at #2: [https://www.stereogum.com/featured/the-best-albums-of-2018/](https://www.stereogum.com/featured/the-best-albums-of-2018/) My Favourite Elliott Smith Song is produced by Rob Comba and Elizabeth Withstandley. www.MyFavouriteElliottSmithSong.com

Snail Mail began as a solo project of teenage singer and guitarist Lindsey Jordan. Her outstanding debut album, Lush, contains 10 deeply confessional tales anchored by 90s-inspired lo-fi indie riffs. Joined by guest host Jennifer Buchanan of Indie Shuffle, we talked to Lindsey about finding a "soul-sister" in Liz Phair, reenacting Say Anything's iconic boombox scene, and why Kristen Stewart is her #1 celeb crush.

Recently, I had the chance to talk with two of the leading lights in contemporary indie rock. First, we visit 19-year-old phenom Lindsey Jordan of Snail Mail, whose full-length debut due next month, "Lush," is one of the most anticipated indie releases of 2018. But when we spoke, Jordan was eager to get past the hype and talk about two of her great loves: hockey and guitar shredding. Next, we met up with Molly Rankin of the delightful fuzz-pop group Alvvays in late April at the National's Homecoming Festival in Cincinnati. She told us about her Celtic folk past, and how studying Teenage Fanclub's 1991 classic "Bandwagonesque" helped her become one of contemporary indie's best writers of melancholy rock songs.
