Another week, another Sunday episode reacting to a Scottie Scheffler win on the PGA Tour. Andy and Brendan recap Sheriff Scottie's 16th career victory after he defeated Ben Griffin by four shots at The Memorial. Brendan reads through some stats to help put Scottie's three-year run in some historical context before Andy runs through Scheffler's 2017 Walker Cup teammates to show how much his game has improved in eight years. The two are downright giddy that Ian Baker-Finch dropped a "Sheriff" on the broadcast on Sunday which was promptly added to the soundboard. Andy and Brendan also tie up some loose ends on The Memorial by chatting about strong weeks from Ben Griffin and Sepp Straka. Speaking of good weeks, Jordan Spieth and Rickie Fowler made the most of their sponsor exemptions and Andy is not happy about these free invites into Signature Events. The U.S. Women's Open had some setup issues at Erin Hills after near-six hour rounds became the norm all week long. Maja Stark won her first major championship, another first-time winner at the U.S. Women's Open. Brendan and Andy also discuss Lexi Thompson's stance that she did not "retire" after her sendoff last season. The two then finish up the recap portion of the show with notes from the Austrian Open and a playoff edition of Champions Tour Minute before previewing "Golf's Longest Day" on Monday, even though the name may no longer accurately describe the event.

Inspired & mentored by the legendary 27x LPGA Tour winner, former world number 1 & LPGA Hall of Famer Lorena Ochoa, Isabella talks about what Lorena's influence has had on her and for Mexican Golf in general! Isabella is from Ciudad del Carmen in Mexico and took up Golf at the age of 4 Inspired by her father. She also went to the Oklahoma State University with the likes of Maja Stark and got to 28 in the WAGR at Amateur level which included multiple titles most notably 2017 North & South Women's Amateur Championship. Isabella also competed at 2021 Palmer Cup for Team International, 2021 NCAA Women's Match Championship, 2x at Augusta National Women's Amateur & finished 76th at 2022 Chevron Championship as an Amateur. We have arrived at the 2nd Major of the year in the Women's game this week as the players head to Pennsylvania for the 79th US Women's Open at the fantastic Lancaster Country Club! It is the 2nd time that the US Women's Open has been hosted at this William Flynn classic design where it hosted the tournament in 2015 where a 20 year old In Gee Chun would win the first of her 3 Majors and maintains a special affiliation with Lancaster! With Nelly Korda winning 6 out of her last 8 events including the first major of the year at Chevron beating Maja Stark it is easy to see how it could take a mammoth effort to stop Nelly winning another major and making it 7 wins in 9 but we are here to guide you through some of the best other players! Craig is joined by Scott Mader (@BJays 129) on Twitter to discuss who can mount a serious challenge to Nelly in Pennsylvania this week on a course that demands high Greens in Reg/Par 4 Scoring/Approach/Driving Acc with multiple elevation changes, angles of shots/tiny greens & Conestoga River flowing through the course, this US Open should be an interesting viewing to see who can mastermind a strategy of such a stern test. Who has the patience to win a US Women's Open title? Thanks to Scott for coming on with me to chat who we fancybwith a couple of regular plays in both cards! I'd like to say if you are struggling with anything related to Mental Health please reach out to someone it will make the world of good! In this week's podcast, hosts Alex Lauzon and Michael Russell talk about the debauchery at the Waste Management Phoenix Open, Taylor Swift at the Super Bowl, and chat with top golf coach Martin Chuck and rising LPGA star Maja Stark. The Waste(d) Management Pheonix Open hit a nerve with unruly behavior and bad weather, but a Canadian took the win in extra holes (1:57). On the Korn Ferry Tour, we got a new low low low low low round as Cristobal Del Solar notched a 57 (8:38). LIV Golf has found a formula of being in the right place at the right time as they hosted their tournament in Vegas the week of the Super Bowl (10:17). Over on our YouTube channel you can catch more videos of our time at the PGA Show, including a video with past guest host Elizabeth Diane Veith exploring the plethora of women's golf fashion on display (13:48). Our first guest is a Golf Digest Top 10 Coach, inventor, and the man behind the Tour Striker Academy, Martin Chuck. In another Chasing Pars player exclusive interview sponsored by Golf Tips Checker I was absolutely delighted to be joined by 1x LPGA Tour winner, 5x Ladies European Tour winner & 2023 Solheim Cup star Maja Stark who becomes my 25th Professional Player interview. In this brilliant episode with Maja we find out about her background growing up in the village of Abbekås in Sweden growing up with an older brother they would play competitively in most things against each other. We find out that Maja was in the same year & went to the same school as none other than Ludvig Åberg & Linn Grant while Madelene Sagstrom was also at the same school in Helsingborg. Craig asks some quick fire questions to find out more about Maja with a nice little discussion on ABBA (Why Not?). It was at the age of 15 where Maja would start to get noticed by Top Swedish Coaches & managed to get into university at Oklahoma State University where she was a First Team All American & won 2021 Big 12 Championship with Oklahoma State. Other Amateur accolades include being on the 2017 Junior Solheim Cup Team for Europe, Winning the European Girls Amateur Team Champs with Sweden, winning European Amateur Team Champs 3 times with Sweden & being a part of the successful International side at 2020 Palmer Cup at Bay Hill. Maja turned Professional in 2021 & since then she's been relentless when it comes to getting wins with 6 wins in a 2 year spell on LET Tour & which includes the win in 2022 at the Co-sanctioned ISPS Handa World Invitational at Galgorm Castle which would help secure full LPGA Tour status. 2023 was a decent year for Maja with T2nd at Tournament of Champions in the opening event & T4th at both Honda LPGA Thailand & Women's Scottish Open events. Maja would win Lalla Meryem Cup on the LET beating Linn Grant by 4 shots & would also get to play in her first Solheim Cup for Team Europe at Finca Cortesin contributing to 2 & a half points for Europe on Debut. An experience that Maja says she will never forget. As Tournament of Champs starts up next week I ask Maja about her goals going forward for 2024 with making back to back Solheim Cup teams the top of her list along with the Majors. We mention about Maja & Linn's friendship but eagerness to beat each other every time on the Golf course & we also talk late about what to expect from WAGR number 1 Ingrid Lindblad and what the future holds for Ingrid when she does finally turn pro. It was amazing to speak to one of the best players in the world again & to try and process what goals they try to achieve & what obstacles they have to overcome to achieve them. Maja was a lovely person with an even better Golf game & is a future Major Champion in waiting! Please Like, Download & Subscribe on Podbean & Spotify I want this episode to reach as many people as possible!
We have reached Solheim Cup week! On the latest episode of The Slam - in association with Callaway - Matt Chivers and Matt Coles look ahead to the match between Europe and America at Finca Cortesin. The team considered who would be the star performers on each side, with both Suzann Pettersen and Stacy Lewis having an abundance of experience and freshness at their disposal. Who will Charley Hull be paired with in Spain? Will America's Solheim Cup veteran Lexi Thompson be paired with the impressive Rose Zhang? America has two major champions as rookies, Lilia Vu and Allisen Corpuz, but will they trump the youth of Linn Grant and Maja Stark? There are so many dynamics to consider. The Matts also look back on the BMW PGA Championship which was superbly won by Ryan Fox, despite making a triple-bogey on the front nine at Wentworth. With the entire European Ryder Cup side in the field, how pleased will Luke Donald be with his team's performance? Also, we congratulate Sahith Theegala on his first win on the PGA Tour at the Fortinet Championship after many heartbreaking near misses. You know what to do!
The PGA TOUR is back with the Fortinet Championship to kick off FedExCup Fall - the seven-tournament continuation of the 2022-23 season. Kira K. Dixon caught up with defending champ Max Homa and JT in Napa. Over on the DP World Tour, all 12 European Ryder Cup team members are in the field this week at the DS Automobiles Italian Open. Golf Today welcomes Guy Kinnings, Deputy CEO of the Ryder Cup. Looking ahead to the Solheim Cup, Damon and Eamon got to chat with both United States team member Megan Khang and European team member Maja Stark as they prepare to face off in Spain. Back in the saddle, or studio, should we say, as the guys kick off the official/unofficial start of Season 3 with a recap of the official/unofficial start to the new PGA season by discussing Max Homa's improbable win at the Fortinet Championship out in Napa! The "golf gods" giveth, and then taketh away for Englishman Danny Willett, while the "local boys" do some good as well. Maja Stark makes a run on her first official/unofficial LPGA start stateside, but it's former Stanford star Andrea Lee breaking through for her first LPGA win up in Portland. Keith and J-Teal (with Scott's call-in help) talk some LIV tour action with new "golden boy" Cam Smith getting the win and the guys ask why "Mr. Norman is going to Washington." We see the return of college golf, with the OSU and OU men getting their fall season's started, but the back half of this pod is dedicated to the President's Cup, as the guys break down formats, rosters, pairings and the (boring) course at Quail Hollow. All that, and so much more this episode of the YSO podcast!! @ysogolf @sports_prose @ScottyG21 @DirtyBirdiesDFS @chalkokc https://fantasysportsprose.com/ https://chalkokc.com/
