Attention, leaders: In this episode, we pull back the curtain on how today's tech—especially smartphones and rapidly advancing AI—shapes our attention, cognition, and relationships. Think of it as a friendly readiness briefing for the digital battlefield: what's helpful, what's harmful, and what to do about it. We start with the attention economy's not-so-hidden costs. Since the iPhone's 2007 debut, most of us check our phones around 80 times a day—roughly 30,000 micro-moments a year. Each ping isn't just “a quick look.” Interruptions can cost about 25 minutes of focus, plus another 15 to regain momentum—like slamming the brakes and then flooring it… over and over. Even having a phone within eyeshot reduces cognitive horsepower. The antidotes are simple and strong: get the phone out of sight, use Do Not Disturb, and turn off nonessential notifications. Your brain will send a thank-you note. We also unpack the health side. Late-night screens suppress melatonin and scramble sleep. Kids' near-constant screen time correlates with rising nearsightedness and less outdoor play—cue the reminder that bodies were designed to move. We touch on concerns around electromagnetic exposure and why daylight, movement, and device-free rhythms restore the human system you're leading with. Then we head into AI's fast-evolving frontier—from search engines to bots to what some call “synthetic intelligence.” Devices can now read faces and respond, and the line between “reading our minds” and influencing them is the new debate. We revisit the manipulative design patterns highlighted in The Social Dilemma and ask the leadership question: how do we protect character, privacy, and agency when algorithms know our tells better than we do? Boundaries become the hero of the story. Like a playground fence that lets kids roam freely, clear digital guardrails create real freedom at home and at work: no phones at the dinner table, tech-free zones, device bedtimes, and sacred spaces for eye contact and physical presence. These aren't anti-tech rules; they're pro-human habits. Because face-to-face interactions, touch, and unfractured attention are the nutrients of healthy relationships and resilient teams. Finally, we elevate the spiritual and social stakes. Tech that fragments empathy shrinks our capacity to serve. We explore the lure of transhumanism and the risk of losing what makes us distinctly human—then chart a better way: lead with character, protect attention like it's mission-critical, and use technology as a tool, not a tyrant. Your next steps: watch The Social Dilemma (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uaaC57tcci0&t=2s), implement family and team boundaries, get outside, and keep learning about AI so you're not led by it. This isn't about fear; it's about formation—shaping lives, families, and organizations where technology serves what matters most. "Love, Live Lead and Trike On!, Coach Dane"

What if the life you're craving isn't built by doing more — but by taking it all apart first? In this soul-stirring conversation, I'm joined by leadership coach and author Lindsay Leahy to explore what it really means to live, lead, and work with intention. Through the lens of her new book Take It All Apart, Lindsay invites us to dismantle the expectations, fears, and old narratives we've outgrown—and rebuild from a place of truth, peace, and purpose. We talk about the courageous work of reconnecting with yourself, the power of solitude in a noisy world, and why living with intention isn't about checking more boxes—it's about creating a life that feels like yours. Lindsay also shares tangible practices to help you reclaim your energy, realign your priorities, and take grounded action toward the life you're meant to live.If you're standing at the edge of change, feeling the nudge to rewrite your story, or simply ready to stop settling for a life that doesn't fit—this episode will meet you right where you are and call you forward into what's next.In this episode, we explore:Lindsay's journey of realizing success didn't equal fulfillmentWhat it really means to live, lead, and work with intentionThe power of solitude and rebuilding connection with yourselfHow survival patterns and limiting beliefs shape our livesLindsay's "Dumping Exercise" for reclaiming your energy and clarityCreating moments of silence even in busy seasonsDefining core values and setting aligned goalsBuilding supportive relationships as you evolveMoving through imposter syndrome and self-sabotageWhy healing yourself is the most powerful leadership work you can doIf this episode resonated with you, I'd love to hear what sparked for you! As entrepreneurs, we face perpetual mental hurdles, worrying and pushing forward constantly to scale our businesses to the next level. This constant hustle can sometimes mask insecurities and fears. In today's episode, Leisse Wilcox joins me to dive into stepping into your true self, leveraging your unique confidence and letting it guide you. Leisse is an expert in imparting confidence, and we talk about this crucial aspect of entrepreneurship. Leisse Wilcox helps women make more money. She is on a mission to help entrepreneurial women generate a million more dollars in revenue in 2024 alone. As a strategic business coach, 2-time best-selling author, international speaker, and mom of three tween girls, Leisse is the Marie Kondo of Your Unconscious who helps you end self-sabotage, increase your revenue, and stop playing small. Stepping into your true self and leading with authenticity can be daunting, especially in our online-saturated world where conforming to societal standards seems easier. Despite this, we must focus on who we are, allowing our identity to steer us towards our business goals. The Journey to Achieving Confidence Leisse elaborates on her approach to achieving this unshakeable confidence. She outlines a seven-step plan to attaining confidence, starting with understanding that confidence is a choice, following through with integrity, and finally defining what success looks like to you personally. In an insightful conversation about the meaning of success, Leisse candidly speaks about the importance of defining personal success. For her, success means leading a simple life with her family, doing work she is passionate about, and making a worldwide impact. Overcoming Self-Sabotage Leisse identifies self-sabotage as one of the significant struggles for entrepreneurs. It often concertizes as deep-rooted fears and insecurities, leading to procrastination and self-doubt. By gathering and sharing the necessary information and understanding your patterns and biological reactions to situations, you can start implementing strategies to counteract self-sabotage. The main Antidote combines self-awareness and curiosity about our thoughts, followed by challenge and change. Finding Freedom in Confidence Upon achieving true confidence, we talk about how clients often describe the feeling as transformative and freeing. It enables entrepreneurs to redraw their norms, venture out of their comfort zones, and appreciate each step along their entrepreneurial adventure. My advice to fellow entrepreneurs is straightforward: "Trust Yourself." Trusting your abilities may sometimes be challenging in the fast-paced world of entrepreneurship, but it is a vital part of the journey to success. Living your entrepreneurial journey with unshakeable self-confidence can elevate your business. While the path to confidence may be littered with hardships, you can build the foundation for lasting success. So whether you are just setting foot in the entrepreneurial world or have already built your empire, remember to trust your abilities, face self-sabotage head-on, and let your accurate, confident self-guide -- you.   We talk about:  0:00 Intro 3:47 What does unshakeable confidence mean to Leisse 4:51 The hurdle of social media and what is shown to us 6:17 Tips for people struggling to figure out who they are + her top 3 pillars 8:07 What does success look like for Leisse 13:55 3-step progress to reprogram your mind 24:35 How to not let complex challenges bleed into everything with your clients and business 25:59 What life looks like for the truly confident 27:42 Biggest struggle of high performers 35:48 Antidote to self-sabotage 37:37 One piece of advice for entrepreneurs    Resources mentioned in this episode: Join my masterclass: https://learn.lisaanne.ca/social-media-lead-gen   Connect with me Website - https://lisaanne.ca  Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/LisaAnneCoaching Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/LisaAnneCoaching YouTube - http://www.YouTube.com/LisaAnneCoaching  LinkedIn - www.linkedin.com/LisaAnneCoaching Connect with Leisse Website - https://leissewilcox.com/ Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/leissewilcox LinkedIn - https://www.linkedin.com/in/leisse-wilcox-197a31112/ Pinterest - https://www.pinterest.ca/leissewilcox/ YouTube - https://www.youtube.com/channel/

Don't want a boring relationship? Then listen to this episode. When you feel like you're stuck on a hamster wheel of life, it can negatively impact your partnership. One of our marriage vows is to live and lead from desire, meaning we're committed to charting our own path and embodying our authentic expression versus defaulting to the stifling messaging we received growing up. In this episode, we discuss where this marriage vow stems from and how we support each other in upholding it. Within our cultural context, it can be difficult to allow ourselves to tap into what we desire, let alone act on it. Between various religious frameworks, the subordination of women, and rigid standards of success, going on autopilot and doing what's accepted tends to feel safer. But, when there's little thought put into our decisions and actions, the possibility for growth, both individually and as a couple, shrinks. In this episode we share practices to help us rise above the daily noise of life that can keep us from hearing the deeper internal layers of our authentic desires and truths. We also share why having a relationship that feels safe and secure is essential in accessing, and then living into, the unfiltered desire and mission of our soul's purpose. This week, we invite you to do some self-inquiry and find out what you desire. What do you notice when you start to ask yourself questions about what you really want? Listen to the episode on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Google Podcasts, or on your favorite podcast platform. Topics Covered:How we relate to desire as individuals and within the context of our marriage Unpacking the layers of conditioning that mask our desires The impacts on our relationship when we're not leading from desire Why it can be hard to stay in contact with desire Rituals that support our connection to this marriage vowResources Mentioned: The Art Of We Weekly NewsletterGet in Touch: The Art Of We WebsiteThe Art of We Instagram Integrative Psychiatry Institute: Integrative Mental Wellness & Psychedelic Therapy TrainingRate, Review & Follow on Apple Podcasts: If you want to show your support for this show, please consider rating and reviewing The Art of We on Apple Podcasts. Planning your next launch and wondering what free resources and lead magnets work best? Do you run webinars, a challenge, a virtual summit, or some combination of the 3? In this episode we cover the pros and cons of each. Key points in this episode: * The purpose of your launch is to take your potential clients on a journey so they know what it feels like to work with you, the value you provide, and the transformation that is possible, so that clicking the ‘buy now' button is a no brainer for them. * Live lead magnets are one of the best and easiest way to convert people into paying clients. * Choose the option that will allow you to really show up and give value by being you. Dr. Ken Keis is a global authority on behavioral assessment strategies and process and an expert in leadership, purpose and wellness. He is an author, speaker, podcast host and life coach who focuses on holistic living, self-awareness, self-mastery, and Dr. Ken Keis –Live, Lead & Work with Purpose emotional intelligence. As the President and CEO of Consulting Resource Group International, Inc., Dr. Ken believes his purpose in life is to help others live, lead & work with purpose. At his core, Dr. Ken believes every person is here for a reason and every single person has a contribution to make. Dr. Ken himself spent 6 months with a coach to find his purpose. He even hand wrote over 60 pages of narrative to get a clear direction of his purpose. Before hiring a coach, Dr. Ken grew up on a dairy fam and woke up one morning asking himself, “Would it be okay if I was doing what I am doing now 20 years from now?” The answer was no, and Dr. Ken went on his self-discovery journey to determine what to do next. Driven by the data which states only 13% of the global workforce is engaged in their work, Dr. Ken is motivated to make a difference. Not only are you doing a disservice to your employer if you are unfulfilled working 6-10 hours a day, but you are doing a greater disservice to yourself. Meaning really comes into engaging and doing what you love. Dr. Ken asks you to ask yourself: Can the majority of what I'm doing have an intrinsic meaning? He encourages everyone take responsibility of their life and to find their true purpose and passion.  So many people are confused. They are not willing to do the work to find their purpose or passions. So many people are too busy being busy. Many people have jobs to pay the bills, but are live in fear to change what they are doing. The certainty of misery versus the misery of uncertainty. Sometimes when someone is on a new path, they feel like they constantly have to explain themselves. Dr. Ken encourages you to make the changes best for you. Keep your relationships, but understand you are not going on the same path your loved ones may be on. Seek advice from those who have been in your position before, in your desired field, and those who have “been there and done that”. Do not expect past relationships to continue as your journey goes. You may feel guilty about leaving people behind, but remember you have left them stronger and better. You are on your own journey and you cannot always take everyone with you.  Part of Dr. Ken's work is to develop the whole person and a person's whole potential. All of the cogs in the wheel are important as part of the development pathway. Dr. Ken explains how important it is to be a lifetime learner and to not get too focused on certain things. As clarity increases, performance increases. High performers know who they are and where they are going. Dr. Ken helps his clients to create clarity to have them optimize and realize their potential. We all have talent and something valuable to say, find your pathway to say it. If you do not know what your purpose is, then your first purpose is to find your purpose.  As a free gift to the listeners of the Roots of Leadership, Dr. Ken is providing an electronic copy of his newest book: The Quest for Purpose. Please visit: www.kenkeis.com/roots to access the book and begin your journey to live, lead, and work with purpose.

What's the new way to live, lead, earn and give? Peta Kelly says it's simple -- and it begins and ends with our alignment. Peta always lived with a desire to serve others. Her interest in serving our collective health led her first to network marketing, where she sold Isagenix health products. Her belief in the product and magnificent hustle led her to become a millionaire through this business by age 26, when she retired her single mom, and began to launch her own businesses. She even launched herself on a worldwide speaking tour. Because as she began to create, powerful messages began to come to her, and to move through her human channel. She began speaking worldwide, and creating epic sh*t of her own. She also felt a call to help people change their "money story", something we discuss in-depth in this interview. Her most recent message, lovingly and powerfully laid out in her first book, released earlier this year, is that "Earth is Hiring." That there is a "New way to live, lead, earn and give for millenials and anyone who gives a sh*t." And it begins with raising our vibration to meet Mother Earth at her highest frequency and creative brilliance. We've got it wrong when we believe we need to save the Earth, Peta says. Mother Earth is a bad*ss creator - all she needs us to do is remember that we are, too, and rise up to meet her. She says the most important thing anyone can do to meet this collective calling now, as the world rushes toward transformation, is to put your alignment first. Stop doing sh*t you hate, and recreate your life to be and serve what you love. Live in your "tap". We have everything we need, all the time to flow effortlessly with nature, and to create infinite abundance, solutions and service for others. One of the (many) awesome things about Peta that comes through in this fun, power-packed, call-to-action of an interview is that she is human as f*ck. She is no guru, but an awakened human being who has aligned with her soul's purpose and opened her own tap to allow the flow of a powerful message that is within and resonant to all of us - human beings and magical creators in one.Be who you are, and the magic within you here and now will be effortless, Peta tells us. It might even raise the vibration and change the world. Enjoy! The post OS66: Peta Kelly – Earth is Hiring, Our New Way to Live, Lead, Earn and Give appeared first on Ownstream.
