Faith leaders including the Archbishop of Canterbury and Cardinal Vincent Nichols have welcomed a new report which calls for better support for asylum seekers. It comes from a commission set up to consider how refugees might be helped to integrate into society more easily. It makes a series of recommendations and suggests that the current system creates barriers to asylum seekers who want to quickly make good use of their existing skills and qualifications. The government says it's committed to ensuring refugees can take positive steps towards integration as they rebuild their lives in the UK.It's 300 years since J S Bach's setting of the Passion narrative from St John's gospel was first performed on Good Friday at the St Nicholas Church in Leipzig. This week many of the UK's cathedrals and churches will be marking the anniversary by performing it. The composer, conductor and singer, Bob Chilcott celebrates the work and reflects on what is one of the most revered of all musical settings of the Passion. Does religious education at school help young people when they get a job? Lord Karan Bilimoria, a former president of the CBI, thinks it can. He believes RE helps young people to navigate the complexity of modern belief and the diversity of worldviews in the UK today. The businessman, who is from the Zoroastrian tradition, has launched a campaign urging employers to support higher standards in religious education. We hear from Lord Bilimoria, and also from the National Secular Society who feel there are better ways to equip young people for the workforce.Presenter: Edward Stourton Producers: Jonathan Hallewell and Alexa Good Editor: Dan Tierney

In light of the NHS in the UK recently warning that obesity is becoming the 'new smoking', I chat to Chris about OurPath helping those trying to lose weight and prevent the onset of Type II diabetes. Before we dive in, I've got a new podcast for you to check out. Those of you who are regular listeners to the show will know that I launched the Screw It, Just Do It podcast agency back in the summer. The aim is to help busy entrepreneurs and brands connect wit their ideal customers by creating podcasts for them. The first one is off the production line and straight into the Apple Music Chart at #39. It's called the Festival Of Enterprise, a FREE two-day event at the NEC in Birmingham, which the organisers wanted a podcast to promote as part of their marketing strategy. The event features 150+ speakers over two days and is for entrepreneurs and business owners, with the aim of helping you grow your business faster. I've put together interviews with the likes of Lord Bilimoria, founder of Cobra Beer, Trustpilot founder Peter Holten Muhlmann, Fran Boorman, Melanie Eusebe and a few former guests of this show in Piers Linney and Camilla Ainsworth. Got to Festival of Enterprise to grab your free ticket and download the podcast. I'll be there over the two days speaking and chatting to a number of the speakers. I'm working on another six podcasts for a mixture of brands and entrepreneurs to launch this autumn, and have capacity for another three more before the new year.If you'd like to have a chat about helping put together a podcast for your brand, be that business or personal, please get in touch by emailing alex@screwitjustdoit.org Chris Edson and his Co-Founder, Mike Gibbs, met whilst both were working as advisors to the NHS. Having seen the impact of lifestyle diseases on both people and health services first-hand, they decided to quit their jobs back in 2014 to try and find a solution. Diseases like Type II Diabetes cost the NHS over £10 Billion per year and are preventable through lifestyle interventions. So they created a programme that would help people live a healthier life, free of chronic conditions. Within a year of launching they became the first online behavioural change programme to be commissioned by the NHS. They've since been recognised in the Top 50 startups in the European Union and both Chris and Mike were featured in Forbes 30 under 30 list. I met up with Chris to find out more. Let's StartUp!

He went on to highlight the importance of international students to both universities and the wider UK economy before pointing out the loss of funding which will result from leaving the EU, he then drew this conclusion: 'Brexit is a huge mistake. It is a sword hanging over our universities, be it our students, academics and our research.'

Talks on Entrepreneurial Leadership at London Business School - TELL Series

Ever wondered what it’s like to start a beer company in your 20s, export to 50 countries and reach an annual retail turnover of £178 million? (and get knighted in the process too). Join TELL Series on Wednesday 20 April in welcoming Lord Karan Bilimoria, founder of Cobra Beer. Karan founded Cobra at 27 when he was a Cambridge law graduate with £20,000 in student debts. He delivered beer in an old Citroen 2CV, while his friends worked for the likes of the Goldman Sachs. Since then, Cobra has become one of the fastest growing beer brands with offices in 4 continents, serving 50 countries. Within the UK alone, Cobra has a current retail value turnover of £178 million, is sold in nearly 6,000 bars, pubs and clubs and in over 12,000 branches of supermarkets and off-licenses throughout the UK. Cobra Beer also went through its trials and tribulations. Karan almost lost the brand several times in the past years, especially during the 2008 financial crisis when Cobra lost out on key investments. Ever the undeterred entrepreneur, Karan persevered and Cobra has been on a roaring comeback ever since. Competing against brands that are centuries old, Cobra has become a household name in less than two decades. Cobra beer has won numerous accolades and Karan himself was appointed as a Commander of the British Empire (CBE) in 2004. He also won EY’s Entrepreneur of the Year in 2003 and Business Person of the Year by the London Chamber of Commerce and Industry in 2004. In 2006, Karan was appointed The Lord Bilimoria, of Chelsea. His talk at London Business School is part of the 2015-2016 Tell Series talks and it was recorded on 20 April 2016 at London Business School. Britain and India are two countries united by 200 years of shared history but now with an ever growing distance in ties. India is a rising global economic powerhouse: Britain a former imperial power in search of a global boost to its ailing economy. When the British prime-minister David Cameron visited India in February, he took a 100 strong trade delegation with him. Amongst them was the Indian born British entrepreneur, Karan Bilimoria, who was founding chairman of the UK-India Business Council. Is Britain becoming more irrelevant to India today?
