In the third episode of the podcast, Camille and Ella discuss the fourth episode of the fourth season of Halt and Catch Fire, which is named after the the 1994 Winter Olympics Tonya Harding/Nancy Kerrigan incident. Who's Halt's Tonya and Nancy? We've got a few ideas... Weirdly, we're discussing this the day after a film about Tonya Harding premiered at the Toronto Film Festival to a barnstorming reception, so kudos to Halt for preempting this resurgence. Ella is a journalist and critic of anything pop culture and arts as well as a student. You can read her in publications like Vanity Fair, The Guardian, Little White Lies, Junkee, SBS, Brisbane Times, Metro Magazine, Screen Education, and Kill Your Darlings. Camille is a history graduate and aspiring film editor.
In the fourth episode of the podcast, Camille and Ella discuss the fifth episode (halfway!!) of the fourth season of Halt and Catch Fire. It's the second last week of Halt and Catch Fire ever, a fact we're actively avoiding. In the seventh episode of the podcast, we talk about the show shifting gears once again to create a mournful, human masterpiece in 4x08 'Goodwill'. It asks the question the show has from the very beginning: how do you put a human in a box, to capture what it is capable of in a machine? Ella is a journalist, critic, and student from Brisbane, Australia. You can read her in publications like Vanity Fair, The Guardian, Little White Lies, Sydney Morning Herald, Junkee, SBS, The Age, Brisbane Times, Metro Magazine, Screen Education, and Kill Your Darlings. This week we had to go out with a bang, so I asked one of my favourite journalists to talk about how journalism can make its mark on society. 30 years ago, Metro Magazine published Sandra Coney’s story An Unfortunate Experiment. Sandra and her co-author Phillida Bunkle exposed how Professor Herbert Green of National Women’s hospital had been conducting an experiment in secret on women to prove his theory on cervical cancer. He was wrong, and dozens of women died preventable deaths. The feature led to the Cartwright Inquiry, which was a watershed moment for patient rights, and in particular for women. The ripple effects of this story go far and wide, which makes Sandra the perfect person to answer my question: how can journalism change the world?

All The President's Minutes is a podcast where conversations about movies, journalism, politics and history meet. Each show we use the seminal and increasingly prescient 1976 film All The President's Men as a portal, to engage with the themes and the warnings of the film resonating since its release. For minute thirteen host, Blake Howard joins film and television critic, Cameron Williams. Blake and Cam discuss the casual mood that opens the film, the stack terrific vocal performances from people on the other end of the phone and climax with Cam's infuriation that the great Roger Ebert only awarded All The President's Men three and a half stars out of four. About Cam Williams (Via Twitter) Heard: ABC Radio. Seen: ABC News. Words: ABC Arts, Junkee, BirthMoviesDeath, The Big Issue, Crikey, Metro Magazine.
