Two ENTJ's walk into a room… and Keehlan starts producing their podcast Myer Briggs personality test has identified Jac and Ral as both ENTJ's – extroverts, no surprise there. However personality is not your destiny. And personality is different to character.   “Oh that's just the way I am” is a line many of us have used… However when we say this we are giving up personal responsibility for our actions and impacts.   If you recognise your biology and sociology aren't destiny, you will bring a growth mindset to your work and life — a belief that you can change, learn, develop, and adapt. Finally, it means you care more about the impact you have on others vs just doubling down on “you being you.”   So the next time you get a piece of feedback about your approach, rather than dismiss it by saying “it's just my personality,” try starting the conversation by admitting you are capable of something different and better. Listen in to the tips and techniques we share on this.   Enjoy Keepers! --------------------------------------------------------- New Episode Every Monday Follow the show https://www.instagram.com/keepingitrealwithjacandral/ https://open.spotify.com/show/5yIs5ncJGvJyXhI55Js0if?si=aCNOdB68QnOGnT0vCTPcPg Follow Jac https://www.linkedin.com/in/jacphillips/ https://www.instagram.com/jac.phillips.coaching/ Follow Ral https://www.linkedin.com/in/gabrielledolan/ https://www.instagram.com/gabrielledolan.1/ Produced by Keehlan Ferrari-Brown

SHOW NOTES: In This week's Mind ReMapping Moment, we talk about Understanding Our Children's': Developing Personalities Through Myer-Briggs Lens. As a parent and educator, I firmly believe that empowering ourselves to understand our kids' personalities is essential to help them grow and develop into happy, healthy adults. Before we dive in, let me give you a brief overview of Myers-Briggs. It's a popular personality profile test that categorizes people into 16 different personality types based on their preferences for certain traits. It's important to note that this tool is not meant to box people in but rather express tendencies based on these personality types. The first category we'll discuss is introversion versus extroversion. Contrary to popular belief, being introverted doesn't mean you're shy or timid. Instead, it measures where people derive their energy. Do they recharge by being around people, or do they primarily recharge by spending time alone? It's important to understand that introversion and extroversion are not black and white; rather, they exist on a spectrum. The second category is sensing versus intuition. This category measures how individuals process information. People who prefer sensing focus on tangible, present things and require external feedback to know how to move in the world. Those who prefer intuition are more internally focused, imaginative, and tend to connect patterns and possibilities. The third category is thinking versus feeling. Thinkers rely on facts and logic to make decisions, while feelers make decisions based on values. It's important to note that while people often think of thinkers versus feelers as logic versus emotion, everyone ultimately makes decisions based on their emotions. Thinkers tend to rely more on their logic, while feelers' decisions are more influenced by their values. For example, let's say you have an introverted child. If you understand that they recharge by spending time alone, you can give them space when they need it and encourage them to engage in solitary activities. On the other hand, if you have an extroverted child, you can help them find opportunities to socialize and recharge with others. Similarly, if you have a sensing child, you can provide them with hands-on experiences to help them learn and process information. If you have an intuitive child, you can encourage them to explore their imagination and provide them with opportunities to connect patterns and possibilities. If you have a thinking child, you can provide them with logical, fact-based information to help them make decisions. If you have a feeling child, you can help them understand and navigate their emotions and provide them with opportunities to make decisions based on their values. Finally, if you have a judging child, you can provide them with structure and routine to help them feel more secure. If you have a perceiving child, you can give them space to be spontaneous and creative and provide them with opportunities to explore. Despite what most people realize, it's the unconscious mind that runs us. But how is that so? Get your first primer in 17 minutes! Follow and Share these pearls with others. Show Transcript Episode 31 - What is Human Design Hi Beautiful Soul, I am so excited about today's episode because it is about something I am very deeply passionate about which is human design! I also love how more mainstream human design is becoming because the information within human design is so powerful and truly life changing. What is Human Design? So what is human design exactly? Human design is a system which helps you to better understand yourself, your human personality self which is termed your conscious self and your unconscious self which is what we call your design, your soul. It's a blend of spirituality and science of the modern day and the ancients pulling together astrology, I Ching the Chinese book of truths, Kabbalah, the Chakra System, Vedic Philosophy and quantum physics through neutrinos which carry energetic information passing through your body every second as examples. It has been called the ‘science of differentiation,' ‘the next generation of self knowledge,' ‘new astrology,' the ‘science of the aura,' ‘the intersection of science and spirituality.' It's known as a guide, map, manual to your life as well or a snapshot of your unique energy. It was channeled by Alan Krakower who went by the name of Ra Uru Hu in the 80's/90's after having a mystical experience where he was given the system what we know as ‘the voice'. It's only recently become more well known and mainstream.Human Design is based on a body graph and you'll see a lot of numbers, symbols, shapes, lines which can be very confusing and that's where I come in to read your chart and interpret your manual to yourself. The right hand side of the chart represents your conscious self at the time you were born whereas the left hand side represents your design imprinted three months before you were born.  Why Human Design? There are many tools and modalities which can help you understand yourself better whether its astrology, personality tests like enneagram or Myer Briggs, tarot cards but for me what stands out is human design because of the depth of information and the practicality of it. It's not just a map to understanding who you are it, also gives you the insights and tools on what to do with this information, how to live, how you can apply it to any area of your life which I have seen with clients whether its business, career, your love life, making money, your life's purpose and so fourth. Human Design is a tool for understanding yourself better and how to best apply yourself in the most authentic and alignment way. It shows you how you are unique, there are literally over 2 billion different combinations of human design. You can have the same energy type as someone and be completely different because there are so many different parts to your human design: your energy type, your authority, your profile lines, your variables, your life energies, energetic channels, actual variables the list goes on! The thing I hear the most from people who have had a reading is how validated they feel. They go ahhhh this is why I am the way I am which is a beautiful thing. To release fears that you aren't ‘normal' or perhaps that you're ‘broken and messed up' because you aren't. Working with clients the way I like to help people understand this is through this perspective. Your soul chose to come to Earth. It chose to be in your body, with your personality and agreed to various things/circumstances/people in your life to learn the curriculum it wants to. In spiritual terms, karmic bonds, soul lessons and so fourth. When we approach life like this, there's this relief. The universe and your highest self isn't making life difficult on purpos...

Most people have a general idea about how their colleagues or team members work best. You may occasionally pick up a random fact about a person's personality or work style, but it's rare to have the full picture. The result: we are frustrated by our coworkers because we don’t understand them and they don’t understand us. Today I talk about creating a Personal Instruction Manual, or PIM for short. A PIM is a resource that describes a person’s personality and working preferences, and its purpose is to help that person’s coworkers and manager better understand and work with them. Similar to an instruction manual that comes with a new piece of hardware or software, a PIM helps people understand how to engage with someone most effectively. The full episode guide includes a template for creating a Personal Instruction Manual. You’ll find questions for each section to help the creator capture relevant insights about themselves. In addition, I’m offering an extra bonus this week. If you are interested in having me support your team to develop Personal Instruction Manuals, I will facilitate a team coaching program centered on PIMs at a 20% discount. Get these offers when you join the Modern Manager community or purchase the full guide at www.themodernmanager.com/shop. Get the free mini-guide at themodernnmanager.com/miniguides. Read the related blog article: Optimize Your Working Relationships with the Personal Instruction Manual Key Takeaways: Don’t waste time guessing what your teammates need. Craft and share Personal Instruction Manuals to explain how each person works most effectively. Each person learns and shares their Myer Briggs profile so everyone can better understand different thinking styles and behaviors. Explain what work environment you work best in: remote/office, quiet/noisy, deep work/meeting times, and most productive times of days. Share what types of things stress you at work and what behaviors indicate that you're feeling stressed. Explain how people can best support you at these times. Describe your communication preferences: How do you like feedback? How do you deal with conflict and what makes you feel appreciated?

Paul Rees is now the Director of Professional Services at Financial Force, the leading provider of ERP and Services Automation solutions on the Salesforce platform, based in San Francisco. Before this role, he was the co-founder of VFP Consulting, a fast-growing Salesforce and FinancialForce professional services firm based in Sacramento, California. Putting his business's growth in front of his family and personal health, Paul was forced to look at his excessive drinking and absentee life when he had a debilitating breakdown due to burnout. In the end, he made the difficult choice to leave his company and focus on his health and rebuilding his family. Paul has a fascinating story. Being deeply introverted and shy, he learned how to cope with chronic childhood illnesses and always being the new kid by creating personas through acting and music. When Paul started his career, he was miserable, always feeling exhausted at the end of the day because his job played to his weaknesses rather than his strengths. After learning more about himself through the Myer-Briggs and the StrengthsFinder assessments, his career took off, and he eventually started his own company, VFP Consulting. Quickly growing in the first few years, the desire to make the firm more successful consumed Paul. And he completely crashed and burned. Excessive drinking and complete burnout caused him to reevaluate his life, and he chose his marriage and his life over his business. I believe Paul's story will resonate with most of us. Why? Because so many of us focus on growing our careers and businesses at the expense of personal health and wellbeing. We don't fully appreciate our families and the health of our relationships. We sacrifice what matters most but don't always see it that way. When Paul broke down, he had to choose between his family and health, and his business. He walked away from the company he built to find balance and happiness again. Now, he isn't looking to advance his career. In fact, it's his mission not to. He doesn't want to be a CEO; instead, his mission is to stay healthy, balanced, and positively impact every person he interacts with. He finds daily satisfaction asking himself, "how can I make this person's experience better in some way?" and then acting in service of others. Paul is a profoundly brilliant and articulate person, and during this interview, you will gain so many insights and be inspired. I adore him, and I'm pleased to have gotten to reconnect with him during this interview. You can find Paul on LinkedIn:https://www.linkedin.com/in/paulrees/ Question of the Episode: "I am a CEO and am looking at building my brand, and I'm not sure how to get started. Is it worth doing myself, or should I hire someone?" My Answer: YES! I think every CEO, leader, and professional should be using social media, particularly LinkedIn, to build a personal brand. People want to connect with you and get to know you. Social media is an excellent way to share your unique ideas and thoughts. I have not hired someone to do my social media, as I am the best person to convey my thoughts, ideas, and messages in my voice. Maybe someday I will hire it out, but creating my own content is rewarding and allows me to show up as my authentic self. If you have started putting out content that you craft (don't just share other people's content), today is the day to get started.

The Myers Briggs Type Indicator or MBTI is a popular personality testing instrument which categorises personality according to 16 possible types based on four dimensions: Extraverted or Introverted, Sensing or Intuition, Thinking or Feeling, and Judging or Perceiving. The MBTI purports to help individuals choose the right careers, improve personal relationships, and to better understand themselves while critics argue it is an elaborate form of entertainment. In this episode we take a close look at the MBTI to see if it meets the criteria of validity and reliability used for evaluating all psychometric tests.Show NotesMyers Briggs Personality TypesMyers Briggs Personality Types TableMyers Briggs Most Common Personality TypesMyers Briggs Most Common Personality Types by GenderCareer Distribution by Myers-Briggs TypeWhy Myers Briggs is Totally Meaningless - VOXhttps://www.facebook.com/thehereandnowpodcast/ https://twitter.com/herenowpodcast emailthehereandnow@gmail.comSupport the show (https://www.patreon.com/thehereandnowpodcast)

Ready to learn more about you (and your kids and husband?). Well, you are in luck! I have a wonderful, fun (sanguine) woman on the podcast to introduce you to and get you excited about the four Temperaments.  If you have yet to look into the four temperaments, I encourage you to listen in. Chances you are you won't be a "pure" temperament. More likely you will have two strong temperaments, but looking into this help you understand your own strengths and temptations. Because remember, any pure quest to know ourselves better will bring us closer to God. First off, here is a very basic run-down for the 4 Temperaments. Sanguine: Optimistic, enthusiastic, active and social. Loves to take risks and has strong, short-lived reactions to things. They are most tempted by sins of vanity, lust and gluttony. Choleric: Independent, decisive, and goal-oriented. They are social leaders, logical and ambitious. They are most tempted my sins of pride. Melancholic: Analytical, deep-thinking and deep-feeling. They are often introverted and can have a deep interior life. Can be perfectionist with high ideals and plagued with anxiety. The are tempted by the sin of despair.  Phlegmatic: Relaxed, peaceful and quiet. They are sympathetic and care deeply about others and relationships. The often hide their own emotions. They are good at compromises and accept others easily. They are most tempted by the sin of sloth. We referenced lots of great materials while chatting! Here are some links to check out: Alex wrote a great piece about knowing yourself. Check it out HERE.  She has tons of great links to Temperament materials. We talked about this simple graphicas a quick way to understand the temperaments.  If you would like to look into your Myer Briggs personality, you can head HERE. How did you figure out strengths in your personality? What were they? Did you begin to embrace them, and build them even more? Where did that take you in life? How did you grow? Our guest today, Mary Shores, gets into that as we learn about her mission as a motivational speaker and a writer. Her first book, Conscious Communications, was born from her love of personal development, and she helps teach it from a place where science and spirituality meet. She believes that once you tap into your subconscious and harness your words, you have the ability to change your choices, behaviors and mind. From there, you will be able to bring areas of your life into alignment, begin to find yourself, and grow as an entrepreneur and a person. Her take on personal development really struck a chord with readers, and within six weeks of her book’s release, it became the number one Best Seller for Self Esteem, Communications, and Happiness on Amazon!  Before she wrote her book, at 24 she became the youngest person to become a CEO in communication strategy in 1999. She also created her own strategy that’s been used in business, and the health care industry for over 10 years! She said ever since she was a little girl, she always had that entrepreneur bug. Instead of playing house, she played bank, and arranged tables in her garage, drew up her own money, and set up accounts for the neighborhood kids. She even had a drive thru so they could pull up in their tricycles to make deposits and withdrawals.  In middle school she also set up a beauty supply store in her Lutheran school’s bathroom, so she could buy a $55 swimsuit, but she was kicked out once school officials found out.  Once her parents took note of her entrepreneurial drive, they allowed her to work at their collection agency when she was 13, and she got paid a dollar an hour to lick stamps, and envelopes. She eventually went on to work at a real bank, but was devastated when she was fired after her 90-day evaluation. She said it was the worst thing to happen to her in her young life, and it created a scar of unworthiness in her. She felt like she wasn’t good enough to get a job with anyone, so she thought the only way for her to make a living was if she started her own company.  With a few clients from her mom, and her naivety and youthful confidence in tow, she opened the doors of her collection agency! She said she was willing to handle anything that came across her desk, and was determined to build a great reputation and prove to herself and others her potential. Once she accomplished becoming a successful entrepreneur, she became focused on spiritual growth and personal development.  She went through an existential crisis because she wanted to reach concepts of enlightenment, and self actualization, but didn’t feel it fit into her career in debt collections. She said her profession wasn’t typically looked at as a positive thing, but she wanted people to look at paying off their debt as a release of a psychological burden. To her, it could become a foundation of shame and unworthiness, and keep people from starting their own businesses, applying for homes, or pursuing relationships. She wanted people to break down those barriers to live the life of their dreams, and have the freedom to tap into their authentic gifts to begin living according to their purposes. She said to find those gifts, people can do simple things like taking the Myer Briggs personality test, or a Disc profile, so they can know their strongest traits and what their challenges may be. She suggests highlighting the positive traits, and begin actively applying them to your life. For her it was speaker and leader, and she started stepping heavily into those roles in her business and industry, and her mission of changing people’s viewpoint on debt expanded into changing the entire collections industry! See how she did just that by listening to today’s episode! In this episode you will… Be able to find your authentic gifts Know what your strongest personality traits are, and start applying them to your life See how to inspire people within your industry to change their methods Be able to change the public’s idea about your industry Know how to create new neuropathways and understand your subconscious mind Figure out the best mindset to approach self help events with INSIGHTS "Our mind is built up of all these neuro networks that drive our behaviors, choices, habits, fears. Everything is coming out of this subconscious, but the magic is it can be changed…the way you get from here to there, is you gotta get all these areas of your life in alignment, and moving in the direction that you want. If we can accept that infinite possibilities are available to us…[we begin to do] things we that will connect us more to the things that we want, and stop us from flowing in all the uncertainty, and negative circumstances that swallow us whole.” – Mary Shores “I think we’re in this place where we love to get quick fixes. We love to go away to that weekend workshop that’s going to give us a transformation…What I’ve learned is that true transformation happens in small pivots over time…if I were to come to [an] event, I would pick out the things that I knew…and I would think, how can I apply these things to my life…At an event, you’re going to learn many concepts, and my goal is to come away with one…I don’t have this expectation hang-over anymore…[and] I’ve built myself into a lot of resiliency and strength, and the ability to even see how those concepts apply to my life.” -Mary Shores “My mantra was, ‘I want to write a book, but I’m not a writer’. And the thing is words are like a mirror to your subconscious programming, and when I [said] the words, ‘I want to write a book’ it [was] like you were looking in and seeing it written on my soul like a purpose. But the problem is the words, ‘I’m not a writer’ are also a mirror to my subconscious and it’s revealing to me one of those blocks…and so what I needed to do to eliminate that was to invest in myself.” -Mary Shores RESOURCES Mary Shores Website Mary Shores Guide Book Mary Shores Facebook Mary Shores Instagram Mary Shores Twitter Conscious Communications by Mary Shores Start with Why by Simon Sinek Website
