Many who leave the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints today become atheists. It is understandable why. They've spent the better part of their lives believing falsehoods, disillusioned by the way the LDS Church has portrayed its own history. But as our guest this week, author, apologist, and missionary to Latter-Day Saints Eric Johonson notes in his new book Introducing Christianity to Mormons, many former Mormons are still open to discussing questions of God's existence and what the Bible says about Jesus. This week and next on Apologetics Profile, President of Watchman Fellowship and former fourth-generation Latter-Day Saint James Walker sits down with Eric to discuss his new book and give you some sound doctrinal and practical insights in to how best to engage current and former Mormons with the truth of the Gospel.Eric Johnson has been a student of Mormonism since 1987 when he first served as a summer missionary to Utah. So? This was not like being out of cake at your wedding…  Remembered for not even being able to provide for the wedding let alone the bride and her future.  Huge embarrassment for the groom and the couple.    * The brides family could take the grooms family to court - How was the wedding… oh it was a little weird… they ran out of cake and the groom was served a subpoena from the brides father.      He does this on the 3rd day… John makes mention of this for a very obvious reason. This seems weird right?  Cana is about 2 miles north of Nazereth- that is where Jesus is from. That is where Mary had to live out her life as the woman who got pregnant before her wedding…  Maybe she is saying… prove to everyone that you are the son of God and that I am not crazy.  HE SAYS MY TIME HAS NOT YET COME…   BUT IN John 17… just before he is crucified in the garden he says “Father now my time has come”. Scripture of the Day:   Acts 3:1“One day Peter and John were going up to the temple at the time of prayer—at three in the afternoon.” Pray for Others You MeetI remember way back when I was in Bible School at Jerry Savelle Ministries, Bible Institute and School of World Evangelism. One of the requirements was that we had to witness to people and pray with them. We were to keep a record of that and turn it in every week to receive credit. I believe, if I'm remembering correctly, we needed three such instances every week. Anyway, I'm not positive on that so don't hold me to it. But it was more than one anyway… I made it a point to look for people that needed physical healing. And, truth be told, they are all around us. Just look at how many people are in wheel chairs, walkers or canes when you go to the grocery store. They may not be wheel chairs, but using those little carts, right? Well, back then, they didn't have those little carts everywhere like they do today. So I would look for people in wheel chairs. I would not interrupt their shopping or anything. But if they were sitting outside (probably having a cigarette, they could do that back then), I would zero in on them. My wife would see them about the same time I would and she would just step back because I would make a pivot and go into witnessing mode. Praise God! I would walk up and say something to the effect of, “Excuse me. As I was walking by, the Holy Spirit of God urged me to come over here and ask you if there was something I could pray with you about?” Usually, I would say 8 out 10 times anyway, they would say, “YES” and then tell me what they would like me to pray for. Sometimes it was their health, sometimes it was their family or finances, etc. That is what we are reading today from our scripture. Peter and John are walking into the Temple area to pray and they see this man at the gate. He's been there a long time. They've seen him on several occasions. He's not new to the town. But this day, something is different. Something about the man is different. Something about Peter and John is different, too. They sensed that God was about to do “something.” They did not know what it was. But they “knew” in their spirit – just like Simeon and Anna did when Jesus was being dedicated at the Temple, as we covered a few days ago. As they were walking up to the gate area, here is this beggar and he is doing what he did everyday, begging for alms. Begging for dollars.   Peter and John didn't have any extra money on them, but when the beggar looked into their eyes, the Bible says he looked, “Expecting.” It was like the Holy Spirit had prompted this man to identify these two strangers out of the crowd. It was like the Holy Spirit had told him (he probably did not know it at the time, but sensed it), that these two men were going to bless him with a tremendous gift that day! The Bible says he looked up at them, “expectantly.”  Most preachers will say, “expecting them to give him some money.” That could very well be the truth. But let's look at it from this angle and it makes a lot more sense. He is EXPECTING. Peter and John can “see it” in his eyes, the Bible says. And then, you know the rest of the story.  Peter says, “Silver and gold, we have none. But what we do have, we give to you. In the Name of Jesus of Nazereth (which this man must have heard about or it would not have activated Faith on the inside of him), GET UP AND WALK.” Praise God! But notice, Peter and John did not just “pray” for him and walk inside. No, they ASSISSTED HIM. They reached down, the Bible says, and grabbed his arm and yanked him up to standing position. As they did so, his ankles were strengthened and he walked and jumped up and down, etc. These were all things he had never done. He was lame from birth. He had never walked or jumped before! Amen! Well, the point I want to make – I could go on preaching on this for an hour – but the...

2000 years ago the world was dominated by tyranny and terror. This was how things had always been, and appeared the only means of obtaining and maintaining power. However, from a small corner of the Roman Empire, a radical movement began that denounced everything this world stood for and every way this world operated by. A Jewish carpenter from Nazereth proclaimed that God was using Him to usher in a Brand New Age, through and by bold new values. Jesus Christ claimed to bring favor from God for all people and that He had come to bring freedom to all people. He said that He came to break the chains of this world, and to turn everything upside down. He preached that Greatness in the Kingdom of God was not based on superiority or success, but on servanthood. He modeled this servanthood by loving everyone and giving everything He had. His death and resurrection punctuated and validated everything He stood for, and kicked off the Christian movement. His Church would go on to love, give and serve the Roman Empire to the point of starting a revolution. The ways of tyranny and terror gave way to the ideals of favor and freedom, and thus, western civilization as we know it began. 2000 years later, this forms the foundation for our western worldview and way of life. The ideas that love, generosity and service are virtues, are directly rooted in Jesus's influence on the world. While there are forces of darkness that oppose these values, now more than ever we must remember who we are. Jesus has called us to be salt, light and refuge in a dark, oppressed world. We must measure up to this task and always proclaim God's favor and advocate for freedom.

The ascension of our Lord and saviour JESUS OF NAZERETH to be with our father, the almighty GOD.

Joseph and Mary had to travel from Nazereth to the small town of Bethlehem, their hometown. Mary was nine months pregnant by the Holy Spirit and Joseph was obedient to God to become the child's earthly father. The journey was rough and there was no place to stay when they arrived, except for a stable for farm animals. This was the birthplace of Jesus, the Savior of the world. Are fear and love compatible ways of knowing Jesus? Why is "The fear of the Lord the beginning of all wisdom" (Prov 9:10)?  Allow Narnia's majestic Aslan, the king "who is not safe, but good" deepen your desire for holy fear! Let literature's greatest Christ archetype lead you to encounter the living God! The final passage mentioned in the episode where Lucy meets Aslan in "Prince Caspian" (C.S. Lewis): "... But for the movement of his tail he might have been a stone lion, but Lucy never thought of that. She never stopped to think whether he was a friendly lion or not. She rushed to him. She felt her heart would burst if she lost a moment. And the next thing she knew was that she was kissing him and putting her arms as far round his neck as she could and burying her face in the beautiful rich silkiness of his mane. "Aslan, Aslan. Dear Aslan," sobbed Lucy. "At last."The great beast rolled over on his side so that Lucy fell, half sitting and half lying between his front paws. He bent forward and just touched her nose with his tongue. His warm breath came all round her. She gazed up into the large wise face."Welcome, child," he said."Aslan," said Lucy, "you're bigger.""That is because you are older, little one," answered he."Not because you are?""I am not. But every year you grow, you will find me bigger."For a time she was so happy that she did not want to speak. But Aslan spoke."Lucy," he said, "we must not lie here for long. You have work in hand, and much time has been lost to-day.""Yes, wasn't it a shame?" said Lucy. "I saw you all right. They wouldn't believe me. They're all so——"From somewhere deep inside Aslan's body there came the faintest suggestion of a growl."I'm sorry," said Lucy, who understood some of his moods. "I didn't mean to start slanging the others. But it wasn't my fault anyway, was it?"The Lion looked straight into her eyes."Oh, Aslan," said Lucy. "You don't mean it was? How could I—I couldn't have left the others and come up to you alone, how could I? Don't look at me like that ... oh well, I suppose I could. Yes, and it wouldn't have been alone, I know, not if I was with you. But what would have been the good?"Aslan said nothing."You mean," said Lucy rather faintly, "that it would have turned out all right—somehow? But how? Please, Aslan! Am I not to know?""To know what would have happened, child?" said Aslan. "No. Nobody is ever told that.""Oh dear," said Lucy."But anyone can find out what will happen," said Aslan. "If you go back to the others now, and wake them up; and tell them you have seen me again; and that you must all get up at once and follow me—what will happen? There is only one way of finding out.""Do you mean that is what you want me to do?" gasped Lucy."Yes, little one," said Aslan."Will the others see you too?" asked Lucy."Certainly not at first," said Aslan. "Later on, it depends.""But they won't believe me!" said Lucy."It doesn't matter," said Aslan."Oh dear, oh dear," said Lucy. "And I was so pleased at finding you again. And I thought you'd let me stay. And I thought you'd come roaring in and frighten all the enemies away—like last time. And now everything is going to be horrid.""It is hard for you, little one," said Aslan. "But things never happen the same way twice. It has been hard for us all in Narnia before now."Lucy buried her head in his mane to hide from his face. But there must have been magic in his mane. She could feel lion-strength going into her. Quite suddenly she sat up."I'm sorry, Aslan," she said. "I'm ready now.""Now you are a lioness," said Aslan. "And now all Narnia will be renewed. But come. We have no time to lose."He got up and walked with stately, noiseless paces back to the belt of dancing trees through which she had just come: and Lucy went with him, laying a rather tremulous hand on his mane. The trees parted to let them through and for one second assumed their human forms completely. Lucy had a glimpse of tall and lovely wood-gods and wood-goddesses all bowing to the Lion; next moment they were trees again, but still bowing, with such graceful sweeps of branch and trunk that their bowing was itself a kind of dance."Now, child," said Aslan, when they had left the trees behind them, "I will wait here. Go and wake the others and tell them to follow. If they will not, then you at least must follow me alone."Excerpt from episode:"...Today's episode will have a different sort of feel, because today is very much about a personal encounter. It's often been said that the character of Aslan – that great kingly lion - is one of the best portrayals of Jesus Christ in any work of fiction. Those of you who are familiar with the books will probably agree that every scene with Aslan is profound and moving, and depicts what a real encounter with Jesus of Nazereth would actually have been like. Over and against more popular portrayals of Jesus today as just a nice guy or moral teacher, Aslan – like the real Jesus of Nazareth- just cannot be categorised in any box. He is at once compassionate and ferocious, friendly, and yet kingly. When Susan Pevensie asks Mr Beaver whether Aslan was safe, Mr beaver replies "Safe? Who said anything about safe? 'Course he isn't safe. But he's good. He's the King, I tell you.” So it goes for the real Jesus Christ, and it is for this reason that Aslan gives us plenty of material to explore a very forgotten idea in Christianity today: the fear of the Lord. ‘Fear of the Lord? – what does that even mean...?"

During the early centuries of the church, the leaders were engaged in serious debates about the Person of Christ. They needed to understand Jesus of Nazereth. It was a complex development under the patient work of the Holy Spirit. In this episode, we discuss the first few church councils with Dr. Eldy Eldhose. In these watershed events, false teachers were refuted and the church affirmed in clear terms that our Lord Jesus Christ is "truly God and truly man." About our guest: Dr. Eldy Eldhose is a theology professor and the Director of PhD Studies at Evangelical Theological Seminary in India. This week Pastor Brad takes a look at Jesus and his trial with Pilate.  We see how the political and social issues at the time lead to Jesus just not being worth Pilate's time.  And we explore how choosing Jesus of Nazereth always takes a choice, but God makes some amazing promises when we do! Whatever you do. You must be under the anointings. Anointings has power. Whether you sing in the choir. Sing under the anointings. Whether you preach. Preach under the anointings. Whether you pray. Pray under the anointings. Anointings has power. Anointings is being consecrated. It is being sacred. Be under the sacredness of the Holy Spirit.- Luke 4:18 the Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised. Amen. Anointings has power to heal, to deliver, to rebuke, to cast out, to put God in and not put God out. Don't you want God? Pray for your holy consecration. Right now. Amen. Anointings is healing.- John 9:11 he answered and said, A man that is called Jesus made clay, and anointed mine eyes, and said unto me, Go to the pool of Siloam, and wash: and I went and washed, and I received sight. Amen.- Receive your deliverance. Anointings is power. Yeah!- I John 2:27 but the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him. Amen.- Pray for anointings, consecration and sacredness. You must have God's anointing.- Acts 10:38 how God anointed Jesus of Nazereth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him. Amen.- In the bible the purpose of the anointing is to sanctify and to make holy.- We receive our anointings if we are chosen by God, have faith in Jesus, share the gospel, pray for it, pray for your anointings and ask God to baptize you with the Holy Spirit.- Church we need anointings. Pray for anointings.- Isaiah 61:3 the Spirit of the Lord God is upon me; because the Lord hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound. Amen.- Anointing is a gift. It is a gift from God. Pray for your anointings.- Acts 2:38 then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. Amen.- Without the work of the Holy Spirit, we are nothing. We don't want to feel deadness in prayer or be tongue-twisted or tongue-tied up and not knowing what to say. You are weak. This is the same thing for preaching and singing. It's praying, preaching and singing in the flesh and not in the Spirit.- But. If you pray, sing and preach in the Spirit. Then you are praying, singing and preaching in power and not deadness. That is why we need to pray for the anointings of the Holy Ghost to come in us. That's our power. Amen.- I hoped you received a blessing. Anointings is power.- Jesus prayed, preached, rebuked and did wondrous works under the anointings of the Holy Ghost.- In Matthew 14 -Jesus multiplied the loaves and the fish and he rebuked the sea and with the power of faith, his anointings of the Holy Ghost, he calmed the sea and walked on the sea. He helped Peter's faith.- Pray for the anointings. Amen.

Often- its offensive because its true- One time I walked into my grandmas house and she said I was portly. I was offended, but it was true. What do we celebrate on Easter 1 cor 15:3-8 READChrist rising from the Dead is not just why we celebrate Easter- its why we celebrate every Sunday and every other day of the yearIF this isn't true. Its all a waste. We are still in our sin. We're stupid and we're wasting our lives1 Cor 15:12-19I'm not going to argue with you whether or not the resurrection of Jesus is true or not today. I know its true. Volumes of books have been written proving this fact. Its futile to argue. Its true. It demands a response.  You've responded. You're here today. You are living for Jesus, or you are not. Make a decision to  Either to Live for Jesus or reject his claims that he was God, but you need to respondThe dividing line between living for Christ isn't the truthfulness of the claim, but the Cross of ChristWhy? Because the Cross is an offense. Most people have an opinion about the Cross. 1 Corinthians 1:23 but we preach Christ crucified, to the Jews a stumbling block and to the Greeks foolishness,If you don't believe in the cross of Christ you think that those who do are fools and it's an offense to you that they do- What is the cross? The cross is the short description of Jesus Christ of Nazereth being crucified on a wooden structure in the shape of T- a cross- usually a 100lb beam on their backIn ancient Rome- Crucifixion was the most publicly excruciating (ex-cruciating- crucified) humiliating way that a person could dieThe goal was simple- make a public display of the person so bloody and humiliating that it would punish the wrongdoer and at the same time discourage anyone from committing the same crimeThey would strip them naked in the public square, beat them to the edge of death, nail them to the cross by their hands and feet. Often times they would put a small shelf at the feet or legs to help support the body weight to extend the pain. Legs would be broken and they would try to stay alive by holding themselves up and usually eventually bleed out or asphyxiate.  If that didn't happen Crucifiers would accelerate the process by stabbing them in the side or genitals and leave them on the cross to die eventually from dehydration or animal attacksHere's the kick tho- Jesus hadnt done anything deserving of the death he died. He was sinlessJohn 19:4 Pilate then went out again, and said to them, “Behold, I am bringing Him out to you, that you may know that I find no fault in Him.”Why is this Cross is an offense? Why is it that people get so upset about our Jesus? It says that we are filled with sinThe bloody horrible public death that Jesus died was because of the sin of you and IWe hadn't yet even been born, but the penalty of our sin was what sent Jesus to the CrossThis is an offense! If I took someone out in the parking lot and crucified them for your wrong doing, you would  have some sort of an emotional response- or at least I hope you wouldAnd none of that would have happened if we had lived perfect lives- but we haven'tLying, stealing, cheating, lusting, greed, envy, worship of false idols, disobedience, all of itThe Story of Easter is that we were born sinners and needed our sin forgiven before GodRomans 5:8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.God loves you when you are sinner. He loved you when you were a sinner. He loves you now. Welcome to the program. Hey, jamie. Thanks for having me. I really we were almost classmate applied to Nazareth college. We were talking just before we hit the record button. I went to undergrad in western New York, and you went to Nazareth, which anybody knows in Rochester. And I got accepted to Nazereth, and it was all set to go there. And I was psyched there's nothing against neither death loved it. I just wanted to be a little bit closer to family and friends. So I took a different route. But we were almost classmates you graduated Nazar in what seventeen can be useful in seventeen. So we were this close from Ardy known each other, drew. Mall world small missing good opportunity. But and I know Fiji. Well, yeah. All right. So let's go into your store. We had a couple of our listeners reach out and say, hey, check, this guy out they wanted to find out some more about us. So they they kind of gave me a little bit of your back story did your bachelor of science Nazereth and Rochester, along with your DP, but outside of being a physical therapist, drew. You do something a little bit uncommon, and your professional athlete talk about that a little bit. Let the audience know. Yeah. So I'm playing across and it was in fifth grade played played other sports wrestled played hockey and the whole life, and I was in high school getting ready to be recruited and doing that whole Email coaches, try to go into college and end up going to address which, you know, found out at a p t program, and that's kinda how I got involved through that room, and as I was going through school. I just kept play in my artists. And then eventually, you know, one of my teammates at the time goes once you sign up for a draft. And I never. Thought that some d three small school d three guy would you know, make it and the L and then eventually I got picked up in like a waiver wire sort of situation and a couple games into my first season. I ended up getting a start and and their amps I've been playing ever since being a little modest mean you're in the all star game as well. Yeah. Yeah. That was two years ago. That's not too shabby from going from waiver wire pickup to to get the start to, you know, make it an all star game is pretty cool. So talking about I mean familiar with the cross, but not so much major league across how does it work in terms of like, you said you went from a smaller program like Nazar? How does someone make it there is it just a tryout is scouting a little bit of both? Yeah. Livable's every team. You know? I mean, they a, you know in the realm of professional sports, major league lacrosse, and even the cross in general is a little bit of smaller niche...
