Cam Bomberry - Season 2Cam began playing lacrosse when he was just three years old. He worked his way through the Six Nation’s minor league box lacrosse program and began playing for St. Catherine’s Junior A team when he was 15. He finished his junior career with the Six Nations Arrows and won the Minto Cup in 1992 and was captain of the first Indigenous based franchise to win a Minto Cup and won the Jim McConaghy MVP Trophy. The three-time All-American played NCAA lacrosse with Nazareth College from 1990 to 1994 in Rochester, New York, where he helped his team claim an NCAA championship title in 1992.On top of his minor league and college achievements, Cam was able to play professionally for eight seasons in the NLL with the Buffalo Bandits, the Rochester Knighthawks, and the New Jersey Storm. On the Ontario Lacrosse Association (OLA) circuit, he participated in three Mann Cup titles with the Six Nations Chiefs. His experience also stretches onto a number of national teams. He played for the U19 Canadian Men’s Field Lacrosse Team in 1988, and was a four-time member of Iroquois Nationals team. Cam finished his playing career in the summer of 2006 at the World Championship in London with Team Iroquois, and continues his involvement with the sport through lectures and clinics.
San Diego Seals President Steve Govett hosts the 12th episode of the TFL Podcast, joined by two former MILL/NLL players and Rochester Knighthawks teammates, Randy Mearns and Regy Thorpe. This week on the #OTCBPodcast we continue our 20 in 20 series with the man who scored 'The Goal' 20 years ago this summer, Kaleb Toth. 'We all squeezed the stick and we all pulled the trigger'- sure, a Tragically Hip line from a song about the Toronto Maple Leafs but it's a very apropos line to use when describing the shot from Toth, to lift the Toronto Rock past the Rochester Knighthawks in the 2000 NLL Cup finals. That was the start of his pro lacrosse career that may have never gotten off the ground had his ECHL coach allowed him to move up to the IHL; hockey's loss was most definitely lacrosse's gain. Since that goal, 9er went on to become of the most elite players in NLL history, winning a pair of titles for his hometown Calgary Roughnecks and two Mann Cups with the Victoria Shamrocks to go along with his MInto Cups as a member of the Burnaby Jr Lakers. He has some amazing stories to tell and we get to a bunch of them, this week on the OTCBPodcast.
Bill, Erik, and Nick chat about the 2009 Buffalo Bandits as they took on the Rochester Knighthawks in the run to the playoffs.
KB & Dom are BACK and kick the show off with an absolutely WILD NLL trade between the Buffalo Bandits & Rochester Knighthawks. Then they get into the matchups and breakdown what they see in each game of NLL action this weekend. Dom gives his takes from the Rush/Wings game and why the Rush are now gaining his respect. Then they get into their picks of the week that involve QUITE a musical medley of analogies, and the guys ring the bell often. Then they wrap things up with the PLL TicketMaster deal and the frustration they have with the league's schedule announcing... or lack thereof... Follow Us! This week on Lacrosse Classified, we dig deep into an eight-game Week 8 that was full of surprises, and where our #WhoYaGott winner from 100 entries had just a 6-2 record. Holden Cattoni and Dan Lomas join us on the show. From a massive upset in Long Island as the New York Riptide took down the Georgia Swarm, to the Rochester Knighthawks having a very different pair of results, to the Colorado Mammoth only scoring five times against the Vancouver Warriors and then lighting up the Saskatchewan Rush the next night. Because both expansion teams got their first win in franchise history, that's where we are focusing our attention this week.First up is Holden Cattoni of the Rochester Knighthawks. Holden, a former Johns Hopkins star, was one of the first players to come out of Alberta's Elev8 program into the NCAA. Having played the 2018 season with the Calgary Roughnecks, Holden was then traded to Georgia in 2019 only to be surprisingly left unprotected in the expansion draft and was picked up with the 3rd overall pick by Rochester. We talk about the expansion draft and life with the Knighthawks, the growth of the team's offense and life outside of lacrosse living in the Washington D.C. area.Next up is Dan Lomas of the New York Riptide. Much like Cattoni, Dan is now with his third team in three years, after being let go by the former Rochester Knighthawks and Vancouver Warriors, he has persevered and found a new home with the Riptide. We talk about life with the Riptide, the leadership of Dan MacRae and Dan's growth as a lacrosse player from High Point to the NLL.We then put gambling in lacrosse in our G. Wilson Construction Under Review segment and play another round of Stampede Tack's #WhoYaGott where Evan maintains a one-game lead over Jake as both went 4-4 last week. Of the five games this week, neither one is confident in four of the picks. As well in News and Notes, the excitement both Evan and Jake have for the Riptide's signing of Myles Jones. As always a big thank you to our sponsors, Associated Labels and Packaging, Stampede Tack, G. Wilson Construction, Pure Vita Labs and the Vancouver Warriors. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
