This week, I have the privilege of chatting with Ellie Warner, a hairdresser from Leeds, about her breastfeeding journey with her son, Ezra.Ellie initially knew little about breastfeeding but had an instinctual desire to do it. Ellie faced challenges, including gestational diabetes, a tongue-tie and torticollis, which eventually contributed to a breast abscess developing within weeks of Ezra's birth. But Ellie was not to be deterred! At the same time she became a peer supporter and is passionate about providing support for working-class mothers. My new book, ‘Supporting the Transition from Breastfeeding: a Guide to Weaning for Professionals, Supporters and Parents', is out now.You can get 10% off the book at the Jessica Kingsley press website, that's uk.jkp.com using the code MMPE10 at checkout.Look on instagram for @tortibreastfeeding for Nicola Walker's discussion on torticollis and breastfeeding. Nathalie is a new rising star of TV drama, and is set to follow in the footsteps of the likes of Nicola Walker, Suranne Jones and Vicky McClure. She portrays Leila Hassoun-Kenny, a rigorous CPS lawyer leading the case against the accused. She stars alongside Adeel Akhtar (Sherwood), Joe Dempise (Game of Thrones) and Michael Socha (The Gallows Pole). The story will once again centre around a hotly contested criminal trial that divides the nation and takes place in the full glare of the media spotlight. Made by World Productions (Vigil, Line of Duty, Save Me) for the BBC and written by Ben Richards, the fictional five-part drama will focus on the high-profile case of ‘Officer X' - a policeman accused of murdering a climate change activist. Nathalie Armin, a Central School of Speech and Drama-trained actor, has made her mark across stage, film, and television. Currently gracing the Almeida stage in ALMA MATTER, she previously starred alongside James Norton in the award-winning A LITTLE LIFE in London's West End. Her theatrical repertoire includes powerful performances in FORCE MAJEURE (Donmar Warehouse), BEHIND THE BEAUTIFUL FOREVERS (National Theatre), and OTHELLO (RSC). She has also impressed audiences in THE DOCTOR (Almeida), ANNA (National Theatre), and RALEGH: THE TREASON TRIAL (Sam Wanamaker Playhouse: Shakespeare's Globe). On the small screen, Nathalie has left her mark with BBC Three comedy JUICE, and alongside Lesley Manville in MAGPIE MURDERS. Other projects include popular ITV drama's TOO CLOSE, MARCELLA, VERA and UNFORGOTTEN. Additionally, she graced the silver screen in films such as action-thriller ANNA, THE BATMAN, FINAL SCORE.

Today we're talking about a condition that is surprisingly common in babies, but little known - torticollis.Alessia Testa had already suffered mastitis following a painful latch on one side by the time her son was six weeks old, but it was her insistence that her son had a head tilt that led to him being diagnosed and treated. With the help of physiotherapy and some simple changes at home, Luca's neck muscles have stretched and strengthened, and he now feeds well as an 18 month old. We're also joined by Nicola Walker, an infant feeding specialist, and senior physiotherapist, to help answer the science questions, and explain how you can get help if you have noticed head tilt or facial asymmetry in your child. We discuss the breastfeeding implications of torticollis, sternocleidomastoid tumour, and plagiocephaly - some big words that can feel intimidating, but support is out there. My new book, ‘Supporting the Transition from Breastfeeding: a Guide to Weaning for Professionals, Supporters and Parents', is out now.You can get 10% off the book at the Jessica Kingsley press website, that's uk.jkp.com using the code MMPE10 at checkout.Follow me on Twitter @MakesMilk and on Instagram @emmapickettibclc or find out more on my website www.emmapickettbreastfeedingsupport.comResources mentioned - @babybegin on Instagram@kinactive_kids on Instagram https://www.cwgenna.com/This podcast is presented by Emma Pickett IBCLC, and produced by Emily Crosby Media.

Both journalist Charlotte Higgins and playwright David Greig are fascinated by the Roman occupation of Britain. Higgins's book Under Another Sky: Journeys in Roman Britain, an account of her travels to the Roman remains scattered about Britain, is really about how we today relate to Roman Britain. It seems an unlikely subject for a play but Greig has adapted it for the stage and they both talk to Samira Ahmed about the project. Did the Romans bring civilisation to these islands? Were they violent imperialists? Did British history really begin once they had left? And what of the society that was here already when the Romans arrived? Front Row celebrates the life of author and illustrator Raymond Briggs who has died aged 88. He became famous for his books The Snowman, Father Christmas, Fungus The Bogeyman and his parable of nuclear war When The Wind Blows – all of which were also made into films or TV programmes. American documentary maker Immy Humes has spent the last five years mining the archives for photographs of lone women in majority male environments, from 1862 to the present day, for her book The Only Woman. And British art historian Aindrea Emelife has also been mining the archives, searching for images of black women from 1793 to the present, for her exhibition Black Venus at the Fotografiska Gallery in New York. They join Samira to discuss issues of representation, tokenism and the female gaze in visual culture, past and present. BAFTA-winning writer and director Stefan Golaszewski talks to Samira about his upcoming BBC One Drama, Marriage, starring Sean Bean and Nicola Walker as a couple navigating the ups and downs of a 30-year relationship. For much of its history, the United States kept the rest of the world at arm's length. What happened in the decades after the 1941 military strike on Pearl Harbor, and several years after the 9/11 attacks, could be seen as an aberration. The sudden, chaotic withdrawal from Afghanistan, the Taliban takeover, and resulting humanitarian disaster may lead to another American foreign policy shift, plus a far greater reluctance to deploy U.S. forces overseas. While isolationism is derided by policy experts and global elites, this movement has a surprisingly enduring legacy. We examine it here.Charles Kupchan is a professor of international relations at Georgetown University and a Senior Fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations. "Isolationism: A History of America's Efforts to Shield Itself from the World" is his most recent book. We share extracts from an interview with Charles by Justin Kempf, host of the Democracy Group podcast, "Democracy Paradox"."Beginning in the 1990s, and then really picking up after 9/11, the United States overreached ideologically by thinking it could turn Iraq and Afghanistan into Ohio, says Charles. "Suddenly, I think, Americans said to themselves and to their leaders, ‘Wait a minute. Too much world, not enough America.'"Also in this episode: Jim and Richard share their views on the Afghan collapse and offer several solutions for American foreign policy.Recommendation: Jim is watching "Unforgotten", a widely-praised British crime drama television series, starring Nicola Walker and Sanjeev Baskkar. It's quite the week for getaways as The White Lotus opens its opulent Hawaiian resort on Sky Atlantic and Nicole Kidman's wellness retreat receives visitors in Nine Perfect Strangers on Amazon. Of course, Nicola Walker pulling bodies out of a river in Annika doesn't *quite* fit the theme, but her boss has an office that puts most five star hotels to shame so we'll let it slide.

A film script written with the young Hugh Grant (yes, that one), a TV show about The Sex Pistols and a romcom based on his real-life relationship - just 3 of the top notch offcuts from the writer/producer of the multi award-winning TV drama Unforgotten. Clips performed by: Toby Longworth, Lizzie Roper, Christopher Kent, Leah Marks, Nigel Pilkington, Emma Clarke and Rachel Atkins. Warning: This episode contains strong language. Chris Lang has created over 100 hours of original prime-time television drama since he cut his teeth on established favourites like Soldier Soldier, Casualty and The Knock more than twenty five years ago. Most recently his projects have included Dark Heart – a 6 part series for ITV, The Hook-Up Plan (known as Plan Coeur in France) – a French 8-part romantic comedy for Netflix and Innocent – a 4 part drama whose 2nd series will start filming later this year. Other acclaimed dramas he's been responsible for include: Amnesia (2004), Torn (2007), A Mother's Son (2012) and Undeniable (2014) which was remade in France in as Quand Je Serai Grande Je Te Tuerai which was broadcast in France in late 2017 to an audience of seven million, But it is for his multi-award winning detective drama Unforgotten, starring Nicola Walker and Sanjeev Bhaskar, that he is probably best known and after three highly acclaimed series its fourth will hopefully be returning to our screens soon.
