O carioca Alan Nigri é um dos principais jogadores da seleção israelense de Rugby em cadeira de rodas e um dos responsáveis pelo crescimento do esporte no país. Luciana Quaresma, correspondente da RFI em PortugalA família Nigri decidiu deixar o Rio de Janeiro para morar em Israel no início dos anos 2000. "Nós viemos morar em Israel porque somos judeus, o Rio de Janeiro estava muito violento, a economia não estava bem e meus pais decidiram se mudar para dar um futuro melhor para as crianças”, lembra o carioca. Em Israel, Alan sofreu um acidente de carro que mudaria a sua vida o levando a conhecer o rugby em cadeira de rodas. “Sou cadeirante há 13 anos. Um ano depois do acidente, eu comecei a conhecer muitos outros cadeirantes que me apresentaram o rugby. Eu estou na seleção de Israel há 12 anos e desde então eu jogo, treino duas três vezes por semana e sou apaixonado pelo esporte”, relata.Segundo Alan, essa paixão pelo rugby em cadeira de rodas transformou a sua vida. Foi a oportunidade de conhecer outras pessoas que o ajudaram a superar e aceitar a sua nova condição.“No início, conheci muita gente com deficiências que eram parecidas com a minha, então sempre tive a quem perguntar, ter respostas sobre a deficiência que para mim era uma novidade e alguns tinham mais experiência, e acabamos virando uma família", relata. Alan faz parte da seleção de Israel desde a fundação do time e tem muito orgulho de representar o país que o acolheu há 23 anos.“Jogar pela seleção é um pouquinho do que posso fazer para devolver todo esse acolhimento. Eu tento sempre estar na melhor condição para ajudar o grupo, dando também apoio moral, apoio dentro de campo, isso é muito importante", destaca. O rugby em cadeira de rodas virou um objetivo de vida. Muitos atletas são empresários e não se dedicam exclusivamente ao esporte, mas se dedicam a uma rotina de três vezes de treinamento por semana para estarem no melhor nível. Recentemente, Alan representou Israel no campeonato europeu de rugby em cadeira de rodas, em Cardiff, no País de Gales, um dos eventos mais importantes do calendário da modalidade. O time israelense acabou em sétimo lugar, mas foi uma grande conquista para a equipe que, pela primeira vez na história, jogou na primeira divisão de uma competição europeia e teve a oportunidade de enfrentar as potências do continente como Inglaterra e França. "Foi sensacional. Conhecemos muita gente e continuamos desenvolvendo e aprendendo mais sobre o esporte, evoluindo sempre. Ter participado desta competição europeia foi um sonho realizado, uma experiência ótima”, resume o atleta que esperar voltar a participar de outros torneios internacionais este ano e em 2024.Importância do esporte Alain Nigri tem uma relação com atividades esportivas desde criança, quando praticou natação, vôlei e futebol. Ele afirma que depois do acidente automobilístico que o deixou de cadeira de rodas, a possibilidade de voltar a praticar esportes foi fundamental para sua adaptação.  “Eu acho que para qualquer pessoa, deficiente ou não, o esporte e é uma coisa sensacional que pode te ajudar a encontrar uma razão de viver. Se você estiver passando por uma fase difícil, ruim, o esporte pode te ajudar a encontrar forças, concentração. Eu tenho toda a certeza que o esporte na minha vida foi um dos fatores mais importantes para me tirar de casa e me ajudar a continuar tendo uma vida normal", afirmou. "Tudo começou com o esporte, conhecendo as pessoas certas. Eu sou muito grato por tudo o que esporte representa na minha vida e sou apaixonado pelo rugby em cadeira de rodas”, conclui.

Today on the show I'm honored to have Leehee Nigri on the show to share with you the role a therapist plays in eating disorder recovery, how Leehe helps her clients identify diet culture in their lives and how a dietitian and therapist can complement each other in helping their clients thrive.   Leehe is a licensed mental health counselor, located in Boca Raton, FL. She works with adults with a broad spectrum of diagnoses and struggles. Leehe specializes in DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy) for depression, anxiety, borderline personality disorder, and bipolar disorder; EMDR trauma therapy for PTSD and other trauma-related struggles; and Intuitive Eating for eating disorders, disordered eating, and body image issues. She works with individuals, couples, and families, and provides services in English and Hebrew.    Leehe's main objective is to guide her clients in cultivating self-empowerment, wisdom, and liberation. She carefully attends to each client by implementing interventions that are uniquely targeted for his, her, or their background and goals. Leehe guides her clients in becoming their own therapists, as they learn how to master effective coping strategies and life-changing insight on their own.   On this episode of the Holy Nerdy Podcast, we discuss a pretty big win on our part. By sheer accident we were able to nab an exclusive interview with a pair of guys who are currently producing a "tell all" documentary about the Ren and Stimpy show called "Happy Happy Joy Joy: The Ren And Stimpy Story. This documentary shares interviews with the artists, creators, and people of the fandom and wraps it all up in a delicious burrito-like package. We will have them on the show on 8/26/17, so get ready. It's going to be really fun. Interestingly enough, we also have a Ren and Stimpy announcement to make. Caleb and I will be producing a series of "bonus episodes" for the show. This bonus content will include audio commentary for some of your favorite 90's cartoons. The first in this series will be commentary on the little known Ren and Stimpy Adult Party Cartoon. This series of episodes were heavily criticized for being overtly disgusting and adult themed. It was canceled by Spike TV early before all the episodes were aired and we are going to cover them all. In addition to the commentary for each episode, we will be giving an in depth break down of each episode as well as words from the show's creator John K. before each episode describing why these are the way they are.  The first bonus episode in this series will be released for free, the second episode will be released after we get 10 reviews on ITunes. The third after we hit 20, the fourth after we get 30 and so on and so on. We really encourage fans of the show to go to ITunes and write a review for our show (good or bad) as we feel these bonus episodes will be a really special look back at these crazy Ren and Stimpy episodes. These bonus episodes are definitely made by fans for fans. After the break things get a little crazy as Caleb asks me why I don't like Instagram model Jessica Nigri anymore. It has nothing to do with her personality or her looks (believe me it has absolutley nothing to do with her looks!) It all boils down to two simple words.........DERP FACE. That's right, I cannot stand her constant need to ruin her sexy photos and videos by making a Derp face at the end. It totally takes me out of the "moment". LOL. I then can't believe my ears when Caleb retorts with the fact that he loves the derp face and wants more!!. Come listen as we debate (and laugh) the Derp face and why or why not it has a place in this setting? This brings us to our final topic of the episode, internet fame and the lengths people will go to to achieve it. We go over a few recent stories of people who have set out to become "internet famous" only to achieve it, but for the wrong reasons. Next week I will be at an anime convention and will not be present on next weeks show. Caleb on the other hand will be going at it solo and will be giving an indepth overview of the Stephen King horror classic "IT". From the book, to the original movie, to the soon to be released remake. Come join this Horror Super Fan as he breaks down each one and discusses what it did for the genre and what it meant to him. He's doing some real homework for this one folks.
