The UK government is providing a range of economic, humanitarian, and defensive military assistance to Ukraine – often leading the way with supply of new capabilities and categories of munition, to encourage allies to scale up their commitments. Britain seems to be less intimidated by Russia's so-called ‘red lines', which time have proved to be illusory – just the bluff and bluster of a bully. Overall, the European Union has provided the most to Ukraine in terms of military, financial and humanitarian aid combined, but the UK is the second largest donor of military assistance to Ukraine. ---------- Eduard Fesko is Chargé d'affaires a.i. at the Embassy of Ukraine in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Norther Ireland. Lake Sihwa in South Korea is home to the world's largest operating tidal power station, using the tides to generate enough power for a city of half a million people. This regular rise and fall of the seas is more predictable than sunny or windy weather and can be forecast years in advance. Nine thousand miles away in Northern Ireland is Strangford Lough. A narrow inlet leading to the mighty Atlantic Ocean means it's one of the world's best sites for harnessing tidal energy. The fast and strong currents have led to the world's first commercial-scale tidal energy power station being built here. But now that's being decommissioned. The technology for harnessing tidal energy has been around for more than half a century and the potential to create energy from the sea is huge. Yet tidal power only accounts for a tiny proportion of the global renewable energy mix. Presenter Graihagh Jackson finds out what's holding tidal power back. Maggie O’Farrell has written eight novels, a memoir and a children’s book. In 2020 her novel Hamnet won the Women’s Prize for Fiction, and was also named Waterstones Book of the Year. Maggie was born in Norther Ireland. Her parents moved around during her childhood, and she grew up in Wales and Scotland. As a young girl, she was very ill and almost died from encephalitis. She says her lifelong love of reading comes from her long stay in hospital followed by an extended convalescence, when she missed a year of school. Her illness also left her with a stammer, which she believes has profoundly affected her relationship with language. She studied English at Cambridge University, and then looked for work as a journalist, writing poetry in her spare time. When she chanced upon a discarded computer, she decided to write a novel. She attended a creative writing course, where her tutors encouraged her to get her first manuscript published. It's up to you how you want to do it! But Gavan is feeling grateful for all of you so he answers questions about the podcast, the Speed Mentor and himself. For those of you who have their ears glued to their headphones (or maybe the opposite) because of his singing, watch out for his stories and answers. The Speed Mentor is a developing legacy not just for Gavan but the Norther Ireland. It is not going anywhere just yet so continue supporting! KEY TAKEAWAYS Here are some questions that were asked: Are the Speed Mentor and Gavan Wall the same person? Yes Does Gavan Wall swear as much as the Speed Mentor? No Is the Speed Mentor supposed to be funny? No Is your singing really that bad? Yes What is Project X? it's a collaboration project of Gavan and Andrew Cuthbert that will support start-ups in Northern Ireland. BEST MOMENTS “When you make a decision to be a producer in life rather than merely a consumer, your subconscious mind delivers all the good stuff.” “I like ‘mission impossible' not just tom cruise, so let's give it a go!” “Do it your way. Don't let other people tell you otherwise.” ABOUT THE HOST Welcome to the Speed Mentor Podcast. Do you want success and abundance in your life?! Do you want to hear how to achieve it? Then you've come to the right place where the world's only Speed Mentor, Gavan Wall will mainline you with micro bite-sized chunks of inspiration fused with knowledge, built into a daily routine to help you deliver success. After walking away, a decade ago from his gilded life as a leading Barrister and property investor, Gavan Wall started his entrepreneurial career in inauspicious circumstances as he lost everything in the property crash. But he refused to give up, re-building a financial fortress from scratch, until now he leads multiple successful multi-million £ companies across FMCG, Franchise, Tech, Property and Mentoring. He's the Speed Mentor and serial entrepreneur, who shares with you all the breadcrumbs of success and just as importantly the failures. If you listen, you can avoid the potholes and learn to conquer your fear and live a life of success and abundance just like him. But be warned, his message can be stark and will not be for those seeking shortcuts. If you're wanting to be told that the law of attraction will deliver success wrapped in a bow to your front door, then this Podcast isn't for you, as that's never going to happen! It's time to own your own sh#t, never blame others and take the massive action to create the attraction. The opportunities and white space are everywhere.
