Could you be unstoppable? Could there be a secret waiting to be discovered? Following on from the 5-year birthday celebrations and having reached out to several past guests. The idea or impulse to reconnect with some of my past friends led to great discussions, and Patrick Powers was one of those people. In our catch-up chat, he said he had discovered what it took and was writing a book about becoming unstoppable. I first met Patrick in 2020, the year of Covid lockdowns in the UK, and they had decimated his face-to-face business networking group in London. But Patrick is no stranger to facing difficulties in his business and life; in the 00's, he was a star in a network marketing business at some point, and he had a team of 10,000 people. He lost everything while living in the Dominican Republic; he ended up in London as a broke taxi driver. Back in 2020, he built the second-largest business in the world. How do you become unstoppable? Over the last few years, I saw Patrick's life as a highlight reel on Facebook. At some point, he got married and went to live in Russia, and then there was the drama of leaving the country. Followed by the drama of returning to the country. It is a brilliant story worthy of any novel, and it happens to be true. Some years back, Patrick changed his last name to Power, because he was a powerhouse of passion and inspiration and he still is that and more. Reconnecting with past guests in the birthday show was just like connecting with old friends, and it has opened new possibilities for some interesting conversations. One of those was with Patrick Powers; he was on the show last in the middle of the Covid Lockdowns in the Uk. A lot has changed for him since my last conversation, and as we are currently looking for a date to meet up, I thought it would be a good opportunity to upload our last conversation. So far, his books “Turn Your Contacts into Cash” and “How to Conquer Fear of Public Speaking” have reached the status of highly acclaimed and his new book, The New Marketing Manifesto, is anxiously awaited by tens of thousands of people in the UK, US, Canada, the Caribbean, Germany, and Denmark. Go to patrickmpowers.com and start building up your marketing; join them and just get bigger, better, more persuasive, and faster.Scott: Check out grapevine. Team, this is for team meetings. Basically, you can divide into teams, departments or companies, and get regular updates from your teams especially with your virtual teams, and have connections.Patrick: My tip of the week is how to use transformational questions instead of transactional questions when you talk to people. Most people when they go out and network, they will be asking something like, "How was your week or weekend?" or "How are you doing?", the problem with that kind of questions is that you'll get a surface answer because you can answer that on auto-pilot. You'll get an answer that is not really deep and what you need to do is bring them out of the auto-pilot people's on. So instead, you can ask them "What was the best part of your weekend or week?", ask a question that gets people to think deeper and build a bond where there's a real connection, real humanity shared.Isn't it time to create passive income so you can work where you want, when you want, and with whomever you want?

Have you ever asked yourself the question: “Who are the ten most valuable people in your network right now?” Today may be the time to explore the answer, as Gavin talks to Patrick Powers, the founder of the Entrepreneurs In London network, and the author of the book ’The New Marketing Manifesto’, about what you should be doing for the people in your network to add the most value, and why now is the time to do it! KEY TAKEAWAYS Too many businesses think that marketing is simply about grabbing someone’s attention. Just because people know about you, doesn’t mean that they will buy from you. Networking online requires us to be more proactive. We must shy away from being reactive. Finding a middle ground, and become valuable by being “aggressively friendly” Comfort and acceptance come from perseverance, and forcing ourselves to push through the mental barriers holding us back. Grabbing someone’s attention is much easier if you’re doing something unique and different. By standing out, you become instantly fascinating, and more importantly, memorable! BEST MOMENTS ‘Influence is all about understanding words and energy’ ‘You have to work out to influence one person and make a sale’ ‘Anything new is uncomfortable’ ‘I won’t connect people with each other unless I trust them’ VALUABLE RESOURCES The Business Mastermind Podcast Patrick Powers - https://patrickmpowers.com Patrick Powers LinkedIn - https://www.linkedin.com/in/patrickmpowers/?originalSubdomain=uk Founder Nation On Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/groups/FounderNation/ Entrepreneurs In London On Meetup - https://www.meetup.com/entrepreneursinlondon/ Get your three free chapters of Patrick’s incredible new book by going to https://patrickmpowers.com/marketing-manifesto-sample/ ABOUT THE HOST Gavin Preston Gavin is an inspirational Speaker, Business Strategist, Business Growth Mentor, Trainer and high-performance Coach. Todays guest joining us on the Steve Jobs inspired Join Up Dots podcast interview is a man who has a story like so many entrepreneurs I have spoke to. He started his life with limited idea of what he wanted to become, and even less of an idea of how to start something…in fact anything. As he says ” I was born in Denmark it all started out pretty bad. I was very shy and introverted and had no idea what I wanted in life, except I didn't want to be employed. So with no real business education I started my first business at 21. Since I had no marketing know how, it only took me a year to run my business deep into the ground and go bankrupt.” But there comes a time when you realise that after years of study at school, that most of us want to leave far behind, you need to get serious and study like your life depends on it. You need to become an expert in something that can open doors across the world. Our guest realised that its ok to have an amazing business idea or product, but unless people find out about it, you are dead in the water. And so with a total obsession he set to work understanding the skills required to become a top marketer. And so successful was he at learning these skills, that he built a worldwide business and retired whilst still a young man. And like all the greatest sportsman who find out that retirement isn't all its cracked up to be, he returned to teach entrepreneurship and marketing and set out to create one of London's biggest entrepreneurial communities with almost 17,000 ACTIVE members. All from just £3,500 in total marketing costs. As he says “Before you think I'm one of those people that think they can walk on water 24/7, I'm definitely not. In fact I've made some big mistakes that I'm quite embarrassed about. But I'm not afraid to admit it and talk about my boo-boo's especially because I know it can save someone else from the same ill fate.” So why did he always know that he didn't want to employed even as a small child? And what were the really big mistakes and how did he mentally recover to keep moving forward? Well lets find out as we bring onto the show to start joining up dots with the one and only Patrick Powers Show Highlights During the show we discussed such weighty subjects with Patrick Powers such as: Why he decided to change his name, lose his Danish accent, and overcome his shyness as a young man before he did anything towards creating his first business success. Why the online world needs to compliment the offline world to gain the true success. One needs the other to become fully realised which so many people fail to realise. Todays guest entrepreneur joining us on the Steve Jobs inspired Join Up Dots podcast interview is a networking expert, who spends his time networking with millionaires...and their advisors, who has a story like so many entrepreneurs I have spoke to. Well lets find out as we bring onto the show to start joining up dots with the one and only Patrick Powers
Hi, welcome to the online marketing show, this is Joey Bushnell and welcome to the online marketing news. First off, retargeting platform Perfect Audience announced perfect audience connect this week. This is where you can team up with other marketers and cross promote to each other's visitors, not only can you retarget your own website visitors but now you can show ads to the visitors of your partners websites so now you reach new people not just the same ones over and over again. AOL have released a new native ads for mobile unit. It will be exclusively for mobile sites and apps and the ads will be shown on AOL owned properties, places you probably didn't know AOL even owned like techcrunch and the huffington post. If you're into media buying it could be worth testing out. LinkedIn is launching two new partner programs... Sponsored updates partners and content partners. The sponsored updates program is designed to help you reach a your target audience on LinkedIn better and the content partners program aims to help companies find good original content producers to create content for them. Twitter has rolled out a new web profile which is now available to everyone. It has a new best tweet section, a pinned tweet feature and a filtered tweet feature. Your tweets that attracted the most engagement will appear larger than normal. It also has space for a larger profile picture and cover photo. Twitter has also released a new ad unit called website cards. It shows an image, some text, a call to action and a when users click they will land on a page on your website. This is a good thing for us advertisers, it means more real estate to play with, we aren't limited to boring plain text, 140 characters tweets with this kind of ad. And for UK Twitter advertisers, Twitter have improved their Geo Targeting options adding 9 regions in the UK... North West England, Yorkshire and The Humber, East England, West Midlands, South East England, South West England, North East England and the East Midlands. And they have still kept all the old ones too... London, Birmingham, Glasgow, Leeds, Liverpool-Manchester. Pinterest have announced guided search will help mobile app users find what they are looking for faster by adding relevant sub categories to the search results. This is just another reason for us marketers to make sure our pins and boards are all tagged and formatted correctly or they won't be found. Google have added 3 new features for app advertisers. In-app install ads can now target users on the display network based on previous apps they have installed and their usage of those apps. YouTube trueview companion for apps allows advertisers to show a video with a clickable call to action to download their app directly underneath and app deep linking for both search and display networks allows users of an app to open the app up to most relevant page within the app and start using it, a little bit like retargeting for apps. A few weeks back Leadpages announced the launch of their Marketplace and they officially opened the doors this week with their first template available for sale – The affiliate mini site, where you can pitch affiliates to promote for you and give them their links, banners and swipes. Perhaps the biggest online marketing launch coming up in the near future is Donald Wilsons FB ads cracked reloaded, where he teaches how to get cheap clicks on facebook ads, his last launch was a massive success and no doubt this one will be big too.
