One of the great joys in life is finding a hobby which involves travel. To play tennis in Italy, go fly fishing in Argentina or play golf in South East England (as I am doing this week) is a wonderful prism in which to meet people and see the world. Over the past several years I've traveled with The Fliers Club to incredible places that I would have not likely experienced. The discovery of this group has been such an inspiration for me that I wanted to talk to Co-Founder Eric Stepanian about his perspective on travel and golf. Most importantly I wanted to talk about how they have built such an amazing community. Happiness in golf was easy to find, but it was harder to find people who share the same values around the game. Some might not realize just how nuanced golf can be or how it can open up space in your life for happiness via competition, camaraderie and travel. No one has taught me more about the possibilities in golf than Eric. We chat about travel, life, etiquette, merch, and celebrating the ancillary benefits of golf. Hope you enjoy our conversation. Later, came the desire to become an amazing singer so she started vocal training and took part in regular performances. Frida finds her 'over-emotional' ways the perfect tool for song writing and makes for interesting and thought provoking lyrics, but with humour and relatability. She is passionate about bringing real experiences into her song writing to tell her stories. Influenced by all corners of music, Frida finds herself constantly delving into the works of new and old artists alike - ranging from the soul sound of the 60's to contemporary pop of today then back a few years to (her guilty pleasure) 70's glam rock. #Music #Interviews #SocialMedia #Podcast

Suzanne Noble - The Life & Times of an American Woman in Britain Black Spy Podcast Season 15, Episode 0001 This week's Black Spy Podcast turns its attention to the interesting life and times of 63 year old American (now also British) female entrepreneur of many talents, Suzanne Nobel. In her terrific life story, Suzanne begins by detailing her family's journey from their home in New York to their arrival in the UK, where her father took up a lucrative executive banking post in the City of London. Interestingly, she notes that her first impressions of 1970's Britain were that it was somewhat old fashioned and backward. After all, this was the era when the United States appeared economically, culturally and above all, militarily unassailable. We later learn that Suzanne's go-getting temperament that didn't allow her to be side tracked was potentially fostered by her teenage schooling in various American military and civilian schools in the South East England. However, Carlton and Suzanne also consider that this winning attitude may well have been down to a more complex mix of the age old question of nurture versus nature. We will not spoil listeners enjoyment of the depth and scope of this Black Spy Podcast episode by telling you to much about the content. But suffice to say, this episode is another extremely entertaining Black Spy Podcast episode. Moreover, if you are a woman of a certain age, this episode may will be of particular interesting to you. The requirement for developers to implement minimum Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) standards became law on 12 February, and having already worked on projects this week's Horticulture Week Podcast guest already has considerable experience in the field.Although Alexandra Steed was speaking from Vancouver for the podcast recording, her landscape practice is based in London and South East England. Highlights include developing green and blue landscape infrastructure strategies for South Essex Estuary Park and masterplanning a 25% increase of footprint of Canterbury. The latter is a project that reflects the aims and concerns of BNG:"It's really looking at how we can improve the landscape while we're bringing about new development. So you know the two can happen hand in hand.Development doesn't necessarily have to mean that a landscape is harmed in any way or brings about negative consequences. In fact, if we plan in a landscape-led sort of way, then we can actually bring benefits to that landscape."Now that BNG is here, with the hope it will help reverse a rapid decline in biodiversity in UK landscapes, Alexandra nevertheless has a number of concerns:"I would say my biggest concern is that biodiversity net gain is being considered on a plot by plot basis. So rather than looking at a landscape in its kind of regional capacity, or you know, at a watershed level, where all of its natural processes and systems are taken into account - instead, we're dividing it up and trying to apply improvements on a plot by plot and piecemeal basis. And nature just doesn't work that way...so right from the start, that brings about a lot of problems"She explains her fears that measures taken could become a 'box-ticking' exercise, potentially "a homogenisation of habitats that are easy to deliver" and improvements restricted to the plot boundary, leading to disconnected islands of green space and "not getting the benefits of enriching the larger landscape".Alexandra is also concerned there will be a lack of governance and ongoing management and stewardship exacerbated by a lack of funding for in-house expertise within local authorities.More broadly, Alexandra is passionate about interconnectedness and people's connection with nature as a necessary means to heal the planet. Her book, "Portrait to Landscape: A Landscape Strategy to Reframe Our Future" explores the role policy makers, developers, landscapers through to individual citizens. As she says, it is "about how we deal with our landscapes because it expresses everything that we as humans believe about nature and our relationship to nature. So it's not just important for those of us working in the landscape industries, it's important for everybody to understand this and to understand the power held there and the power for rehabilitation within our landscapes."Presenter: HortWeek senior reporter: Rachael ForsythProducer: HortWeek digital content manager Christina Taylor Hosted on Acast. Sand martins—small birds related to swallows—dig their nests into riverbanks. Land development in South East England reduced their habitat, and the birds had fewer and fewer places to nest when they returned from their winter migration each year. Local conservationists sprang into action and built an enormous artificial sandbank to house them. With the help of a sand-sculpting firm, they molded sand to create a space for the birds to take up residence for years to come. This gracious act of compassion vividly depicts the words Jesus used to console His disciples. After telling them He’d be leaving and that they wouldn’t be able to go with Him until later (John 13:36), He offered them the assurance that He’d “prepare a place for [them]” in heaven (14:2). Though they were rightly saddened that Jesus said He would leave them soon and that they could not follow Him, He encouraged them to look on this holy errand as part of His preparation to receive them—and us. Without Jesus’ sacrificial work on the cross, the “many rooms” of the Father’s house wouldn’t be able to receive us (v. 2). Having gone before us in preparation, Christ assures us He’ll return and take those who trust in His sacrifice to be with Him. There we’ll take up residence with Him in a joyous eternity.

Steve has given his time, day in and day out to record what is happening on the Kent coast with boat loads of unidentified individuals arriving every day into the UK. Our media is silent. The public are ignorant. Our Politicians talk about immigration yet do nothing. They choose to do nothing. Steve shows the reality of what is happening to alert the public and he returns to Hearts of Oak with a new Prime Minister in office. We discuss if this political change will slow or stop the relentless mass immigration or will it just carry on regardless? Steve Laws is a reporter from South-East England and his main focus has been tackling illegal immigration. The UK has seen over 20,000 illegal migrant crossings in 2021 from Calais to Dover and in recent government figures it shows people arriving in small boats, January – October this year is around 34,000 and shows no sign of slowing down. Steve's pledge has been to tackle this issue head on and he has been documenting the crossings for a number of years as a boots on the ground journalist. No main stream media manipulation here. Sam Jahara is a UKCP Registered Psychotherapist and Tavistock certified Executive Coach with a private practice in Brighton, South-East England. She became a psychotherapist as a result of coming to terms with several aspects of her upbringing, mainly linked with cultural identity as well as being raised by parents who were involved in a cult. Sam grew up primarily in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil but moved around a lot because of her parent's involvement with their guru Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh (later renamed Osho). From age 6 she lived in communes dotted across Europe, including the UK, and life was chaotic and unsettling. After leaving the cult in her late 20s, she spent many years trying to make sense of her profound experiences of lack of belonging and a sense of identity, stemming from being both an immigrant and an ex-cult member. As with many cults, children are usually seen as objects, a hindrance, or treated as little adults. Abuse and neglect are common through the encouragement of separation of parents and children. Now in her late 40s, she is still making sense of some of these experiences and using her training and knowledge to continue to understand cults, cult leaders, and what makes people follow them. In this insightful conversation, the two therapists examine the impact that neglectful parents can have on the development of children through the lens of Sam's own perspective of being raised in an Osho commune as a young child. Together, Rachel and Sam go on to discuss the cultural identity issues that are often present in people who were raised in cults and how it relates also to those who had unstable living conditions as children. Sam offers a thoughtful analysis of her parents' motives in joining Osho's cultic community and opens up about the emotional complexities inherent in her relationships with her family today. Before You Go: Rachel further examines her concept of a spiritual placebo, explaining it can decieve followers into sacrificing the power of their own autonomy and makes them vulnerable to dependence on a guru figure. In this episode, I break down my visit to several filming locations in England. Enjoy!Topics:Lacock! The town of Lacock is a small and very old settlement home to many pubs, B&Bs, and more! Lacock also plays host to the Potter house. The filming location, anyway. The house used to portray Harry's birth place was the highlight of my visit to Lacock. The Lacock Abby is another filming location.Oxford! Oxford University is one of the oldest universities in the world, and all that history was put to good use in the Harry Potter films! Not only was it used as inspiration for Hogwarts in the books, but it also gave the film makers ideas and provided a perfect filming location! The restricted section of the library in Hogwarts is in Oxford! And Draco's time as a ferret was also spent in Oxford. And finally, The Harry Potter Studio Tour in Leavesden, South East England. I could spend days talking about this place, as it holds countless original sets, costumes, props, and effects. If you have only a day in London, the Harry Potter Studio Tour is a must!Much More!Having anything you want to hear or say? Click here for a voice submission or here for text. Liz Phillips is back with us as we take a look at stories and articles that have got our attention in this weeks news and media. She has been sharpening her teeth, ready to let rip on the woke world as we look at the revelation that more than half of police forces in England and Wales have received more corruption and sexual misconduct complaints relative to their size. The government's flagship counter-extremism Prevent strategy is failing to engage with Muslim communities with a "vacuum" of information about its purpose being left out which was then being filled by Islamists, and fear of racism accusations made some local authorities uncomfortable with tackling extremism. With the Platinum Jubilee in the UK this weekend we hear Her Majesty will miss her second event of felicitations, the Epsom Derby horse race while the Archbishop of Canterbury fails to attend a thanksgiving service for The Queen due to Covid. Lolz. We in the UK have been responsible for many musical icons and legends. The Beatles, Oasis, The Rolling Stones and Elton John to name but a few, but today we present The Kunts (not a typo) who are storming the pop charts with the very catchy tune 'Prince Andrew is a Sweaty Nonce', just in time for the Jubilee celebrations! Monkeypox mystery continues as it is revealed the outbreak is being linked to gay haunts with over 80% of the cases in London and only 2 women being reported as having the virus. The constant stream of small vessels filled with illegal migrants continues its assault on our south coast with the numbers that have crossed this year approaching 10,000, almost 3x the rate of 2021. A sad prediction by experts as they warn that almost 500,000 small businesses are at risk of going under within weeks as rising costs have created a 'ticking timebomb' with profits being wiped out by soaring energy bills. The Reclaim Party led by Laurence Fox has a new campaign called The Bad Law project, so we take a quick look at that before being joined next Monday by Harry Miller, Chairman of Reclaim, who will tell us about it in more detail. Immigration, or uncontrolled immigration is one of the biggest threats that the UK faces. Steve Laws has been reporting and documenting the invasion that has been coming across the English Channel for the last 2½ years when virtually everyone ignored it. His regular video footage has exposed the public to the truth about mass immigration, very few media outlets have covered what is happening on the Kent coastline (Nigel Farage with GB News being one of the few exceptions) and Steve often seems like a lone voice. Join us this episode to find out more about the UK immigration scandal and how Steve is highlighting it. Steve Laws is a reporter from South-East England and his main focus has been tackling illegal immigration. The UK has seen over 20,000 illegal migrant crossings in 2021 from Calais to Dover and in recent government figures it shows people arriving in small boats, January – March this year is 4,450, more than 3x higher than the same period in the previous year. Steve's pledge has been to tackle this issue head on and he has been documenting the crossings for a number of years as a boots on the ground journalist. No main stream media manipulation here. He shows the truth, he shows what is actually happening, without any fabrication. Welcome to our regular meander through the top stories and articles from the news and media this week and our very own Iron Lady, Liz Phillips returns with her straight talking and unrepentant opinions. From her bunker in deepest darkest Kent, Liz joins us as we take aim at Downing Street, PatyGate and Boris. Is the bloated lummox about to receive more fines? You sunk my battleship!! In the Ukraine conflict, Russian warship Moskva is residing in Davy Jones' Locker while the complete pillock we call our Prime Minister jaunts around 'war torn' Kiev in his suit weeks after wearing a stab proof vest while in Liverpool! In the world of science and medicine, an apparent cure has been found for heart attacks using....wait for it.... the mRNA technology used in the Covid vaccine that might be behind the sudden rise in cardiac problems we have seen, although you can get them of course through climate change, sudden referee whistles, making the bed or lack of sleep as we have learnt recently! In China tens of millions are locked down and trapped while we are being warned of some of the shortages we will expect to see (or not see as the case may be) in our stores as the CCP continue their attempt at zero Covid. Back in Blighty, Home Secretary Priti Patel approves a scheme to send illegal migrants to Rwanda in an attempt to tackle the record numbers that are invading our shores, causing a liberal meltdown from the yoghurt knitting, sandal wearing 'refugees are welcome here' brigade. Interesting times for Twitter and free speech in general as Elon Musk delivers an audacious bid for the purchase of the social media giant, they could choose the red pill or the blue pill, but have they opted for the poison one? Liz Phillips was brought up as a farmer's daughter in rural Kent in South East England. She has led a varied life, working in many industries including animal feed manufacturing, fencing, paper making and security. Liz was on the management team that opened the first ever Argos store, she owned and leased three restaurants in Mid Wales and has even managed a 5000 acre estate in France!! A member of both the Referendum Party and UKIP working latterly for Nigel Farage and Gerard Batten as PA, to help achieve the referendum and Brexit vote. Liz also has fond memories of working with the late Stuart Wheeler to reach the same goal. Married to an ex serviceman for the last 34 years, Liz and her husband started their own TV company (Freedom Digital Media Ltd.) in 2020 to rebut the propaganda and fake news from the MSM!! This covers Freedom Digital Broadcasting for TV available on ROKU, Amazon Fire and on their website, Free Tube – with similar properties to YouTube, and Free Voice on Mastadon – their own equivalent of Twitter.
