In this solo episode I delve into the intriguing intersection of Human Design, Manifestation, and the Universal Nature of Ideas, with a particular focus on the concept of copyrighting. I explore how Human Design sheds light on where ideas originate and their flow into our collective consciousness. Drawing insights from the Gate of Ideas - Gate 11 in Human Design and enriched by thought-provoking books like "Big Magic" by Elizabeth Gilbert and "Intuitive Intelligence" by Paul O'Brien, I offer a fresh perspective on the shared nature of inspiration and how copyright influences our perception of originality. This episode invites you to consider the non-proprietary nature of ideas—highlighting how multiple individuals can simultaneously come upon the same insights, much like the simultaneous invention of the light bulb. We discuss the importance of being open to receiving ideas, the creative liberation from the restrictive bounds of copyright, and the empowering realization that we are conduits, not originators, of ideas. Whether you're an entrepreneur, a creative, or anyone curious about the interplay between intuition and creativity, this episode promises to shift your perspective on how ideas manifest in our world and encourages a more collaborative and less competitive view on creativity. Join me as we explore how to harness your unique ability to channel these universal insights into meaningful action and manifestation, all within the calming, reflective pace you've come to expect from "The Art of Slowing Down. Damien Riehl is a technology lawyer with a B.S. in music. After beginning to code in 1985, and for the web in 1995, he has worked for the chief judges of state and federal courts; litigated for a decade; taught law-school copyright classes; and led teams in software development, digital forensics, proactive cybersecurity, reactive cybersecurity incidents, and world-scale investigations. Damien's combined experience in law, technology, and music have inspired his most recent project—copyrighting billions of unique melodies. Entertainment news has been abuzz with details about vocal artists who have allegedly infringed on their peers' copyrights in recent years. Legal battles have been waged and some have resulted in multi-million dollar settlements when fault is found. To protect songwriters' rights and creative freedom, fellow musician and attorney Damien Riehl co-founded the All Music Project, a melody dataset formed using the nine notes available on the musical scale. https://www.ted.com/speakers/damien_riehl https://www.songfinch.com/artists/77429 https://twitter.com/damienriehl HELP ME CROWDFUND MY GAMESTOP BOOK. When it comes to covers, picture books and other images we often forget that illustrators and artists as the creator of this work are the official copyright holders. Sometimes though authors try to use images that they believe are in the free domain. This is not always the case unless stated. In this podcast we look at the copyrighting of artistic works and the use therefore.

Robert J. Sciglimpaglia, Jr. is an award winning actor, producer, best selling author, and attorney in the fields of entertainment, copyright/trademark, personal injury, and real estate law. After 15 years as a successful Certified Worker's Compensation Specialist and attorney in areas of personal injury, real estate and entertainment/copyright law/trademark law, while flipping through an Adult Education magazine, Robert stumbled across an advertisement for a voice-over acting course. Having always been intrigued by acting, and driven by curiosity, Robert decided to enroll in the course. At this time, websites advertising voice-acting gigs were just beginning to pop-up so voice artists could easily audition and do voice over jobs from home, and Robert found it easy to find work. He landed his first voice-over gig working with PBS, in "American Experience: Hijacked!". He quickly began to be offered more work and was afforded the opportunity to work with some of Hollywood's biggest companies and stars, such as "Music and Lyrics", his first film, and Disney's "Enchanted". In 2012, he starred in the Super Bowl's viral Chevy commercial, "Happy Grad" which has been featured every year since on CBS's "Super Bowl's Greatest Commercials." The same year, after receiving questions from other aspiring voice over actors all over the world, he decided to combine his law background and voice-acting experience and wrote his first book, "Voice Over Legal". The book covers all the legal aspects of becoming a voice-actor, from starting a business and establishing an LLC, to the proper contracts required to work as a voice actor. It also covers some of the basics of the business like agents and Performance Unions, such as SAG-AFTRA. Just two years later, his book was the #1 best-seller in Amazon's entertainment law category. Today, Robert has a production company, Belair Productions, that has three short films that have brought home a combined 75 awards (and counting), which are running the festival circuit and are available for streaming on Amazon Prime and other platforms. Robert has appeared in off Broadway productions, on National Television and in major feature films many times. Jules, Rachel, and Stephanie discuss how they've noticed some artists are charging ridiculous pricing for courses. If you have a question you'd like us to discuss feel free to email us at hello@artistssoar.com Key talking points: Are artists trying to take advantage of artists with the pricing structure of the courses? Charging $1500 for a 6-week course is more than what you'd pay for a college-level focused course. In-depth courses should have pre-requisites to ensure that everyone within the course has the same level of experience. We kind of get fired up about everyone taking advantage of artists. To find the success you need from these courses you need the self-discipline to get something out of the course. Copyrighting for content go to Jim Edwards's book Copyrighting Secrets. and his software is trafficsecretsscripts.com Emails should be short and sweet...Headline is the #1 thing to focus on. Use this headline analyzer to help with your open rate. You cannot take a 6-week course and expect to be successful. Keep in mind that these course providers are only showcasing their top 1%... Do the research on the teachers that are selling the course to evaluate whether they are worth it. Look at LinkedIn, their shops, Google them, their Facebook, etc. Art classes and business classes from artists should be the same price rather than devaluing their art side. Put your courses at a realistic price. Artists need to stop devaluing their art courses. Email us at hello@artistssoar.com Rise with us! On Artists Soar! Stop Letting Yourself Slide ~ Hold Yourself Accountable! | Dr. Rick Wallace Far too many of you give yourself permission to be average. You give yourself permission to not be where you want and need to be financially. What I mean by this is that when you are forced to acknowledge that you are not where you should be in some area of your life, you justify it with some pathetic excuse and accept it as your reality. Allow me to elucidate my position here. I am not saying that you should not find yourself in positions and situations that fall below the standards of excellence you are capable of. What I am saying is that you should not accept it as a part of your reality. There should be something that drives you to want more and be better. I wake up every day and access where I am, and I am never where I want to be. I immediately challenge myself to be better this day than yesterday and to grow in some areas. It is time to hold yourself accountable for living life through the paradigm of excellence. No more excuses. ~ Rick Wallace, Ph.D., Psy.D. ___________________________ If you are serious about changing your life for the better and you are ready to commit to taking on the challenge, I invite you to partner with me for the experience of a lifetime. One of the issues that still hasn't managed to be resolved in the mainstream NFT markets is what you are actually buying other than a record of ownership in a distributed ledger of a row that contains a link to a file. Many people still think they are "buying" the art pointed to by an NFT, but that's generally not the case. For example, the Larva Labs CryptoPunks does have a contract of sorts, but it does things like put an upper cap of 100,000$ that can be earned using the punk that the NFT you own points to, so it's a bit unclear on reproduction and monetization rights. People who have blatantly copied CryptoPunks, or platforms that display such copies, have received DMCA take-down notices. And so in this episode, I talk a bit about the issue of copyright and digital art, especially when the artwork is very very small.
