Max Lugavere, science journalist, NY Times best-selling author and host of the Genius Life Podcast, is joining Tom and running down the role of sugar in obesity and what foods are better to avoid when you want to optimize your body's nourishment and stop overeating.Medical costs due to obesity was near $173 billion in the United States in 2019. Being over weight literally has a higher price tag that reaches far beyond the personal affects and limitations it places on your body and lifestyle. By now, we are well aware of how sugar is destroying our health, but is it really every kind of sugar, and what can you do about it to see improvement without feeling shamed and degraded for not being “skinny.” Max also addresses why being skinny and a smaller size doesn't equate to being healthier and healthy actually looks like.“Eat what you need to build” -Tom BilyeuCheck out Max Lugavere's latest book, Genius Kitchen: https://www.amazon.com/Genius-Kitchen-Delicious-Recipes-Strong/dp/006302294X SHOW NOTES:0:00 Introduction Max Lugavere0:28 | Avoid These Foods8:38 | Surprising Impacts of Sugar20:03 | Should You Eat Dairy?29:34 | The Worst Oils to Consume45:34 | Is Mouthwash Bad for You?52:48 | Meat Vs. Are you excited and ready to contour and beat your face to the gods? Do you feel like it takes away and diminishes the natural beauty of a woman? Or do you see women in makeup and feel critical, like she must be hiding something, she's being phony or superficial? When it comes to being confident, looks do matter, but maybe not for the reason you think. Mally Roncal is an entrepreneur and celeb makeup artist that exudes levels of confidence and beauty anyone would want. She touches on why embracing what makes you different, what makes you unique, and sometimes what makes you feel the most uncomfortable is a power only you can harness. There is a connection between our inner beauty and the physical. You are not defined by one or the other, and there is no shame in celebrating yourself the way that makes you feel most confident.Beauty isn't about other people, it's about you and feeling good and dressing up and highlighting your beauty in the way you choose to feel and look your best.At this Rad Con Live event Lisa is joined by incredibly confident and strong women such as Danielle Canty of Bossbabes, Nicole LePera, and Eve Torres Gracie from Gracie Jiu Jitsu. As we've noted many times on the show, mentorship can be helpful and fulfilling for both a mentor and mentee. Today's guests are the perfect example of this dynamic relationship. Silvana Roncal mentored Jennifer Perez through a nonprofit organization called LEAP, which stands for Ladies Empowerment and Action Program. The organization places businesswomen in the Homestead Correctional Institution to mentor incarcerated women. They teach them entrepreneurial and life skills to prepare them for re-entering into society. Silvana and Jennifer share their mentorship journey with Gerard. They also explain the tough realities of transitioning from prison life to civilian life. Listen in and learn something new today. Brian and Stephanie have shared many stages and green rooms as bandmates, and as substitute players. Though Stephanie scared Brian during their first encounter on stage, their comfort with each other has since changed, and it shows. During the conversation, Brian highlights what could have been traumatizing early performances as a child, how he was able to dust himself off, and walk right back onstage with even more confidence the next time.He can also be seen performing regularly with Red Carpet Riot, as well as many other bands.
