“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” - 2 Timothy 1:7I saw a beautiful photo story about Diamond. The artist said that cinema has to do a better job showing the tenderness of Black lives. I thought about it and remembered the single best moment in cinematic history is when Denzel Washington looked wickedness in the face, flexed his back, and braced his heart for an act of terrorism. You remember. His "ally", Matthew Broderick, ordered the use of violence to inject fear into the heart of this free Black man. Denzel resisted. And with a single tear of defiance, he became fearless. Fear is the greatest tool of white supremacy. So today, we honor a real spiritual warrior. A woman named Diamond Reynolds, who refused to be paralyzed by fear and found a way to speak.Spiritual Warrior of the Day:On July 6, 2016, Diamond Reynolds watched the murder of her boyfriend Philando Castille. The officer's gun was still drawn. Pointing in the car at her and her 4-year-old daughter. At that moment, Diamond got snatched up by a spirit of love and became fearless. She pressed record to tell the world what was happening to her family. It was an act of raw and radical love."There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear." - 1 John 4:18Once it was over, Diamond folded into soft tears. Unafraid, once again to show us a Black woman. Vulnerable. Real. Soft. That is spiritual warriorship.Do not give them your humanity. Don't stop crying. Don't stop loving. In fact, love harder. ...your children, your neighbors, your soul mates, your self, your God. Your love is perfect. Black women, don't fold into darkness. Your love is our light. Rock with it. Roll with it. Wail if you have to. Tell the world what is happening to us. Shout it out. Don't hold it in. That's what Diamond taught us. It's no wonder she calls herself Lavish Reynolds. She IS lavish. Thick with humanity. Thick with loving-kindness. Thick with inextinguishable joy. With radical vulnerability. With supreme love and light. And at point-blank range, fear could not win over her love. I sat down with my friend who has decided to tackle her old belief system -that she needed to be small in order for God to be great. Her religious upbringing in modesty, purity, and in many ways...shame; stopped her from considering she is beautiful, awesome, and wonderful. Which kept her small, quiet, and unsure of herself. Although her story is different from mine, I feel as though we have so many commonalities in what we have experienced in our lives -that when we talked, I kept hearing her tell parts of my story through hers. Like me, as Becky gets older she finds herself a cheerleader for growth in "the self", and knowing who you are. These are tricky waters, especially in an age where everybody has an opinion about what others are doing. It seems that you make yourself a target to say "I'm Awesome, I'm amazing, I love me!" And since that's where she's at, I wanted to invite her to elaborate more than what she's said in her instagram posts, and to let her know I stand behind her -cheerleading her in return. We also touched on feminism, femininity and the fluidity of gender roles once we allow ourselves to have both feminie and masculine qualities. I also admitted to having some pretty opinionated beliefs on what I "expect from" women, since I also admit to seeing us as the more sensible of the two genders. Becky comes back with the need for each individual to understand their "currency", and it's clear what my currency is not. This is a fun one, and could easily go multiple directions in a part 2, 3, or 4. Which maybe needs to happen. I dare you not to fall in love with Becky's giggle. She IS amazing. No doubt God knows it, so it's about time she knows it too. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/natandchat/support

“Am I even speaking?” “Maybe I’m invisible.” “Is all of this mothering worth it?” And they are valid questions. Between the constant busyness and daily chaos and the sleepless nights up with the kids or worrying about the kids--it can be REALLY hard to see that we’re making a difference as moms. Not making a difference by changing the entire world, but in the consistencies of who we are and how we love. Are those things making a difference in the lives of our kids?In this episode, Jen and I have this exact conversation, AND share a little bit of hope -- you know, those glorious moments between the chaos where your child surprises you with proof that something you’ve said or done has sunk in?! “It's my purpose to use my privilege to be a voice and a vehicle for other people. That's it. End of. It has nothing to do with me. If I'm serving that, then I'm on my path. So I'm happy to help anyone who can advance the cause.” —Leslie Askew This is a story about the birth of an artist. It’s a story bucking the art establishment in favor of listening to your inner voice. Status quo says only certain types of media creators are artists. The status quo here in the United States feeds on the idea that resources are scarce. Swimming in this soup, creatives compete for the attention and dollar of gatekeepers. But what happens if we wake up and see alternatives? What happens when we build our systems and technique from a place of collaboration? When it comes to something as sacred and personal as art and creativity, how do we break from the establishment to nurture it? Leslie Askew did just that. She IS doing that, every day. It’s a life-long practice. This episode is about her unique creative process. It’s a window into her philosophy and how the art of storytelling has taken her from CNN to independent documentary film. In today’s episode, I’m joined by coach and community builder, Nailah Blades Wylie. Nailah is the CEO of Color Outside, a curated travel company for ambitious women of color who are ready to create unapologetic, soul stirring lives through outdoor adventure. She started Color Outside as a safe place for women of color to come together and unlock where they're feeling stuck so that they can fully step into their joy and shine. When she's not leading adventure retreats or consulting with brands you can find Nailah hiking with her husband or playing intense games of hide-n-go seek with her two tiny kids. I have known Nailah for many years now — since we were both “young female entrepreneurs” in LA — and every conversation I’ve had with her has been filled with wisdom and insight that I want to immediately apply to my life. It was really an honor to have her on the show and to continue to learn from her. In today’s conversation, we talked about how she’s gotten comfortable with taking big leaps, how companies can do a better job creating more inclusive spaces for marginalized communities, and why it’s so important to her to get outside and help other women of color find joy doing the same. We also talk about: Her three-part framework for how to be a more inclusive brand Why decentering ourselves is the key to building better communities What having two kids and two companies has taught her about balancing the many requests for her time and energy Why now, maybe more than ever, it’s so important to keep dreaming . . . and so much more! I also want to note that we recorded this episode back on April 22nd. Had we had this conversation any time in the last three weeks, I have no doubt we would’ve talked about what’s going on in the world — and about how that’s impacted us individually, how that’s impacted the Black community, and why it just continues to highlight how important Nailah’s work is in the world. And, when I think about Nailah, I think about joy. I think about the joy she cultivates in her own life, I think about the joy she helps women of color find in the outdoors, I think about the joy she brings to the lives of the people who know her! I’m so grateful for this conversation, because everything we talk about — everything Nailah so graciously shares — is still so important to our current societal conversation. Thank you, as always, for listening. I hope you enjoy the show! — Follow Nailah: Website Instagram (Color Outside) Facebook (Color Outside) Instagram (Nailah Blades Wylie) Other Notable Links: Brave Enough to Be - Episode 1 She Is the Universe Brave Enough to Be - Episode 4 Writing Pad CREDITS Editing & Sound Engineering: Jordan Johansen Music: “Kenton” by Dr Crosby (Licensed via Marmoset)

Download this Podcast Luke 7:36-39—Now one of the Pharisees invited Jesus to have dinner with him, so He went to the Pharisee's house and reclined at the table. When a woman who had lived a sinful life in that town learned that Jesus was eating at the Pharisee's house, she brought an alabaster jar of perfume, and as she stood behind him at his feet weeping, she began to wet his feet with tears. Then she wiped them with her hair, kissed them and poured perfume on them. When the Pharisee who had invited him saw this, he said to himself, "If this man were a prophet, he would know who is touching him and what kind of woman she is—that she is a sinner." The post She Is a Sinner appeared first on Getting to Know Jesus.
First off, mindset shift...” it’s a privilege to be somebody’s mama.” A privilege. I will always remember that quote. I learned so much from the Working Mom’s Coach. Wow. SO much. Positive psychology is one of the things she introduced me too. I had never heard the term. The definition of positive psychology-the scientific study of what makes life worth living. Focusing on the positive. Instead of complaining about certain aspects of mommyhood, we should pivot to choosing happiness. Heavy. I love how Mrs. Robbie saw the need working moms have based on what she saw around her and through her own experiences. She created this coaching program to coach moms through the difficult times we have. I love how she said she gained some of the knowledge she has through education but she knew she wanted to use that knowledge, not to move up the corporate ladder herself, but to coach other working moms to achieve that goal. The Working Mom’s Coach helps her clients achieve the M.O.R.E. Factor M – Manage Mom Guilt O – Overcome being Overwhelmed R – Reassure them of their relevance, and go from E – Exhausted to Excited about life! I was glad she pointed out she helps moms in multiple aspects. She mentioned she coaches clients in relationship goals, financially, and spiritually, just to name a few. And I love how she said she starts her coaching calls with gratefulness. Yes, I'm just so full y’all. She offers 3 and 6-month coaching programs but with the current state of the world, she is offering a 4-week condensed option as well. She IS accepting new clients. In addition to positive psychology, another favorite resource of hers are works by Dr. Carolyn Leaf, a neuroscientist. You can find the working moms coach by visiting her website Workingmoms.coach On IG @the_working_moms_coach And if you want to just shoot her a quick email her email address is Workingmomscoach@gmail.com I hope you are just as full as I am after hearing this episode. If so, subscribe to the show and share this episode with a mom you know and love. All of them. Every and any mom could benefit from at least one of the gems available here. If you’re feeling extra full, leave a 5-star rating for the Super Cyto Girl podcast. Thanks! Love y’all. Until next time.

And love interest? Why does that inscription rhyme in English? Do we like the found footage execution? Why was this premise so brain-meltingly dumb? Is this movie scary? Are we just going to ignore the cult? Would you really just go ask for this criminal trespasser by name in a night club? Did Benji disappoint you the most? Do beautiful, petite white ladies with clavicles of steel really get forgiven for Turkish prisons so easily? (Rachel weighs in!) Why didn’t we get to stay in Iran? Why would Nicholas Flamel know Aramaic? Does anyone else hate acronyms? With this deductive logic, why weren’t they on Legends of the Hidden Temple? Why/how/for why does Scarlett have all of these random degrees? Is this a video game? Is Scarlett Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson? How is this woman not hospitalized? Why be scared when you could be just NOT UNDERGROUND? What’s the first thing you’d do when you survive the adventure? As Above So Below (2014)– Written and directed by John Erick Dowdle. Performances by Perdita Weeks, Ben Feldman, Edwin Hodge, and Francois Civil. Genre: Horror, Thriller, Suspense, Supernatural Where to watch: NetflixSummary: Archaeologist Scarlett Marlowe (Perdita Weeks) has devoted her whole life to finding one of history's greatest treasures: Flamel's Philosopher's Stone. According to legend, the artifact can grant eternal life and turn any metal into gold. When she learns that the stone is hidden underground in the Catacombs of Paris, she assembles a crew to guide and document her historic mission. As they begin their descent, the team-members have no way of knowing that they are entering their own personal hell.Links: Pre-order Mary Kay’s book on Indiebound, Amazon, or from her person via email.“Everyday Use” by Alice Walker Pull Quotes:When she was like, Let’s go into the earth to search for this alchemical agent, I would have been like, No.—Mary BeyerAll of the obstacles are false obstacles.—Mary BeyerSo we’re just going to ignore the cult?—Mary Kay McBrayerCommit to ONE ridiculous premise.—Rachel EstridgeAnd then, boom, we’re in Paris.—Mary Kay McBrayerNicholas Flamel wakes up and says, ‘Get out of my room.’—Mary BeyerI would never compare Scarlett to my beloved, beloved Rock. I have the folder called “Pretty Music”. Its tracks don’t really share any precise musical genre, period or even style. They are there because I find them just that: “pretty songs”. They are symbolic of the influence from so many DJ friends (afraid to mention them all and miss someone, but you know who you are…). I always think how lucky I am to have learned from them and to have listened to many of these tunes while dancing among our extended family during the past 20+ years here in NY. Once in a while, when I am in that mood, I go down in the basement and play them, and it makes me feel better. I hope it makes you feel better too. Fernando Tracks 1.
