Phil has competed in over 300 sanctioned competitions (350 to be exact) including IBCA, KCBS, BCA, and LSBS to date. Phil currently has 90 Grand Champion & Reserve Grand Champion wins combined, with over 300k Career Earnings. Phil grew up In Sour Lake, Texas, his love for food started at a young age, and sports fueled his competitive drive to be the best. He now resides in Bandera Texas with his wife Carmen and their four children. Phil's first competition was in January of 2015…Hardin County Go Texan in Silsbee, TX. The cookoff had 19 teams and they only called top 3 places in each meat. Phil remembers “I sat on my butt through chicken, then ribs, then brisket until they got to 1st place…Boom!  I was hooked.” Now borderline obsessed with the sport of competition barbecue he was constantly mixing up new concoctions to get an edge. That's when Fowl Play was born. Phil went through many versions starting in 2016 until perfection was reached and he launched LC BBQ Fowl Play in 2018. This same method is still in place, He perfects each recipe and tests them in real competitions until the results let him know it's a winner. Play Bull debuted later in 2018, with Bosshog and Angry Bull to follow in 2019.

On March 9, 2023, 27-year-old Kay-Alana Turner left a friend's home in Silsbee, Texas, and headed toward Austin, about four hours away, apparently to see a friend. In the days leading up to March 9, Kay-Alana had not been sleeping well, and she didn't seem quite like herself. Witnesses in the towns of Hockley and Tomball, Texas, interacted with Kay-Alana in the early morning hours of March 10. She had been asking people if she could sleep in their driveways. By this time, Kay-Alana's phone had died. Around 6 AM, a homeowner in the Holly Creek Estates subdivision in Tomball, Texas, noticed Kay-Alana's car in their driveway, and she was asleep inside. The homeowner decided to call someone from their homeowner's association and other neighbors. They gathered around Kay-Alana's car and attempted to wake her. Kay-Alana was scared and decided to drive her car away, but they blocked her. Then, an officer from Harris County broke Kay-Alana's driver-side window. She bolted, first by driving her car through the yard, out through some farmland, and eventually into the woods, where the vehicle got stuck. With deputies behind her on foot, she decided to run. Kay-Alana dropped her phone along the way and later removed her shoes, full of glass from the broken window. In the days that followed, Kay-Alana's loved ones began to compare notes and came to believe that she was suffering a mental health crisis that night. Despite extensive searches of the area where Kay-Alana was last seen, no trace of her, other than her phone and shoes, has ever been found. If you have any information about Kay-Alana's disappearance, please contact the Harris County Sheriff's Office at 713-755-7427.Photo Credit: James Blaign RamboThis episode was sponsored by:Zbiotics- Go to Zbiotics.com/VANISHED to get 15% off your first order when you use code VANISHED at checkout. If you have a missing loved one that you would like to have featured on the show, please fill out our case submission form.Follow The Vanished on social media at:FacebookInstagramTwitterPatreonSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

On March 8, 2023, 27-year-old Kay-Alana Turner stayed at a friend's home in Silsbee, Texas. Kay-Alana's friend, Brittany, noticed that she hadn't been sleeping well, and something appeared to be troubling Kay-Alana. The following morning, Brittany left for work, believing Kay-Alana was asleep. As the day wore on, Brittany kept trying to contact Kay-Alana, but something was off with the way that her text messages were going through. She attempted to reach Kay-Alana via phone and Facetime video calls. She eventually reached Kay-Alana, but something still wasn't quite right, and she didn't know where her friend was. Brittany enlisted the help of Kay-Alana's boyfriend, James, who went out searching for her that night. He stopped at all of Kay-Alana's familiar places with no luck. They later learned that Kay-Alana had planned to visit a friend in Austin, about a four-hour drive from Brittany's home. Where along that 245-mile trip could something have gone wrong? Did Kay-Alana get into an accident? Had she run out of gas? They searched frantically throughout the night, and by the next morning, stories began to emerge about Kay-Alana that seemed so out of character for her. Kay-Alana's loved ones couldn't believe what they were hearing. One thing they knew for sure was that they needed to find Kay-Alana.If you have any information about Kay-Alana's disappearance, please contact the Harris County Sheriff's Office at 713-755-7427.Photo Credit: James Blaign RamboThis episode was sponsored by:Audible- Visit Audible.com/MIA or text MIA to 500-500 to try Audible free for 30 days.Doordash- Our listeners can get 50% off, up to a $20 value no min sub total when you download the Doordash App and enter code VANISHEDGROCERY.Zbiotics- Go to Zbiotics.com/VANISHED to get 15% off your first order when you use code VANISHED at checkout.

Before his current role, he was the General Manager of Gulfgate Dodge Chrysler Jeep in Houston for over four years and the Owner of Deerbrook Forest Chrysler Jeep in Kingwood for over 23 years. Additionally, Dale served on the Board of Directors at NADA for six years and spent almost two years working as a performance manager for vAuto. In this episode… When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, industries across the board faced a decline in sales. While car buying slowed during the first few months of the pandemic, June brought a spike in sales for many dealerships—including Dale Early's. Dale, the Dealer Principal and Owner of Hyundai of Silsbee, believes that the car business model is changing for the better as dealerships continue to create new efficiencies during this uncertain time. In this episode of Inside Auto Podcast, Ilana Shabtay and Chaya David talk to Dale Early from Hyundai of Silsbee about his experience in the automotive industry. Tune in as he discusses digital marketing, how he's learned to run his business differently in light of the current pandemic, and how the automotive industry will continue to adjust as our world shifts to what he refers to as a “new abnormal.”

Lomelda - "Wonder" from the 2020 album Hannah on Double Double Whammy. From the swamps of Silsbee, TX emerges singer/songwriter Hannah Read, who records under the name Lomelda, but she re-embraces her birth name for the title of her forthcoming fifth full-length, Hannah, out September 4th via Double Double Whammy. Read recorded the album with her brother Tommy over the span of a year, apparently re-recording it three different times before she was satisfied.  Via a press release, Read describes today's Song of the Day as "about working hard," adding, "It is my most fun song to play. And I got to play drums on it, so it's my favorite Lomelda song forever. In this week's podcast, Episcopal priest James Derkits and I explore the human need for community as expressed through the way the South Texas island town, Port Aransas, responds to the destruction following Hurricane Harvey. We explore individual and collective trauma and recognize that sometimes people find psychological gold after enduring the darkest of times. We begin this conversation by James vulnerably explaining the journey through his priesthood, which includes a period of doubt. James and I explore Christian theology and define terms ranging from priest and grace to ritual, and James eloquently helps us understand what religion means to him and how he understands the term Christ – James has a broad definition of this term that may signify more than one may think. The episode reframes my understanding of the Christian tradition (it just might not be what you think). James's Bio: I grew up in Silsbee, TX I went to college in San Marcos I'm married to Laura Derkits Eli is our son I'm an Episcopal Priest I live in Port Aransas I'm a musician I love being outdoors I pay attention to my dreams Where to reach James: http://james-derkits.blogspot.com http://www.trinitybythesea.org https://www.facebook.com/TrinitybytheSea/ Music by James: https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/buffalo-roam/1129484513 Theme music provided by: http://www.modernnationsmusic.com Learn more about this project at: http://www.thesacredspeaks.com Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thesacredspeaks/
