Back after our holiday breaks. Trips to Ohio and Wisconsin were taken. Family festivities were attended. We check in to see how Santa treated us, and ring in the New Year. Steve tells us how to get around the DIA airport and Brandon gets into wordy t-shirts. Oh yeah, and #TacoBarChristmas. America 3000: Many years after Mercans and Commies nuked each other, Fraus rule the world and keep men mostly as their machos, except for a few that contribute when they need some seedin'. Plugots roam the plains, scraping together a bare existence while the Fraus horde all the weps and eats, in keeping with their regs. When the Tiara of Frisco falls in battle, her daughter must take over. One man with heavy smarts, because he found a book, wants nege more of these cold days and tries to lead his people down a warm path. This is how they speak in the movie, solemn swear. That shit is woggos. Scan what I'm talkin'? America 3000 final grade: We try a more scientific approach to grading our first movie of the new year. We're not sure if it helped or not. The numbers say 2.6/5. Here's what the feels say. Steve Bad movie. Good lighting, though. The constant use of the future people's stupid-sounding language, while interesting and innovative, was grating. The geology didn't look anything like Colorado. 2.03/5.0 Brandon This one was bad, but it was a good flick to have some fun with, which can't be said for many of the movies we've watched. Not Samurai Cop level of unintentional comedy, but it was fanplastic. 3.19/5.0 Cocktail of the Week: Cocktail with No Name 2 oz Stranahan's Colorado Single Malt Whiskey 1 oz Vanilla liqueur 1 oz Fresh-squeezed Orange Juice 1/2 oz Cinnamon-infused Simple Syrup Combine all ingredients in a cocktail shaker. Shake to chill and combine, then strain into a rocks glass over ice. Garnish with a dehydrated orange slice, if Santa brought you some. Cocktail Grade: Easily the best cocktail Brandon has cobbled together. Tastes good, and makes movies better than they really are. 4.2/5 ------------------ Contact us with feedback or cocktail/movie recommendations to: boozeandbmovies@gmail.com X: @boozeandbmovies Instagram: @boozeandbmovies Threads: @boozeandbmovies www.facebook.com/boozeandbmovies

Hello B-oo's Crew! This week we travel to Fort Lauderdale, Fl, to visit the oldest standing structure in the city. The Stranahan House was the home of local pioneers Frank and Ivy Stranahan. Frank a true pilar of the community, aiding in making Fort Lauderdale what it is today, and Ivy, a true trailblazer for woman everywhere. The Stranahans would build the home in 1901 and it would become the epicenter for the devolopment of the city. A trading post, a school aimed at helping educate young Seminole natives, city hall and much more. This story is truly amazing and has quickly become one our favorites. While a lot of paranormal claims are born of blood and murder, this one is different. We're finally back to whiskey, I promise! This is a classic episode - a distillery making single malt in the corn capital of the US. Don't worry, they make a damn good bourbon, too, but my first taste of Cedar Ridge was a single barrel of their single malt picked by Lost Lantern.  I'm joined by head distiller and Scotch-lover Murphy Quint, who has led the distillery's operations except for a stint at Stranahan's. We chatted about adding a distillery onto a winery, making their whiskey stand out, and most importantly what the Quints want their legacy to be.  _________________ Before we jump into the interview just a few quick notes: The first WRP barrel pick is coming! In this episode, Matt tastes Stranahan's Colorado Single Malt.  Tasting NotesStranahan's Colorado Single Malt was one of the first purveyors of a style that many American distillers are now touting as the next big thing. Bottled at 94 proof from a blend of 5, 6, 7, and 8 year old barrels and non-chill filtered, Stranny's exhibits biscuity malt notes, cherry syrup, butterscotch, and cinnamon on the nose. On the palate, pure cinnamon spice with a sweet malt note building up from beneath. Long, spicy finish. It's not bourbon. It's not Scotch. It's not Irish, but something completely delicious on its own

“What are you mixed with?” This is a question often posed to multi-racial & racially ambiguous folks, requiring them to reevaluate their identities, especially if they are members of the Black community. In this episode, two multi-racial girls from the Justice is Us Project, Alayna Maragh, and Angie Mejia, evaluate the intersectionality and complications of multi-racial identity, such as identity crisis, colorism, light skin privilege, apartheid, and more. Strap in, because it's going to be one bumpy ride. ...Angie (Angeles) Mejia is a queer Afro-Latinx activist, and a representative of the Justice is Us Project. When she's not advocating for a cause, she's often found writing poetry and speaking about her lived experiences, especially those conversations that often omit intersectionality.  They've been involved with the Afterschool Alliance and the Broward Youth Coalition. Her motto is "Always root for the underdog." ...Alayna Maragh is a Blasian who represents the Justice is Us Project. With most of her ancestry coming from the very mixed island of Jamaica, there is still a lot of confusion on what exactly she is, however, she is still proud of her nationality and race(s). She currently attends a high school where most students are monoracial minorities. She is also currently working in the Charity Department on an immersive Web3 project, “The Jockey Experience.” She's been a part of Stranahan's Medical program for some time and wishes to branch out and explore what the world has to offer.

That is exactly how this company got their start Jess Graber and George Stranahan went into business together, in 2004, over the shared love of fine whiskey Together they developed a recipe for a distinctively smooth and flavorful American single malt whiskey The mash bill is simple 100% malted barley and then cut with rocky mountain water This distillery is very interesting Their bottles are hand-bottled by a rotating crew of volunteers and, at least, used to contain a handwritten date of when the whiskey was distilled. It also contained a comment by the person who was bottling it There are now 14 team members on staff there They have 6 bottling that they offer and they also do a single barrel program What intrigues me the most about this distillery is that, even though American single malt is still struggling to be a thing, they have a lot in their lineup Stranahan's original Claiming to be the #1 American single malt whiskey So small batch that they cannot guarantee that any two batches are the same Blue Peak Uses the Solera process to age this bottle The blending and marriage of old barrels with young barrels it is a way of getting younger product out on the market quicker without it tasting young Mountain Angel (10 year) Colorado is higher altitude and colder, meaning more evaporation of alcohol More goes to the angel's share it is comparable to a Scotch that is twice it's age Snowflake What was once created as a special thank you for the volunteers has now turned into a once a year release that can only be purchased at the gift shop Past bottling have been finished in multiple barrels from multiple spirits, including mezcal Diamond Peak Aged for 4 years in American oak and then aged for 3 more years in used Bushmills barrels Sherry Cask Take their 4 year old whiskey and let it sit in 500-liter oloroso sherry barrels for an undisclosed amount of time --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/whiskey-exchange/support

When Jenna unexpectedly becomes pregnant she begins an affair with her gynecologist Dr. Jim Pomatter. Looking for ways out she sees a pie contest and its grand prize as her chance. Dawn is the “shy and quirky” type, who longs for a true love. Marzetta's so infectious and endearing as Dawn, that she could easily teach a master's class. She lands the one-liners with ease, which put smiles on the audience's faces.” -Adrian Gomez (Albuquerque Journal) Gabriella Marzetta https://gabriellamarzetta.com/ Gabriella is a versatile actor/singer/dancer with a wellspring of depth, a lighthearted quirk with quick comedic timing and an earthy, animated youthful spirit. A lover of collaborative and intimate environments, Gabriella has great talent in building strong ensembles and creating work that is honest, vulnerable, and thought provoking. She has been consistently working since graduating from CAP21 May of 2016. She studied a multitude of styles and techniques such as Meisner, Shaw, Shakespeare, Chekov, Mask Work, Lecoq, On Camera Technique, TV/Film, Clowning, and Linklater Technique. She has a natural intuition that reads strong on stage/screen, loves all things that include a jam session with some dope in the moment harmony, classic rock and folk (Joni Mitchell/Brandi Carlile's #1 fan) is a midwestern gal at heart and LOVES to make people laugh. Gabriella grew up in St. Charles and Geneva, Illinois (about 45 minutes outside of Chicago) and spent most of her childhood playing in the mud and cornfields of Oglesby, Illinois at her grandma and grandpa's house. Very shy as a child, she spent most of her elementary school and middle school days holed up in her house teaching herself songs on the piano and guitar and creating intricate stories on The Sims or playingBarbies, along with writing scripts and filming an assortment of media from her solo talk show "Gab's Corner" to her Barbie Soap Opera "Average" starring the Mary-Kate Olsen barbie doll, to her legendary music videos (most notably her rendition of Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen.) The first time she stepped into the spotlight was when she first sang in front of a crowd at age 10. It started with her father persuading her into auditioning for the school talent show by buying her the Daphne (Ala Scooby Doo) Barbie Doll. From that moment on, Gabriella continued to be known for her shy exterior and powerhouse voice. She continued down the path of performing by becoming an avid community theatre participant, took acting/dance classes/piano and guitar lessons growing up and even assisted theatre classes for children at different theatre companies as a teenager, resulting in a more confident and extraverted version of Gabriella. Who would have thought putting an extremely introverted child in the arts would help her flourish and realize her full potential?! (jokes...but really. thank god(s) for ART)
