Long before TFI Friday and Britpop there was a Friday night Channel 4 show that drew an enormous viewership among the young, and that show was 'The Word', a television show helmed by Mr Terry Christian. Starting out in radio at the age of just 19, Terry has had a remarkable career that put him front and centre of the Manchester music scene, and later in a position to fight for those bands to gain exposure on Channel 4. It hasn't been easy and Terry pulls no punches in telling his story. What Did Jesus Say? Terry Christian Born with a stuttering problem in a dysfunctional family, Terry Christian was ridiculed and mocked for most of his young life… At the age of 23, he had a near death experience and was told in a dream that, one day, he would be a teacher for Jesus… but, just like Mose, he questioned “how” because of his stuttering problem… Soon after, he was hired by the Dale Carnegie Organization and trained in sales and public speaking. It was here, he met someone who taught him how to visually read… so he was soon devouring as many books as he could find – mainly on the subject of personal growth. Amen! At the age of 30, he became a motivational speaker and an executive trainer. He would go on to give more than 2500 presentations across America and Canada. Terry Christian has since retired as the Holy Spirit redirected his life. He is now in the missions ministry, his ministry is called, “Foundations for Life,” and he based in Jamaica. He is also the author of a very special, unique book, titled, “What Did Jesus Say: The Seven Messages from the Master.” This book uses ONLY the spoken words of Jesus… commonly referred to as the “red letters” of the Bible. No commentary. No extra explanations… he just allows Jesus to do the talking. Amen! One more thing… he walks the walk as well as talks the talk. Back in 2010, he was diagnosed with bladder cancer and given only a few years to live. He created his own “healing sabbatical” and, after fasting and praying for 21 days and walking on the beach in Jamaica, he returned to the doctor and was declared cancer free! Glory to God! And he remains cancer free to this day. Amen! Having said all that, I have been looking forward to today's interview – as Terry has some special information that you will want to hear…this is something that may not be for everyone… but I can almost guarantee – “somebody out there somewhere” listening to us right now is going to resonate with what he will be sharing. Terry hosted radio shows for the BBC and Manchester's Key FM. Moving back to TV Terry would become the host of Channel 4's iconic early 90's show The Word.  Here many groups would be playing live for the first time on British TV, including Oasis, Nirvana, Snoop Dogg, Public Enemy and Rage Against the Machine. After dropping out of a chemistry course he didn't want to start, a young Terry caught the eye of a TV producer, kickstarting his presenting career. His big break came in the form of The Word, a youth-led and often anarchic TV show for Channel 4.

Jon Ronson is a writer and broadcaster whose award-winning podcast and Radio 4 series Things Fell Apart investigated the stories behind today's culture wars. Lindsay Anderson's international reputation surpassed his fame in Britain, where his uncompromisingly anti-establishment stance failed to win him mainstream admirers, but he made several more provocative films and is remembered fondly by his friends and collaborators as an extremely funny, loyal and principled man. Jesus is known as “The Son of God.” As He is and as He should be. Then, in John chapter 1 verse 1, we read, “In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God…” Drop to verse 14 and we read, “And the Word was made FLESH and dwelt among us…” This scripture is referring to JESUS. We're looking back at March 1993 and the beginnings of one of the great modern music stories. That Spring, Liverpool band 'The Real People' were asked by an up-and-coming band from Manchester to put together a professional demo tape that they could send round to record labels. The tape - called 'Live Demonstration' - was recorded mostly at Liverpool's Porter Street studios and copies have been said to have been auctioned for more than £6,000. Why? Because it was Oasis. And the track 'Columbia' became the first Oasis song ever played on Radio 1... Adrian is joined by Paul Arthurs, AKA 'Bonehead', Chris & Tony Griffiths from Liverpool band 'The Real People', Debbie Ellis who back in 1993 shared a practice room with Oasis, and broadcaster Terry Christian.

Would you ******* believe it? A council has ******* banned swearing in public. The council in question is Salford which has used a Public Space Protection Order to tackle anti-social behaviour in the Salford Quays area which includes Media City, home to the BBC, which might be just a coincidence. Part of the order says it will be deemed a criminal offence if anyone is caught 'using foul and abusive language'. Public Space Protection Orders, or PSPOs, are similar to ASBO's (anti-social behaviour orders), and allow for broad powers to criminalise behaviour that is not normally criminal. PSPOs are geographically defined, making predefined activities within a mapped area prosecutable. Since they came into existence in 2014 many councils have embraced their new powers enthusiastically, with various PSPO's making, or attempting to make, it a criminal offence to sleep rough, drive a loud car and walk a dog without a lead. It seems that control, or regulation, of public space is becoming more common. In the last month alone a council in Wales has banned smoking on a public beach, the London Underground is considering stopping people walking up escalators and a well known store asked a customer to leave because her toddler was having a tantrum. Are regulations to tackle public nuisance a commendable attempt to protect us or an oppressive enforcement of social conformity targeting public activities that are merely unusual or unpopular? This tension between individualism and the common good is an issue which bedevils so many aspects of contemporary society. If it is true that inconsiderate behaviour is increasing in our society, how should we deal with it? How do we balance our moral obligation to the rest of society with our desire to do what we **** well please? Tough Talk With Tony Gambone with his guest Bradley Johnson & Terry Christian: Bradley Johnson  - Our client is book author, Christian music recording artist, business owner, and bible teacher. Bradley "BJ Ministries" Johnson is a true believer in the power of Christ to heal every place that life has broken. He and his wife teach this principle weekly at their church Transformation Temple International; a non-denominational progressive church where you will find everyone in T-Shirts and jeans worshipping God both in their seats and on their face. Bradley is an accomplished singer/songwriter who released a national EP entitled Never Give Up under his stage name BJ Ministries in December to critical acclaim because of the self titled first single and video.  Terry Christian - He talks about getting injured, being unable to walk for 18 months, requiring back surgery. Then came bladder cancer and his doctors said his cancer was the worst they've seen and would kill him within 5 years. Terry believed, in God's healing power of prayer and fasting. Two years later his doctors pronounced him cancer free and released him. He also tells the story behind his book ‘What Did Jesus Say'. The day he began the final editing his father had a heart attack and died. His mother died soon after. It would be 10 years before his book was finally in print as he experienced these Job-like difficulties

I watched Terry Christian on a chat show recently…I LOVE this fella…he says it like it is…he said the public should be allowed into Parliament to ask questions and the MPs should be put on lie detectors. He totally shares my views about the lying,thieving,selfish shower of public schoolboys who supposedly run the country…and have you seen Miliband lately?...he’s had a major make-over…hair,teeth,the lot…he looks even more slimy and slithery than he was before….and Cameron with his botoxed forehead and Eric Pickles looking like he needs a fork sticking in him to see if he’s cooked…it’s a freak show. I also watched an interview with Tony Blackburn who has been around for 50 years…what a great bloke…he’s on 7 radio stations he was saying and deservedly so…should be knighted. Here we go again…it those “scientists” again….these “experts” have come up with a brilliant discovery….last year we had to eat 7 portions of fruit a day….but that’s all wrong!!!...these experts have decided that any more the 5 portions a day does NOT increase your life expectancy…AND what’s more…if you drink heavily in mid life it could affect your memory in later life…hmm….I wonder how much these people get paid for this drivel….oh yes and you only need 5 minutes exercise a day….I assume that includes steering clear of the pies. I was very very upset to hear that British Gas had suffered a drop in profits because of the hot weather…and one of the other energy companies are also whining that their profits have also dropped to just OVER A BILLION!!!....I’ll be losing sleep over this….all this together with the banks ripping everyone off it’s all good stuff…the latest garbage is that the ridiculous bonuses they paid out to their top men for losing all that money will have to be returned…OH SURE…I can see THAT happening…it’s a joke. The problem with the inhabitants of this country is most of them need to get a life….they love to grovel and courtesy to those “above” them….personally if His Royal Highness Prince Philip asked me to get him a glass of champagne I’d tell him to get it himself…it’s that word “Highness” that gets me…for goodness sake….my band used to play for a local member of the royalty (mentioning no names) and I was chatting to his gardner/butler who was so proud to have served his lordship for nigh on 30 years…and his father before him…I thought wow two generations of doormats. And THAT my friend is the problem. Track 9 on my CD takes those of a certain age right back to their youth….I tried to make it in a “street corner” style…so it should bring back a few memories.
