As a parent, you want your child to eat healthy food that will help them grow and develop properly. However, it can be a real challenge when your child protests against healthy food. To get your child to eat healthy, it's essential to make food fun, interesting, and appealing to them. You can involve them in meal planning, grocery shopping, and even preparing the meals. By doing so, your child will feel included in the decision-making process, and it'll help them develop a sense of responsibility for their health. Additionally, you can try incorporating healthy foods into their favorite dishes so that they won't even realize they're eating healthy. Finally, keep in mind the importance of modeling healthy eating habits yourself. Children are more likely to imitate their parents, so make sure you're eating healthy foods too. With patience, consistency, and creativity, you can encourage your child to eat healthy and develop lifelong healthy eating habits. Parenting can be a challenging job, and it becomes even more demanding when it comes to raising children with special needs. Children with special needs often face unique challenges that require extra attention and support. They require a different approach to parenting that addresses their specific needs. Naked parenting is a unique quality that can benefit children with special needs. It refers to a parenting style that emphasizes honesty, vulnerability, and genuine communication between parents and children. In this essay, I will discuss how naked parenting can improve parent-child relationships and help children with special needs. Naked parenting is a parenting style that encourages parents to be honest and transparent with their children. It encourages parents to be vulnerable and open about their feelings, thoughts, and experiences. It involves parents setting boundaries, being assertive, and also being willing to apologize when they make mistakes. This parenting technique can be especially helpful for children with special needs as it can build stronger connections between parents and children. It creates a safe space for children to be themselves, be heard, understood and feel validated. Are you still in shock that you are a parent of a special needs child? Educators play a critical role in advocating for children with autism. Here are some ways educators can fulfill their role: Early identification: Educators are often the first ones to notice signs of autism in children. They can use their expertise to identify symptoms and signals of autism and refer the child for an evaluation. Inclusive classrooms: Educators can create inclusive classrooms where children with autism are not segregated or isolated. Such classrooms should offer individualized instruction and support to all students, including those with autism. Individualized Education Plans (IEPs): IEPs are legal documents that outline a child's educational goals and accommodations. Educators can advocate for IEPs that meet the unique needs of children with autism. Family involvement: Educators can work with families to help them understand and advocate for their children. Family involvement is an essential factor in the success of children with autism. Access to resources: Educators can connect families to resources and services that can support children with autism, such as speech therapy, occupational therapy, and counseling. In summary, the role of educators in advocating for children with autism is to identify, understand and support their unique needs, provide inclusive educational experiences, and collaborate with families to support the children's growth and development. Parenting is a challenging role that requires a great deal of patience, perseverance, and love. Parenting a special needs child, however, presents a unique set of challenges that many parents struggle to overcome. Special needs children require additional care and support to help them thrive and reach their full potential, which can take an immense toll on their parents. In this essay, we will explore the various struggles that parents face in raising a special needs child and the ways in which they can be supported. One of the most significant struggles that parents of special needs children face is the emotional toll that it can take on them. Many parents feel overwhelmed, stressed, and anxious about their child's condition, and they may struggle to cope with the daily challenges that come with caring for a special needs child. It can be challenging to navigate the medical and education systems, to find the right treatments and therapies, and to manage the financial burden that often comes with providing extra care and support. There are also practical challenges that must be addressed in raising a special needs child. Parents must often adjust their work schedules, find appropriate childcare, attend therapy sessions and medical appointments, and provide extra support and guidance with daily activities such as feeding and bathing. These challenges can make it difficult for parents to juggle their caregiving responsibilities with other responsibilities. Despite these challenges, there are many ways in which parents of special needs children can be supported. First and foremost, it is essential that parents have access to appropriate medical and educational resources. This may include finding a knowledgeable physician who specializes in their child's condition, working with a team of therapists and educators, and accessing financial assistance programs. It is also important that parents have a supportive network of family and friends who can offer emotional and practical support. Raising a special needs child poses significant challenges for parents. It requires a greater level of care, patience, and support than raising a typical child, and it can take a considerable emotional, financial, and practical toll on parents. However, with proper resources, support, and advocacy, parents of special needs children can overcome these challenges and provide their children with the love, care, and support they deserve. The term "pillar of parenting" refers to a fundamental principle or value that serves as a foundation for effective parenting. When it comes to children with special needs, there are several pillars of parenting that are particularly important. These may include: 1. Advocacy: Parents of children with special needs must be strong advocates for their kids, ensuring that they receive the support and services they need to succeed. 2. Flexibility: Raising a child with special needs can be unpredictable, so parents must be willing to adapt and adjust their parenting strategies as needed. 3. Patience: Many children with special needs require extra time and attention from their parents, so patience is essential for building strong relationships and providing effective support. 4. Empathy: Understanding and respecting your child's unique challenges and experiences is important for building trust and promoting positive outcomes. 5. Collaboration: Parents should work closely with educators, healthcare providers, and other professionals to create a supportive network around their child and ensure that all of their needs are being met. Together, these pillars of parenting can help parents of children with special needs navigate the challenges and joys of raising a child with unique needs and abilities. *** Do you still feel surreal as parents of kids with special needs? In today's episode, you will meet Nathalie. Her child was diagnosed on autism spectrum at the age of 2. As all other parents, it was something she and her husband were least expecting. They do not have clue what is autism nor how to support their son. She wasn't coping well in the beginning and battled with feelings of shame and blame for too long. She drowned her sorrow with negative self-talk and alcohol to numb the pain. Today, she talks about how our light as parents shines the path for our kids with special needs. *** Do you still feel surreal as parents of kids with special needs? "We're a functioning dysfunctional family of 6. My stepson is 7 and potentially on the spectrum, but hasn't been tested. He lives with us. He has severe behavioral and emotional issues(he was with his mother but she couldn't handle him and basically was like, I'm done you keep him) while his sister, my stepdaughter, who is 5, lives with her mother and we see her whenever mom allows it. I spend most of my days with him going to therapy or playgroups so he can socialize or do therapy at home. Heather Stone founded Stone Insurance in 2003, delivering insurance options that are tailored to each individual's needs. That same spirit of personalized care led to her becoming a special needs advocate and establishing Invisible Parent as a valued resource. Heather's passion for making health insurance both simple and understandable for all was ignited when her disabled son developed health problems at a young age. That drove her to focus on finding affordable health care solutions for all, whether through private insurers or public options such as Medicare and the Health Insurance Marketplace. "When my son Noah was first diagnosed as a child with a disability, the daily stress began. Over the next 20 years, I'd lay in bed wondering how I would fund a child with a lifelong disability. Questions without answers overwhelmed me. Do I save for his retirement or mine? Am I getting the best medical care for him? Would he ever drive, find love, make friends, or find a sense of independence? Why is it so hard to get help? What happens to him when I die? All too often, parents and caregivers are consumed with worry. As Noah transitioned into an adult, I wished I had worried less and enjoyed the journey more. With the proper support and the ability to let go of fear, Noah now lives his life to the fullest potential. Hope is at the center of our journey. My hope is that you will find it on yours." "I would like to discuss how this alternative way of dealing with my children saved my marriage and saved my relationship with my kids. The success is what made me passionate to help other moms and caregivers. I felt very alone and full of shame because of the way my kids were/are and I want to help other Moms to know they are not alone and it's not their fault." My name is Kim, I'm a wife and a mom of 3. My oldest son is an overachiever kid and easygoing, he made me believe I was a pretty perfect Mom and then I had baby #2! My middle son is on the autism spectrum and my youngest, a girl, we adopted from Hungary. She has been diagnosed with Fetal Alcohol Syndrome Disorder. From the time my middle child was 14 months old, he has had severe and challenging behaviors. We found out quickly the traditional way of parenting only made things worse for him. At about age 9, we started trying an alternative way, a collaborative method and it worked so well, I have written my own curriculum and am now passionate to support and coach other moms who need help as I did. My kids are 18, 19, and 23 currently. Are you still in shock that you are a parent of a special needs child?
