In the first installment of a new solo series, Jay Doran steps away from interviews and into something far more vulnerable: an unfiltered exploration of the thoughts occupying his mind when no one else is in the room. What begins as a reflection on the internal battle between good and evil quickly evolves into a philosophical journey through leadership, capitalism, influence, identity, social media, homelessness, mentorship, success, and truth itself. Along the way, Jay wrestles with a question that many consume content but few stop to ask:What is the difference between the person asking for money on the street and the person asking for your attention online? This episode is not a polished lecture. It is a live thought experiment.Jay explores:Why we idolize certain voices while ignoring othersThe hidden incentives that shape what we say and what we don'tHow success can distance us from truthThe relationship between power, responsibility, and accountabilityWhy compassion may be the foundation of moralityThe danger of worshiping people at the top while dismissing those at the bottomHow leadership eventually shows up on the balance sheetThe tension between ego and humilityWhy mentorship, learning, and personal growth never truly endWhat it means to pursue truth when the outcomes are uncertainAt its core, this episode is a challenge to examine how we relate to people, ideas, influence, and ourselves. It is an invitation to question assumptions, confront contradictions, and consider whether the way we treat those with the least may reveal more about us than the way we admire those with the most. Raw, philosophical, provocative, and deeply personal, this conversation marks the beginning of a new chapter for the Culture Matters Podcast—one where Jay opens the door to the questions he is actively wrestling with in real time.Because sometimes the most important conversations don't start with answers. They start with a question.
Send us Fan MailYour wearable has been tracking something for months that you've never looked at closely. And it may be the most honest thing your body has ever told you.Heart rate variability — HRV — isn't your heart rate. It's the variation between beats. And that distinction reveals something your stress levels, your sleep score, and your symptoms can only hint at: whether your nervous system is actually recovering. In Part 2 of the Neurowellness Series, we go deeper into what HRV is, what it really measures, and why it changes everything you understand about exhaustion, burnout, and recovery. In this episode, you'll discover:What HRV actually is — and why it's not the same as your heart rateWhy your nervous system can be stuck in fight-or-flight even when life looks fine from the outsideThree real patient stories — and what their HRV data revealed that symptoms alone couldn'tHow to start measuring your own HRV, from consumer wearables to clinical-grade toolsWhat actually moves the needle — and why your baseline isn't fixedIf you've ever felt like the data you're collecting isn't telling you the full story, this episode fills in the missing piece."Your nervous system's flexibility isn't measured in standard bloodwork. Why Eating More Is the Secret to Losing Fat (And Why It Feels Wrong at First)If you've been eating less, training harder, and still not seeing results this episode is for you.The truth is, chronic under-eating slows your metabolism, disrupts your hormones, and actually makes fat loss harder over time. And for most women, eating MORE is the missing piece...but getting there isn't easy.In this episode we'll cover:Why your body fights back when you try to increase calories (and what that actually looks like)What the scale doing when you first eat more and what it really meansThe signs that the process IS working, even when it feels like it isn'tHow to increase calories strategically without gaining unwanted fatWhy protein is your best friend through this entire processThe step-by-step approach to reverse dieting and retraining your metabolismIf you're stuck in the cycle of losing weight only to regain it, feeling softer despite eating less, or watching your energy and sleep suffer your body is telling you something. What if the missing piece in your menopause journey isn't hormones, but your nervous system? I'm Dr. Betty Murray, and in this episode, I sit down with Dr. Patrick Porter, founder and inventor of of BrainTap technology, a revolutionary light, sound, and vibration system that uses brain wave entrainment to flip the switch on sympathetic syndrome (chronic fight-or-flight), restore sleep, build stress resilience, and rewire neural pathways in just 20-30 minutes a day. Dr. Porter has been pioneering neuroplasticity technology since 1986, starting with the first personal light and sound machine for pain clinics. You'll Discover: ● Why our ancient brains weren't designed for modern life ● Why modern brains operate on only one gear (stress, frustration, anxiety) when we need multiple gears like a car, and how BrainTap uses light (810-850 nanometer), sound (beat frequencies), and vibration to regulate five primary brain wave networks (alpha, beta, theta, delta, gamma) like switching Wi-Fi networks ● The four T's destroying biological systems: Thoughts, Traumas, Toxins, and Technology (the new fourth T) ● How brain voltage drops from 18.1 volts at birth to 10.1 volts by age 16-17, creating resistance where life becomes an energy equation that starts in brain, moves down spine, out to limbs ● Why neural pruning accelerates in menopause due to estrogen loss affecting mitochondria and the cannabinoid system. ● Why affirmations fail: brain doesn't respond to false statements of fact ● Why drinking coffee first thing in morning is worst thing for biological system} ● The three critical BrainTap times: morning, afternoon, sleep preparation This episode is for women struggling with sleep, chronic stress, brain fog, or feeling stuck in fight-or-flight mode despite doing "all the right things" with diet and hormones. The Real Question:Why do some people transform while others stay stuck no matter how many programs they join? The Answer:They stay when their ego tells them to run. What This Episode Reveals:Why your first instinct when transformation starts is to find fault with the containerWhat happens when you stop performing the work and start actually doing itThe moment you realize the price was never about money, it was about self worthHow scarcity shows up everywhere you refuse to receiveWhy comparing yourself to others is just avoiding your own powerWhat becomes possible when you finally ask for what you needYou'll Recognize Yourself If:You always keep one foot out the doorYou deflect compliments automaticallyYou're exhausted from doing it alone but won't ask for helpYou can see the vision but something always stops you before you claim itYou've been settling for fine when your soul is screaming for aliveWhat You'll Learn:Why resistance is information, not a stop signThe exact moment most people quit and what happens if you don'tHow to tell your channel from your fearWhat it takes to move from healing loop to healed masteryWhy wobbles are where real transformation happensLinks

A tried and true under fulfilled overachiever (who this book was made for), I moved towards anything and everything that looked good on paper. Many of us stay there — both out of necessity (I mean, we have to earn an income), but also because we get really stuck. We don't know where else to turn. We're encouraged to "find our passion," or consider what we really want to do, but that tends to get us nowhere.Today's guest is a beloved return one, Megan Hellerer, because her new amazing book (have read it, can vouch) is out and I couldn't be more excited. And I'm giving away two copies to listeners, give a listen to learn how you can access! In today's episode we're digging into:The power of following our curiosity and why most of us don'tHow when we stop trying to control and predict the future — new opportunities emergeHow success is about finding what's true for you, versus what's "right"How to move towards what's "light and right," what makes you feel warm and like yourself, versus cold and hard.Buy Megan's BookVisit Her WebsiteWork with me PrivatelyConnect on InstagramWebsitePodcast Production by James Jorge

Authors around the world are trying to reduce their reliance on Amazon. However, most of us still use and like Amazon. In fact, many authors earn most of their money from Amazon. But any company with a 90% market share can't be fully trusted. One way indie authors can reduce their reliance on Amazon is by selling directly from their own author websites. Selling directly provides protection from the changes at an international company. It allows you to retain more money, control, and flexibility over pricing, bundling, and so much more.In this week's episode, you'll learn about a new service called Bookvault that can print your special edition hardback, help you sell directly to readers, and take care of order fulfillment. You'll learnWhich specialty features Bookvault offers that KDP and Ingram don'tHow to sell directly to your readers (and keep more profit!)How Bookvault can help with order fulfillmentHow you can get a free upload from BookvaultListen in or check out the blog post version to find out how you can print high-quality hardbacks, outsource fulfillment, and sell directly from your author website, all without using Amazon. You can become a patron at NovelMarketing.com/patron. Ok folks, in a time when we are encouraged to (and often do so) give our power over to the educators, the doctors, the 'scientists' and the lawyers because we think we aren't qualified, this interview is timely and very important. How many of you know of people who have spent 10's, maybe 100's of thousands of dollars on lawyer fees with no resolution and only more headaches? Why are so many lawyers so willing to take their clients' money without providing them with full remedy? It's time to take it ALL back... our parenting, the education of our children, our health and also our LEGAL matters! It's not as hard as you think, and Dr. Graves wants to teach you just how easy it is. He is tired of seeing innocent, good people getting screwed by the system.Dr. Graves, lawyer and former teacher, has always had a strong sense of justice and caught on very early in his career as a lawyer that there are some very basics tenets of law and justice, which led to an excellent track record for successful resolution for his clients.Dr. Graves has a course, at a very reasonable price that he offers so you too can be successful in court with confidence. His ultimate goal is to get this information to the children so that they can grow up understand the basics of the system to empower their lives and to avoid unnecessary harm in the court system in their adults lives. He's got a lot to share, and it's accessible to everyone! In this interview Dr. Graves shares with us:His background and how his late entry into law school came aboutHow all case law is simply based on storiesHow litigation is really not rocket science and how it has basic rules that anyone can learnHow you can learn the basic rules of law through is his concise courseWhy we, the people, need to take control of the judiciaryHow learning the key elements of any particular case is all you need to be successful in courtHow the Dean of the largest law school in Florida has stated that legal education is failing in the USHow Dr. Graves's unique earlier years led to his strong sense of justice and how he has always been a campaigner for the innocentThe fact that waiting for people in high places to do the right thing is an act of futilityWhy Dr. Graves looks to pre-WWI books for his legal sourcesWhy the primary principles of American justice are worth fighting for, yet most people, and even lawyers, don't know what they areIs it ever too late for recourse if a lawyer did not do his job effectively while defending you?How lawyers often don't do their jobs out of fear of offending the judgeThe fact that what he teaches in his course is not taught in law schoolWhat contempt of court is, and what it isn'tHow the law schools are no longer teaching primary principlesHow it is up to the people to learn these principlesHow to access his course (we'd appreciate if you used our affiliate link!) and leave a legacy for future generations with this basic yet profound knowledgeand more!If you know of anyone that is in a legal battle, or is about to enter the courts, then they need to know this information! Please pass this on so that more of us can gain greater control of our lives. It's time we keep our money in our pockets and avoid the opportunistic litigators who simply escalate the controversy to keep themselves on your payroll.Check out my store page for discounts on various products at: https://www.sovereigncollective.org/shop/Buy Dr. Graves's Course:If you like what you heard here then please share! In my ignorance, when Felicity suggested this topic I thought 'that'll be interesting, but I wonder how much being diabetic affects identity.' As a result of this conversation, I am humbled and now fully educated as to the extent of monitoring, tweaking and managing this condition requires, and also the effect on Felicity's view of herself as a professional. At one point, in the interests of being human and illustrating that it's okay to have needs as a clinician, Felicity goes off to inject herself with insulin, and I have a wee!

Knowing how to get the crud out of your body is a big deal these days; and not only that, it will make you more confident and less concerned about all the poisons around you when you are equipped to deal with them.Don't get me wrong, I'd prefer to live in a more pristine world and not focus on toxins and poisons, but let's face it...they're coming at us from the water, the skies, the soil, the airwaves...it's pretty hard to find anything truly pristine these days.So having the knowledge and knowing how to apply that knowledge is more critical than ever. This applies across many areas, but today we are talking detoxification, and more specifically, coffee enemas. Now before you shut down and cringe away the idea of putting coffee up your bum, let it be known that this is nothing new and has in fact been used for a very long time for pain, for detoxification, for cancer and more.My guest today is Marion Gentry, a holistic health practitioner who has been touting the benefits of coffee enemas for almost 20 years. Prior to her years as a holistic practitioner, she had a whole lifetime of health problems, including extreme constipation, which was relieved by her coffee enema routine.Marion was trained at the Gerson Institute, and along with coffee enema education, she provide many services and products at her site https://www.directionwithpurpose.com.I hope this interview inspires many who have been sitting on the fence regarding these special coffee breaks to finally get down on that floor and do their first coffee enema. In this edition of The Way Out I'm ecstatic to bring you my interview with Recovery Coach, Recovery Podcaster, and person in long term Recovery Matt Gardiner. Matt hosts the Beyond Recovery Podcast and it was a true honor to share my journey to and through recovery to this point on his podcast recently, so check that out if you are so inclined and to that end, I've included a handy link to that episode in the show notes. Every once in a great while, you meet someone where everything just seems to click, and this is precisely what happened with Matt and I right off the bat - we quickly hit it off and it truly felt as we were old friends. We found we have so much in common, from our mutual love of great 90's music like Nirvana, to playing guitar and songwriting, and from being bullied in adolescence to having a close friend in Recovery provide that essential helping hand to get into and launch ourselves into recovery. Throw in each of us having multiple attempts at recovery prior to our most recent and with any luck our last and both of us being Recovery Coaches, Recovery Podcasters and people in long term recovery we are indeed brothers from other mothers and our ensuing conversation is absolutely jam packed with spiritual and recovery truth as well as Matt's journey to and through Recovery to this point so listen up.
