Mickey 17 The novel this film was based on; Mickey 7 was being written by Edward Ashton, at almost exactly same time as the film back in 2021. Director Bong Joon Ho saw an opportunity and ran with it to create something pertinent, meaningful and as always, very weird... What remains then to answer is why the film version has solidly 10 more Mickeys!? Why do we need SO many more Mickeys? Robert Pattinson is Mickey 1-17 and in fact Mickey 18 as well... and his life...lives are the subject of this funny, poignant and occasionally silly film Science Fiction film. Alien: Romulus We are now 9 films deep into the Alien cinematic franchise (if you include the AVP films, which we do) and we are really getting to the point where marrying the lore of the early films to the later ones has become a full time job. Well, let us introduce you to Alien: Romulus, the hardest worker in that full time job... Who along with their spiritual sibling, the game Alien: Isolation, and Alien: Covenant they are the heavy lifters of the Alien Lore wheelbarrow. Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes Once more we return to a post apocalyptic landscape filled with danger and uncertainty, though this time its not irradiated and the verdant green jungles are spilling over with life! We are returning to the Planet of the Apes for the beginning of possibly a whole new trilogy, set hundreds of years after the death of Caesar (Andy Serkis), this new story follows Noa (Owen Teague) a young Ape whose journey will bring him in contact with a speaking human, Raka; a charming Orangutan (Peter Macon) and Proximus Caesar (Kevin Durand) a Royal Bonobo with delusions of grandeur. There's no rubber masks here, these Apes are 100% CGI and ready to kick ass. Quinny is taking the role of the benevolent but bald Orangutan, Dion will be playing the Silverback Western lowland Gorilla, while Peta and Jill are probably the two well dressed human women forming complete sentences over in the corner. Several generations in the future following Caesar's reign, apes are now the dominant species and live harmoniously while humans have been reduced to living in the shadows. As a new tyrannical ape leader builds his empire, one young ape undertakes a harrowing journey that will cause him to question all that he has known about the past and to make choices that will define a future for apes and humans alike.
