Welcome to today's show! WHAT WE'LL LEARN: John described his deepest roots led him to Syracuse New York...from his upbringing, to his professional development, to his professional career and to his sobriety. John's sobriety journey is intertwined with a dual diagnosis with Mental Health issues. How he needs to maintain his mental health so that he does not drink again and vice versa. John's first sponsor made him take his mental health seriously. How he balanced advocacy work with personal recovery-especially in early recovery. Where John was at the beginning of his recovery to where he is today-a person recovering out loud while respecting the traditions that people care about. When in conversation with a student in Rams in Recovery, the student asked John how it is that he claims to be in recovery if all he's doing is advocacy (e.g. the coffee bike). This helped John become more connected with the recovery community. And helped him to build an “underground network” of people all over the world which he taps into to help others. How these projects (e.g. Coffee Bike, Narcan Bike) served as John's recovery program for a long time. And how the advocacy piece changes with each project. Now, the Narcan Bike, beyond the design, is largely all about advocacy. Key Quotes: “I tried to do it on my own with my will power alone and the group of people in that room (recovery room) knew what I was going through and had been where I was...it was one of my only options. It's the one thing I could connect to and participate in that wasn't making things worse.” “I've gone from an artist who's an activist to an activist who's an artist.” RESOURCES MENTIONED A.I.R. In This Episode: John is still in Denver and he is “living his dreams.” We have many exciting things on the way here at Pod Help The Outcasts, all of which will be revealed very soon. Very soon. Two more episodes on the season, but we are moving along in a wonderful way. WE WANT YOUR DMs. We want to hear your comments about all we do. Sooooooooooo, we are having a bit of mic drama. We are overcoming it, because that’s what we do, but we still have a bone to pick with a few companies who shall not be named; well they won’t be named on the air (DEVIL EMOJI). Fall is coming, folks. Justin is pissy off and on because the summer is ending and that makes him irritable. John flat out calls me out for not exercising. Well played. Mr. Campione. In gay culture, we call that a read. And I was read. In the larger lens, we are trying to address the subject of how to stay happy and functioning well during this seasonal transition as the pandemic lingers on in NYC. Did I mention John is happy because he is still in Denver? I think his exact words were “I breathe better here”? Is he ever coming back? Not unless we figure out some more outdoor-sy things for him to do here this fall. WEAR A MASK AT YOUR GYM, PEOPLE! C’MON. YOU HAVE TO DO IT. Did Justin go back to the gym in NYC.......What do you think? John isn’t coming back. We all know it. (Just kidding, he comes back in the middle of the episode). On this note, we have a new business to pump out in Wheat Ridge, Colorado. Where John just came from. Wheat Ridge, CO is west of Denver, like a ‘burb. John is obsessed. It’s called Colorado Plus. Bar. Restaurant. Mini-Brewery. All Colorado beers. Lovely service. Best Wings (had John at hello). Locally sourced meat. Cue the animal sounds. Grow their own organic veggies. You can taste the difference. YES. YESSSSSSSSSSSS. JINGLE FOR YOU, COLORADO PLUS! Good find, Johnny. Their motto: “If you create an environment where passion and hard work is nourished and encouraged, success with follow.” Life lessons, my dudes. Life. Lessons. Intention is what we could all stand to reconnect with all the time. So....this week’s business: Colorado Plus. Brewery. Tap House. Restaurant. The goal of Park Ranger John is to share the things I learned while working and living in parks. I want our readers to have the best experiences possible in the parks they visit. Follow John on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. TIPS FOR VISITING NATIONAL PARKS As the National parks start to open you may see different rules and regulations for each park depending on the crowds that they are getting. Some parks may only be available for scheduled visits rather than just showing up. Crowd control has always been a top priority for National Parks and you will see that this is still a fact as the parks are slowly re-opening. Make sure that you are contacting the right people to find out what each park is offering as they start to open up again, whether it is a visitors center or the local Park Rangers. Facebook and Twitter have been a really up to date source of information for what is going on for each of the parks. The Junior Ranger Programs are a really great source of learning for a bunch of different age groups. The way the program works is that you would find a ranger at a visitors center or contact station and ask about the program. They will give you a booklet and throughout the day you will go through the visitors center and learn some of the history of the park. Then you will go out into the park and do some activities. Once you do the worksheets in the booklet you will take it into the ranger and take a pledge and receive a Junior Ranger Badge. This is not something that you can do in five minutes. You will need to make sure that you are getting the booklet as soon as you get there if this is something that you want to do for your visit. You can also earn a Junior Ranger Badge virtually. Different parks are offering some other virtual learning tools right now that kids can take advantage of. Just visit John’s site for information on the Junior Ranger Programs so that you can learn at home. You can look up National Park webcams and just look around at different parks at home. The average National Park visits is about 3 - 4 hours, usually between the hours of 9am and 4pm. So if you want to visit at a less busy time you should keep that in mind when planning your visit. The first couple weeks of June or the very end of August also tend to be less crowded due to school openings and closings. Unfortunately that won't necessarily be the case for this year! FAVORITE TRAVEL GEAR John loves his Zamberlan boots because if his feet aren't happy he is not happy! He also likes to wear layers because it is easy to dress up or down, and clothes that dry quickly. This interview is also a video interview https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EqOeTqCULT8&t=539s ***** Warning there is some Explicit Language in this Episode ****** John McAfee is the world renowned software security pioneer who also founded McAfee Associates. His wealth peaked in 2007 at about a $100 million. After leaving McAfee Associates, John also founded companies like Tribal Voice, QuorumEx and Future Tense Central. As we can see it seems that he learned a thing or two about diversifying his investments. He has been involved in leadership positions in the companies Everykey, MGT Capital Investments and Luxcore. After he took a beating in the financial crisis of 2007–2008 McAfee liquidated his assets and moved his operation to Belize. Where John surrounded himself with a harem of young women. Life in Belize became very controversial to say the least before he would flee the country. His political leanings are libertarian, he has advocated the decriminalization of cannabis and also bringing an end to the war on drugs. McAfee's also believes in having non-interventionism in foreign policy. As well as having a free market economy that does not redistribute wealth, but that also upholds free trade. John first announced that he would seek out the office of President of the United States in the 2016 presidential election. He consistently polled among the top three presidential candidates for the libertarian party. In the end he would lose out to his fellow rivals Gary Johnson and former Unstructured guest Austin Petersen McAfee also later got involved with a mysterious tech company called MGT Technologies. The company invested in games, cybersecurity, but was also a small drugmaker. He would leave and start becoming a huge proponent of Bitcoin. He has also made some of the most bullish claims to date. This includes stating that Bitcoin will hit $1,000,000 by 2020. And if not – he will eat his di**. It's not all smooth sailing for McAfee as he has now being sought by US tax authorities since January 2012. he wrote in a July 19 tweet: John announced that he had fled the country and was “living in exile” on a boat. This was because of felony charges handed down by the Internal Revenue Service. “My crime is not filing tax returns – not a crime. The rest is propaganda by the U.S. government to silence me. My voice is the voice of dissent. If I am silenced, dissent itself will be next.” John's Twitter: https://twitter.com/officialmcafee And don’t forget to support the podcast by subscribing for free, reviewing, and sharing. Behold the Lamb of God We no longer need to live with shame and guilt. Transcript: Jesus is the greater and better passover lamb who carries the sin of God's people.Welcome to the Light of Christ weekly podcast. Light of Christ Anglican Church is located in Georgetown, Texas, at MLK and University Avenue. We are a modern expression of the ancient faith. You can learn more about us at lightofchristgeorgetown.org.Our sermon soundbite today comes from the Gospel of John, chapter one. Where John the Baptist seeing Jesus says, "Behold the lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world.” Jesus is the greater and better Passover lamb who carries the sins of God's people. Pay attention. He is the lamb of God, the Passover lamb. This is Passover language. John is absolutely clear. Who can carry your sin? Can you? Who will carry your sin? Jesus will carry your sin. He is the lamb. This refers to Jesus' humanity. Jesus is fully God and fully man, his humanity. He's the lamb. He's obedient. The perfect, spotless lamb without sin, and he is able as a human, fully as a human, to suffer and to die, to be sacrificed, to enter with his perfect humanity into the fray because he's one of us. He's able to experience death and sin and all of those consequences, all of those wages and weight of sin, he's able to experience on the cross. The full weight of it and through dying he's able to destroy the tyranny of death through his resurrection.Hebrews 2 says this. Exactly. “Since therefore, we share in flesh and blood. He himself likewise partook of the same things so that through death he might destroy the one who has the power of death, that is the devil and deliver all those who through fear of death were subject to lifelong slavery.” He took on humanity. He was the lamb, the lamb of God. Notice he's a lamb provided by God. This is Christ's divinity, fully God and fully man. No one takes Christ's life from him. He lays it down willingly and he is of the same heart and mind to the father. It's for God so loved, the Father so loved the world that he sent his Son. Notice what John 10:18 says. Jesus says, "No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have authority to lay it down and have authority to take it up again. This charge I have received from my Father.” It is God who provides the lamb. No, it's not us. And this is what makes the sacrifice of Jesus absolutely opposite of the pagan sacrifices. What were the pagan sacrifices about? You want something from the deity who is selfish and you want something because you're selfish. And so what you do is you basically bribe the deity. I am going to give you something of worth and the deity will like it. And so he'll give you what you want. That's how pagan sacrifices work. But this is nothing like that at all. This is a sacrifice of pure love. It's provided by God for your benefit, for our benefit. What is love?”Seeking the good of the other for their own sake.” Exactly, and that's what the sacrifice is. A sacrifice of pure love and what does this sacrifice do? Behold the lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world and this word takes away. It doesn't quite capture the Greek here. It could be translated carries. It has the sense, behold the lamb of God who will lift up and carry away the sin of the world. You see that? By God becoming a human, right? He's able to, like in the days of the Passover, he's able to insert himself. God inserts himself into our humanity so that he can be our passover, our covering. He places himself on that cross between the wages of your sin, the weight of your sin, and it's eternal consequences and you. So that you are saved. So that you do not have to bear the shame and guilt anymore. You can't! But God could. No human alone could do it but God did.Thank you for listening to the Light of Christ weekly podcast. Let us end our time together with a prayer from The Book of Common Prayer. You can find the collect for the Second Sunday of Epiphany on page 602. Almighty God, whose Son our Savior Jesus Christ is the light of the world: Grant that your people, illumined by your Word and Sacraments, may shine with the radiance of Christ’s glory, that he may be known, worshiped, and obeyed to the ends of the earth; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who with you and the Holy Spirit lives and reigns, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

Today, globalization, together with advances in communication and transport, has significantly increased the number of people with the desire and ability to move to other places. This new era has created challenges and opportunities for societies around the world. It has also served to underline the clear link between migration and development, as well as the opportunities it offers for co-development, that is, the joint improvement of economic and social conditions at both origin and destination. I typically use Google Maps. Now you may ask how can you use Google Maps without connectivity? You simply have to download the Aruba section from the map prior to losing connectivity. Once you do that, you have basic lead directions for a period of 30 or 90 days before you have to re-download the map. I use it all the time and it has never failed me. The house that was on fire was a vacant, dilapidated structure with a fire on the second floor. John was part of a crew that was looking for fire extension on the second floor of this large farm-style house. While on the second floor, John separated from his partner – by his estimates – approximately 20 feet or so, and entered a room where the floor was weakened – not from fire, but from rot. With no warning, John fell through the floor and was caught by his SCBA bottle. This resulted in a Mayday and John’s successful rescue. During this interview, John will share some valuable lessons learned, including: The importance of not being complacent and letting your guard down. Simply because you are in an environment that does not contain a lot of smoke and fire, doesn’t mean you are not in danger. John recalls hearing someone announce the structure was in poor condition and the floors had been compromised – yet he still fell through a weakened spot. At the time, the department did not have a mayday policy and firefighters were not trained to a standardized mayday procedure. Where John is from it is procedure for a Rapid Intervention Team is identified by the dispatcher at the start of the call. John does not recall a specific department or company being names RIT for this incident, even though there were over 40 firefighters on the scene.
