In Today's Uncertainty, We Need to Remember that God Wants to Walk with Us In All Our Life Situations, Both Good and Bad – Just Ask Him MESSAGE SUMMARY: “Lord is my helper and confident, why should I be afraid? What can man do to me?” For this confidence, you must know who Jesus is – both in your heart and in your mind. Jesus is the Son of God – God in the flesh. As Paul tells us in Philippians 4:4: “do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.". Therefore, You do not need to worry about troubling circumstances in your life because you know that He is with you; and He will guide you no matter how dark your life seems. Jesus is the light that shines in darkness. As Jesus tells you in Luke 12:4-5, that when you have anxiety and fear in your life, you must determine if this anxiety derivative of the right kind of fear: “I tell you, my friends, do not fear those who kill the body, and after that have nothing more that they can do. But I will warn you whom to fear: fear him who, after he has killed, has authority to cast into hell. Yes, I tell you, fear him!”. When you are faced with life's tragedies and the anxieties that result from just living your life, Jesus can turn those situations and your fears into ways and results that you cannot fathom, understand, or anticipate; but you can certainly appreciate. Why not give God a chance to walk with you in all your life situations -- good and bad? Ultimately, the Psalmist got it right in Psalm 23:4: “Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.". TODAY'S PRAYER: Lord, everything in me resists following you into the garden of Gethsemane to fall on my face to the ground before you. Grant me the courage to follow you all the way to the cross, whatever that might mean for my life. And then, by your grace, lead me to resurrection life and power. In Jesus' name, amen. Scazzero, Peter. Emotionally Healthy Spirituality Day by Day (p. 100). Zondervan. Kindle Edition. TODAY'S AFFIRMATION: Today, I affirm that because I am in Jesus Christ, I will trust in the Lord with all my heart. I will trust in the Lord with all of my heart and lean not on my own understanding. In all my ways I will seek to know Him, and He will make my pathways straight. From Proverbs 3:5f SCRIPTURE REFERENCE (ESV): Philippians 4:4-9; Mathew 6:25-34; Psalm 23:1-6; Psalms 22b:17-31. Dealing with Difficult Life Situations - Q&A With Nouman Ali Kh
The well-known Golden Rule can fall short when applied in end-of-life situations. A research article makes the case for The Platinum Rule. The Platinum Rule: A New Standard for Person-Centered Care, by Harvey Max Chochinov, OC, PhD, MD, FRCPC : https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC9145569/ “The Platinum Rule, which would have us consider—doing unto patients as they would want done unto themselves—offers a standard that is more likely to result in treatment decisions that are consistent with patients' personal needs and objectives.”Those of us who are not medical professionals have our own opportunities here. First, tell your family what you want! Second, if we know that we are likely to be in the position to make decisions for someone, we can encourage them to help us know what they want and not leave us guessing, imagining, and assuming. That position invites pressure, conflict, and guilt. Third, if we do find ourselves in the position of making a decision for a loved one, we need to remember to go for the platinum, not the gold. And if we haven't done our own advance planning and communicating, let's get going asap.Do you have comments or suggestions about a topic or guest? Hello everyone, welcome to Chit & Chat; Encouraging One Another Podcast, interviewing people from all over the world hearing their story and sharing encouragement and laughter all over the world. My guest today is Austin Hopkins is an independent singer-songwriter from the suburbs of Chicago. His distinctive voice gives him a unique mix between country twang and modern pop. Austin bases his music on real life situations so the listener can really relate to the lyrics. Austin has always loved music since he was a child, but didn't pick up a guitar until he was 23. A single dad at that time, trying to practice and raise his son, he found songwriting an outlet to everyday life and relationship stress. In 2009, Austin entered a contest hosted by a local radio station. To Austin's surprise, he was selected as one of the finalists. He performed his first original song “Beauty In The Breakdown”. Though he didn't move on to the next round, he used that experience to fuel him, and continued to song write and play at local shows. Austin's dream is to become a professional songwriter in Nashville. He hopes to achieve this goal by continuing to produce new music for all to hear. I am sharing 2 of his songs today and please check out his website @ www.austinhopkinsmusic.com Also am I am featuring music by two of my good friends. Kirstie Kraus- Just One More, She's thirsty for love and magic, for joy and sunshine. She's thirsty for compassion and authenticity. And more than anything, she's thirsty for anything that sets her soul on fire. Kirstie Kraus carries her thirst in her songwriting, in her live shows, and in her everyday connection with other kindred spirits. Her writing infuses her own transparent journey with others' experiences to create sustainable lyrics and catchy melodies. The result is a perfect blend of country, funk, blues, and rock because with Kirstie, there are no boundaries. There's only the process of “letting go” and letting the song tell you what it wants to be. Also featuring a very powerful song by Cory M. Coons, called Remember Me. For the past 30 years, Ottawa-based singer-songwriter Cory M Coons has been performing and recording his signature blend of rootsy rock. His brand of melodic, guitar-driven music and often introspective lyrics have brought favorable comparisons to icons like Bon Jovi, John Mellencamp, Tom Petty and others. Coons has amassed over 170K Spotify streams, and he has racked up both a Top 20 iTunes Canada single and a #2 international iTunes single. Every generation brings its own unique characteristics and contributions to society. Generation X, born between the mid-1960s and early 1980s, is often regarded as a generation that embodies qualities that we can all aspire to. In this article, we will explore why Generation X is considered remarkable, focusing on their individuality, resilience, and adaptability. By embracing the values and mindset of Generation X, we can learn valuable lessons that can shape us into better individuals and create a stronger society. Embracing Individuality: One of the defining traits of Generation X is their celebration of individuality and independence. Growing up in an era marked by social changes, economic uncertainty, and technological advancements, Generation X learned to be self-reliant and resourceful. They understand the importance of staying true to themselves and pursuing their own paths, irrespective of societal pressures. In a world that often favors conformity and collective thinking, we can draw inspiration from Generation X's commitment to individuality. By embracing our unique strengths, interests, and perspectives, we foster a diverse and inclusive society that values authenticity and allows everyone to contribute their distinct talents. Cultivating Resilience: Generation X faced numerous challenges, including economic recessions, rapid technological advancements, and shifting social dynamics. These experiences cultivated resilience and adaptability within the generation. They learned to navigate uncertainties, bounce back from setbacks, and persevere through difficult times. In a rapidly changing world, resilience is an essential quality to develop. By embracing the Generation X mindset of resilience, we can better navigate the complexities of life, respond to adversity with resilience, and proactively seek opportunities for growth and personal development. Balancing Work and Life: Generation X was the first generation to witness a significant shift in work dynamics, with an increasing number of dual-income households and the rise of the workaholic culture. However, they were also instrumental in redefining work-life balance, emphasizing the importance of quality time with family, self-care, and pursuing passions outside of work. In a society that often glorifies overwork and burnout, Generation X serves as a reminder that a balanced approach to life is essential for overall well-being. By prioritizing self-care, maintaining healthy boundaries, and creating time for personal fulfillment, we can lead more fulfilling lives and foster healthier relationships with ourselves and others Embracing Technology Mindfully: Generation X witnessed the advent of technology and the rise of the digital age. Unlike subsequent generations who grew up immersed in technology, Generation X experienced a transitional phase where they learned to embrace technology while still valuing face-to-face interactions and maintaining a healthy balance between the virtual and real world. In an era dominated by constant connectivity, Generation X's approach to technology offers valuable insights. By adopting a mindful approach to technology, we can harness its benefits while also prioritizing real-world connections, nurturing meaningful relationships, and preserving our mental well-being. While every generation has its unique strengths and contributions, Generation X stands out as a model for individuality, resilience, and work-life balance. Embracing the values and mindset of Generation X can guide us in becoming better individuals and fostering a more inclusive and adaptable society. By celebrating individuality, cultivating resilience, embracing work-life balance, and adopting a mindful approach to technology, we can learn from the lessons of Generation X and apply them in our own lives. Let us appreciate the valuable qualities of Generation X and draw inspiration from their experiences as we navigate the challenges and opportunities of the modern world. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/theyoungbloods/message Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/theyoungbloods/support

TODAY'S AFFIRMATION: Today, I affirm that because I am in Jesus Christ, I will not be ashamed of the Gospel. I will not be ashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ for it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes (including me). I've been a little inconsistent here over the last 4-6 weeks and that is simply because there has been SO much going on and the episodes I share tend to also be relevant to what's happening in our world in real time or that prompts something I think would be helpful, meaning I'm not really much ahead of when you're listening. That's probably bad business but it's also just the season of motherhood I'm in. Today, I wanted to share those life updates with you AND give you some bonus tips and strategies as you find yourself navigating some of the same (or similar) situations we have been experiencing over the last few weeks. Have you ever been in a crisis and wondered how to overcome or cope with the associated stress? Building resilience is an effective technique for overcoming adversity, coping with stressful situations, and leading a better quality of life. Difficult moments are likely to impair your health, mood, and appearance. Building resilience enables us to regain control and cope with stress, trauma, and turbulence during uncertainty. So, how does doing hard things increase our resilience? How Does Resilience Help in Adversity? While situations differ with individuals, resilient people tend to tolerate emotional distress resulting from difficult times. Such individuals tend to find better ways of bouncing back to normalcy. Building resilience is an ongoing process with no fixed strategy. Each person's journey is unique, and so is the time individuals take to attain resilience. Through resilience, we learn to cope with hard things, times, and experiences without numbing emotions with drugs and substance abuse, among other unhealthy means. Ways in “Which” Hard Things Enhance Our Resilience Are you wondering whether there is anything to gain in doing hard things? Hardships help us build resilience in the following ways. Learning to Accept the Truth Building resilience begins by first accepting that we are experiencing a crisis. Living in denial may prolong pain, grief, or sadness and delay healing. Concentrating on situations we cannot control can leave us drained, more anxious, and hopeless. Once we accept our circumstances and feelings and grieve our losses, we free ourselves to focus on what we can control. Reaching Out to Other People When we connect with others, especially family and friends, during adversity, we can boost our moods, relieve stress, and find something good in the change or hard things we are doing. Having a shoulder to lean on can help in being strengthened and build resilience in adversity. Being resilient enables us to prioritize relationships, avoid withdrawing in tough times, avoid toxic people, and create social networks. Embracing Self-care Routines Doing hard things can drain us physically and mentally or even lead to serious health, immunity, and digestive issues. Self-care is an essential part of building resilience and overcoming stressful situations. Some of the self-care activities to enhance our resilience include the following: Getting adequate sleep. Exercising regularly. Body-mind relaxation techniques. Healthy dieting. Developing stress level management skills. Discovering Our Purpose and Meaning in Life Situations and hardships should not define us as individuals. We can uphold our identity, prevent hard things from overwhelming us, and handle problems prospectively by focusing on things that instill purpose and meaning in our lives. Building resilience enables us to focus on things geared toward our satisfaction without being defined by circumstances or other people's opinions. Staying Motivated Throughout the Difficult Situation Persistence and endurance through hard times help in coping with adversity. Some ways to stay motivated and persevere through tough times include learning to be grateful, celebrating the little achievements, addressing problems one step at a time, and having a hopeful and positive mindset. While building resilience in hard times, it is fundamental to recognize our situations' uniqueness. Thus, we should be kind to ourselves to avoid being critics of our coping skills or blaming ourselves for every slip along the way to recovery. You may consult Dr. Jason Jones at our Chiropractic office at Elizabeth city, NC to learn more on how doing “hard” things increases our resilience.
“Life Situations” May Cause a Focus on Yourself; but a Prayer Focused on Yourself and Not Considering Others' Needs Constrains Your Prayer Relationship with God MESSAGE SUMMARY: When you are experiencing a "life situation" AND you stop just focusing on yourself and your situation, then you can enter prayerful communion with God. In your personal relationship with God and your communion with God, He will tell you how to pray for your "situation". As James tells us in James 1:5-6: “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him. But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind.". Pray always; be consistent in your prayers. Do not give up on God; do not doubt the power of your prayer; and pray in faith. TODAY'S PRAYER: Lord, I thank you that you are working even when I am sleeping. Today's guest is another Double Bear! John Dio is a product manager and business professional with experience helping scale venture-backed EV and ed-tech startups. At Haas, John has been part of the Consortium for Graduate Study of Management, The Graduate Assembly, Haas Consulting Club, and Q@Haas. John is originally from the Philippines. When he immigrated to the US, he faced plenty of challenges, including culture shock, bullying, and coping with being an undocumented student. It wasn't an easy journey, but he overcame them all.In this episode, John shared his early beginnings, experiences as an undocumented immigrant, and attending college and pursuing an MBA. He also talked about his career in recruitment and pivoting into product management post-MBA. Finally, he shared insights on a couple of things he is passionate about - childcare shortage and women's reproductive rights.Episode Quotes:On standing up to bullies"Every time they'd retort, I'd be like, so what? Whatever. And that took the power away from it. Once I didn't care, they no longer thought it was fun. If you take away the bully's power to affect you in that way, it's no longer fun for them."On pivoting into product management"Product management stood out to me because there is the aspect of delighting customers when solving their problems."His biggest takeaway at Haas"It's all about how you want to set your journey at Haas because you could do a lot of things and everything. However, it's really up to you to manage your time and what you want to get the most out of it. I wanted to work and apply what I'm learning in the startup setting and then build a community where I can focus on the few people, if not some people, that were going to add a lot of value to my Haas experience versus trying to meet everyone. And there has to be that intentionality that needs to be there to make it all work."Show Links:LinkedInQ@HaasSupport this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/onehaas/donations

In this episode I talk about Empathic Burnout and Empathy Overload, and the differences and similarities between them. Empathic burnout being when an energetically sensitive person has reached their limit of compassion and kindness, and starts getting overwhelmed and triggered, changing their energy from good to bad. Empathy overload is when we care so much about another person or their problems that we start taking it on as our own. How do we manage our emotions when we just start to care too much for something that really doesn't directly involve us? In the past couple of weeks Rebecca and I have been reeling from just too much stuff, too much nonsense, and too many bad things and negative feelings of life feeling unkind, unwinnable, and insurmountable, as a result my topics have been a little bit more irreverent and "attitudinal" than usual. But I wanted you guys to see that even empaths get upset from time to time, and that it's perfectly natural to allow yourself to get upset, to feel anger and frustration, and to vent about these things, as it's all a part of the natural process of dealing with grief and turmoil. But we must eventually turn things back around to arrive back in a good place energetically and emotionally once again. I'm not ashamed to show you guys when I'm feeling sadness, anxiety, frustration, impatience, or despair. Social pressure tries to force us to want to bottle all these things up, as to not cause a scene or have people judge us. But at the end of the day, it's much better to process these things head on, in a direct and candid way, than to let these things build up over time, turning you into a pressure cooker that's about to explode. I want you guys to know and see that I haven't lost my good nature, my kindness, my gentle heart, or my empathic sensibilities, but there will always be times when we get downright tired people and things, and are forced to take a stand. But eventually, once we've processed our anger, fear, frustration, and grief, we must compose ourself to arrive back in a place of balance, to recapture our joy and happiness, and get back to our usual kind and giving self. To recapture our energy of empowerment, joy, and calm.We can all go through these "negative" emotions, but we should never allow social pressure to feel guilt or shame about that, assuming we didn't hurt anyone. But afterwards, we must start the healing process, to get back to our kindness and compassion, before it callouses our heart for good. It's one thing to toughen up, it's quite another to become a lesser version of ourself, to let that big bad world our there change us and damage us to the point we lose something integral about ourselves. To become mean spirited and empty inside, all to protect our guarded and wounded heart. We must not lose ourselves just because the worlds is sometimes harsh and unkind. We must find ways to process our emotions, then allowing those emotions to inform our decision making, so that we can continue improving, to live an emotionally healthier life. To continue moving forward rather than get stuck or risk moving backwards and regressing, making our life less empowered and balanced. Support the show (https://www.patreon.com/chefbrycomedy)
