You are not alone.  Unfortunately, this is not uncommon for women. The problem is, our rage, our anger is both valid and necessary.  It sends us the message that something isn't okay and encourages us to take action to address it.   But most so-called “anger management” programs are ineffective. So in this episode, we dive into the problems people have with anger, why they're there, what anger really is and how it can help us, and I'll share my process to effectively work with your anger so it doesn't plague you or come out when you least expect it in an unproductive way. Like you're walking around with an internal siren that blares at every unfairness, every hypocrisy, every outright attack on basic human rights? If you're an ADHD woman, chances are you're nodding along right now. Justice sensitivity isn't just something we care about—it's wired into us. With Trump 2.0 looming large, the fear, the frustration, and the deep sense of this isn't okay are hitting hard. And let's be real—there are people who want us to stay frozen in that fear, because an overwhelmed brain isn't a brain that takes action. So in today's episode, we're going to talk about how to navigate this storm without burning out. Here's what we're diving into: Why ADHD brains tend to have an intense justice sensitivity (yes, there's science behind it!) How to process the big emotions without shutting down—or getting stuck in doomscrolling What effective action looks like so that you can protect your energy and make a difference By the end of this episode, you'll walk away with a plan: a way to move through the fear, channel that fire inside you, and take action in a way that actually works for your ADHD brain. How do we highly sensitive women navigate our big feelings after the election

Hi everyone,  The day following the election in the States, I connected with a lot of people - clients, friends, acquaintances and more - all of whom were women and some of whom are in the queer community.  I noticed that a lot of us were (maybe still are) rightfully feeling some big and heavy stuff. To meet the moment, in this episode we talk about how we highly sensitive women navigate our big feelings after the election. You may be wondering why someone whose focus is ADHD Women Entrepreneurs talking about this.  I go more into this more in the episode. For now, I'll say this: Whether with your business or something happening in the world, high sensitivity and the big feelings that tend to accompany them are both a gift (what probably makes you so good at what you do) and also can create challenges for you and your business so it is crucial to learn how to work with them. Additionally, much is uncertain in business, as is true right now following the election.  Being able to navigate uncertainty is an essential skill for entrepreneurs. So in this episode we'll explore the big feelings, holding space for them, as well as explore what to do to work with the feelings and the uncertainty. To be fair, this is probably not my most organized episode.  I recorded this on November 7th so am still working through my own stuff with thoughts swirling through my head (I seriously started over four times - though some of that was because my cat Eva was destroying my background screen). At any rate, my hope is that you feel supported by this episode with some clarity around what to do now AND that you'll extend me a little grace. While I didn't announce it in the episode, one of the things I notice in ADHD Women entrepreneurs that keeps them playing small is invisible ADHD obstacles - things like fear, doubt, overwhelm, feeling not good enough (or too much), and the like. If you've been struggling to really put yourself out there for your business, you may be experiencing some of these invisible ADHD obstacles. Why Pushing and Hustling is Destructive for ADHD Women Entrepreneurs

Hi everyone!  Welcome back to the Self-Loved Woman Podcast. Today, I'm diving into a topic that's close to my heart and probably yours too: the impact of hustle culture on ADHD women entrepreneurs. The Challenges of Hustle Culture We've all felt the pressure to constantly be "on," to always be striving for more. But for ADHD women, this relentless pursuit of success can be especially challenging. We're already juggling so much, and the added stress of hustle culture can take a toll on our mental and physical health. The Detriments of Chronic Stress Chronic stress can have a significant impact on our productivity and overall well-being. It can lead to burnout, overwhelm, and even health issues. For those of us with ADHD, the effects can be even more pronounced. The Importance of Taking Breaks You might be thinking, "But I don't have time for breaks!" Trust me, I've been there too. But taking breaks is actually essential for maintaining our productivity and reducing stress. When we give our nervous systems a chance to rest and recharge, we can focus better and be more effective in the long run. Types of Rest for Better Productivity There are many different ways to find rest, and it's important to experiment to see what works best for you. Here are some types of rest to consider: Physical rest: This includes getting enough sleep, exercising regularly, and taking breaks throughout the day. Mental rest: This involves activities that help you relax and clear your mind, such as meditation, mindfulness, or spending time in nature. Emotional rest: This means taking time to process your emotions and connect with your feelings. Sensory rest: This involves limiting your exposure to sensory overload, such as loud noises or bright lights. Social rest: This means spending time with loved ones and engaging in social activities that bring you joy. Creative rest: This involves engaging in activities that allow you to express yourself creatively, such as painting, writing, or playing music. Spiritual rest: This means connecting with your values and beliefs and finding meaning in your life.   By incorporating different types of rest into our lives, we can find a better balance and avoid burnout. Remember, it's okay to slow down and prioritize self-care. Let's break free from the hustle culture and create a more sustainable and fulfilling way of working. Your Business Needs You to Get out of the Suck of ADHD and Embrace the Solution

Hey everyone,  In this episode, I'm opening up about a big realization I've had: living alone is the perfect fit for me. I've found that it really helps to reduce unnecessary stimuli and just gives my brain a chance to chill out. Looking back, I realize that marrying the first kind-hearted, well-off guy I met was a big mistake.  Why I've Embraced Solo Living I've recently come to a profound realization: living alone is the perfect fit for my lifestyle and mental well-being. For years, I felt pressured to conform to societal norms and expectations, but now I've finally found peace and clarity in embracing solitude. Reflecting on Past Marriage Decisions Looking back, I can see how societal expectations influenced my past marriage decisions. Growing up, I was constantly bombarded with messages about the importance of finding a husband, settling down, and starting a family. These pressures led me to believe that my worth was tied to my relationship status. Choosing a Partner Based on Societal Expectations When I met my ex-husband, I was drawn to his kindness and financial stability. However, as time went on, I realized that these qualities alone were not enough to sustain a fulfilling marriage. We had fundamentally different values and life goals, and our relationship eventually fell apart. Overcoming Regret and Moving Forward After my divorce, I experienced a period of deep regret and self-doubt. I questioned my choices and wondered if I had made a mistake. However, with time and introspection, I was able to come to terms with my past and move forward. Finding Happiness for My Ex-Partner Despite the challenges we faced, I genuinely wish my ex-husband happiness. I'm glad to see that he has found a partner who is a better match for him and who truly understands and appreciates him. Embracing a New Chapter Living alone has given me the opportunity to rediscover myself and my passions. I've become more independent, confident, and content. I've also learned to appreciate the value of solitude and the importance of creating a peaceful and nurturing environment for myself.   If you're not already, be sure to follow The Self-Loved Woman Way®️ podcast and share!   AND, connect with me on social media! My Personal ADHD Journey I'll share my own experiences with ADHD, including the challenges I've faced as an entrepreneur. From feeling overwhelmed to struggling with focus, I'll be honest about the ups and downs of this journey. The Challenges of Overfunctioning in Business Over-functioning can sabotage our entrepreneurial efforts in various ways. Dysregulation: Our nervous systems can become overwhelmed, leading to anxiety, stress, and other issues. Imposter Syndrome: The constant need to prove ourselves can contribute to feelings of self-doubt. The Importance of Regulating Your Nervous System To navigate the unpredictable world of entrepreneurship, it's essential to regulate our nervous systems. Welcome to the Self Loved Woman Podcast! Today, I'm diving deep into a topic that's near and dear to my heart: mindfulness for ADHD. As someone who's navigated the ups and downs of this type of neurodivergene, I've found that mindfulness has been a game-changer in helping me focus, reduce stress, and connect with myself on a deeper level. Understanding ADHD and Focus: Let's talk about ADHD. We all know the struggle – the racing thoughts, the difficulty staying on task, and the constant feeling of being overwhelmed. But did you know that mindfulness can be a powerful tool for managing these symptoms? Debunking Mindfulness Myths: One of the biggest misconceptions about mindfulness is that you need to sit perfectly still and empty your mind. That's simply not the case! Mindfulness is about being present in the moment, and that can happen in a variety of ways. Whether you're brushing your teeth, taking a walk, or doing yoga, you can incorporate mindfulness into your daily routine. Mindfulness Techniques for ADHD: In this episode, I'll share some specific mindfulness techniques that have worked wonders for me and other people with ADHD. We'll explore things like body scans, guided meditations, and mindful movement. Scientific Evidence Supporting Mindfulness: But don't just take my word for it! There's a growing body of scientific research that supports the benefits of mindfulness for people with ADHD. We'll discuss some of the latest studies and what they reveal about how mindfulness can improve focus, reduce anxiety, and enhance overall well-being. Personal Experiences with Mindfulness: I'll also share my own personal journey with mindfulness. From the challenges I faced to the incredible transformations I've experienced, I'll be honest and open about my experiences. Movement-Based Mindfulness Practices: For those of us who struggle to sit still, mindfulness doesn't have to mean sitting in meditation. We'll explore some movement-based mindfulness practices that can be incredibly effective for people with ADHD. Developing a Seated Meditation Practice: If you're interested in trying seated meditation, I'll provide some tips and strategies to help you get started. We'll talk about finding a comfortable posture, dealing with distractions, and cultivating patience. Trauma-Sensitive Mindfulness Practices: For those who have experienced trauma, it's important to approach mindfulness in a way that's safe and supportive. We'll discuss trauma-sensitive mindfulness practices and how to create a healing space.   Mindfulness is a valuable tool for anyone with ADHD. By incorporating mindfulness into your daily life, you can improve your focus, reduce stress, and cultivate a greater sense of self-awareness and connection. I hope this episode has inspired you to explore mindfulness and see how it can benefit you. Remember, there's no right or wrong way to practice mindfulness. The most important thing is to find what works best for you and to be patient with yourself along the way.   If you're not already, be sure to follow The Self-Loved Woman Way®️ podcast and share!   AND, connect with me on social media! Hey, it's Jen from the Self Loved Woman Podcast. I used to think I was disciplined, but I've realized it's about training habits, especially with ADHD. Each habit I've built, like my morning routine, came over time, not all at once. In today's episode we look at how willpower is needed to start a habit, but it's also limited so we must focus on one habit at a time, making it interesting and removing barriers. Keep existing habits to avoid starting over. It takes about 66 days to build a habit. If you're struggling, start with one small step. Check out today's episode for more tips.      If you're like most ADHD women entrepreneurs then you're likely jumping from task to task, not really sure where or even how to actually focus. And each task you start just opens the door to more tasks you have to do so you keep shifting your attention. This is just what our ADHD brains do. AND the good news is, there's a solution.
