Unlocking Fertility: The Power of Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine In our latest podcast episode, we spoke with Dr. Susan Fox, an expert in fertility acupuncture from the Norcal Fertility Group. With over 20 years of experience, Dr. Fox combines traditional Chinese medicine with modern techniques to help improve fertility. Dr. Fox has transitioned to online education, offering her "Your Fertile Health" course at Health University. The course integrates Chinese medicine principles without needles, using near-infrared protocols and transcutaneous electrical acupoint stimulation (TEAS). "It's evidence-based. There is even now a website called Evidence-Based Acupuncture that goes through and culls research that has proven, to the extent that anything can be proven, its efficacy with a variety of conditions, including fertility." Central to Dr. Fox's approach is the Five Element Model from Traditional Chinese Medicine, which categorizes individuals into five elements: wood, fire, earth, air, and water. Her course begins with a quiz at yourfertilityquiz.com to help identify one's dominant element and provide personalized recommendations. Dr. Fox emphasizes addressing both physical and emotional aspects of fertility. She shared practical tips for improving fertility, including proper nutrition, hydration, circulation, and sleep. She cautions against using over-the-counter supplements from unreliable sources. For those interested in learning more, Dr. Fox offers a free fertility quiz and a comprehensive online course. These resources provide valuable insights and actionable steps to enhance fertility naturally. What do you do when a practitioner decides to move on? It's inevitable that this will happen within your practice. Today I answer a listener question from a chiropractor and clinic owner in Vancouver, BC, who is navigating the tricky process of offboarding a practitioner from their wellness center. I share the challenges and best practices I've learned when it comes to smoothly transitioning a departing provider. The listener has been running their clinic for just over a year and is now facing the inevitable – one of their practitioners, a clinical counselor, has decided to venture out on their own. While they're supportive of their colleague's decision, the task of finding a replacement and ensuring a seamless transition for clients has become a top priority. "Making it a smooth transition is all about prioritizing the clients. One thing that can be kind of a best practice option in these scenarios is to have a formal letter that is given to all the clients that explains the transition." I dive deep into the key considerations for offboarding a practitioner. This actually starts with the onboarding process, and legal agreements to the administrative and relational aspects. I emphasize the importance of having clear protocols in place, such as return of company property, client information handoffs, and the recommended notice period (hint: it's longer than the traditional two weeks). I believe this episode is essential for any clinic owner or wellness center leader who has faced or anticipates facing the challenge of a practitioner departure. I provide invaluable insights on how to navigate these transitions with grace, maintaining positive relationships and, most importantly, ensuring the continued care and support of clients. Can you create a wellness center that helps the entire family? You sure can! In this episode, I talk with Kris La Fave Smith, the owner of Village Wellness Center in Orange County, California. Kris is a licensed marriage and family therapist who has built a group practice with a team of seven clinicians, each specializing in different areas of mental health and wellness. Kris first discovered her passion for therapy at the young age of 15, but it took her about 15 years to finally pursue her master's degree and become a licensed clinician. She started her career working in trauma and maternal mental health, before expanding her practice to serve the whole family. During the pandemic, Kris hired her first associate and learned valuable lessons about creating a collaborative, supportive team culture. During our conversation, Kris discusses how Village Wellness Center has evolved to offer a wide range of services, from EMDR therapy for trauma to faith-based counseling. Her goal is to provide comprehensive, wraparound care for clients, with clinicians who specialize in different areas. While Kris still sees clients herself, she has found a better work-life balance by running her own practice versus working in a clinic setting. "This wasn't about me, it was about this more internal drive or need for me to help somebody else in a position that I was once in and know the struggle of. And bringing on somebody as less of an employee, but more as a partner." This episode is a must-listen for therapists who dream of building their own wellness center. Kris shares inspiring insights with me on creating a thriving team, adapting to growth, and putting family first as a business owner. Listeners will walk away feeling motivated to take the leap and pursue their own vision of an integrated, holistic practice. To learn more about Kris La Fave Smith and Village Wellness Center, visit their website at myvillagewc.com. Kris is also offering a 10% discount on out-of-pocket fees for new clients, to make therapy more accessible. Connect with Kris at info@myvillagewc.com. Where do you begin when you want to create your own wellness center? Hey everyone! In this episode of the Wellness Center Creators podcast, I had the pleasure of chatting with Melinda Choy, a practitioner and clinic owner who's making waves in the world of holistic medicine. Melinda's story is pretty incredible - it all started when she saw her parents struggling with various health issues. That's what sparked her interest in alternative remedies and set her on the path to becoming a natural therapies superstar. "I spent a lot of time going in and out of hospitals, doctor's appointments, and various treatments for them. And I always felt somewhat disgruntled with the conventional medical system." Melinda is the real deal. She's got an impressive background, having worked in healthcare administration before becoming a provider herself. She eventually opened her own clinic, Elevate Wellness Center, where she's created a unique business model that brings together a bunch of different practitioners. Talk about a dream team! During our chat, Melinda shared some great insights about her journey and how Elevate Wellness Center came to be. She opened up about how seeing her parents' health struggles fueled her passion for alternative therapies, and how her experiences in the insurance industry and acupuncture school helped shape her vision for a holistic clinic. Ever wonder what it takes to build a successful online program in the wellness industry? In this episode of my podcast, I had an enlightening chat with Lori Kennedy about mastering online program creation. With extensive wellness industry expertise, Lori provided invaluable insights on transitioning from one-on-one work to scalable online offerings. As a seasoned professional, Lori realized practitioners need new approaches to grow their impact. She helps coaches design programs aligned to their skills and goals, whether one-on-one support, group coaching, a fusion model, or self-guided learning. "I realized very quickly after working with a handful of clients that the model that I was taught, the model to sell time, 60-minute sessions for $150… That was not actually going to set me up for success." Lori explained the unique benefits of each program type, so practitioners can effectively deliver their methodology to more clients. By choosing the right framework, we can share our gifts at scale. This conversation is essential listening for any wellness pro aiming to create online programs and scalable income streams. Lori inspired me with practical guidance on overcoming obstacles and building resilience. "I wanted to find a way to be able to have it all. I wanted to find a way to be able to do what I wanted to do, to work with people, to support them because my life was transformed by a naturopath. I wanted to be successful, and I also really wanted to be present with my kids. That was really important to me." To explore more of Lori's wisdom, visit her website or on Instagram @lorikennedyinc and take her free quiz to uncover the ideal program model for you. I'm grateful to Lori for providing a roadmap to unlock the power of online learning. Tune in to step into the future of your wellness business!
