On the other side of the breakout was freedom like never before. It was there that she owned and stood in her truth as she vowed to use her gifts and grace to help others break free and stand in theirs.Through her coaching programs and unique T.R.U.T.H.™ and I.M.P.A.C.T.™ systems, Yalonda coaches others to break down invisible walls so that they can get what they really want out of life. In this episode we cover:You've been waiting for your weights to be lifted but have you considered that simply letting go of your weights could lift your wait? You carry burdens so tightly wound in your grasp that they change you. How being so focused on our problems tunnels our vision to the point where help could be to our right or left but we can't see it! Over time when we decide to let go some of us find:1. There was nothing there all this time. 2. You were holding a feather, something so light and insignificant that with the slightest breeze it's carried away. 3. Some were holding bricks—missing those easier paths traveled because you couldn't see them so determined to carry your weight or burdens. 4. Now that you have let go of your weights (an emotional weight), a wait (a temporal wait) can be lifted. 5. The bricks you left at your feet must be destroyed because you've already developed the muscle mass to carry them and it would be so easy to pick them back up rather than retrain your mind and body for something new. They have to broken into manageable pieces through: a) Wise counsel—medical and spiritual, b) Doing what you know is right even when it's difficult, even when you don't want to and even when it's uncomfortable, and c) With the passage of timeDr. Sheri (pronounced Sher-Ree) is a visionary, best-selling author, and sought-after physician leader. In this episode we cover:This time has caused me to reflect about how my faith was formed as I looked back over my life. One thing I've come to know is that, “we all want easy”. But we weren't made for easy. Being alive entails more than mere existence. The human existence paradoxically is so frail and yet so powerful. Hooking into that power is what allows you to turn struggles into triumphs, bring visions into existence and dreams into reality. So when I look back over my life…it is in the struggle…it is in the squeezing times of life that my faith grew.I've delivered hundreds of keynotes, including a Ted talk and a commencement speech at Northwestern University and I can tell you that the reason I've received standing ovations at every single one from audiences of 50 to over 40,000 is because I allowed myself to be vulnerable and I shared my raw and intense emotions of loss, fear, confusion, and pain. But completed the story with the blessings of my suffering…because the proof is in the pudding, and hanging tough through tough times…and most of all, hanging tight to God…that is what has built my faith.Naturally when we are going through we have the tendency to look outward for help, assistance and answers. I have been listening lately to voices demanding more, more, more, looking to someone else to solve their problems. And I get it! I totally understand. When you are being squeezed, you cry out in desperation. You are looking for solutions….help….aid…. and you want it quick!I know.I have been there! But I have learned that God is the One to call out to when you feel under pressure and hurting.Life is not easy…so stop looking for easy, we should not seek easy… we SHOULD seek HIM! The word seek means to go after, chase down, search for, ask, or consult. If you want to seek God, make Him a priority and don't stop chasing after Him even when you feel satisfied. You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart. This promise to the people of Israel can be claimed for us today as well. And, in finding Him, we find rest for our weary souls. He is the source of rest because His yoke is easy and His burden is light People generally see what they look for; and hear what they listen for. Harper Lee, writerThe question is…..what are YOU looking for? What are YOU listening to? Maybe it is time to stop watching non-stop news and listen to a much more sure report. Maybe it is time for us to look UP and to listen to God's word. Some of you may be standing on the edge of a steep precipice at this very moment, wondering will you jump, or fall or simply not move at all. We all come to that point in life when we must change our outlook and start looking ahead to a new way of doing things, a new vision for life, a renewed faith in the power of what it is to simply "be." If you want something bad enough, NOTHING will stop you from reaching your goals and dreams. It's amazing what you can do!! Just trust and believe in yourself. Allow your journey in life to make you comfortable with uncertainty and improvisation. Then you will live wisely and well, not in spite of your troublesome journey but because of it.This is Dr. Sheri, remember be present, take charge of your life and LIVE today and every day!
In this episode we will cover:How divine intervention can bring you through an addiction.Family can create a powerful experience where God becomes real in your life. How it is impossible to deny God's powerful existence. The importance of striving to be the person God made you to be.The importance of sharing your story so that others can build their faith, receive support, and not feel so alone in the process.People in addiction can do horrible things, but they are not their poor decisions and they can be forgiven for them all.How to help family members support their loved one in addiction.Jennifer Maneely, founder of Maneely Consulting, Inc. She's a perfect guest for our show. Her first sentiment expressed to me was, “I'm in the addiction field where sometimes all you have left is a prayer after all the medicine in the world won't fix everything.” Now that's a “where medicine meets ministry moment”! In her own words, “having loved ones in addition can leave a person hopeless and desperate and it's a good reminder to see that God has a plan, even it it's not the one we necessarily want, but asking for strength and remembering the word of God is imperative to help get families through addition.”"I suffered with my own addiction and it was purely through divine intervention that I survived. My mom and I had such a powerful experience together, and the events leading up to my last day using were so God led, I could never deny God's powerful existence. Everyday, I continue to strive to be the person that God made me, and share my story with others so they can have faith, support, and maybe not feel so lost through the process of having loved ones in addiction. In this episode we cover: Understanding how one's environment shapes or influences one's behavior.Finding enlightenment in the understanding of God that goes beyond denominations and religions. In our understanding of God, we tend to humanize God, making God who we think He is rather than thinking of God as He is to us.We can experience different manifestations as God presents Himself to us.We are all the offspring of God, but sin is the reducer. It reduces our capacity to eternal life. Sin limits what our bodies do, what our bodies think, and what our bodies and minds understand. Therefore, our ability to understand God in totality is limited by sin.Faith has to be questioned in order for it to be real, but principles are still at play in the world that may be in conflict with what you are believing God will do.Faith that cannot be challenged or that can not withstand challenge, can it be true faith or solid faith?Knowing (intimate knowledge of) God helps you to understand how God relates to you personally. The application of faith is more important than the measure of faith. When you apply the faith OF God IN God we realize how God moves and once we realize how God moves through us, with us and for us, then we get a better understanding of who God is to us. This intimate relationship becomes unshakeable. The reason why people have challenges with God is because they didn't go through a challenge WITH GOD. Rod Dennis was called to preach and began his public ministry in 1974, at the tender age of fifteen. Growing up in the inner city of Chicago, he has always remained dedicated to preaching, speaking, and teaching to empower men and women, both young and old, to realize their Divine purpose and fulfill their destiny. He offers a practical approach that challenges the scholarly and yet is easily understood by those who seek a simple message. Rod's formal education includes Bachelor of Science degrees from Roosevelt University and Grand Canyon University; Master degrees from George Washington University and Southern Methodist University; he is currently finishing his doctoral degree in psychology. Rod has also held various secular managerial positions with leading Fortune 100 companies. Rod has ministered throughout this country for over 40 years.
