Send us a Text Message.Scotty Austin isn't your ordinary or average run-of-the-mill rock star. With a remarkable track record playing across the United States, as well as being a multi-instrumentalist in numerous genres, it is clear he has a unique perspective when it comes to creating music. Hailing from Parsons, Tennessee, his interest in various instruments started at a young age when he began reading music in kindergarten while also gaining experience in the family band at church. By the late 90s, Scotty began expanding on his knowledge of music genres and branching out to multiple styles such as percussion and classical guitar performance before earning his spot as the band leader of the official NASCAR Rolling Thunder band for an entire season. His accomplishments continued when around the early 2000s, he won fourth place in the world during the International Blues Contest while representing Memphis, Tennessee. Shortly after, Scotty collaborated with a new original group and recording artist, Ash Bowers, along with Jason Aldean's label, Broken Bow Records, as well as the sister label, Stoney Creek Records. It wasn't long until Scotty decided to start his own original project, an indie rock band called Trash the Brand. He had wanted to record and play songs that he had written but never had the chance to play. Within weeks of forming, he was playing to packed houses and venues which in turn caught the attention of a few people in the music industry. Soon Scotty found himself in contact with Jeff Hanson (manager of Creed and Saving Abel), who offered to manage him. While negotiating, he asked Hanson to put him on the show with Saving Abel that was happening that weekend in Memphis. He was given the opening spot for the concert. A few days after the show, Scotty was asked to front Saving Abel in which he accepted and has since been with for over 8 years. Scotty Austin has used his natural talent and ear for distinct sounds to produce expressive song lyrics and music throughout his chttp://www.betterhelp.com/TheBarnThis episode is sponsored by www.betterhelp.com/TheBarn and brought to you as always by The Barn Media Group. We've always wondered about reincarnation, and how our soul carries memories, experiences, and even emotions from past lives into our present lives. Frank recently did a past life regression with "Dr. Clair," our family psychic therapist. It provided incredible insight for Frank, shedding light on the ways our past selves can influence our paths towards growth and transformation. Each revelation feels like a puzzle piece clicking into place, offering clarity and healing. Up first, it's Jared Weeks from Saving Abel. We stared off the conversation by talking about playing for the troops overseas. He talked about leaving and rejoining the band. Jared's always been very candid about his struggles. Leaving the band was self-preservation. ""I just didn't have the tools to live in reality at the volume of 11." He had to get himself together, through therapy and more, to straighten up his life. He tells me what the other guys in the band have going on. New music? Yes, it's coming. He talked about the cover song that he did with the band No Resolve. As far as Saving Abel, the single called "Baptize Me" drops on April 14th. "We've focused more on hard riff, double bass, more rock and roll type music." He said the music has more of a mission and purpose. He became very emotional when I brought up the passing of Wayne Swinny from Saliva. Wayne was a great friend to many in the music business, Saving Abel no exception. Jared told a story of joining the Wayne on stage last year. That's just for starters with Jared...... Brad Arnold from 3 Doors Down and Kevin Martin from Candlebox joined me to talk about their summer tour, which stops here on June 21st at the Michigan Lottery Amphitheater. Kevin confirmed this will be the last proper tour for his band. "I've been threatening this for a long time." He said the pandemic really pushed him towards his decision. He went into more on that and how touring forced him to miss out on much of his family life. Brad gave me his thoughts on his last tour. "I've thought about it before, but I got to where it's fun again." He talked about being on tour before he got sober "It got to be not fun!" Even though Kevin is retiring from touring, that doesn't mean that things will stop for him. He still plans on doing charity shows and new music, with a documentary on the horizon. "It's time for me to say goodbye to this (touring) lifestyle." They tell me which they prefer - an outdoor shed vs. and indoor show. Kevin talked about touring with RUSH and what he learned from that tour that he still does today, thirty years later. He also talked about being joined by at least one original member through some of the final shows. Brad talked about being the last original member from the inception of the band. "By the grace of God. Man, we've had some bad stuff happen. Either one of those situations that happened to those other guys, could've happened to me." -Meltdown- https://wrif.com/shows/meltdown-on-wrif/ https://wrif.com/podcasts/talkin-rock-with-meltdown/

On this episode of Roger The Wild Child Show: Nashville, we are joined by country music singer/songwriter Justin Biltonen (bassist for 3 Doors Down)!JUSTIN BILTONEN Justin Biltonen is a Country Artist and Singer Songwriter from Arden, North Carolina. Growing up in the heyday of classic 90's Country sparked his passion for music. Like many artists, he started playing guitar and singing in church worship groups in high school, however in 2004, fired by rebellious excitement, he began touring the country playing southern fried Rock n' Roll. During those late night van drives, that wandered endlessly down lonesome highways, he reignited his passion for Country music. It was bands like Drive By Truckers, Waylon and Shooter Jennings, Brooks and Dunn, Shenandoah and countless other Country artists (all conjured from the soundtrack of his youth), that kept him company on those long drives. It was also during this time Justin began frequent trips to Nashville, Tennessee and fell in love with the music and positive atmosphere within the city's music community. Learning the ways of Nashville songwriting began an inspiring journey into the professional music world. In 2013 Justin made the move to Nashville and joined the band 3 Doors Down as the bands bass player and began touring the world in support of numerous chart topping albums. The band's latest release titled “Us And The Night”, which peaked at #2 on the Billboard Rock Charts, was the firstmajor release Justin wrote and performed on.In 2018 encouraged by friends, family and fellow songwriters, Justin debuted two songs under his own name. The first two songs “Use You” and “How A Man's Made” mark a brave chapter in Justin's musical journey. Driven by a creative calling to make music, Justin quickly released a follow up single in October of the same year. His third single titled “She's Got The Highway” was released on digital platforms and for the first time, several terrestrial radio markets. With two more singles set to be released, numerous live appearances at Broadway honky-tonks and beyond and a rapidly growing fanbase, 2019 is shaping up to be a breakout year for the young Country artist. ******Roger the Wild Child Show: Nashville is streamed live every Sunday night 8pm ET/ 5pm PT on Facebook, YouTube and Twitter. Renee is tired of lighthearted teen books, so she whips out a weird one for this week. 13 Days to Midnight tells the story of Jacob, a 15 year old who tragically witnesses his dad die and gains the power of invincibility in the process. With his friend Milo and the new manic pixie dream girl Ophelia, he starts finding ways to use this power. Things go terribly wrong. This book that is so obviously written by a man just includes a lot of death, a stupid teen relationship, and Harry Houdini. While discussing this book, Mary has horrible flashbacks to the Netflix adaptation of Death Note. Other shenanigans ensue but Renee can't remember them right now because it's 6 AM as she writes this. Listen to the episode to discover what antics we get up to this week! Episode source material: 13 Days to Midnight by Patrick Carman.
