The struggle to tell your story is real. Just ask Andrea Sanchez. I did! Andrea believes that the more you tell your story, the more you open it up for others to tell theirs. When we start seeing the humanness in each other, we become more connected and the world becomes a kinder place. Trust your gut. If your trauma story keeps coming out, reach out for help. Find someone you trust and get your story out or it will go someplace else in your body and cause dis-eases. The best part about sharing our stories is that what we went through can actually help others to shorten their learning curve or avoid disaster altogether.
In this episode, Andrea Sanchez teaches us about asking for help. Her 3 main points are: You are not alone, Someone is listening, and Only the strong ask for help. I asked her if she actually did what she teaches and mentioned that asking for help is difficult for me. Andrea's response was priceless. She agreed with me that it's a tough/hard thing to do and that is why she called it out. Obviously we had a good laugh over that one. This was an enjoyable and thought provoking interview so pull up a chair and have a listen.
The word Believe covers Andrea Sanchez's mantra. If she did tattoos, she'd engrave it on her wrist. Andrea believes in a higher power and how important it is to have something to believe in and opens one up to possibilities. We chatted about my two favorite books “The Art of Possibility” and “Pathways to Possibility”. Possibilities are endless, we get to choose our mindset and then breathe into an unlimited canvas. Andrea shares her super power question: Will I regret it if I don't do this and take advantage of this opportunity before me. You won't want to miss this episode.
Meet Andrea Sanchez. She was never allowed to express her own feelings and she was told what to wear, think, and behave. Abuse comes in many forms, including cultural and religious abuse. This created low self-confidence and drew in bullying at school, not to mention plenty of emotional trauma. All of which led Andrea into depression and anxiety. She found her voice once she moved out of her family's home and started to attend University. Her wounded inner child continued into her adult life as a wife, mother, and even in her career. Not wanting her kids to end up this way she stepped into her power and really figured out Andrea's spark. So have a listen! Learn how you can introduce yourself and connect with others through your story as you develop your brand.
Andrea moved to Chinle, a small reservation town in AZ as a small child. She grew up in a happy home with amazing parents who loved her and her siblings. She counts herself lucky to live in a place that allows kids to be kids without many of the distractions of a larger town or the inner city. Internet was barely a thing, computers were used just at school and her little town was about 10 years behind everything else. It also was teeny tiny with a population of approx 3500. Her Father was the minister of the local church and was known and loved by the entire city. The community knew their church and Andrea was happy to be involved in every way she could from singing in choir, teaching Children's Church, Sunday School, and Community outreaches. Not all was beautiful here though, a culture steeped in false religion and plagued by broken families and suicide kept her family busy shining the light of the gospel and serving day in and day out. Everyone who saw or would meet Andrea would assume that she was saved. As a matter of fact, she thought she was. TUNE IN to hear what revealed that Jesus was not her Lord in SOMEONE I COULD TELL YOU ABOUT. Andrea gets raw in her genuine retelling of her journey as a chruch kid raised in the presence of God and what ultimately lead to her surrender.

In this episode of Career Can Do, Mary Ann Faremouth chats with Andrea Sanchez. Andrea is Director of Communications at ENGIE North America, where she oversees internal and external communications efforts for over 1600 employees. She is also Community Ambassador at HumansFirst, and Executive Director at SparkStory. Andrea works with a humanitarian effort to create a more harmonious work environment and bring a ‘we' mentality to corporate culture. She talks about human connection in the workplace, and how she is creating spaces for authenticity. All workplaces start with people, but we tend to lose sight of that because we focus so much on business, Andrea shares. The people are what make workplaces successful, and when it comes to people, emotions are key. The more we can have respect, understanding, and compassion for others, the better we are going to be and the bigger contribution we're going to be able to make, Mary Ann adds. Andrea started her online rally, initially called A Rally for Equality, as a way to spread good amidst the social unrest of June 2020. Since then, it has exploded into a vehicle for authenticity, kindness, and connecting with other people. “It grew to be more like A Hope and Kindness Rally, and I call it that because I want to remind people that there is hope regardless of what you've been through, and we show up because we want to be kind to each other,” Andrea says. The two best friends started Raw Apothecary, a natural beauty brand that speaks to women of all ages. In this episode I had the pleasure of talking with Andrea Sanchez. Andrea is a Certified Essential Oil Specialist, a Certified Crystal Healer, an AromaTouch Practitioner and is Symphony of the Cells Certified. She is also the author of the Chakra Essentials booklet . We get into so much great and practical stuff including: 1. Ideas and ways to "meditate" if you hate meditating and can't sit still! 2. The difference between crystals, minerals, gemstones and rocks! 3. The importance of cleaning your crystals and how to do it: Under running water, setting the intention to "clear" your crystal of any energy it has held onto that is not for your highest good. You can also smudge them with palo santo or dried sage or set them on your windowsill/backyard under the full moon. 4. A few lesser known crystals that are awesome: -*Shungite- One of Andrea's favorite crystals(or minerals :)) to use for EMF/5G protection, detox, energetic protection and more. Link to a book a recommend to learn more about this stone; https://www.amazon.com/Shungite-Protection-Detoxification-Regina-Martino/dp/1620552604 - *Smoky Quartz- Another great grounding & protective crystal, and it's easily found at one's local crystal shop or online. - *Lemurian Seed Quartz- With striations, or ladder-like markings, these crystals look like a clear quartz but have a high-vibration! Most have a feminine energy and help clear our chakras and connect us with universal, unconditional love. 5. Crystals for tapping into the Divine Feminine and working with the Moon and the 2nd Chakra 6. Andrea's personal habits for staying tapped in ....and more! This week we talk with Andrea, and she let's us into the closet of a mother of three, and how hilariously inappropriate it can be. Also, how she uses running to escape the hilarity.

The Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers is a US-based non-profit that has been preparing students from a hispanic background for careers in STEM since 1974. We recorded this episode at their 2018 national conference in Cleveland, Ohio where more than 7000 engineering students and professionals met for 4 days of workshops and networking. In 2015, in the midst of the #IlookLikeAnEngineer movement 3 young Latina Engineers and SHPE members felt that there was something missing from the conference: A space where female students could talk and learn about topics specific to their experiences and where they could celebrate and empower each other. This was how the SHPEtinas were born. They spearheaded a track for the 2016 conference with workshops and panels led by female professionals and have become a staple of the national conference ever since. Together these 3 women, Ximena Aristizabal, Andrea Sanchez Sours and Stephanie Serrano have grown a movement that has touched the lives of 2000+ female students and young professionals. This is a look at their story. Subscribe to Conexiones on iTunes, Spotify and wherever podcasts are hears.
