This day in Spain will famously be remembered for the first Ferrari victory scored by Sir Lewis Hamilton. And it was no gift. After starting from the front row and splitting the two factory Mercedes in the early race phase, Lewis dramatically chose to make a second tyre change - to medium Pirellis - at the perfect moment. His mid-race pace on the softer tyres quickly elevated him to the front when the Mercs stopped for their second set of hards - and Lewis always seemed likely to be there at the finish, despite a third pit stop that was looming. Then fate stepped in - just as it had in Abu Dhabi, 2021, when Nicholas Latiffi's retirement brought out the Safety Car. On this occasion, Fernando Alonso stopped his slow Aston Martin-Honda at T9; Ferrari missed an immediate pit stop but the Virtual Safety Car conditions were still current as Lewis came round again. He emerged from the pit lane just in front of George Russell's Mercedes. Head down on slightly newer Pirelli hards, Lewis then drove away to win by the astounding margin of 19.5sec. Kimi Antonelli passed Russell in a sensational move with six laps to go...but then stopped on track with a dead engine. Russell thus finished second, ahead of McLaren-Mercedes' Lando Norris, Red Bull-RBPT Ford's Max Verstappen, Oscar Piastri in the other McLaren and Isack Hadjar in the second Red Bull. Finish Your Breakfast: 6.15.2026 - World Cup fans invade Fenway (didn't help the Red Sox), Sir Lewis Hamilton gets a win, the Knicks are NBA Champions, and James Wood keeps hitting homers. Let's go!
Although Max Verstappen's qualifying brilliance on Sunday came to nought - came to a dead stop on the grid, just after lights-out - there was still a Monaco GP to be run. There were penalties aplenty; there were Safety Cars; there was a standing re-start; and drivers like Ferrari's Charles Leclerc hit the barriers. Through it all, though, from the front, from the pole and with fastest lap to his credit, Kimi Antonelli, 19, the Mercedes driver, won the Monaco GP. Sir Lewis Hamilton finished a valiant P2 for Ferrari, ahead of Max's team-mate, Isack Hadjaar, who, despite PU management dramas, was still able to beat the likes of Mercedes' George Russell and McLaren's Oscar Piastri. Peter in this video looks back at a complicated but emotional day at the Monte-Carlo harbour. Note: as we posted this video came the news that Isack Hadjar will not receive a penalty and will thus retain his P3 for Red BullWith thanks to Jetcraft, the world's largest buyer and seller of executive jets:https://jetcraft.comTo TrackNinja, a lap-timer and data app designed to help users improve their on-track car and driver performance through analysis and an innovative Data Garage. Mark Slade joins us live for this Monaco GP preview - and of course there'll be no shortage of storylines. How will the electric-ICE 2026 F1 cars perform around Monaco? Will the great corners in the Principality still be great? Which cars will the circuit favour? Can Monaco's hero, Charles Leclerc, bounce back from a difficult Canadian GP weekend? Or can Sir Lewis Hamilton sustain his momentum at Ferrari? Could Kimi Antonelli actually make it five in a row for Mercedes? Or maybe McLaren-Mercedes will put together a straightforward weekend and finally win a '26 race. And then there's Max. Given the variables of Monaco, not the least of which is the weather, those who discount Red Bull and Max Verstappen do so at their peril... Look for all these talking-points and more - as we are joined live on YouTube chat with some great questions and comments from our listeners.Mark Slade has served in the roles of Race Engineer and Chief Engineer at McLaren, Mercedes, Renault and Haas. He has played a major role in two World Championships, 34 GP wins, 101 podiums and 40 pole positions - including three Monaco GP wins from four poles: 1998 (Mika Hakkinen), 2005 (Kimi Raikkonen) and 2007 (Fernando Alonso).Peter Windsor, an award-winning journalist who has worked in race- and championship-winning managerial roles at Williams and Ferrari, is a recipient of the Lorenzo Bandini Gold Medal for his services to motor sport. Round three of the 2026 F1 World Championship - the all-new F1 championship - resulted in a second consecutive win for Mercedes' Kimi Antonelli. After making a slow start from the pole, Kimi benefitted from a lap 22 Safety Car deployment to vault past his team-mate, George Russell, McLaren-Mercedes' Oscar Piastri and Ferrari's Charles Leclerc. He pulled away impressively at the re-start and was thereafter never headed. Piastri, whose medium Pirellis had been in good shape when he was strangely called in for hards on lap 21, finished second; and Leclerc was third for Ferrari, ahead of Russell, McLaren's Lando Norris and Sir Lewis Hamilton in the other Ferrari. Peter details all three days at Suzuka in this podcast - and there's a bonus at the end as Mark Slade adds his take on the race.Mark Slade has been a race engineer at McLaren, Mercedes, Renault and Haas and has played a major role in two World Championships, 34 GP wins, 101 podiums and 40 pole positions. With thanks to Jetcraft, the world's largest buyer and seller of executive jets:https://jetcraft.comTo TrackNinja, a lap-timer and data app designed to help users improve their on-track car and driver performance through analysis and an innovative Data Garage. New regs or not - McLaren-Mercedes in the race (or not): nothing could detract from the enormity of this day in Shanghai - from the first GP win for Mercedes' Kimi Antonelli. From the pole, he seized the race lead from Ferrari's Sir Lewis Hamilton on lap two - and was thereafter never headed. Lewis re-applied pressure after the pit stops; and team-mate, George Russell, was up their in P2, pushing hard, as the race unfolded. Kimi, though, was unperturbed. His win was as decisive as it was audacious. George duly finished P2, Lewis a stellar P3 and Charles Leclerc P4 in the other Ferrari. Neither McLaren made the start (electrical issues); and it was another bad day for Red Bull and Aston Martin. In this video, Peter looks back at a big day for Italy and for the new F1 regs. With thanks to Jetcraft, the world's largest buyer and seller of executive jets:https://jetcraft.comTo TrackNinja, a lap-timer and data app designed to help users improve their on-track car and driver performance through analysis and an innovative Data Garage. The factory Mercedes team - George Russell heading Kimi Antonelli - duly finished one-two in Melbourne, exhibiting more power, more downforce, more grip and more balance than all of their opposition - and capped all of that with perfect strategy calls. Ferrari pushed them hardest, with Charles Leclerc beautifully taking the lead into T1 and exchanging early-lap power surges with George Russell, but weird strategies quickly knocked them back to P3-P4, with Leclerc crossing the line 0.6sec ahead of his team-mate, Sir Lewis Hamilton. A messy day for McLaren-Mercedes began with Oscar Piastri crashing into the barriers on his pre-grid out-lap and Lando Norris finishing only P5. Red Bull-RBPT Ford's Max Verstappen finished P6 after starting near the back of the grid on hard Pirellis, but his team-mate, Isack Hadjar, who had qualified P3, was out of the race early with a PU blow-up. In this video, Peter looks back - with a somewhat critical eye - at this first race of the new F1.With thanks to Jetcraft, the world's largest buyer and seller of executive jets:https://jetcraft.comTo TrackNinja, a lap-timer and data app designed to help users improve their on-track car and driver performance through analysis and an innovative Data Garage.
And so it ended. Max, Oscar and Lando finished one-two-three on the Abu Dhabi road - but it was Lando who was thus ahead in the final standings of the FIA Drivers' World Championship by the margin of two points. Lando Norris = World Champion. Max was magnificent from the pole; Oscar ran hard Pirellis from the start (rather than the Mediums selected by all the other major runners) and, in so doing, applied some pressure on Max for most of the distance; towards the end, though, on old-ish Hards, Max was super-quick and super-consistent as he consolidated his margin over Oscar. Lando brought his McLaren MCL39-Mercedes home in a crafted third place, responding to potential undercuts from George Russell and Charles Leclerc and scything through the mid-field traffic whenever he was on fresh tyres; and Charles Leclerc finished a dazzling P4 for Ferrari, upstaging the factory Mercedes of George Russell and ultimately setting fastest lap late in the race on used Mediums. Into P6, behind George, came a classy Fernando Alonso in the Aston Martin-Mercedes, Esteban Ocon (Haas-Ferrari) and Sir Lewis Hamilton, who had started P16 in his Ferrari. In this video Peter looks back at the key elements of this absorbing, tension-filled finale and reflects - just a little - on the flavour of the season just past. With thanks to Jetcraft, the world's largest buyer and seller of executive jets:https://jetcraft.comTo OEM Exclusive, the passionate suppliers of OEM upgrades for exotic and high-performance vehiclesTo TrackNinja, a lap-timer and data app designed to help users improve their on-track car and driver performance through analysis and an innovative Data Garage. Join Peter and viewers as they look back at a sensational Brazilian (São Paulo) GP at Interlagos. Peter in his opening monologue talks about the controversy surrounding the power unit change on Max Verstappen's Red Bull-Honda and the post-race comment by Ferrari's Chairman, John Elkann, in which he advised his two drivers - Charles Leclerc and Sir Lewis Hamilton - to "talk less and focus on driving". 50 years ago today - in 1975 - 90% of women in Iceland took part in a nationwide protest over inequality. Instead of going to the office, doing housework or childcare, 25,000 women took to the streets, forcing factories and banks to close. It was known as the 'Women's Day Off' and fifty years on, Iceland still leads the world in gender parity, topping the Global Gender Gap Report for the 16th straight year. Anita Rani is joined by Tatjana Latinović, President of Icelandic Women's Rights Association and on the organising committee of today's strike, and Kristín Ástgeirsdottir, former Women's Alliance MP and former director of the Icelandic Centre for Gender Equality. Today, she's moved into a new role as Senior Impact Manager at Mission 44, Sir Lewis Hamilton's foundation which is focused on diversity and inclusion. Stephanie joins Anita to discuss diversifying motorsports and making STEM and motorsport careers more accessible to young people from underrepresented backgrounds.Presenter: Anita Rani Producer: Rebecca Myatt
On the back of his two poles and Sprint race win, Red Bull-Honda's Max Verstappen led the US GP from start to finish, beating Lando Norris (McLaren-Mercedes) by eight seconds. Ferrari's Charles Leclerc finished an excellent P3 after choosing to start the race on soft-compound Pirellis; his team-mate, Sir Lewis Hamilton, finished fourth; and a lackluster Oscar Piastri took P5 in the other McLaren-Mercedes, ahead of George Russell (factory Mercedes), Yuki Tsunoda (Red Bull-Honda), Nico Hulkenberg (Sauber-Ferrari), Oliver Bearman (Haas-Ferrari) and Fernando Alonso (Aston Martin-Mercedes). In this video Peter details the brilliance of Verstappen's performance; explains why, in his opinion, McLaren under-performed; and highlights the sheer quality of Charles Leclerc's race to P3. Also included in this podcast is a special interview with Mark Slade, the championship-winning race engineer at McLaren, Renault and Mercedes. In conversation with Peter, Mark tees up the weekend with a perceptive look at the events of Free Practice on Friday. Despite ceding the lead to McLaren-Mercedes' Lando Norris at the end of lap one, Red Bull-Honda's Max Verstappen brilliantly won the Pirelli Italian GP at Monza, beating both McLaren drivers down into the minor placings. For their part, McLaren introduced more controversial team orders to enable Lando Norris to finish second ahead of Oscar Piastri. Charles Leclerc drove the skin off his Ferrari to finish fourth ahead of Mercedes' George Russell and Sir Lewis Hamilton, who started with a five-place grid penalty after a yellow flag infringement at Zandvoort. Peter in this podcast analyses the Italian GP weekend from the start of the action on Friday through to the chequered flag on Sunday, explaining where Max found an advantage over Lando and Oscar in qualifying and how he parlayed that on Sunday into one of the best wins of the season. For a while out there it looked as though Charles Leclerc and Ferrari would spoil the day of McLaren-Mercedes. As the wind blew from the west, rather than the east, Leclerc had taken the pole in the closing seconds of Q3. And, from the start, he appeared to be in control: Oscar Piastri sat in his mirrors but Lando Norris fell back in the wake of George Russell's Mercedes. Then, almost inevitably, it went wrong: Charles stopped early for his second set of Hard Pirellis and was thereafter never in the hunt: with floor damage, his Ferrari was over a second-a-lap off the pace. It then became a straight fight between the two McLaren drivers, with Zak Brown allowing them to race to the finish. Piastri, on a two-stop strategy, had the performance advantage - but Norris, on a one-stopper, had the advantage of track position. In this podcast, Peter looks back at the key elements not only of that race to the chequered flag but also of the weekend as a whole - at the amazing pole of Charles Leclerc, the dismal pace of Red Bull and the wretched weekend of Sir Lewis Hamilton. Adrian Reynard's motor racing outfit were one of the best in the world during the 1980s and '90s – winning multiple championships across Formula 3000, F3 and IndyCar. Reynard Racing Cars also held an impressive record of winning the first race of every major single-seater competition they entered. But when Adrian helped create the British American Racing F1 team in 1999, expectations were high and that previous success didn't quite translate in the pinnacle of motorsport. Speaking to Tom Clarkson, Adrian tells the fascinating story of BAR - how the team was formed with 1997 World Champion Jacques Villeneuve, why a big falling out with Team Principal Craig Pollock led to Adrian resigning, and how he helped lay the foundations for that team to later become World Champions as Brawn GP and then Mercedes. Adrian reflects on his F1 ventures before BAR as well - including a failed attempt to create his own team in 1990, despite selling his house to fund it, and his experiences with March F1 as a 29-year-old Technical Director in the 1980s. And Adrian also talks about inspiring legendary engineers like Rory Byrne and Pat Symonds, why he had an up-and-down relationship with the late Eddie Jordan, and the small part he played in the car that Michael Schumacher won his first F1 race in. It rained all right - exactly at the time of the scheduled start of the Belgian GP. This being 2025 F1, however, we didn't get a wet race. Instead, the drivers sat around for 75 minutes or so before starting behind a Safety Car on a rapidly-drying track. The pole of McLaren's Lando Norris then disappeared in the time it took for his team-mate, Oscar Piastri, to tow past Lando on the main straight on the first racing lap with an 11kph speed advantage - and thereafter it was Oscar all the way, helped by a slow pit stop for Lando plus two time-consuming Lando errors on hard-compound Pirelli slicks. Charles Leclerc finished a valiant third in his low-downforce Ferrari; Max Verstappen's wet rear wing settings left him a sitting duck on the dry track and a frustrated P4; George Russell finished fifth for Mercedes; and Alex Albon drove beautifully for Williams-Mercedes to hold off Sir Lewis Hamilton's Ferrari for P6-P7. Peter in this podcast looks back at the three days in Spa - at the Sprint pole for Oscar; at the Sprint win for Max; and then the Qualifying pole of Lando. There's lots of detail, too, about the upgrades to the cars as we go into the first part of a double-header before the August break. Max Verstappen won the pole for the British GP - but by Sunday evening that seemed an age away: McLaren-Mercedes scored another easy one-two (or was it a two-one?); Nico Hulkenberg finished a staggering P3 for Sauber-Ferrari; Sir Lewis Hamilton was fourth, thereby losing his 12-year podium streak at Silverstone to the driver who spent more time than any other to break his podium duck - and Max could finish only fifth in a difficult-to-manage Red Bull-Honda. Lando Norris began his race weekend in Austria with headset on, watching Alexander Dunne show his talent in FP1. He then quickly made up for lost time, setting the pace in FP2, taking the pole on Saturday and winning the race on Sunday. Of course, as Peter Windsor describes in this podcast, it was not as simple as that: his team-mate at McLaren-Mercedes, Oscar Piastri, applied pressure throughout the race; and Lando - like many other drivers - was obliged for most of the distance to nurse aero damage on the car. McLaren, though, finished one-two again, with Ferrari crossing the line P3/P4 (with Charles Leclerc ahead of Sir Lewis Hamilton). George Russell was P5 for Mercedes but Red Bull-Honda's Max Verstappen, who qualified only seventh, was eliminated on the first lap when he was t-boned by the Mercedes of Kimi Antonelli. It all happened in qualifying at Monaco - the more so because the new two-pit-stop rule for 2025 also nullified the drivers' ability to manage (or not) the Pirelli tyres. Thus it was a jubilant Lando Norris who won his first Monaco GP, ahead of Ferrari's Charles Leclerc, Lando's team-mate, Oscar Piastri and Red Bull-Honda's Max Verstappen. Sir Lewis Hamilton, who had incurred a three-place grid penalty for impeding, was a distant fifth for Ferrari, ahead of the excellent Racing Bulls-Honda of Isack Hadjar. The rain delivered another F1 thriller in Melbourne, with McLaren-Mercedes' Lando Norris crossing the line to win by only 0.8sec from Red Bull-Honda's Max Verstappen. George Russell and Kimi Antonelli finished P3-P4 for Mercedes and fifth was the excellent Alex Albon (Williams-Mercedes), ahead of Sauber-Ferrari's Nico Hulkenberg and the two, disappointing, Ferraris of Charles Leclerc and Sir Lewis Hamilton. The race was strewn with incident, beginning with Racing Bull-Honda's Isaac Hadjar crashing on the formation lap; Alpine-Renault's Jack Doohan losing control on the straight on the opening lap; Carlos Sainz (Williams-Mercedes) spinning into the barriers due to a Safety Car mode glitch; Aston Martin-Mercedes' Fernando Alonso shunting at high speed on intermediate tyres; and Gabriele Bortoleto (Sauber-Ferrari) and Liam Lawson (Red Bull-Honda) going off-course while running slicks in the semi-wet. In addition, McLaren-Mercedes' Oscar Piastri (who seemed set to finish P2) spun luridly onto the grass and both Leclerc and Antonelli survived quick track-surface spins without damage. The Constructors' World Championship hung in the balance going into Abu Dhabi but McLaren-Mercedes nailed it down with a superlative performance from Lando Norris: he took the pole and dominated the race, leading home the two Ferraris - McLaren's only rivals for the title - by a comfortable margin. Oscar Piastri qualified a strong P2 in the other McLaren but collided with Max Verstappen's Red Bull-Honda at the first corner; he finished P10. The factory Mercedes were fourth and fifth, with Sir Lewis Hamilton (on medium Pirellis) passing George Russell (on the harder tyre) in sight of the flag. In this podcast Peter not only details the three days of Abu Dhabi as they happened but also talks to Mario Isola, Pirelli's Director of motor sport about the 2024 season and the prospects for 2025 and 2026. The hosts talked about the final race of the 2024 F1 season in Abu Dhabi briefly at the start of the show with some masterclass drives from Charles Leclerc and Sir Lewis Hamilton. Scott then walked through the timeline and details of the largest card sale price in Formula 1 history with the PSA 8, Lewis Hamilton SuperFractor Autograph card 1/1 from 2020 Topps Chrome – which sold for over 1 million dollars. What an accomplishment for the F1 card hobby. In this interview with @peterwindsor we discuss Max Verstappen's generational performance in the F1 2024 season, what made it so special and how was Verstappen's fourth championship different to the other three. Was the Brazilian Grand Prix the best drive of Max Verstappen's career or the best wet weather drive ever? What does Verstappen do that is different to other drivers in his response to journalists' criticism of him? How did Lando Norris lose the championship and was Lando Norris more at fault that his team McLaren? Should Zak Brown and Andrea Stella take some responsibility for all of Lando's lost points and will Lando Norris be able to come back stronger in F1 2025? Did Mercedes sabotage Sir Lewis Hamilton in Las Vegas Grand Prix qualifying by having Lewis set his final hot lap in traffic or did Lewis make another costly mistake in qualifying? What does @peterwindsor think about George Russell's comments that Lando Norris should've kept the fight for the F1 drivers' championship going to the very last round and that in F1 2025 George Russell intends to do what Lando Norris could not. @Peter @peterwindsor talks about Charles Leclerc and says whether he thinks Leclerc was justified in his outburt at the Las Vegas Grand Prix and what does Charles need to do to fix this in F1 2025.- become a member -https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCxyxUe_jRskL8xH7n580Ecw/join- where to find me -Twitter: https://twitter.com/CxmeronCcTiktok: https://www.tiktok.com/@cameronf1tvFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/CameronF1TVBusiness Email : cxmeronf1@gmail.com#f1 #formula1 #f1news #f12024 #verstappen #norris #landonorris #hamilton #podcast #mclaren #redbull #ferrari

It was the race when McLaren's Lando Norris closed the gap a little to the championship leader - Red Bull's Max Verstappen. It was the race when Max, for his part, incurred two ten second penalties for his over-zealous driving. It was the race when Norris beautifully beat Ferrari's Charles Leclerc in the closing stages. And it was, withal, the race in which Ferrari's Carlos Sainz started from the pole and basically dominated throughout. His was a classic, classy win - a faultless win in which he even had the perspicacity, on the opening lap, to relinquish the lead to Max after effectively passing him off-track. No matter. Carlos ten minutes later made the clean pass going into Turn One. From then on, his was a race of defence - initially against Max, then against his team-mate, Leclerc, and then, finally, against a fast-closing Norris. Under pressure, Sainz made no mistakes. Which is all the more astonishing given that Ferrari will shortly be dumping Sainz in favour of Sir Lewis Hamilton. No front-line driver in the history of the sport, as Peter says in this podcast, has had to endure that sort of abandonment - not throughout the season long, not when they are still capable of upstaging the other driver AND winning races.Enjoy Peter's podcast, then - from the beginning of untimed practice on Friday, when both Leclerc and Norris were obliged to vacate their seats for newer drivers, to the dramatic, closing moments of a famous Sainz victory. Mercedes had a little bit of luck and a massive amount of improvement over a short span that has now equaled wins in both the Austrian GP and the British Grand Prix. With Max Verstappen and Lando Norris crashing one another out of the Austrian GP, George Russell took advantage and notched Mercedes first win of the season. In an even more historic British GP, Sir Lewis Hamilton was able to outlast both Red Bull and McLaren (with a little help from some poor McLaren strategy) for his 9th win at his home GP and his first win in almost 1000 days. An emotional win for Hamilton, to be sure. Plus, what on earth is happeneing to Checo Perez? Can Lando get within striking distance of Max in the WDC race? Take a listen!!
A very thrilling triple header comes to a close with Silverstone and WHAT a closer it was. The racing, the strategy, the drama! We've had pettiness on the track (not Pierre Gasly literally saying CIAO to Estie Bestie mid-overtake), pettiness in the media pen (Looking at you lil Lando Norris), and the THRILLING comeback of Sir Lewis Hamilton. What an emotional win for Lewis Hamilton in front of his home fans at Silverstone! The 2024 British Grand Prix will go down in memory as one of the most-special races in history. Yes, a British driver won the British Grand Prix for the 30th time in history, but what makes it special is that Hamilton won at home, his 9th such victory, with Mercedes - a team he has actually given up on! Also, Hamilton-Mercedes won on merit. They were the quickest car on-track. Hamilton's "wing" choices on Saturday and the track temperatures on Sunday played a vital role in his 104th career win in Formula 1. And of course, Hamilton's impeccable driving in mixed weather conditions, too. It was heartwarming to see the British fans join Hamilton's family in celebrating this win - one that took 56 races to come. Hamilton becomes the first and only driver with over 300 starts to score a race win in Formula 1. In this episode of the Inside Line F1 Podcast, Soumil Arora, @f1statsguru and Kunal Shah re-live the magical British Grand Prix. Were you also surprised when Red Bull Racing weren't the quickest across the changing track conditions? Also, were you surprised when McLaren decided to "invent" race strategy than stick to the norm? George Russell's retirement, Nico Hulkenberg's mega points score for Haas and several other stories and facts from the 2024 British Grand Prix. Tune in!
