Josh Plunkett is a son, a sibling, an entrepreneur, a business owner, a photographer, a videographer, and a world traveler. He's a guy that has figured out a thing or two about his allotment of time on this planet, and he's also my guest for Episode No. 130.Our streams crossed paths somewhere in the Instagram world, and -- speaking of -- you can find him/his work there in not one, not two, but three places. You can also check out his handsome Web site, on which you might find yourself inclined to buy a print, hire him for a shoot, or even rent his space.Josh was kind enough to give me a chunk of one of his Tuesday evenings a couple of months ago, and self-aware enough to warn me that he has no qualms going long in the discussion department. Little did he know that that was just fine with me.Our conversation was fascinating and worth me not spoiling too much of it before you get in there and check it out for yourself. I will say, however, that we talked a bit about family, self-exploration, the human experience and what it can sometimes look and feel like out there amongst the others. And of course we had a peek at a few of Josh's favorite records. Those were these:Pulp Fiction: Music from the Motion Picture Soundtrack (1994)Korn, self-titled (1994)Microworlds (2023), CloZeeGive Josh's work a peek and give him a follow, if you're so inclined. He may be the right fit for your photoshoot wishes, your studio-space needs, or your longing for travel. And don't forget to check out the Merch' store on the Web site. It might be a good place for you to get an early start on your holiday lists.Cheers.copyright disclaimer: I do not own the rights to the audio samples contained within this episode. They are cuts from a single called, "Shooting Stars," by Bag Raiders. It's a 2009 number that was maybe only digitally released via both the single format and the EP format (which features three other variations of the tune), but made its way to our ears c/o Bang Gang 12s, under exclusive license to Modular Recordings.

Today on One Song the ultimate pop music dichotomy: It's a record that is simultaneously huge. But also very niche. The chances are you know the breezy synth pop masterpiece, Walking on a Dream. But how much do you know about Empire of the Sun, the duo who made that song? Probably not a lot. Diallo Riddle and LUXXURY are here to right that wrong. The duo will also take you on a tour of 2000s synth pop, and break down the making of the Pnau remix of Cold Cold Heart (it ties in! We promise!).Artist: Empire of the SunAlbum: Walking on a DreamReleased: 2008Genres: Alternative/Indie, Dance/Electronic, Pop, New AgeFeatured songs: With You Forever by PNAU, Tell The Girls That I'm Not Hangin' Out, Embrace by PNAU, We Are The People by Empire of the Sun, Future by Cut Copy, Shadows by Midnight Juggernauts, Shooting Stars by Bag Raiders, Into the Galaxy by Midnight Juggernauts, UFO by Sneaky Sound System, Rocket Man by Elton John, Twilight by Electric Light Orchestra, Kiss The Bride by Elton John, The Last Seduction by LUXXURY, Cold Heart by Elton John with Dua Lipa and PNAU, Where's The Shoorah by Elton John, He Not In by Chicken Lips.

Life moves pretty fast. Despite that, we all found times for a few games that we weren't playing for other podcasts this month, and time enough to sit down to talk about them. This year has seen Jen finally coming to appreciate baseball, and by extension baseball video games in MLB The Show 23. Kyrie has fallen for familiar comforts under friendly names by plugging her friends into Etrian Odyssey V: Beyond the Myth. And Six has been playing Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker and frowning at it... and reading the announcement for Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail, and SCREAMING at it. In chronological order, our music is 8bit23 by Koichi Morita, The Real Thing from MLB The Show 19 by Cook Classics featuring Outasight, Shooting Stars by Bag Raiders, The Handed Down Name from Etrian Odyssey V: Beyond the Myth by Yuzo Koshiro, Prelude - Tales from Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker by Masayoshi Soken, and then a reprise of 8bit23 by Koichi Morita. You can find us on Twitter at @jbu3 for Jen, @KyrieAPage for Kyrie, and @sixdettmar for Six.

Humans and animals have interacted since forever, and anyone who has a pet will tell you that they make our lives better. But they also have lives, communities and feelings of their own that we'll never fully understand. This week we bring you some cute, quirky and wholesome stories of humans getting close to animals. We had the pleasure of interviewing TWO LANES and Panama over Zoom video! We invite you to watch the official music video for ‘Rolling Back,' the intercontinental collab between Berlin's TWO LANES and Australia's Panama. Directed by filmmaker Matthew Thorne, the film adds a striking visual narrative to the song's smooth and classy musical groove. The film is about the many artists who have performed in Berlin and perhaps even called it home for a while. It was shot during a time when those performances and that life of the city hasn't been possible. When it comes to the story behind the song, being huge fans of Panama's music, it was an easy decision for TWO LANES to include him on this unbelievable track. Leo, Rafa, and Jarrah share very similar backgrounds which helped them all to work together to create this soothing and delicate piece. This is just the start of TWO LANES and Panama's collaborative journey. “Rolling Back” has opened the doors to an endless amount of possibilities and provides creative freedom that the three are ready to pursue and explore for the years to come. Be on the lookout for TWO LANES forthcoming ‘Reflections EP” - released June 18 on bitbird. About TWO LANES Perfectly balancing live instruments, analog synthesizers and electronic sounds, Berlin-based siblings TWO LANES started making indie-electronic music in 2018 as their outlet of an always evolving stream of ideas and their love for music. While Rafa has always been more into electronic music and music production, Leo was classically trained at The Juilliard School in New York City, which can be both heard and seen back in the live versions they make of their songs, their music, and the wide variety genres they produce. When graduating, the brothers decided to move to Berlin because of the city's dynamic and young art scene. TWO LANES released their latest EP ‘Lights' in 2020 on bitbird, which was highly successful, garnering over 25 million streams and counting across platforms. About Panama Warmth, nostalgia, and melody: that's the sound of Panama. As a singer, songwriter, producer, and instrumentalist, Jarrah McCleary has the rare ability to blend both live and electronic sounds in his music. It's also a skill that allows him to paint every element in his songs, from the moment he first sits down at the piano to the final touches in the studio. 2021 has seen Jarrah work on collaborations with a number of artists across genres and all over the world. Most recently working with Ben Bohmer, Ta-ku, Satin Jackets, Pluko, Petit Biscuit, Poolside, and Bag Raiders. We want to hear from you! 2021 is a comeback year for Ladyhawke (‘Pip' Brown) with her single ‘Guilty Love', collaboration with BROODS topping Triple J's most played list and clocking over 1 Million streams. Now the follow up single ‘Mixed Emotions' is released today, the second single from her anticipated forthcoming album TIME FLIES, which will be released on Friday, October 8.Pip says about the new single, “Mixed Emotions was written with old mates Jono Sloan and Nick Littlemore while I was on a writing trip in LA. Sloan had come up with a really cool bass groove which Nick and I riffed over to get the lyrics and melody. The song is about all the things you can feel with one person, sometimes all in a single day. Ups and downs, confusion, highs, and lows. And everything in between!”The past year has also felt like a rebirth to Pip. After several years of challenging health issues (including post-natal depression and being diagnosed and treated for skin cancer), when she embarked on writing songs for this new record in 2019, there was a sense of freedom in the work. “I was feeling pretty grateful to be alive and making music, so I felt like I didn't ‘care' anymore - not in a bad way, I just stopped over thinking it.”She also started regular therapy towards the end of 2019 and continued to see her therapist via Zoom throughout the pandemic, and also began taking medication for the first time, all of which contributed to her positive outlook. “I've had depression and anxiety for a long time and always been really open about it. I started therapy in Nov 2019 regularly. I had reached the bottom, I realised I needed help, and I was recommended someone through a friend, who was used to talking to artists and creative people.“It felt like last year I changed my whole life. I decided to try medication for the first time, and it turned everything around and made me feel like a haven't in a long time. My mum said she hasn't seen me like this since I was 17.”With the above-mentioned collaborations with Littlemore and Sloan, Pip has also formed strong bonds with a number of other collaborators such as LA songwriter and producer Tommy English (K.Flay, Carly Rae Jepsen, Kacey Musgraves, Adam Lambert, Broods etc); Auckland based Josh Fountain (Leisure, Benee) and Jeremy Toy (Leonard Charles, She's So Rad) and Sydney's Chris Stracey (Bag Raiders, Paloma Faith, Diplo.) The pandemic may have made it more challenging to collaborate, but Pip embraced the new ways of working and the result is for all to hear on TIME FLIES.The lockdown also encouraged Pip to join Twitch. It was a revelation, to be able to connect and find a true sense of community in an online world that has previously always been very daunting and confrontational. Twitch has provided a safe way to communicate and reach out to likeminded people such as fellow Twitch artists Shura, K.Flay and Woodes. TIME FLIES, due out October 8 on BMG, is an extraordinary collection that fuses intimate subject matter and upbeat guitar-led rock with irresistibly catchy electronic elements. If a new single and album isn't enough good news for fans, a three-date NZ tour has also been announced, which will see Ladyhawke bring TIME FLIES to life across stages in Wellington, Christchurch and Auckland this October. Pip expressed, “This is honestly something I could not see happening for ages, so here it is!! I am doing some shows!! I hope to see you all soon!!” Presented by Eccles Entertainment, tickets for Ladyhawke's TIME FLIES tour go on sale at 12pm, Friday June 4 from https://ladyhawkemusic.com

2010 was a big year for bangers. The Australian dance music scene in particular, was thriving. Stalwarts like The Presets and Cut Copy were kicking it, and a new breed of beat makers were coming up, soundtracking hedonistic summer days and big festival party nights. This was the year Bag Raiders released their debut album, and on it's 10th anniversary I invited the duo to Take 5 and go back. Jack and Chris joined me for the final Take 5 for Ausmusic Month, and so I thought it'd be fun to stay local, and celebrate the incredible talent in our own backyard. Episode 012 - Fat Logic, Shooting Stars, & Short Episode Excuses This episode goes on record as being the shortest episode we've ever released. We decided to try a new format in this episode where the entire show was based around a central theme. Not derailing and staying more directly on topic means we need to bring far more prepared content to the show. Nonetheless, the conversations we do have are top notch, and we hope you enjoy.
