Campbell Brown is a former AFL Premiership player and All Australian playing 205 games for Hawthorn and Gold Coast. He was the first Australian Kabaddi captain and is a current TV & Radio personality.  What a laugh it was sitting down with the "Brown Dog" as he's affectionately known and cover a range of his career and passions in his life. Which he mentions is footy, his mates, punting and drinking!  Browny shares the incredible story of selling one of his horses to the Queen of England and the tough negotiations she put the boys through!  We hear about the story behind his inaugural captaincy of Australia in Kabaddi and the hilarious story of their first tour!  We talk about his footy career, but more importantly the leadership challenges he faced at The Gold Coast Suns and the reasons he made the move up North. We hear about the AFL drug/party culture, playing with Gary Ablett Junior, time trials and of course suspensions!  Plus, the infamous Chris Judd eye gauge story.  In a more vulnerable side of Campbell, we hear about the impact of the death of his great mate Shane Warne and how he dealt with grief.  Show and Tell and the Mystery Box return that ignite some unreal stories you need to hear to believe!  Overall, Browny is just a great bloke and the guy you saw on the footy field, is so different to the person off field.  Sit back and enjoy the one and only, Campbell Brown.    Follow Campbell on Instagram @browndog_30x    This episode is brought to you by Fleet Plant Hire Solutions. Graig Morin and Joe Lynch discuss driving the mission. Graig is the Co-Founder and President of Brown Dog Carriers & Logistics. Graig and the Brown Dog team are big supporters of the Wreaths Across America.  About Graig Morin  Graig was born and raised in Biddeford, Maine. Shortly after high school, Graig began investing in truck driving.  This investment transpired in 1998, after a road trip from Maine to Arizona with a few friends.  While on the trip, he knew that the trucking industry was his passion and lifelong desire.   Since 1998, Graig has been fully involved in the transportation industry.  His career has varied from working on loading docks to hauling general freight.  He has also hauled heavy equipment across the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic Regions.  Graig has safely operated tractor trailers of all types, logging over 1.5 million miles. In 2010, Graig met the love of his life, Christine, and her four-legged side kick, Lily.  Lily is a chocolate Labrador Retriever who travels with Graig every day in the truck (she has logged 500,000 herself). Graig and Christine married soon after and since then have been blessed with three healthy boys. For the past 19 years, Graig has dreamed of owning and operating a driver friendly transportation and logistics company.  He has spent countless hours studying the industry and all of its workings.  Graig attends Many industry related conferences and seminars to help continue his knowledge of this ever-changing industry.   In January of 2017, Graig and Christine decided it was time to build the family-friendly transport company that Graig had been dreaming about for decades. With the guidance from the co-owners of Aventure Management, Brown Dog Carriers and Logistics was born. Graig also serves as the Vice President of the Maine Professional Drivers Association, Member of the Truckload Carriers Association and American Trucking Association. About Brown Dog BROWN DOG CARRIERS AND LOGISTICS is the realization of a dream by Co-Founder and President - Graig Morin to utilize his years of trucking and logistics experience with his unwavering commitment to service and provide transportation solutions for his customers. Graig takes a pragmatic entrepreneurial approach to helping solve your transportation needs. He has been a truck driver all of his professional life so he also understands the complexities of transport and how important it is to have top drivers handling your freight. BROWN DOG is located in Biddeford Maine and is able to work with clients in all parts of the USA.  With more than 100 years of experience in the shipping business, we have made a lot of connections. We used our knowledge of the industry and wealth of experience to begin moving freight using our trusted network of partners. This gave us the opportunity to develop a solid supply chain to move your freight all over America and become a true solutions provider. About Wreaths Across America Wreaths Across America is an American nonprofit organization established in 2007 by wreath producer Morrill Worcester, assisted by veterans and truckers. Subsequent National Wreaths Across America Days have been designated on the second or third Saturday of December. What began in 1992 with a trailer load of wreaths, decorated by volunteers and laid at the graves of fallen soldiers at Arlington National Cemetery has now become a national organization with over 3,700 participating locations – all focused on the mission to REMEMBER the fallen; HONOR those who serve; TEACH our children the value of freedom. Kathleen opens the show drinking a Raygun IPA from Backpocket Brewing in Coralville, IA. She talks about the highlights of her weekend in Iowa City, Des Moines, and Kansas City including meeting Justin Bieber's Tour Manager at the hotel in Des Moines and shopping at her favorite Raygun store. She then reviews her Kansas City Sunday lunch at the downtown Arthur Bryant's location in Kansas City.“GOOD BAD FOOD”: In her quest for new and delicious not-so-nutritious junk food AND in continuing her search for the best Ranch, Kathleen samples Better Made's Special Salt & Vinegar chips, which she rates a B+ and loves the vinegar content. She moves on to try Hidden Valley Ranch Secret Sauce, which is sweet and tangy, and she thinks would be fantastic on chicken fingers. She finishes her tasting with Iowa's own Brown Dog's Farm Habanero Peach hot sauce, which scorches her mouth and makes her laugh out loud. QUEEN'S COURT: Kathleen read an article where Queen Stevie Nicks announces that the person with whom is her “favorite person to sing with” is Natalie Maines from The Chicks (The Dixie Chicks). The two artists first crossed in 2002 when The Chicks covered Fleetwood Mac's ‘Landslide', and they eventually had the chance to perform it together, which was an unforgettable moment for Nicks.UPDATES: Kathleen gives updates on the oldest person in the world, and the status of Anna Delvey's deportation fight.“HOLY SHIT THEY FOUND IT”: Kathleen is amazed to read about the discovery of a 1,500-year-old knife once owned by a Norwegian reindeer hunter, and a 12,500-year-old sphinx in Pakistan. KINDERGARTEN HAPPY HOUR: Kathleen laughs out loud when reading an article about a Michigan Kindergarten class who accidentally consumed tequila during snack time. One of the kids brought a bottle of ready-to-drink Jose Cuervo margaritas in her backpack, and several students drank it. One kindergartner "felt woozy" and a "little dizzy" after having four or five sips from a Dixie cup, which prompted the teachers to investigate.CNN PLUS FOLDS AFTER ONE MONTH: Kathleen can't believe it when she reads an announcement that CNN's news app CNN Plus is folding after only 1 month of activity. CNN+ was launched on 29 March in an attempt to bring in revenues from news streaming subscriptions, and even though the company spent as much as $300m on developing the service it got off to a slow start, attracting just 10,000 viewers a day, according to reports.Kathleen reads the list of contributors from news reporters to celebrity chefs, stating that the only “food” show that she watches religiously is Trisha Yearwood's “Trisha's Southern Kitchen.” NETFLIX STOCK PLUNGES AFTER SUBSCRIBER PURGE: Kathleen laughs when reading an article advising that Netflix stock has plunged 35% after announcing that password sharing on accounts was no longer going to be tolerated. She wonders aloud that “didn't they KNOW we were sharing accounts?” Netflix said it expected to lose two million global subscribers in the current quarter.ELON BUYS TWITTER AND PLANS TO COLONIZE MARS: Kathleen is fascinated by Elon Musk's business moves, and is thrilled to read that he has successfully become the majority shareholder of Twitter. With some of his remaining riches, he's planning to colonize Mars, warning that life on that planet will be dangerous, cramped, and difficult. MEET THE WORLD'S OLDEST DOG: Kathleen is amused to read that the world's oldest living dog is a chihuahua named Toby Keith. TIKTOK CHILDREN VS DOLLAR GENERAL: Kathleen applauds reading an article about a Dollar General manager named Mary who created a viral video detailing the difficulties involved in running one of their stores.WHAT TO WATCH THIS WEEK: Kathleen recommends watching “Basquait” on Amazon Prime. Between the Old English Garden and the bank of the River Thames, there is a statue of a dog. This statue was erected in the park in 1985, commissioned by British anti-vivisection groups, but to meet the dog it depicts, we have to look back over a century. This essay, and the dog it is about, explore Britain as a nation of animal lovers and shows how urban space can become a landscape where we fight for others, including other animals.

Yesterday Jamie came into my room crying that Jim Moore was being hateful to her.  Because of Daniel Capiro she and Jim Moore have been at each other's throats since last year.  I am usually there at feeding time to referee, but since I have been spending my evenings with Richard Martin, they have been going at each other pretty steadily.   Jamie said I never defend her and that she has to work so hard for me and these animals and then put up with being called names by volunteers and getting no respect from them.  I cried with her.  I do ask way too much of her.  I wrote Jim Moore a letter telling him to knock it off or get out.  I was depressed when I met with Richard Martin and as I came through his office door, he handed me two bouquets of soft peach coloured roses.  One was for me and the other for Jamie.  I almost cried.   In his helpful, if not overbearing way, he commenced to telling me everything I should say to her.  He asked why I laughed and I explained; because that was exactly, almost verbatim, what I had said to her.  It is so weird how we respond so similarly to situations.  I had bought Air Purifiers for his office and the lake house and the condo, because the dust is so bad I can't breathe in these places.   He kept saying he wanted to pay for them but I told him he could pay for the electricity to run them and I would pay for the units, since I was the only one benefitting from them.  He got really adamant about paying for it so I told him he could donate the amount to the cats and he did on one unit.   We went to the California Club where he told the valet that he usually parked right by the door and was allowed to do so.  He insists that he rarely comes here and that he pulls that sort of thing just to see if he can get away with it.  The people there were older and just as “plastic” as the younger set we watched at Stormin's.  All these people looking for love in all the wrong places.  He pointed out to me the sort of women he would be attracted to and it made me wonder what on earth he saw in me.   They were petite and conservative to the point of boring.  Petite, I understand.  Every man I have ever known wanted a woman he could carry under one arm.  (It must go back to the cave man mentality.)  Conservative is another issue altogether.  He likes to be high profile, noticed and remembered.  He said when he dies there will be a provision in his will that pays mourners to wail for his passing so that it will be the biggest funeral of all time.  As someone who is often in the spotlight, I am thankful that when I am with him, it is on him.  I can relax when I don't feel like every word out of my mouth is subject to end up on the front page of the Metro section of the St. Pete Times.   Speaking of which, at the Brown Dog later that evening I ordered the lamb, which happened to be the same thing the man at the table next to me had ordered.  Richard Martin, always quick to converse with people he doesn't know, asked the man what fine dining experience he would compare the Brown Dog to.  They went from there to a discussion about real estate developing and politics and they came to find out they knew each other by name although not by sight.   The guy's name was George ? and he is the attorney for the St. Pete Times and a developer of commercial real estate in downtown St. Pete.   He owns the building next to my Anderson House, the Kress building and apparently quite a few renovated old buildings.  We went from there to have a drink at Bennigan's.  I had already had my one wine limit so Richard Martin ordered a double Gin and Tonic.   We finished the discussion on swinging that we had started last week and I believe he understands how I feel about it.  He said that, of course, he would not offer me a smoke or a drink or anything else that would cause me to fall.  He said that he was only making an observation about the gay woman from the Farm Store and that in no way did he mean it as a suggestion that I should do anything.  I am glad that we can talk things out like this.   He asked me if Don were to show back up tomorrow, would I go back to him as his wife.  I hadn't thought too much about “what if….” and found myself talking about it and thinking it through out loud.  He seemed agitated that I couldn't give him a quick and definite answer but he conceded that I should think it through before answering.  He asked if given what I know about Don now to be true, if I still love him, and I couldn't answer that very well either.   After much thought and discussion I answered him truthfully and with conviction that I would take care of Don financially, but that given his indiscretions, I was under no obligation to give him my love, nor myself in marriage.  As to if I love him; I loved him, and for that reason alone would I continue to provide for him, but no more would I sacrifice myself.   He asked for all of these answers based upon my life not including Richard Martin and these were the answers I would give whether Richard Martin were in my life or not.   I know that it is because of knowing Richard Martin though, that I could come to these conclusions, because before him I did not believe that a good man was something that actually existed.  I might have settled for being married to Don because I would not have looked outside of our relationship for anyone who would love me without hurting me.   Today Richard Martin is going with Zena Lansky to the Rolls Royce Club which is meeting at the Aquarium.  She asked him to drive because she is afraid of scratching the Rolls.  She won't even visit him at the lake house because of the dust and everything he tells me about her is negative.  She is Jewish, head strong, self righteous, prissy and volatile.  Then he tells me that she has planned the month of October for the two of them and that every time they go out, all he can think about is when he'll be able to call me.  This sounds an awful lot like Don's excuses with Pam Enriquez.   For four years Don kept telling me that he really didn't love her, that their relationship was soon to end, but it dragged on for four years because Don said he didn't want to hurt her feelings.  Hindsight being 20/20 I guess that goes to show that he cared more about not hurting her, than hurting me.   I have encouraged Richard Martin to see this thing through because when I do ask him for a commitment, I don't want him to have any regrets.  I wondered last night if I was being honest with myself.  Richard Martin observed that I have been masochistic in my relationships and have always sacrificed self for the other party's desires.  He said it is human nature to take advantage of any given situation and that he doesn't want to take advantage of me just because I will let him.  Am I encouraging him to continue to hurt me because this continues my pattern, or do I really believe it is the best thing for us in the long run?   What is the alternative?  I cannot seek other partners because of my beliefs.  If I demand his exclusive attention then won't I be asking too much, too soon?   I've been writing my story since I was able to write, but when the media goes to share it, they only choose the parts that fit their idea of what will generate views.  If I'm going to share my story, it should be the whole story.  The titles are the dates things happened. Richard Martin asked me to be screened again for HIV and sexually transmitted diseases.  I had done so after Don left and should be tested every six months.  He offered to pay for it, but it is something I need to do anyway.  I bought the sound track from the Titanic, “Love Will Go On” sung by Celine Dion because he says he loves it so much.  I was thinking on the way home, listening to the tape that I think of him in every love song.  One in particular, “The Reason” should be dedicated to him.   I've thought a lot about our discussion regarding the swinging lifestyle and concluded that if he wants to experience it in his lifetime, it should be now, but not with me.  As a recovering alcoholic what kind of person would he be to coax me into a drink?  As an ex-smoker what kind of person would blow smoke in my face and tell me just a time or two won't hurt?  As a Christian woman with strong homosexual desires what kind of person would encourage me to violate God's law and my own conscience?  If satisfying a fantasy is more important than my soul then there isn't much value to my soul.   He called me tonight to tell me that his tenant who rents the Farm Store is a very beautiful bi-sexual swinger.  Why call and tell me that other than in an attempt to pique my curiosity and hopefully arrange for himself a threesome?  As if to try and run me off he canceled our dinner tonight, saying I was probably too busy and that he had to spend time with Patty.  He said he wants to see me Thursday because he has a date with Zena, the doctor, Wednesday as well.   I was crushed.  This is what I asked for but it hurts nonetheless.  Jamie came in and jammed my copier and I snapped at her.  She asked why the sudden moodiness and I realized I was behaving toward her the same way I did when Don had me on edge.  I am not going to put her through that hell again.  No man's affection is worth this roller coaster ride.   I fed the cats and cooled off.  Maybe he just doesn't know God's Word, although I thought everyone knew the story of Sodom and Gomorra.  1 Corinthians Chapter 6: Verse 9 says “Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God?  Do not be deceived:  Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders, nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.”  The inspired writer goes on in verse 18 to say “Flee from sexual immorality.  All other sins a man commits are outside his body, but he who sins sexually sins against his own body.  Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, who you have received from God?  You are not your own;  you were bought at a price.  Therefore honor God with your body.”   It gets even worse in Revelations Chapter 21 Verse 8 when God says “But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars- their place will be in the fiery lake of burning sulfur.”      Proverbs 30: 5 says “Every word of God is flawless; he is a shield to those who take refuge in him.  Do not add to his words, or he will rebuke you and prove you a liar.”     Surely I cannot have been so wrong about what a loving man he is.  He wouldn't purposely hurt me.   As much as I study the Word, I couldn't find until last night with Mommajack at church the passage that commands my attendance in church three times a week.  The scripture actually says we are not to forsake the assembly of brethren and that is subject to the days and times the brethren choose, which is at our convenience, with the exception of the commandment to meet on the Lord's Day and take communion.  It is in Hebrews Chapter 10 verse 25 and I looked it up in my Greek translation to make sure the wording was correct:  “Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but encouraging  one another; and so much more, as ye see the Day is approaching.  For if we sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for our sins, but a certain fearful looking for judgment and fiery indignation.”   Wednesday he asked if I would meet him for lunch at the Brown Dog.  He had one of his tenant hair stylist cut my hair, then we went to Radio Shack to pick up a mini recorder and then to Salvation Army where we bought clothes, for him, me, Jamie and Les, and then to the Brown Dog for an awesome lunch.  David the ex-attorney who works for him joined us and they both gave opposing advice as to how to handle the Mindy Harrell bite.   He asked me if his dating made me jealous and I told him it does.  He asked why I don't say so, and I told him I am in no position to say anything about it.  Not being able to be with him last night and knowing that I wouldn't be able to be with him tonight, I was so happy that he suggested this afternoon meeting.  As I was leaving he said he wished we had time to go to the condo but that we both had work to do.  I was impressed that he didn't invite me over for that reason alone and skip all the fun we had instead.  I wanted him sexually, but feared that my reason was tainted by wanting to control (eliminate) his sexuality with his date tonight.   I've been writing my story since I was able to write, but when the media goes to share it, they only choose the parts that fit their idea of what will generate views.  If I'm going to share my story, it should be the whole story.  The titles are the dates things happened. Richard Martin called me on his way to the office.  He said that they had talked a lot and that he had fallen asleep while she was still talking.  I envisioned the meat knife in the food prep room; the one that can cut through a chunk of beef with just one effortless stroke.  I felt the knife sink deep into my heart.  It's strange that such a physical pain in the organ of the heart can be felt when the thought process is in the brain.  Why didn't it feel like the blade was crashing through my brain?   I knew this was going to hurt, but I wasn't prepared for the intensity.  I was choking on the “blood” gushing from my severed heart and into my lungs.  I couldn't speak.  When I finally did, I had to change the subject.  I didn't want to cry and give away to him how much this hurt.  He is too kind to inflict such injury and I fear he would forego doing the things he needs to do, or worse yet lie to me about it.  I hope that I can cope better with this as time goes on.  Today was going to be an test of that endurance because he had told me weeks ago that another woman, he used to work with,  had asked him to go to the Janet Jackson concert with him tonight, and then Patty was acting out her fatal attraction for him and wanted his attention tonight as well.   Around mid day he told me that he'd like to have an early dinner with me and then he would go with Patty and Tom Butler to the game and then he'd go to the concert.  I met him for dinner at 5:45 and we ate at the Brown Dog.  They were fully reserved so we ate before anyone was due to arrive and the Mahi Mahi was just wonderful.  Afterwards we returned to his office and were reading over Trust documents and Insurance policies and trusts.  I had been there for a couple hours and asked when I should be out of there so that I didn't upset Patty and Richard said he had canceled everything.  I felt touched and yet guilty.  Had I let him know somehow how I felt?  Had he denied himself for my sake?  How am I ever going to be able to convince him that I am okay with his dating? It's hard to sell something you don't believe in.   Later on he introduced me to his long time friend, Tom Butler.  We met at Hooters and they ate chicken wings and watched the ball game.  Tom brought me up to speed on Richard's past life.  The only woman who Richard had ever said had broken his heart was Mary.  Mary's best friend was Becky, who was Tom's great love as well.  Tom talked at length about all the good times the four of them had together and what wonderful women they were.  This was more than 10 years ago, but the affection was still very strong.   When we left there Richard and I went to Storman's to watch the people.  We sat outside and sharing our observations  about the people who were coming and going at midnight.  I am so grateful that I don't have to go through the silly pretenses that the general public does in search of love.  Are any of these people happy?  All the pretty girls, showing off their best features, hoping to lure “Mr. Right” and all the males sniffing around for a bitch in heat.  There's not much in store for either party.   This was a great opportunity to get to know Richard better.  His casual observations about people and events tell me a lot about his thought process.  Even though we were sitting there taking inventory of all of the mini skirts, skin tight dresses and miracle bras, there was nothing lewd in his manner.  Rather than seeing this as a sensual fashion show, he seemed to approach it more like I do.  I see the outward presentation as a reflection of the person and I try to discover the whys that brought them to this place and time.  That's not to say you can judge a book by its cover, but I think there are valid clues there.   We witnessed the tail end of a bar room brawl that ended up in the parking lot and had an interesting "argument” over how it should have been handled.  In typical fashion, I waited for him to give me a clue of what his stance would be and then I launched into the opposing point of view.  We debated this pretty adamantly before I felt like I had pushed him far enough and conceded.   I've been writing my story since I was able to write, but when the media goes to share it, they only choose the parts that fit their idea of what will generate views.  If I'm going to share my story, it should be the whole story.  The titles are the dates things happened. This was my letter to David Karp at the St. Pete Times (813) 226-3352   You asked what was still being done to find Don and probably the most notable, I didn't even mention because I see it every day.  The poster of Don and Nyla (leopard) that we distributed for months following his disappearance was also circulated in Costa Rica and is still in the windows of my car, our house keeper's car, my daughter's car and many of our volunteers.  After you left, I looked around the parking lot at all of the signs and couldn't believe I didn't think to mention them.    It has been a year ago today that Don' disappeared without a trace.  Not a single clue has surfaced that can even answer the question “Is he dead or alive?”   I believe if he could be home, he would be here.  Were he homeless or in a facility, we would have found him by now.  He wouldn't be sitting idly by and letting attorneys eat up everything he worked for, so he can't be hiding.  I miss him so much.   Radar compiled a list of my phone messages and one was from Richard Martin.  Could this be THE Richard?  I was breathless.  All the message said was that he was returning my call.  That could be anybody about any thing.  Was it him?  The message had come almost a week ago and not given to me until today.  Would he think I was rude, or worse yet, fickle?  I couldn't wait to call him and yet was nearly paralyzed with fear.   I cleared my office, locked the door, took a few deep breaths and dialed.   Talking to Richard was like talking to an old friend.  I liked everything about him.  He reminded me of me.  Not only his interests and experiences, but his attitudes and beliefs mirrored my own.  I wanted to meet him because I wanted to talk to him, face to face.  It didn't matter what he looked like although he assured me that he had his own teeth and hair, as if it mattered.  I didn't ask him how old he was because I liked him so much that it didn't matter.  I have never liked being around young men, but even if he had been a young person, I don't think I would've cared.   He could've had two heads, but by the time I actually met him, I liked him so much I figured I could get used to it.  He suggested we meet on Thursday, August 20.   On Thursday he called and suggested we meet at Dagwood's but I misunderstood and drove to Dog Water's.  I went in and waited, but he didn't show.  Fifteen minutes went by and I had asked every man in the bar if his name was Richard and all of them said they wished it were, or they'd change it if that's what I wanted.  When the page came through, I couldn't find a phone.  My cell phone was dead, the one down the block had been ripped out of the wall and I finally asked to borrow the merchant's phone.   We retraced our steps to see how we could have been mistaken and finally agreed to meet at Skipper's Smokehouse.  When I drove up I saw a man standing out front, but immediately dismissed this as possibly being Richard, because I was expecting the two headed guy that was going to make this attraction such a challenge for me.   As I walked up I could tell by the way he looked at me that it was him.  This was too good to be true!   It was late and we virtually had the place to ourselves.  The more I learned about him, the more I liked him.  Being somewhat compulsive by nature and not too shy, I struggled with the overpowering desire to kiss him on the lips and ask where he had been all my life.  We asked all of the “get to know you questions” and I learned that he is the older of two children.  He described his sister as “beautiful”.  He said his father died too soon at 51 and that his mother was still alive and living in St. Pete.   He said that he had been a Councilman for St. Pete for two consecutive terms, but that he was usually the one who was against the politicians and for the people when it came time to vote.  His vote was not for sale to the wining and dining upper crust, which made him pretty unpopular among the political crowd, but wildly popular with the  people who elected him.  He told me that he had been a bachelor until he was 40 or so before he married but that after ten years he caught her in bed with his friend and divorced her.  He said that even though their marriage lacked “TLC” that he had never strayed and that he would've worked things out with her, had she tried, but she was in love with his friend and love was something that they had never really shared.  He said the sex was good, but that there just wasn't any tenderness.  No kissing or stroking,  none of the important stuff.   Everything inside me wanted to say “I will give you the tender loving kindness that you need!”  “I would be everything your heart desires, to have a man who was faithful to me!”  “I would never let you down or run around on you!”, but I kept my mouth shut.  One of the things I hate most about men is how within moments of meeting me they are telling me this sort of stuff and trying to get me in bed.  I couldn't say the things that were racing through my mind without making him wonder what kind of desperate nut case I am.  Besides, I am not free to say such things.  I am still a married woman and could be for at least another four years.   He was in a hurry to meet his new housekeeper who was going to be up at the lake house.  I thought about Don's interviews.  I felt jealous.  A live in housekeeper would have the benefit of being around him all the time.  She would be someone who could give him what he needed.  She would be easily accessible and very enamored by this wonderful man.  With all my money and obligations, I couldn't request the position.    He walked me around back to my truck, but stopped short.  He wasn't going to try and kiss me?  Now I really liked him!  As I drove away, I wondered, “Is he being respectful of me as a person, or did he not want to kiss me?”  He seemed to like me well enough, but he had such an easy temperament that maybe he was just being nice.  I wondered if he would ever call again.   The next day, Friday Aug. 21 he did and asked if I'd like to meet him at Bleachers to hear a comedian.  When I got there I walked past a gold Mercedes convertible coup and thought to myself that I wished I could bring myself to spend money on such a cute little “toy”.  I work so hard, but can't bring myself to splurge on luxury.  We listened to the comedian and were painfully observant of each other.  He was concerned that the comedian was too crude and I was concerned that he would think I wasn't enjoying myself because I don't get hysterical.  We were supposed to meet some friends of his that night, but I was glad to have the time alone with him.  I just couldn't learn enough about him.  After the show he asked if I'd like to go hear some jazz.  Lucky guess that it's my favourite sort of music?  He walked me out to that cute little Mercedes and I was just beside myself over the fact that it was his.  Cars don't' impress me much, but it was the idea "I have worked hard and I'm going to enjoy the fruits of my labours”.  The very attitude that I would like to embrace but have been too frugal to accept.  When he later walked me to my car, he kissed me.  It was a tender, friendly, almost timid kiss that said to me, “I like you and want to let you know, but I don't expect anything more”.   Saturday and Sunday I was tied up all day with Dateline NBC filming a piece about the Bed and Breakfast we offer with the cats.  Sunday the St. Pete Times ran a story on Don's one year anniversary of his disappearance.  Aug. 25, Tuesday Richard asked me to come eat at The Brown Dog in the building next to his.  It was so late by the time I got there that we had Sushi instead.  I was determined to never put raw fish in my mouth, but he made me want to try it.  I liked it actually.  I had a generator in the back of my pick up to deliver to my Dad the following day for his birthday, so Richard asked his tenant at the Save A Step convenience store to keep an eye on it.  When we came back for my truck he asked if I'd like to go see his condo, and before I could answer, he retracted and said, “Never mind.  It's late and you need to go.”  It was late and I did need to go, but I didn't want to.  I wanted to be welcomed into his home but I also feared that he would ask more of me than was mine to give and I feared worse that I wouldn't be able to resist him.   This full page ad is run gratis by Fred Timby, owner of the Hillsborough County Hot Sheet and the Pasco County Hotsheet, twice a month in both of his Breaking news regarding the solar observatory shutdown, students riot over a statue, and then we go into the depths of space to investigate Solar Plexus Clown Gliders. Apparently, the reason why the Sunspot Solar Observatory in New Mexico was shut down was because a janitor was trading child porn and then making threats after his operation was discovered. Is this the real reason or is it simply disinformation? Then we travel to jolly ole England and the year 1907, where a group of medical students waged war to tear down a statue . . .of a dog. Finally, we investigate the rumor that Solar Plexus Clown Gliders are interdimensional demons bent on multiverse conquest. And I may have seen one before.   Patreon  https://www.patreon.com/user?u=18482113   MERCH STORE!!! https://www.redbubble.com/people/deadrabbitradio/works/35749420-dead-rabbit-radio?asc=u   Help Promote Dead Rabbit! Brown Dog Foundation   Carol Smock     Today we bring you Carol Smock, Founder/CEO of the Brown Dog Foundation, an organization founded in 2006 when she found herself in a devastating situation - her beloved dog, Chocolate Chip was diagnosed with cancer again- and she had just lost her job.  Unfortunately, this is an experience shared by too many Americans.  The Brown Dog Foundation works to bridge the gap between the cost of medical care and saving your pet. Carol found that in an emergency vet setting, pet owners decide on average 7 times a day to euthanize their pets due to the cost of treatment.  In a typical vet setting, it happens 10-15 times a week. The fact is, most working Americans can’t put together $400 for an emergency.  So, organizations like The Brown Dog Foundation are critical to families throughout the United States. They have helped countless families save a beloved family pet.  Today you will hear the touching stories of two pets, Hercules and Ally, that will warm your heart. How can you help? Fundraise on social media  (choose their organization for your birthday charity on Facebook!) Donate and ask others to do the same Buy their book - Brown Dog Can’t donate?  Follow The Brown Dog Foundation on social media and increase their visibility. Finally, don’t forget to share this episode.  Sharing this episode will help The Brown Dog Foundation increase its impact and will help us at the GIVE Podcast keep spreading the word about important charities and nonprofits. This week is a Tom pick: a novella by Jim Harrison featuring his beloved character Brown Dog. In "The Summer He Didn't Die," Brown Dog has some tooth problems, and also some sex. Just regular old Brown Dog stuff. Harrison is considered a master of the novella form, and a chronicler of Michigan's Upper Peninsula. Is this his best work? Reviews are mixed. Also this week: Mike continues his summer-long quest for a good donut, with a return trip to Philly favorite Federal Donuts. If you like the show and would like more Book Fight in your life, consider subscribing to our Patreon. For $5/month, you'll get access to regular bonus episodes, including monthly episodes of Book Fight After Dark, where we read some of the world's weirdest romance novels. And starting this week, we'll be adding new mini-episodes in a series called Reading the Room, in which we offer advice on how to navigate awkward, writing-related social situations. I was very fortunate to be in a situation where I could learn from Journeymen who had decades of experience in all sorts of welding, and who were more than willing to share their knowledge with me. From tig welding tool steels to stick welding in structural applications and using a mig welder for general fabrication, not to mention everything in between, I’ve been able to develop and hone my skills in a variety of processes and settings. I currently hold a variety of tig and stick welding certifications, and I test for additional qualifications routinely. Brown Dog Welding is the product of my passion. What began as my profession has become something much more. It is an evolving entity as I continue to grow as a metal worker and as an artist.
