Bird Hot Sauces Review With Francesca Brown
On the northshore of Chicago, there has existed a magical boutique gift store for 37 years. Its name: The Yellow Bird. Recently the shopping center where it had thrived all those years, was sold to make room for new residential buildings and some commercial. Yellow Bird's lease was over but Carol was not. Yellow Bird's owner, Carol Schaner, 87, was not yet ready, however, to lock the door and walk away. She, her daughter and indispensable manager, Laura, were determined to successfully relocate. And, indeed, they did. The Yellow Bird can now be found in downtown Wilmette.Carol's handling of the situation is an example of her resilience; of a can-do attitude that has held Carol in good stead over her entire life. She is resilient, courageous, creative and connected. The community loves her and proved it by supporting her in her new location. What will I do in the future? I'll continue with everything I am doing now! I am blessed to be here. Joy abounds. This episode tells her story. Nous sommes au cœur l'année 1854, en Californie. C'est chez « W.R. Cook et compagnie » que paraît un récit intitulé « Life and Adventures of Joaquín Murieta: the celebrated California Bandit ». Episode 161 is a humbling, wonderful conversation with Dr. Michael Yellow Bird. Dr. Yellowbird works with Tribal and Indigenous Peoples to bring mindfulness and neurodecolonization approaches to these communities for the purposes of healing and improving wellness. I use neuroscience research to examine how mindfulness approaches and traditional Indigenous contemplative practices can train the mind and positively change the structure and function of the brain. I study how experiences and perceptions change the brain (neuroplasticity); shape our DNA and affect the expression of our genes; activate different brain regions, change our brain waves, shape specialized brain cells such as mirror neurons; and alter our neurotransmitters and modulators. I use my work as a means of translating the neuroscience of mindfulness and neurodecolonization to Tribal and Indigenous communities so they can understand why and how mindfulness and Indigenous contemplative practices work. Once We Were Home “Rosner's novel reflects personal interviews and in-depth research...She illuminates the complex and opposing political and religious viewpoints...Rosner's heart-wrenching revelations in Once We Were Home will persist in readers' minds for seasons to come.” –Historical Novel Society ABOUT THE AUTHOR Jennifer Rosner is the author of the novels ONCE WE WERE HOME and THE YELLOW BIRD SINGS, both finalists for the National Jewish Book Award. In addition to writing, Jennifer has taught philosophy. She earned her B.A. from Columbia University and her Ph.D. from Stanford University. She lives in Western Massachusetts with her family. Ana will never forget her mother's face when she and her baby brother, Oskar, were sent out of their Polish ghetto and into the arms of a Christian friend. For Oskar, though, their new family is the only one he remembers. When a woman from a Jewish reclamation organization seizes them, believing she has their best interest at heart, Ana sees an opportunity to reconnect with her roots, while Oskar sees only the loss of the home he loves. Roger grows up in a monastery in France, inventing stories and trading riddles with his best friend in a life of quiet concealment. When a relative seeks to retrieve him, the Church steals him across the Pyrenees before relinquishing him to family in Jerusalem. Renata, a post-graduate student in archaeology, has spent her life unearthing secrets from the past--except for her own. After her mother's death, Renata's grief is entwined with all the questions her mother left unanswered, including why they fled Germany so quickly when Renata was a little girl. Two decades later, they are each building lives for themselves, trying to move on from the trauma and loss that haunts them. But as their stories converge in Israel, in unexpected ways, they must each ask where and to whom they truly belong. Beautifully evocative and tender, filled with both luminosity and anguish, Once We Were Home reveals a little-known history. Based on the true stories of children stolen during wartime, this heart-wrenching novel raises questions of complicity and responsibility, belonging and identity, good intentions and unforeseen consequences, as it confronts what it really means to find home. more:getthefunkoutshow.kuci.org

This week, host Dr. I. David Daniels will speak with Michael Zalle, founder and CEO of Yellowbird. Michael will share his experience as a Health and Safety entrepreneur, despite the challenges of being born without a right hand. He has been highly successful in the “business of safety” despite living in an often ableist world. Ableism is a set of beliefs or practices that devalue and discriminate against people with physical, intellectual, or psychiatric disabilities and often rests on the assumption that disabled people need to be ‘fixed' in one form or another. Like many other forms of systemic discrimination, ableism is intertwined in our culture due to many limiting beliefs about what disability does or does not mean, how able-bodied people learn to treat people with disabilities, and how they are often not included at the table for critical decisions. Supported by loving parents, Michael learned early that he was capable of doing anything that anyone else could do, though often he had to do it differently. Not only has he taken a seat at several tables, he recently created a “new table” in creating an innovative company that allows safety professionals and organizations to match needs with capabilities.

Welcome back to another episode of Pints with Pat. Today Pat announces that he'll be attending and keynoting at the IEB Conference in Texas. He goes into what he'll be talking about which is Clarity, Direction, and Purpose in the Fog. Pat goes into his background as well as the success of Yellowbird, flipping 400 houses, 1200 rentals and more. Everything was running very smooth until the Fed rose the interest rates, and since then things haven't been the same. He discussed the founders purpose shifted during that time and they realized flipping houses wasn't what they wanted to do the rest of their lives. Takeaways:- Tough times show you who you really are. It's easy to be the great leader when things are going good, but what about when times are tough? - When the future is foggy, work on yourself internally. Meditate, network with new people, read, go to conferences.- Get away from the day to day, add some white space to create and vision what the future looks like for you and your team.- The path forward becomes more clear when you live a life authentic to yourself.- The glory doesn't come without taking risk.- Step up and stay true to your values. And finally - you can still drive during the fog, maybe it's just at a different speed. Hope you all have a great week! We'll talk to you next week.Interested in attending the IEB Conference? More details can be found here - https://iebevents.zohobackstage.com/IEBUnite2023#/?lang=en

Welcome back to another episode of Pints with Pat. Pat and Alaina start off discussing her Get Social class and how branding on social media can really create an impact. Instead of just posting about your business, start incorporating more of yourself and the faces behind the business. Start providing value and solutions to your audience. From here, Pat transitions to the leadership course he's going leading with the team here at Yellowbird. He talks about the book they're reading through called "21 Laws of Leadership" by john Maxwell and his favorite law is the first one aka, the Law of the Lid. Anything you do in life, you have some sort of cap and that cap is the lid. Pat relates this to his personal life saying if he never wanted to grow or challenge himself, then he would be stuck and stagnant in all aspects. There is no growth in the comfort zone. He relates this concept with Aubrey Marcus, as he grew, his organization grew as well. Have you reflected on the work you've done in order to grow and level up? From here he discusses Jim Collins theory on Level 5 Leadership. The more value you provide, the more energy you'll receive which is reflected not just on yourself but everyone around you. It's not about you anymore, it's about your team. Leadership is developed through service and sacrifice. In order to have a successful team, it starts with a good leader. To wrap it up, Pat mentions if you are at your lid then your business will soon die. How are you going to become the leader your team needs? Reflect on that this week. Hope you all enjoyed the episode. Feel free to hit the download button and share this episode with all of your fellow leaders. Have a great week!

On this episode, Pat breaks down why Yellowbird is shifting and what's lies ahead for the team. Here are a few key take aways:- Lay offs are hard but it needed to be done. It was more personal rather than the market.- Tough decisions are sometimes the right ones.- We came to the conclusion that we wanted to be more than "home-flippers".- We are no longer your competition, we are your partners.- Yellowbird is still buying houses, investing in joint ventures and doing hard money loans. However, we want you to use us as leverage. - We decided to cut our work week down to 4 days and have off on Wednesdays to provide us more white space to create and think about what's next.Last takeaway: Your life is a combination of what you're willing to tolerate.
