Tarot cards has been a journey of over 20 years for me. I took a two and a half day course to learn how to read tarot and I was hooked. At the time, I wanted to learn how to read tarot because I loved having my cards read and I wanted to demystify it, and also learn how to do it for myself and others. Since this was a new skill, I relied heavily on learning the cards and the positions in the spread. It took many years to be able to put the stories together, and even longer to get out of my head and trust my intuition (which I still struggle with). Tarot has been an exciting journey in my personal life. In my professional life, I am an instructional designer, course writer and digital content creator. Needless to say, it was a matter of time before I took on the personal project of sharing how I learned to read tarot cards, which truly was building on the basics - which is the symbolism of the cards. Taking my experience in adult learning and course writing coupled with my passion for reading cards, I created these three minute podcasts to help card readers learn as I did. Ok... they aren't EXACTLY 3 minutes. I'm not THAT good! But I am around that 2.5 to 3.5 minute mark, to keep the learning targeted and concise. Please know there is so much more to know, but this should give a beginner some basics. For people that already have a familiarity with the cards, taking in the podcast may be a great way to focus on the lessons. For those that would do better with accompanying visuals, I would recommend searching for the card for viewing on your computer or phone for quick access. I have used the Rider Waite deck to build this course, as it is the deck that I learned on, and it is still my favorite tarot card deck. Even though I love the woo woo nature of cards, astrology and numerology, it can be confusing when discussing the technical aspects of the cards, and flip flopping with the fluff. This audio course sticks to point so that a person learning can stay in their left brain. I love the fluff, but we only have three minutes to get the basics across. Happy learning!

I use the Rider Waite Tarot, but you can view the card while you listen using your own Tarot card deck or a computer. Today, we're exploring the Nine of Swords, focusing on reversals. Let's start with the divine meaning of the card and then its meaning when reversed. The Nine of Swords upright often represents anxiety, sleepless nights, and feeling overwhelmed by worries and fears. It's a card that captures the weight of mental distress, where our thoughts can feel impossible to escape. However, when the Nine of Swords appears reversed, there is a shift towards relief. It suggests letting go, facing fears, and finding peace after a period of turmoil. The reversed Nine of Swords is a turning point. You may be confronting your anxieties, gaining perspective on your worries, and releasing their hold over you.So what does that mean when we see the Nine of Swords reversed in a reading? When the Nine of Swords reversed appears in a reading, it's often a sign that you're ready to release the weight of past worries. This card suggests that you're entering a period of healing and self-compassion, where you can begin to let go of thoughts that have held you back. It may also indicate that you're learning to manage your mental health proactively. The reversed Nine of Swords encourages you to use tools and practices that help you maintain peace of mind, reminding you that your thoughts don't have to control you. So, what is the best way to memorize the Nine of Swords in reverse?Tying the card to a personal experience helps me remember it. For example, my reversed Nine of Swords moment came at the end of a friendship, which was a Nine of Swords moment. This friend was someone who I had a lot of fun with, but also had a lot of tension with. When the friendship was over, it took me some time before I was more in a nine of swords reversed. I appreciated the drama out of my life but would waffle on our good times and the support we provided each other. Things are never entirely black and white. With time, I was at peace with it, and I try to focus on the good times we had and leave the rest in the past. That's all for today's episode on the Nine of Swords reversed. My thoughts were worse than the illness because I worried about my recovery and taking care of myself. I also thought a lot about how I would support myself when I didn't have the stamina to stand or walk for more than two minutes. My ten of swords upright was completing my time in the hospital and my dark thoughts. My Ten of Swords reversed were around doing the work to gain my strength back, slowly but surely making a full recovery, and feeling encouraged by the progress and support from friends and family. Let's start with the divine meaning of the card and then its meaning when reversed. The Page of Swords upright is full of curiosity, energy, and a desire for knowledge. It's a card that represents the excitement of new ideas. However, when the Page of Swords appears reversed, it suggests that this energy may be misdirected. It can indicate impulsive behavior, gossip, or difficulty expressing thoughts clearly. The reversed Page of Swords often indicates the need for clearer focus and thoughtful communication. It can represent a moment when words or actions may be misunderstood or lead to unintended consequences. So what does that mean when we see the Page of Swords reversed in a reading? When the Page of Swords reversed appears in a reading, it's often a sign to be mindful of your communication style. This card suggests that now is the time to slow down, listen carefully, and consider the impact of your words and actions. It may also indicate that you're feeling scattered or unfocused. The reversed Page of Swords encourages you to take a step back, organize your thoughts, and approach situations with clarity rather than haste. So, what is the best way to memorize the Page of Swords in reverse? Tying the card to a personal experience helps me remember it. For example, my reversed Page of Swords moment dealt with a person in my professional life with the traits of the Reversed Page of Swords. This person was quite reckless with gossip and gave you the sense at first that they were confiding in you about something. In reality, they were doing the same thing with everyone. They spread secrets they believed to be true about our coworkers and overshared their problems. The advice for the Page of Swords reversed to organize your thoughts and approach situations with clarity rather than haste would have been good advice for this individual. They caused lots of hurt feelings and drama in an otherwise fantastic workplace. For this person to turn that reversed page of swords upright, they could have moved to a more curious state and listened more, rather than being impulsive with words and assumptions with others. I remember the company fondly, but this person definitely had lessons to learn around communication with others, especially in the workplace. That's all for today's episode on the Page of Swords reversed. Let's start with the divine meaning of the card and then its meaning when reversed. The Knight of Swords upright is driven, determined, and full of energy. He charges forward confidently, embodying ambition and a clear sense of purpose. However, when the Knight of Swords appears reversed, this energy becomes scattered or overly forceful. It suggests a rush to action without careful thought, impatience, or a tendency to act without fully understanding the consequences. The reversed Knight of Swords often signals a need to slow down and think things through. This card serves as a reminder that charging ahead without a plan can lead to unintended obstacles. So what does that mean when we see the Knight of Swords reversed in a reading? When the Knight of Swords reversed appears in a reading, it's often a sign to step back and slow down. This card suggests that a more measured approach will yield better results. It encourages you to check in with your long-term goals and align your actions with a clear plan. It may also indicate that you feel blocked or frustrated in your progress. The reversed Knight of Swords reminds you that patience is sometimes necessary and that forcing a situation rarely leads to the best outcome. So, what is the best way to memorize the Knight of Swords in reverse?Tying the card to a personal experience helps me remember it. For example, my reversed Knight of Swords moment is when I started Carrie's Closet. That is a perfect example of charging ahead without a plan. I did some planning in 2012 but didn't realize how much capital it took to build a brand. I was good at technology, which led me to e-commerce, and I have been creating online content for the majority of my career. However, I knew little about fashion or marketing. The whole journey was a rollercoaster. A lot of fun, with both ups and downs. Feeling frustrated or blocked in my progress describes the majority of my journey, because I had expectations of how much should be selling. Let me add, these expectations were not based on research. I had success, but I was focused on solving issues and not celebrating the wins. If I could do it over again, I would have found mentorship earlier to help me get traction sooner. That's all for today's episode on the Knight of Swords reversed. Let's start with the divine meaning of the card and then its meaning when reversed. The Queen of Swords upright is clear, direct, and wise. She cuts through confusion with clarity and intelligence and is often seen as the voice of reason in any situation. However, when the Queen of Swords appears reversed, her sharp clarity may turn harsh or overly critical. This card suggests a time when emotions may cloud judgment or communication might come across as excessively blunt or disconnected. The reversed Queen of Swords can indicate the need to soften your approach, bring more empathy into interactions, and ensure that your words are as compassionate as they are truthful. So what does that mean when we see the Queen of Swords reversed in a reading? When the Queen of Swords reversed appears in a reading, it's often a sign to check how you are communicating. This card encourages you to soften your tone, embrace empathy, and consider how your words impact those around you. It may also indicate that you're feeling disconnected from your emotions. The reversed Queen of Swords reminds you that it's okay to let down your guard and approach situations with heart and mind. So, what is the best way to memorize the Queen of Swords in reverse? Tying the card to a personal experience helps me remember it. For example, my reversed Queen of Swords moment is remembering a manager who flipped between the Queen of Swords and the Queen of Swords reversed. She was pretty unpredictable, and a good or bad mood affected how she would deliver a message. She was clear, direct, and wise as a Queen of Swords. As the Queen of Swords Reversed, she had a reputation for turning over staff, because her temper created a lot of undue stress for people on her projects. I will never forget her for the opportunities she created for me. However, I will also never forget her for how she talked to people when she was unhappy. When I see the Queen of Swords, whether upright or reversed, I remember both sides of her. That's all for today's episode of the Queen of Swords reversed. I use the Rider Waite Tarot, but you can view the card while you listen using your own Tarot card deck or a computer. Today, we're exploring the King of Swords, focusing on reversals. Let's start with the divine meaning of the card and then its meaning when reversed. The King of Swords upright embodies clarity, authority, and logical thinking. He is a master of strategy and communication, representing a person who leads with integrity and reason. However, this intense energy can become distorted when the King of Swords appears reversed. It can point to a misuse of power, rigid thinking, or being overly harsh and cold. The reversed King of Swords often signals a time when communication might be clouded or influenced by manipulation, whether that's from yourself or someone else. It's a call to re-evaluate how you use your words and authority and to ensure they're being used ethically and transparently. So what does that mean when we see the King of Swords reversed in a reading? When the King of Swords reversed appears in a reading, it's often a sign that you must reassess how you're communicating or how someone is communicating with you. This card invites you to find balance and ensure that communication is constructive rather than damaging. The King of Swords reversed can also point to a lack of honesty or integrity. Whether it's subtle manipulation or outright deception, this card serves as a reminder that actions motivated by dishonesty or misuse of power often have consequences. The reversed King of Swords asks you to reflect on your actions or to be wary of others who may not have your best interests at heart. So, what is the best way to memorize the King of Swords in reverse? Tying the card to a personal experience helps me remember it. For example, my reversed King of Swords moment is remembering a manager I had on my first contract. He was fair but tough. He was also someone who elevated people, and he was also someone who tended to be more on the damaging side of communication when things weren't going well instead of constructive. I learned a lot from him and liked working with him. I didn't like the times I accidentally upset him, but it was rare. However, most of the time, he mentored and pushed me. I got a tremendous amount of experience under his wing. When the king of swords was upright, he was an authority that I didn't challenge, but he was fair and wise. When the King of Swords was reversed, I walked on eggshells, kept my head down, and approached him carefully if needed. He had integrity but a lot of fire, which was good or difficult, depending on the day. That's all for today's episode of The King of Swords reversed. I was a contractor since 2006, and the temptation was there to take a leap of faith once the lockdowns started in twenty-twenty one. In theory, that is a good enough reason to take a leap of faith. However, the Fool reversed reminded me that I didn't have any facts. If contracts were available, I did not want to burn bridges by accepting an employee position. The short story is that I decided to take the employee position and not be tempted by the contract world unless something happened to my job. The company was sold after a few years, which led me back into the contract world. But I did stay true to my decision. I held onto the position without looking over the fence for something better or different. It was the best decision then, and I enjoyed my time there. That's all for today's episode of The Fool reversed. Remember, to memorize tarot, keep practicing tarot. I use the Rider Waite Tarot, but you can view the card while you listen using your own Tarot card deck or a computer. Today, we're exploring The Magician, focusing on reversals. Let's start with the divine meaning of the card and then its meaning when reversed. The Magician upright is the master of manifestation, resourcefulness, and focused willpower. He represents the power to turn ideas into reality by harnessing the tools. However, when The Magician appears reversed, his energy is distorted. It can point to misusing skills, lack of focus, or even deceit. The reversed Magician often signals that while you have the tools and potential for success, something is blocking your ability to use them effectively. It can also be a warning to check your motives or be wary of others who may not have your best interests at heart. So what does that mean when we see The Magician reversed in a reading? When The Magician Reversed appears in a reading, it's often a sign to reflect on how you're using your talents. Common traits of a reversed magician are procrastinating or simply failing to leverage your abilities. A reversed magician may take shortcuts instead of doing things correctly. This card encourages you to re-examine your approach and ensure your actions align with your values. Sometimes, the reversed Magician isn't you at all. It may indicate that you are dealing with someone using their charm or intellect to manipulate situations to their advantage. The reversed Magician asks you to stay alert and trust your instincts if something feels off.So, what is the best way to memorize The Magician in reverse?Tying the card to a personal experience helps me remember it. For example, my reversed Magician moment was a person my husband and I were dealing with, and we were trying to help this person out. My husband works in the winter and has the summer off, and this person worked with him on his crew in the winter. This person was a bit of a fast talker and always seemed to be hard on his luck. The story around this person was that he wanted to operate a landscaping business in the summer in the off-season. He was a charmer and, in my opinion, a dreamer. He spends lots of time sharing his big plans and creating trust with people through his stories. Unfortunately, we helped him by lending him some equipment to start things, and he disappeared with it. Someone we used to talk to regularly, vanished off the face of the earth with equipment. No more returning calls, texts, or emails. This person was just gone. We believed in this person's potential, but at the end of the day, they acted out of integrity. It's been close to five years since we talked to this person and we never did get the equipment back. That's all for today's episode of The Magician reversed. I use the Rider Waite Tarot, but you can view the card while you listen using your own Tarot card deck or a computer. Today, we're exploring The High Priestess, focusing on reversals. Let's start with the divine meaning of the card and then its meaning when reversed. The High Priestess upright embodies Intuition, mystery, and inner knowledge. She is the guardian of the subconscious, urging us to trust our instincts and look beyond the surface for answers. However, when The High Priestess appears reversed, this intuitive flow can become blocked. It suggests that you may be disconnected from your inner voice or ignore the subtle cues that guide you. The reversed High Priestess often points to a time when distractions, doubt, or external influences cloud your ability to trust yourself. It's a call to reconnect with your inner wisdom and rediscover the power of your Intuition. So what does that mean when we see The High Priestess reversed in a reading? When The High Priestess reversed appears in a reading, it's a sign that you must focus on reconnecting with your Intuition. Do not let any external voices or doubts override your inner knowing. This card encourages you to trust that your instincts have value and to give them the space to guide you. It may also indicate that you need to pay attention to what's being kept hidden. Whether it's information you're not acknowledging or secrets being held by others, The High Priestess asks you to stay vigilant and seek out the truth. So, what is the best way to memorize The High Priestess in reverse? Tying the card to a personal experience helps me remember it. For example, my reversed High Priestess moment was when I needed to trust the universe that everything would be okay with respect to finding work. I moved from a city to a small rural town of 5,000 people. I needed to trust that even though there were fewer remote opportunities, there would always be one for me when I needed it. I suffered from a lot of self-doubt on the surface, but in my gut, I felt safe. Those nagging thoughts created a lot of stress that was completely unnecessary. I worked on my resilience and put energy into my projects utilizing the skills that so many clients have hired me for, such as course creation, this podcast, and promoting digital asset products. I also firmly believed that I could generate my own income while still looking for another contract. I felt cozy having my eggs in more than one basket. The high priestess reverse had me second guessing these positive thoughts with grappling and self-doubt. It's time to have faith in yourself and your path. Follow your Intuition and let go of fear and stress, especially over problems that haven't happened. That's all for today's episode of The High Priestess reversed. I use the Rider Waite Tarot, but you can view the card while you listen using your own Tarot card deck or a computer. Today, we're exploring The Empress, focusing on reversals. Let's start with the divine meaning of the card and then its meaning when reversed. The Empress Upright is the epitome of nurturing, abundance, creativity, and the maternal energy that encourages growth and prosperity. She embodies the power of nature, fertility, and a deep connection to oneself and the world. However, when The Empress appears reversed, this powerful energy can become blocked or imbalanced. It suggests a disconnection from self-care, creative flow, or an over-dependence on others for validation. So what does that mean when we see The Empress reversed in a reading? When The Empress Reversed appears in a reading, it's a reminder to pause and check how you care for yourself. Make sure you are nurturing your own needs and that you are not entirely focused on others. This card encourages you to reclaim your energy and remember that true nurturing begins with yourself. It may also indicate dependency on others for validation or fulfillment. If you're feeling lost or unsupported, The Empress Reversed suggests building confidence and autonomy, tapping into your inner strength to cultivate self-sufficiency. So, what is the best way to memorize The Empress in reverse?Tying the card to a personal experience helps me remember it. For example, my reversed Empress moment was apparent when I moved to a rural community from a large city. I didn't realize how little I focused on myself when I was in the city. I was in the small business community, so my time seemed to primarily go to my clients, marketing, and supporting others in the small business community. It was minimal if I think of how much time I took for myself. My husband was also a small business owner then, and most of my friends were also in that community. When I moved to Creston, all that activity stopped dead in its tracks. I found myself in a reversed Empress energy and also in a bit of an identity crisis followed by a health crisis. The lack of self-care for years was a shock to my system when I had nothing to focus on but myself and my household. I still had my work, but my time wasn't completely booked. In that silence, I needed to figure out who I was and what I wanted to do. As I began to connect more with my husband and my parents, I took better care of myself with a better diet, creative hobbies, and getting involved in local activities. That's all for today's episode of The Empress Reversed. I use the Rider Waite Tarot, but you can view the card while you listen using your own Tarot card deck or a computer. Today, we're exploring The Emperor, focusing on reversals. Let's start with the divine meaning of the card and then its meaning when reversed. The Emperor upright is a symbol of stability, authority, and leadership. He represents structure, discipline, and the power of order. However, when The Emperor appears reversed, the energy of this strong figure becomes misaligned. It can suggest an abuse of power, a lack of discipline, or feeling restricted by rules and structures that no longer serve you. The reversed Emperor often points to an imbalance in how authority is expressed or perceived. It may indicate over-control, rebellion against authority, or a struggle to assert yourself constructively. So what does that mean when we see The Emperor reversed in a reading? When The Emperor Reversed appears in a reading, it's often a sign to evaluate how control and authority are playing out in your life. This card encourages you to find a balance between discipline and flexibility. It may also indicate a lack of boundaries or an inability to assert yourself effectively. The reversed Emperor asks you to step into your power confidently, ensuring that you're taking control of your direction without feeling suppressed by external forces. So, what is the best way to memorize The Emperor in reverse? Tying the card to a personal experience helps me remember it. For example, my reversed Emperor moment revolved around feeling restricted by rules in the workplace and fighting feelings of rebellion. As a reasonable human being, I know that a company hires me to solve a problem for them. I am someone who is in their environment, and they are investing in my wage to create learning. There have been a few contracts that I have taken where the client wanted something that, in my opinion, would be ineffective for the learner. In online courses, people do not respond well to long lectures with death by PowerPoint. That era is over. When I am mandated to create training in a way that I know will be ineffective, I am concerned for the learner and the feedback. Those feelings give me reversed Emperor vibes. I don't need content delivery to be my way, but I always hope to create a product that makes a positive impact on my learners. That's all for today's episode of The Emperor Reversed. I use the Rider Waite Tarot, but you can view the card while you listen using your own Tarot card deck or a computer. Today, we're exploring The Hierophant, focusing on reversals. Let's start with the divine meaning of the card and then its meaning when reversed. The Hierophant upright represents tradition, structured belief systems, and wisdom passed down through established institutions. He symbolizes learning, community, and adherence to spiritual or societal norms. However, when The Hierophant appears reversed, this traditional energy shifts, suggesting a break from conformity, rebellion against outdated norms, or a need for personal freedom and unconventional thinking. The reversed Hierophant often points to a time when you may feel restricted by rules, expectations, or the status quo. It signals an urge to question authority, seek personal truth, and carve out a path that resonates uniquely with you. So what does that mean when we see The Hierophant reversed in a reading? When The Hierophant reversed appears in a reading, it's often a sign to examine your relationship with structure and conformity. This card invites you to challenge the norms and find a path that feels true to you. It encourages you to trust your inner guide over external pressures. It may also indicate that you're in a phase of learning outside of traditional methods. You might be exploring new ideas, teachings, or experiences that are not accepted as the truth by traditional learning. So, what is the best way to memorize The Hierophant in reverse? Tying the card to a personal experience helps me remember it. For example, my reversed Hierophant moment was discovering learning communities. I was writing and delivering training in more traditional ways for a very long time, and I figured this new idea "would never work." The short story, I was wrong. Very, very wrong. The learning community saw a high level of engagement, participation, and learning outcomes. When I was willing to move into the Hierophant reversed and think outside of tradition, I was surprised by what opened up for me in that project, and in my career. Let's start with the divine meaning of the card and then its meaning when reversed. The Lovers upright symbolizes deep connections, unity, and significant choices that align with one's higher values. It represents harmony, partnerships, and decisions that resonate with love and commitment. However, when The Lovers card appears reversed, it signals disharmony, conflict, or disconnection from what once felt aligned. It may also indicate a choice that feels out of balance with your true desires. The reversed Lovers can point to a period where relationships or important decisions are challenging. It may reflect inner conflict or a misalignment between your actions and values, urging you to reconnect with what's authentic. So what does that mean when we see The Lovers reversed in a reading? When The Lovers Reversed appears in a reading, it's a sign to pay attention to areas of discord in your life, whether in relationships, personal decisions, or inner conflicts. This card invites you to confront these challenges honestly and be willing to find a resolution or a new path. It may also suggest that you're grappling with self-love and acceptance. The Lovers Reversed reminds you that alignment with others begins with alignment within yourself. Are you nurturing your relationship with yourself as much as those around you? So, what is the best way to memorize The Lovers in reverse?Tying the card to a personal experience helps me remember it. For example, my reversed Lovers moment was around challenging decisions. That, for me, was the time when I had to decide where to put my dad when he needed hospice care. I don't mean which care center, I mean what city. He lived on the east side of the country, and I lived on the west side. We are talking a 24-hour drive away. If I had moved him to my city, he would have only had me. He didn't have his other family members or friends nearby. At the time, I was in my late thirties and traveling extensively for work, which would inhibit my ability to spend regular time with him. Making that decision was for sure a reversed lover because I needed to look at what he needed and what I could do around my career. I was stuck on what I "should do" in this situation. As you can see, The Lovers card is not only about romantic relationships but all relationships, commitment, and inner conflicts. That's all for today's episode of The Lovers Reversed. Let's start with the divine meaning of the card and then its meaning when reversed. The Chariot upright represents triumph and willpower. It's the inner strength you need to steer through challenges and the ability to keep your eye on the goal. However, when The Chariot appears reversed, its driven energy becomes scattered or stalled. This card suggests that obstacles may disrupt your path, or you're losing control over a situation or your motivation. The reversed Chariot can indicate a need to reassess your approach and regain focus. It's a call to evaluate whether you're moving in the right direction or if external forces are pulling you away from your goals. So what does that mean when we see The Chariot reversed in a reading? When The Chariot Reversed appears in a reading, it's a sign to reassess your approach. This card suggests that it's time to pause, gather your thoughts, and decide how to regain control over your course of action. It also indicates a need to let go of rigid control and accept that not everything can be forced or driven by sheer will. The Chariot Reversed asks you to find a balance between determination and adaptability, knowing when to push forward and when to allow things to unfold naturally. So, what is the best way to memorize The Chariot in reverse? Tying the card to a personal experience helps me remember it. For example, my reversed Chariot moment is a pattern I have with contracts that are not in flow. I do give it my all when I am in a contract. It's easy when everything flows with team collaboration, and the client is happy with the content. Most contracts are like this. However, it is easy for my Chariot to become reversed for the odd contract that is not in flow. I then need to ask myself how I can create more flow in whatever part is not working. The other option of course is to endure, and to look for another contract upon expiry of the difficult one. Once I have adapted and have made a decision on the next course of action, my chariot can become upright again. Even if the decision is to part ways at the end of the contract, I can steer through the challenges knowing that I have done everything I could. That's all for today's episode of The Chariot Reversed. I use the Rider Waite Tarot, but you can view the card while you listen using your own Tarot card deck or a computer. Today, we're exploring the Strength card, focusing on reversals. Let's start with the divine meaning of the card and then its meaning when reversed. The Strength card upright embodies inner strength, patience, compassion, and the ability to navigate challenges with a calm and balanced approach. It's about harnessing courage, not through brute force, but through gentle and persistent resolve. However, when Strength appears reversed, its energy shifts to indicate struggles with confidence, feeling overwhelmed, or a lack of belief in oneself. The reversed Strength card often suggests that you may be facing self-doubt or an internal battle that's depleting your energy. It's a reminder that true strength comes from within and that reconnecting with your inner power is essential to overcome the challenges. So what does that mean when we see the Strength card reversed in a reading? When Strength reversed appears in a reading, it's a signal to check how you manage your current challenges. This card asks you to approach yourself with compassion, acknowledging that everyone experiences moments of doubt but that these do not define your potential. It suggests that you struggle to assert yourself or express your needs. The reversed Strength card invites you to find your voice and trust that standing up for yourself does not require aggressive action but faith in your inner power. So, what is the best way to memorize the Strength card in reverse? Tying the card to a personal experience helps me remember it. For example, my reversed Strength card moment is how I conduct myself with a strong personality. I am not someone who responds well to super confrontational people. I am okay with direct and not sugar-coating feedback, but I feel someone can always do it with respect and compassion. As someone who creates content, I am accustomed to feedback and welcome it. I want to put out a product that the client is happy with. When review cycles are less than collaborative, I find myself in the Strength reversed. That's all for today's episode of Strength Card Reversed. Remember, to memorize tarot, keep practicing tarot. I use the Rider Waite Tarot, but you can view the card while you listen using your own Tarot card deck or a computer. Today, we're exploring the Hermit card, focusing on reversals. Let's start with the divine meaning of the card and then its meaning when reversed. The Hermit Upright represents introspection, inner guidance, and the pursuit of wisdom through solitude. It's a card that invites you to step back, reflect, and seek answers. However, when The Hermit appears reversed, this reflective energy can become isolating or imbalanced. It can suggest that you've withdrawn too deeply or feel disconnected from others and struggling to reintegrate. The reversed Hermit often signals that while solitude has its benefits, excessive withdrawal can lead to feelings of loneliness or a sense of being out of touch with the world around you.So what does that mean when we see the Hermit card reversed in a reading? When the Hermit card reversed appears in a reading, it's a sign to evaluate your relationship with solitude. This card suggests it might be time to reconnect with others and bring balance to your alone time and engagement with the outside world. It may also indicate that you must be more understood and connected to your purpose. The reversed Hermit card invites you to find a way to share your insights or reach out for support, reminding you that you don't have to go through challenges alone. So, what is the best way to memorize the Hermit card in reverse? Tying the card to a personal experience helps me remember it. For example, my reversed Hermit card moment was when I was re-entering the world "in person" after COVID. It was a huge adjustment not being in the office, socializing with people outside of video, other than my husband, and having the freedom to interact with people without considering the rules or consequences. Once the restrictions were lifted and we could interact, it was again an adjustment for me. I was comfortable with not going out and working from home. Like many people I worked with, I didn't want to return to the office. Once my Hermit Card was reversed, I needed to reconnect with others for my well-being and mental health. Truthfully, I am still working on it.That's all for today's episode of the Hermit Card Reversed. Remember, to memorize tarot, keep practicing tarot. I use the Rider Waite Tarot, but you can view the card while you listen using your own Tarot card deck or a computer. Today, we're exploring the Wheel of Fortune card, focusing on reversals. Let's start with the divine meaning of the card and then its meaning when reversed. The Wheel of Fortune Upright is about changes, cycles, and the natural flow of life's ups and downs. It's a card that represents luck, destiny, and the connection between our life events. You know how sometimes in life, you bump into someone you haven't seen in a decade, completely coincidentally, and it leads to a new job? Those random events sometimes can feel as though an interconnectedness exists between our life events. Now, when the Wheel of Fortune appears reversed, its energy can shift from luck and destiny, to feeling stuck in a cycle that seems like it's going nowhere. The reversed Wheel of Fortune often points to a period where you may feel as though luck is not on your side. You also may experience delays and obstacles that disrupt your plans. It's a call to examine how you react to these changes and to find new ways to adapt and realign with the ups and downs in life. So what does that mean when we see the Wheel of Fortune card reversed in a reading? When The Wheel of Fortune reversed appears in a reading, it's a sign to accept that some things are beyond your control. This card suggests that fighting against the tide may not bring the relief you seek. Instead, focus on adapting and finding ways to work with the current situation, rather than resisting it. It also points to a need to release control and trust that life is still moving in cycles that can lead to growth and change. The Wheel of Fortune reversed asks you to stay patient and keep the faith, even if it feels uncomfortable. So, what is the best way to memorize the Wheel of Fortune card in reverse? Tying the card to a personal experience helps me remember it. For example, my reversed Wheel of Fortune card moment was when I was off work for six months. I couldn't seem to get traction on a new contract. It was when there was a slump in the economy, and there weren't many new contracts. I was flipping between panic and determination as I kicked up side hustles to keep money flowing. Finding those ways to adapt to the situation financially while still looking for work gave me a sense of control over a problem that was, quite frankly, out of control. What was in my control, was staying patient, positive, and productive on finding a new role, and keeping money coming in part-time. I just had to let the rest go.That's all for today's Wheel of Fortune Card Reversed episode. Remember, to memorize tarot, keep practicing tarot. I use the Rider Waite Tarot, but you can view the card while you listen using your own Tarot card deck or a computer. Today, we're exploring the Justice card, focusing on reversals. Let's start with the divine meaning of the card and then its meaning when reversed. Justice upright represents fairness, truth, accountability, and the importance of cause and effect. It's about understanding the consequences of our actions and striving to align with integrity and honesty. When Justice appears reversed, however, this balance is disrupted. It can indicate dishonesty, unfair treatment, or an unwillingness to accept responsibility. The reversed Justice card often points to a need to examine where accountability is lacking. It may be within yourself, or in the situations and relationships around you. It's a call to confront truths, no matter how uncomfortable, and to work toward restoring balance and fairness. When Justice reversed appears in a reading, it's often a sign to reflect on your actions and decisions. The card asks you to own up to mistakes and take steps to make things right, emphasizing the importance of self-awareness and integrity. It may also indicate that you're facing an unfair situation where truth and accountability are ignored. Suppose you feel that Justice is not being served. In that case, the reversed card encourages you to advocate for fairness while remaining mindful of your values and principles. So, what is the best way to memorize the Justice card in reverse? Tying the card to a personal experience helps me remember it. For example, my reversed Justice card moment was ten years ago. I was in a contract with a large company, and the program manager was asking someone on my team, directly, to do something that would have gotten them fired. I will not go into the details, but it was indeed a bold ask, and this was a young person, who was working the second contract of their career. What makes this a Justice Reversed is that I had to advocate for fairness for this team member in a very unfair situation. Sadly, Justice was not served for this program manager, but the team member was not put in harm's way by executing the request, which could have been damaging to her and her career at a very young age. That's all for today's Justice Card Reversed episode. Let's start with the divine meaning of the card and then its meaning when reversed. The Hanged Man upright represents surrender, a shift in perspective, and the importance of taking time to pause and reflect. It's about stepping back and allowing the natural flow of life to reveal the answers. When The Hanged Man appears reversed, however, this energy is blocked. It often suggests resistance to change, impatience, or a feeling of being stuck without seeing the purpose of the delay. The reversed Hanged Man points to a struggle with letting go or trusting the process. It can indicate that you're holding onto control or resisting a shift in perspective that could bring clarity and growth. So, what happens when The Hanged Man appears in a reading? When The Hanged Man reversed appears in a reading, it's a sign to examine where resistance is showing up in your life. This card suggests that now is the time to surrender and allow things to unfold naturally, rather than forcing outcomes. It may also indicate that you're feeling stagnant or uninspired. The reversed Hanged Man asks you to explore what might be keeping you stuck and to consider whether a change in perspective could help you move forward. So, what is the best way to memorize the Hanged Man card in reverse? Tying the card to a personal experience helps me remember it. For example, my reversed Hanged Man card moment was during a time when I had a feeling that layoffs were coming in my employee role. I was frantically trying to get in front of it. For example, I went to Employment Services to find out what options I had if I was laid off. I was also applying on any role I thought I had a chance with. I was selling possessions I no longer needed on Facebook Marketplace. Truly, I was acting like a loon. I was absolutely in the Hanged Man Reversed Eenergy because I was trying to take control of something that quite frankly, was out of control. The company may lay me off, or they may not. Yet, instead of allowing things to unfold naturally, I was choosing to take action instead of changing my perspective. That's all for today's Hanged Man Card Reversed episode. Let's start with the divine meaning of the card and then its meaning when reversed. The Death card upright is often misunderstood, but it is profoundly transformative. It represents endings, beginnings, and the cycles of renewal that are necessary for growth. However, this transformative energy is stalled or resisted when the Death card appears reversed. It can suggest fear of change, clinging to the past, or avoiding necessary endings that pave the way for new opportunities. The reversed Death card often points to a reluctance to relinquish old patterns, relationships, or situations that no longer serve you. It's a reminder that while change can be uncomfortable, it's also essential for growth and renewal. So, what happens when The Death appears in a reading? When Death reversed appears in a reading, it's a signal to examine what you might resist in your life. Are there situations, relationships, or habits that you're holding onto even though they no longer serve your highest good? This card asks you to reflect on what's keeping you from embracing necessary change and to consider how releasing the old could create room for the new. It may also indicate that you're feeling afraid of or overwhelmed by transformation. The reversed Death card reminds you that change is a natural part of life and that facing it with courage and trust can lead to renewal and growth. So, what is the best way to memorize the Death card in reverse? Tying the card to a personal experience helps me remember it. For example, my reversed Death card moment is my struggle with changing my diet. My sweet tooth has always been a struggle for me. Still, for the last 10 months, I have made a reasonably consistent effort to make good choices around carby and sugary foods. I am not remotely happy about this, and have a mindset issue with feeling deprived. I am adopting recipes to try and create yummy treats that are sugar-free, but trust me, I still remember what a slice of chocolate cake with chocolate icing tastes like. So, I am a work in progress, and I associate this journey with the Death Card reversed. I am transforming with my actions, but my brain is still struggling. That's all for today's Death Card Reversed episode. Remember, to memorize tarot, keep practicing tarot. I use the Rider Waite Tarot, but you can view the card while you listen using your own Tarot card deck or a computer. Today, we're exploring the Temperance card, focusing on reversals. Let's start with the divine meaning of the card and then its meaning when reversed.Temperance upright symbolizes balance, patience, and the art of harmonizing different elements. It's about finding peace through moderation and embracing a steady, mindful approach to life. When Temperance appears reversed, however, this harmonious energy becomes disrupted. It suggests imbalance, or a lack of coordination. The reversed Temperance card often points to a time when life feels out of sync. Potential causes can be making rushed decisions, or having difficulties finding a middle ground with someone. This card can be a message for you to pause, reassess, and restore your equilibrium. So, what happens when The Temperance reversed appears in a reading? When Temperance reversed appears in a reading, it's a sign to reflect on areas where you may be out of alignment. This card suggests taking a step back to assess what's causing this imbalance and how you can restore a sense of flow in your life. It may also indicate struggles with cooperation or compromise. If you're facing conflicts or miscommunication, the reversed Temperance card reminds you of the importance of finding common ground and approaching situations with patience and understanding. So, what is the best way to memorize the Temperance card in reverse? Tying the card to a personal experience helps me remember it. For example, my reversed Temperance card moment was when I found myself working on a team where I was definitely feeling out of place. I was hired as an instructional designer, and I had someone on the team assigning me graphic design work, which is not in my realm of genius. I am a strong junior in Photoshop and a weak junior in Illustrator, but I am a darn good technical writer and course creator. Even though I explained that I could try to help, it wasn't my expertise; it created tension and a misunderstanding that I didn't want to do the work. Once the person took the time to listen and understand that I wanted to help but that the assignment was outside my expertise, there were many apologies. Until then, I had to keep my composure until we got there. That's all for today's Temperance Card Reversed episode. Remember, to memorize tarot, keep practicing tarot. I use the Rider Waite Tarot, but you can view the card while you listen using your own Tarot card deck or a computer. Today, we're exploring The Devil card, focusing on reversals. Let's start with the divine meaning of the card and then its meaning when reversed. The Devil upright represents temptation, bondage, and the shadow aspects of our lives such as addictions, fears, and unhealthy attachments. When reversed, The Devil takes on a more liberating energy. It suggests that you recognize what's been holding you back and take steps to free yourself from those chains. The reversed Devil is a card of empowerment. It indicates you're ready to confront your fears, let go of limiting beliefs, and reclaim control over your choices and actions. So, what happens when The Devil reversed appears in a reading? The Devil reversed can also point to a fear of fully letting go. You may know what needs to change but feel hesitant about taking the final steps. This card encourages you to trust the process and understand that the freedom you seek is worthwhile. Sometimes, the reversed card may indicate subtle influences still lingering in your life. Even as you make progress, there may be remnants of old patterns that need attention. The Devil reversed invites you to continue the work, knowing that even small steps lead to meaningful transformation. So, what is the best way to memorize The Devil card in reverse? Tying the card to a personal experience helps me remember it. For example, my reversed Devil card moment was choosing to move to contract jobs instead of employee roles. I felt all the fear and uncertainty but I kept taking those small steps toward my goal, until I arrived. An example was calling business schools to learn how to get on their rosters. I wasn't doing that all day long, but that is an example of an action I took, instead of sitting in fear and losing time doing research. I just started making steps until I started getting jobs. Eventually, I got busy. That's all for today's Devil Card Reversed episode. Remember, to memorize tarot, keep practicing tarot. Let's start with the divine meaning of the card and then its meaning when reversed. The Tower Upright is a powerful card of sudden change, upheaval, and the breaking down of old structures. It's about dramatic shifts that shake us to our core, often clearing the way for new growth. When The Tower appears reversed, this energy becomes more internal or resisted. It may point to a fear of change, or an avoidance of disruption going on in your life. The reversed Tower often suggests that a significant internal shift is occurring while the external chaos may not be obvious. It's a call to pay attention to the changes and embrace the process, even if it feels uncomfortable. So, what happens when The Tower reversed appears in a reading? When The Tower reversed appears in a reading, it's a sign to reflect on what changes you might resist. Sometimes, it can indicate a fear of letting go or avoiding a brutal truth. This card suggests that it's time to confront these areas with courage and openness, knowing that the discomfort of change often leads to freedom and renewal. It can also indicate that you're undergoing a subtle but profound transformation. Even if it's not obvious to others, these internal shifts pave the way for a new chapter. The reversed Tower encourages you to trust this process, even if it feels uncertain or challenging. So, what is the best way to memorize The Tower card in reverse? Tying the card to a personal experience helps me remember it. For example, my reversed Tower card moment is changing my habits to manage my health and weight. The difficult truth I had to face was that I wasn't doing what I needed to do to make the changes I wanted to make. I made a lot of lifestyle upgrades in 2024, and I am focusing on consistency with those habits. But I was slow to get behind my self-care. I still have a long way to go. Still, I am super aware of the years I was in a Reversed Tower, telling myself I was making changes when I was only dabbling in taking steps to improve my health. Let's start with the divine meaning of the card and then its meaning when reversed. The upright Star is a card of hope, renewal, and faith in the future. It reminds us that healing and inspiration are always within reach, even after challenges. When reversed, The Star's energy can feel blocked or diminished. It may reflect a loss of faith, discouragement, or a sense of being out of touch with one's inner light. The reversed Star often appears during moments of self-doubt or when external circumstances seem overwhelming. It's a gentle nudge to reconnect with your sense of purpose and to trust that brighter days are ahead, even if they're not immediately visible. So, what happens when The Star reversed appears in a reading? When The Star Reversed appears in a reading, it's a sign to examine where you may feel disconnected or discouraged. Suppose you are losing sight of your goals or struggling to see a way forward. In that case, this card reminds you that there is always an opportunity to find renewal and inspiration, even in challenging times. It may suggest a need to nurture yourself. The reversed Star encourages you to focus on self-care, allowing time to rest and recharge to reconnect with your inner light. So, what is the best way to memorize The Star card in reverse? Tying the card to a personal experience helps me remember it. For example, my reversed Star card was when I moved from my parent's home in Ontario to Western Canada when I was 19. The first year I was there, I had a lot of trouble making friends. I was a nanny and didn't have a car, so I spent a lot of time in the home taking care of three children. Outings with the kids were limited to parks in the area that we could walk to. I was lonely and isolated, and I felt like it was Groundhog Day every day. Even though I wasn't into tarot cards back then, I needed to recognize the energy of the Star Reversed and get back to why I moved across the country. I found myself back in the Star Upright by taking control of the situation. I started volunteering after hours to try to meet people. I also contacted the nanny agency that placed me and asked if any other nannies were interested in play dates with their kids. These actions started turning that Star card upright. That's all for today's Star Card Reversed episode. Remember, to memorize tarot, keep practicing tarot. I use the Rider Waite Tarot, but you can view the card while you listen using your own Tarot card deck or a computer. Today, we're exploring The Moon card, focusing on reversals. Let's start with the divine meaning of the card and then its meaning when reversed. The Moon upright represents intuition, illusion, and the mysterious aspects of life. It invites us to navigate uncertainties and trust our instincts when clarity is hard to find. When reversed, The Moon shifts toward uncovering what hides, dispelling illusions, and gaining clarity in situations that previously felt murky or deceptive. The reversed Moon suggests a time when you're beginning to see things as they indeed are, breaking free from confusion or fear. It's an invitation to embrace clarity and face truths, even if they're uncomfortable. So, what happens when the Moon reversed appears in a reading? It's a sign to pay attention to what is revealed. The truths or insights that emerge can challenge your previous perceptions. This card suggests that embracing these revelations, rather than avoiding them, will lead to growth and clarity. It also points to confronting fears or anxieties that may hold you back. The reversed Moon invites you to step into the light of understanding, releasing old patterns of fear or self-doubt. So, what is the best way to memorize the Moon card in reverse? Tying the card to a personal experience helps me remember it. For example, my reversed Moon card experience was when a truth was revealed about someone I was close to. Unbeknownst to many of us, this person was splashed across the news, sharing that they were involved in organized crime. The headlines and story attached to it sounded like something out of a movie, and this group of people were going to jail, including a female lifelong friend. What??!! None of us who knew her realized this person was into these illegal activities as a side hustle. Our upright Moon was simply under the illusion that they primarily kept to themselves, and they appeared to have a problem with alcohol, drugs, or both. When the Moon reversed, we saw the situation was much worse. Unexpectedly worse. This revelation challenged my previous perceptions, and to a certain extent, I mourned who I thought she was. I also accepted the clarity that she was, in fact, someone capable of much more than I thought. That's all for today's Moon Card Reversed episode. Remember, to memorize tarot, keep practicing tarot. Let's start with the divine meaning of the card and then its meaning when reversed. The Sun upright is one of the most positive cards in the tarot, symbolizing joy, clarity, and vitality. It represents a radiant sense of success and confidence, illuminating everything in its path. However, when The Sun appears reversed, its bright energy is somewhat muted. It suggests temporary obstacles, self-doubt, or an inability to embrace what's available. The reversed Sun often points to a time when you might feel disconnected from your sense of joy or clarity. It reminds us that even when clouds obscure the Sun, its light is still there, waiting to shine through. So, what happens when the Sun reversed appears in a reading? When The Sun reversed appears in a reading, it invites you to reflect on what's dimming your light. This card suggests that you can reconnect with your sense of clarity and joy by addressing these obstacles. The Sun reversed invites you to embrace a more compassionate and playful outlook, letting go of perfectionism and allowing yourself to enjoy simple pleasures. What is the best way to memorize the Sun card in reverse? Tying the card to a personal experience helps me remember it. For example, my reversed Sun card experience was when I had many obstacles seeing the Sun in a situation. I was working for a software company in 1998, and this company was before Y2K. We had a number of stressed-out clients, and this was the first time I ever had a job with this much pressure. The obstacle I had trouble overcoming with my Reversed Sun card situation was learning to cope with the pressure. The majority of that experience was a sun upright for so many reasons. It completely changed the direction of my career, for starters. It was really where my training career started. Further, at the time, training was done in person, so I traveled all over North America as a young woman for work. My light dimmed because I couldn't see through the pressure. I was missing all of the experience I was gaining, and all the travelling I was doing, for free. Twenty five years later, I still reflect on that time as such an incredible opportunity. I still remember all of those wonderful places I got to see when travelling for work. Also, that work experience has set me up with contract work ever since. That's all for today's episode. Let's start with the divine meaning of the card and then its meaning when reversed. The Judgment card upright represents clarity, renewal, and a call to step into your higher purpose. It's about awakening to truths, embracing accountability, and making decisions that align with your authentic self. When Judgment appears reversed, however, this energy is blocked or resisted. It may indicate self-doubt, avoidance, or fear of change. Judgment reversed often points to a time when you're struggling to hear your inner calling or feeling hesitant to take responsibility for your choices. It's a reminder to look inward and confront what's preventing you from fully stepping into your power. So, what happens when Judgement reversed appears in a reading? When Judgment reversed appears in a reading, it's a sign to reflect on where you might be avoiding accountability or resisting change. Consider if you are holding onto past mistakes or letting fear keep you from moving forward. This card suggests that by facing these types of challenges head-on, you can begin to realign with your purpose and goals. It may also indicate a fear of Judgment from others or yourself. The reversed Judgment card reminds you to approach yourself with compassion and to recognize that growth comes from accepting and learning from your experiences. What is the best way to memorize the Judgement card in reverse? Tying the card to a personal experience helps me remember it. For example, my reversed Judgement card experience was truly embracing my spiritual side. And truthfully, I am still working on it. I got on this path in my twenties, but as a corporate girl, I have been discerning about who I shared my interests with. Over the last 30 years, the world seems more open to concepts around energy and spirituality, but that wasn't always the case. I found myself sharing this side of me with only a few people. Deciding to put this podcast out into the world was a part of stepping out of the shadows. Even with that, I have only recently begun sharing my face and voice on YouTube. It's a process, and I appreciate those of you who have encouraged me, and I am so happy to be helping people learn and embrace tarot. That's all for today's episode. I use the Rider Waite Tarot, but you can view the card while you listen using your own Tarot card deck or a computer. Today, we're exploring The World card, focusing on reversals. Let's start with the divine meaning of the card and then its meaning when reversed. The World card, when upright, is the final card of the Major Arcana, symbolizing completion, achievement, and the culmination of a significant journey. It represents harmony, fulfillment, and having come full circle. When reversed, The World's energy shifts to highlight unfinished business or a lack of closure just shy of completion. The reversed World card, suggests a time when you're close to reaching a goal, but something is holding you back. It's a call to reflect on what's preventing you from fully embracing your success or moving forward to the next chapter. So, what happens when The World Reversed appears in a reading? When The World Reversed appears in a reading, it's a sign to examine where you might be holding yourself back from completion or success. If you are feeling any fears, doubts, or unresolved issues, be advised that addressing these blocks will bring your journey to a satisfying conclusion. It may also indicate that you're avoiding closure in a situation, whether it's a relationship, project, or personal goal. The reversed World encourages you to take the steps needed to tie up loose ends and embrace a fresh start. What is the best way to memorize The World card in reverse? Tying the card to a personal experience helps me remember it. For example, my reversed World card experience is remembering all of those itty bitty details that must be wrapped up when you leave one opportunity for another. I must ensure that my desk and tasks are up to date and handed off. It is even more important that my employer feels things are tied neatly in a bow. I ensure I do that on all contracts, but I always have fears and doubts that I missed something. Ensuring any loose ends are taken care of makes the endings and new beginnings sweeter. That's all for today's episode. Remember, to memorize tarot, keep practicing tarot. Maybe someone told you it's bad luck to buy one for yourself, or that your readings won't work unless the deck is handed down to you. Well, let's clear that up right now: this is a total myth!If you are new here, welcome to the "Memorizing Tarot Cards" podcast, your three-minute lessons on learning and memorizing each card using symbolism. Today, we're exploring common misconceptions with tarot cards. We have done two complete rounds of three-minute episodes, where we learned the cards upright and reversed. Before we jump back into it, I wanted to switch gears for the holiday season and share my opinions on some common tarot misconceptions. Let's get into it.So, where Did The idea Come From that we can only gift tarot cards? The belief likely started as a tradition. In some folklore, a tarot deck was passed from a teacher to a student, almost like a rite of passage to practice tarot. Over time, this tradition became a superstition. It seems like it may have got out of hand, with someone needing to “choose” you before you can start reading tarot. And sure, that sounds mystical and romantic, but I don't believe it is true. I will get into why I believe that in just a minute.I want to explain three reasons why I feel you can absolutely buy your own tarot cards if you want to.First, when you choose a deck for yourself, you're drawn to its artwork, its energy, or even its theme. You are connected to those cards for a reason. You open it up, you flip through and read the little book to get familiar with them. Really, that connection is what makes the deck work for you, not how you acquired it.The second reason buying your own tarot cards won't curse you or mess up your readings, is because the magic of tarot is in the symbolism, and your interpretation of the cards as the reader. The cards themselves are not a superstition or anything evil. If the person has pure intentions, that is the energy of your reading. And the third reason is because gifting yourself is taking control of your own desires. Think of it this way. When you buy your first set of tarot cards, you are saying, “I'm ready to begin this journey.” It's a gift from you to you, and that's pretty powerful. The Bottom Line, if you're waiting around for someone to gift you tarot cards, you might never get started. And the truth is, there's no rulebook. Tarot is not about gatekeeping. On a final note, I not only bought my first set of cards. I bought all of them, except one! My dear friend, Shelli, use to read my tarot cards. I wanted to learn how to do it myself, so I bought a course, and I was told which tarot cards to buy so all students were on the same set. I walked into Chapters and I bought it. That was decades ago, and it was an awesome decision for me! I have about thirty sets of cards, but I mostly use my Rider deck for readings. So if you've been eyeing a set of tarot cards that you love, my opinion is to go ahead and get it. I am not suggesting something I haven't done, many times. That's all for today's episode. Remember, to memorize tarot, keep practicing tarot. Maybe you reshuffled and asked again, only to wonder, Wait. Am I even allowed to do that? Let's break down this common misconception. Yes, you can ask the same question twice, but with a bit of mindfulness. If you are new here, welcome to the "Memorizing Tarot Cards " podcast, your three-minute lessons on learning and memorizing each card using symbolism. Today, we're exploring common misconceptions about tarot cards. We have done two complete rounds of three-minute episodes, where we learned the cards upright and reversed. Before we jump back into it, I wanted to switch gears for the holiday season and share my opinions on some common tarot misconceptions. Let's get started. So, Why do People Think You Can't Ask the same question Twice? This idea likely comes from the belief that Tarot provides the "right " answer the first time, and asking again might confuse the energy or seem like you're second-guessing the cards. While this might sound logical, Tarot is a tool for reflection and insight. It's not a strict, one-and-done oracle.I want to share three reasons why asking again for more clarity is okay. The First reason is when the first answer felt unclear or overwhelming. Asking again gives you a chance to refine the question or focus on a specific aspect of the situation. For example, asking a question about what to expect in the coming year may give you a lot of cards that aren't related to your concern. Asking again in a way that zeros in on your problem, such as, " What can I expect in the coming year in my love life." That question is more specific. That makes it easier to interpret all cards in that context. The second reason why it's okay to ask the same question again is because your energy, or the energy of others, may have shifted. When I first took my tarot card course, I was in my twenties, and the focus of many tarot card readings with my girlfriends was romantic interests. I found myself doing readings for one friend several times a week, and the question was always the same. Needless to say, her mind was changing, so the same question could easily show a different result two days later. Pulling cards again can offer fresh insights from a new perspective. The third reason is that it may be part of understanding how the cards see the situation you are asking about. For some people, repetition helps them connect with their intuition. Asking the same question differently can deepen your understanding of the situation. For example, if I am doing a reading and I am asking about a job prospect, it may start as a yes or no question. For example, am I getting the job I applied for or not? Sometimes, the card that comes up isn't entirely clear. I may start asking questions about the process. I may ask what the work environment is like in the company I am interested in. Next, let's cover some tips on how to ask the Same Question Twice.First, Change Your Approach to the question. Instead of asking the same thing, rephrase the question to focus on a different angle. For example, instead of asking, "Will I get the job?" try, "What can I do to improve my chances of getting the job"Second, wait a while. Give yourself time to reflect on the first reading before asking again. This will prevent you from falling into an endless loop of seeking answers without taking action. Wait a day or two and see if the energy changes. If the answers don't reflect your first question, I wouldn't discount the message. There may be something in there that hasn't happened yet.And third, Be Honest with Yourself. Are you asking again because you genuinely need more clarity? Or are you asking again because you're hoping for a different answer? If it's the latter, take a step back and explore why the original response didn't sit well with you. After all, Repeating the Question Isn't Helpful if a person obsesses over the outcome and ignores the cards' guidance. Multiple readings might just muddy the waters. Tarot works best as a tool for reflection and guidance, not reassurance. The Bottom Line is that you can ask the same question twice. Tarot isn't going to punish you for it. The key is to approach your question with intention and self-awareness. Each reading is an opportunity to explore your question from a new angle, deepen your understanding, and connect with your intuition. So, the next time you're tempted to reshuffle, ask yourself: "What am I really seeking?" That little pause might be all you need. That's all for today's episode. Maybe you've seen beautiful silk wraps in shops or heard it from someone in the tarot community. It's a nice idea, but here's the truth. Tarot cards don't have to be wrapped in silk.If you are new here, welcome to the "Memorizing Tarot Cards" podcast, your three-minute lessons on learning and memorizing each card using symbolism. So, Where Did This Belief Come From? This idea likely comes from a mix of tradition and symbolism. The First reason is silk's historical value. Silk has long been associated with luxury, protection, and spiritual practices. It was once considered rare and precious, so wrapping tarot cards in silk added an air of importance and care. The second reason may be the mystical symbolism associated with silk. Silk is often seen as a "pure" material, believed to shield energy. Some practitioners thought silk could protect the cards from negative energy or help "charge" them with positive vibrations. The third reason is the Victorian Mystique. During the nineteenth-century revival of mysticism, Tarot was often paired with other rituals and traditions, including elaborate storage methods to elevate its perceived sacredness. While wrapping your cards in silk can feel luxurious and intentional, it's not required for the cards to work effectively. Tarot is a tool, and the energy you bring to it is far more important than how you store it. In fact, you can store your cards however you like. Some popular ideas are to store your cards tucked in its original package. Or, you can store them in a wooden box or bag. I keep my favorite in a cranberry-colored velvet pouch. Also, you can simply store them on a shelf or a desk where they are easily accessible. What matters is that you store your cards in a way that feels meaningful and practical for you. If silk resonates with you, go for it. If not, that's perfectly fine. What really matters, is that the way you store your cards should reflect your relationship with them. For some, that means silk. For others, it might mean a favorite hand-sewn bag or nothing at all. Ensure that your choice takes into consideration what is practical for you. Not everyone resonates with pulling your cards out as a ritual. I have about thirty sets of tarot cards, and I have them displayed on a shelf in my office so that I can quickly grab the ones I wish to use. They also look amazing, and I know exactly where they are. Most are in their original packaging, and the rider cards that I use most often is in a velvet bag. However, one of my dear friends, who also reads cards, loves the ritual of pulling out a wooden box that stores her tarot cards. They are wrapped in silk, and she unwraps them, pulls a candle out of the box, and lights it. She does the whole thing, and she loves it. And its fun getting my cards read by her, and her process is part of the fun. I don't feel that she takes it more seriously than I do. I just think that we have different ways of expressing it.The point is that there is no right or wrong way to store your cards. If silk feels right for you, embrace it, as my friend does. If it doesn't, know that your cards will still work just fine. The bottom line is that tarot cards don't need silk. They need you. Your intentions, energy, and connection to the cards are what truly matter. So whether your cards are wrapped in silk, cotton, or nothing at all, know that it's ready to work with you. That's all for today's episode. Remember, to memorize Tarot, keep practicing Tarot. Maybe you've seen those readers who seem to know every single card by heart and thought, "I'll never get there." Here's the truth. Tarot doesn't have to take years to learn. You can start reading meaningfully right away. If you are new here, welcome to the "Memorizing Tarot Cards" podcast, your three-minute lessons on learning and memorizing each card using symbolism. So, Why Does This Myth Even Exist? The idea that Tarot takes years to master is likely due to two factors. The first reason is the Sheer Number of Cards. With Seventy-eight cards in the deck, each with an upright and reversed meaning, it can feel overwhelming to memorize everything at once. People assume they have to know it all to get started. The truth is when I started, the ones I had the most trouble remembering were the court cards. Even when I thought I knew them, I would draw a blank. Even though I didn't read them perfectly back then, I shared what I knew. I focused on the suits, which I knew, and the colors in the sky, which I knew, and identified them as a person influencing the story in the cards. In other words, I didn't know everything about the court cards, but I weaved what I knew into the story. Also, I didn't read reversals initially because I was still mastering upright. It was where I was at, and I still had powerful readings with others. I believe that because of their reaction and the dialogue from the cards. The second reason is the complexity of putting the story together when you look at all the cards in a spread. Tarot is rich in symbolism, numerology, astrology, and mythology. Some think you must master all these systems to be a "real" tarot reader. As mentioned, this takes time and Practice. But here's the thing. You don't need to know everything to start reading Tarot. You can start from where you are, with the symbolism that you know across the cards, and begin to pull the stories together in the cards little by little. Build your knowledge and start from where you're at.So, how can you learn Tarot without the pressure of not knowing enough?First, just Start Small. Focus on a few cards at a time. For example, pick one series and explore its theme, like Cups for Emotions. Remember, the journey from Ace to Ten is the same sequence in every suit. If you learn one, it's easier to learn the rest.Second, Use Your Intuition if you get stuck. You don't have to memorize every card's meaning perfectly. Look at the imagery, colors, and symbols. Use what you can remember, then ask yourself, "What does this card feel like? What story is it telling me?"And third, of course, Practice Regularly. Pull one card daily and reflect on how it connects to your life. This simple habit builds confidence and familiarity without overwhelming you. The truth is, Tarot doesn't take years to start. Your connection with the cards and reading Tarot will deepen over time.Next, I want to share an example of how I observed my own progression with learning tarot, after I took my course. At this point, I didn't have the cards memorized. I just had the foundational knowledge to fall back on. First, I started seeing patterns in readings across the cards. For example, if I was reading for someone and they were starting a new career, I wouldn't only see the Ace of Pentacles for new beginnings on money, I may also see the Fool for a leap of faith and a Page of Wands for someone young in their journey.Second, my intuition grew stronger when I shared the stories I saw in the cards. With time, I could see the stories in the cards more easily and discuss them, using symbolism as my guide. And speaking of symbolism, the third thing I noticed is that my understanding of symbolism started expanding. That happened because I revisited and sought content to fill in the gaps in my knowledge. It was clear where I was getting stuck, which was court cards. I took the time to learn the court cards better, making my readings much smoother. The Bottom Line is that you don't need years of experience to start reading Tarot. You only need curiosity, a willingness to learn, and a deck of cards. For me, the journey with Tarot has been continuous, but I practiced with friends as soon as I took my course, using the little book when I got stuck. With time, I stopped using the book and just told them what I knew about the cards in their positions. So, grab your cards, shuffle, and get started. That's all for today's episode. Remember, to memorize Tarot, keep practicing Tarot. Did you hesitate, thinking, "Am I supposed to let them touch my tarot cards?" There's a common belief that others should never touch your tarot cards, but let's clear this up: it's totally okay, if you're comfortable with it.If you are new here, welcome to the "Memorizing Tarot Cards " podcast, your three-minute lessons on learning and memorizing each card using symbolism. So, Where Did This Belief Come From? The idea that you shouldn't let anyone touch your tarot cards stems from concerns about energy transfer. There are three common myths. The first, is that a person's energy could disrupt your connection with the cards, Or, their touch might "taint " or weaken the card's power. Some also believe that only the owner of the tarot cards should handle them to maintain the spiritual alignment. While these beliefs come from wanting to protect your connection with your cards, they're not universal truths. Letting someone handle your cards won't automatically ruin their reading or your cards. Next, let's discuss why letting others touch your Tarot cards is okay. First, Shared Energy Builds Connection. When someone shuffles or draws cards, they share their energy and bring it into the reading. This makes the reading feel more personal to the querant. Second, Remember that the cards are tools. Their effectiveness comes from your intuition and connection with the cards. It is not discounted because a person touches them. And Third, your comfort level is really what matters. Whether or not others touch your cards is a personal choice. If you're okay with it, there's no rule against it.How do you approach this when you are reading cards? If you decide to let others touch your cards, Invite Them to Shuffle. Many readers ask their clients to shuffle the cards or cut the cards. This helps them feel involved and invested in the reading. The other way is to Set the Tone by asking the person to set an intention, such as asking them to focus on their question as they shuffle. Another way is to keep things flexible. If someone's nervous about touching the cards, offer to shuffle for them instead.Where I am at, is that I have no problems with someone shuffling my cards. If they want to, I allow them to shuffle until they feel ready to pass me the deck. I lay out the cards from there. The reason why, is because that is how I learned to read cards. None of these myths were communicated to me. I never started this practice worrying about these things. Also, I have been the sole person touching the cards. That is when a girlfriend of mine calls me up wanting a reading. In that case, I am the only one in the room. Both methods have worked well when I am reading cards. In my experience, it hasn't made a difference. The Bottom Line is that no tarot law says others can't touch your tarot cards. It's all about what feels right for you. Some readers love the energy exchange, while others prefer to keep their cards private. Trusting your intuition and setting boundaries that work for you is the key. That's all for today's episode. Remember, to memorize Tarot, keep practicing Tarot. Let's get started. So, Where does This belief come from? The idea that Tarot can be linked to black magic may stem from misunderstandings about its use and origins. Here are three reasons why.The first reason is Fear of the Unknown. For centuries, anything mystical or misunderstood was cast aside. In some cultures, practices like divination were associated with witchcraft, which was feared and condemned. The second reason could be Pop Culture Stereotypes. Movies and TV shows often depict Tarot as part of ominous rituals or spooky fortune-telling scenes. This has created a dramatic but false image of Tarot as something sinister. The last reason is the Occult Connections to it. While Tarot was used in occult practices, the word "occult" means "hidden" or "mysterious." It doesn't mean evil. Tarot is a tool, and like any tool, its purpose depends on how it's used.Next, let's talk about What Tarot Actually Is. Tarot is a system of cards designed to help with self-reflection, guidance, and storytelling. It's a way to tap into your intuition and explore the energies and situations around you. People use Tarot for different reasons, such as Personal Growth. The cards can help some people gain insight into challenges or decisions. They are also used for Creative Inspiration. Tarot can help with Developing ideas for art, writing, or problem-solving. Some people also use Tarot for Spiritual Practices. The messages can be used to explore inner wisdom or connect with higher guidance. In truth, there is nothing inherently dark or magical about Tarot. It is a neutral tool that reflects the energy and intentions of the person using it.A misconception like this can be harmful because it can deter people from exploring Tarot if they feel drawn to it. It creates unnecessary fear around a practice meant to empower and inspire people. It perpetuates a stereotype that can disconnect Tarot from its true purpose. The Bottom Line is that reading Tarot isn't black magic. Tarot is a mirror for your intuition and a tool for self-discovery. The cards hold no power of their own. Their messages come from the energy and intentions that you bring to them. That's all for today's episode. Remember, to memorize Tarot, keep practicing Tarot.
