No breaking Pittsburgh Steelers news? That's when our show gets the most honest. We're back in the basement, catching up with the Footballing family, and we start with the one Steelers moment that actually deserves the spotlight: Pat Freiermuth getting married. We send a real congratulations, then pivot into what we do best when the offseason goes quiet, telling stories and hanging out like you're sitting right here with us. We bring back the beer segment with two very different pours: a Western American lager that takes Ben straight back to Estes Park, Colorado, and a “Beer Flavored Beer” sent in from Allusion Brewing Company in Pennsylvania. The beer talk turns into the kind of unexpectedly fun rabbit hole we love, including a legit question: why do some beer steins have lids, and what does that say about the history of drinking culture? From there, it's camp stories from Wind River Ranch and a faith-based retreat that mixes family time, teaching, worship, and the kind of challenge you can't fake. Ben tells the egg toss story that ends in a brutal loss at the worst possible moment, then walks through a 3:45am hike in the dark to a sunrise summit over 11,000 feet. We talk altitude, heart rates, carrying everyone's water, kids sprinting ahead like mountain goats, and the simple “mountains and valleys” metaphor that sticks with you long after the trip ends. If you like Steelers podcasts with personality, craft beer reviews, and real-life lessons that land, hit play. Subscribe, share this with a friend who needs a laugh, and leave a review with your own best hiking or game-day fail story.

Is Russell Martin's ‘philosophy' at Southampton destined only for the Championship? Contrary to popular belief, does the Chelsea board actually know what it is doing? And despite the top ten teams in the Premier League being managed by foreign coaches, are British coaches STILL just as good as they are?Simon, Troy, Graeme and Henry examine all that and more as they put common footballing theories under the microscope.18+ please gamble responsibly

NEW: send me a text message! (I'd love to hear your thoughts - texts get to me anonymously, without charge or signup) To critique the state of our world, our communities, to critique what is wrong with soccer in late stage capitalism is one thing. It actually isn't a hard thing. But to dream, think and even plan for a better world, and a better football, that is something different entirely. Alina Schwermer, a young and extremely talented German journalist, has done just that, on 450 pages, in her book Futopia: Ideas for a Better Footballing World. It's a book about football, and about utopias. About the game and how we can reimagine it, but also about a different, more vibrant and just world. We discuss new rulebooks, a critique of competition and beauty as we now know it, a new financial order for the sport, and some DIY ideas for your local context. Tune in and, I promise, you will be rewarded and your imagination will be stretched. And you can tell your friends afterwards that you are well ahead of the curve by having listened into this book, because it isn't translated into English. Not yet. Crisis club Ajax plumb new depths of hubris as their ramshackle defending on the pitch is eclipsed by a flurry of own goals in the boardroom. Down the road in The Hague, the manure hits the fan in the coalition talks as the negotiators try to put together the puzzle pieces. A group of pensioners go on trial accused of forming a criminal organisation to distribute suicide powders. Cyclists now account for two in five road deaths, but most would still rather be seen dead than in a safety helmet. And campaigners score a major victory in their efforts to clean up 800 tonnes of debris from the bottom of the Waddenzee.
Footballing legend, broadcaster and our host for lunch… Gary Lineker makes his famous 'gambas al ajillo' for Leyla Kazim at his home as she hears how he learnt to cook nine years ago and never looked back. They also discuss food memories from his professional football career, from playing and eating around the world to unorthodox pre-match lunches, Spanish-style. Along the way, she hears stories from Gary's friends and family as a little-known side to Gary's character as a newly passionate cook and self-confessed foodie gradually takes shape. Produced by Nina Pullman for BBC Audio in Bristol.

Tiago Rech went viral when he was the only supporter in the stands at his club's game. In 2012 Tiago Rech was the only fan at a big away match for his beloved football team Santa Cruz FC. When they scored, his timid, lone celebration was caught by TV cameras and went viral. All this attention earned him a role with the club, where full of ideas and enthusiasm, he made his way to the very top, to his dream job of club President. But there would be a sting in this fairytale. Produced and presented by Andrea Kennedy Editor: Munazza Khan Clips courtesy of Federação Gaúcha de Futebol and Canal Duda Garbi.
